The directing is stylish, stupendous, and electrifying. The performances are grand and the plot is fantastic. The action is breathtaking and the scenery is legendary. Not to mention the cinematography and choreography. Josh Brolin gives his best as Sergeant John O'Mara. He pulls of the emotion of a World War II and an honest husband trying to save Los Angeles and make it a better place for his unborn son. Ryan Gosling gives it all as the cool and sly Jerry Wooters, whose playboy personality compliment his relationship with Emma Stone, who gives a fine performance as Grace Faraday. The action was one of the main highlights of the film. The car chase was exciting and the chinatown incident was heart pumping. Sean Penn's character is well developed and his act is pretty darn good. Considering Sean Penn has done this before.
