tier whores

The gaming world has become extremely expansive in a few short decades, it brings new ways for people to connect and communicate all over the world.

One of the most common ways to communicate in the online gaming world is to give the gift of "salt."

.....High quality rage quit salt

One of the easiest ways to do this is to choose the most OP of characters or skills/abilities a game can offer and simply trash talk about your opponent possesses no skill. Typically, even with the most broken of characters there is some amount of skill required to use them.

There are other cases where this is unfairly untrue. In fact they are so broken they tend to have their own tier usually labeled god-tier or S-tier. I'm assuming S-tier stands for Stupid-tier, since you can play so stupidly with these characters that they in fact require no skill to play and cause accidental victories.

This is amusing if done in moderation, but the power consumes many and turn them into what gamers refer to as "tier whores."

Share your pain of the times you constantly faced tier-whores or share the pain of you once being drunk with its power.

Even better yet defend and justify the use of S-tier characters as some may say anything for the 'W'

S-Tier stands for Segureru-Tier, literally meaning Excellent Tier.

Also, people getting salty about playing top tier characters is kinda silly. Obviously if they had a good amount of skill at the game, they would be able to stand a chance against even the gods unless they have a good-enough pilot. This is because you would be able to know your match-ups if you knew you struggled against it so much.

For the record, I'm only really a tier whore in KoF and even then it's not that big.

I've been a low tier whore. You see I usually end up maining most the characters at the bottom of a teir list. For example Roll is my main in MvsC2.

Story of my life, with Fall of Cybertron.
Some classes just have over-the-top ridiculous weapons that wreck everyone, and in the process, will just rustle jimmies on an idiotically high level.
...
And I don't even do it intentionally, too...

In video games, there are two things. Better things and not-so-better things.

People like using the better things because they are better, and the people that use the not-so-better things against the better things get so...

bitter.

And I feel for the latter. The use of a small group of better things constantly makes a game feel stale and boring for me, since it's basically the same thing over and over.

Dunno, it's just what I think.

That's juggling.
Its different, from something blatantly overpowered.
It is juggling.

But the move in itself is also overpowered because it does a shitton of damage.

Also, I feel this is relevant:

Iron Scraps causes this.

Never played the game yet, would like to, defiantly looks like a game with drastic differences in tiers.
Basically looks like the broken equivalence of throwing a league champion into a game of starcraft

zzvzz, >>xz with Eve causes so much rage in PvP, since you can basically keep floating them until they die.

EDIT: Also, Raven's Core.

I think you have some point, but development also tends to see such exploits as such extremities that they actually take the time to either make patches or make balance changes before release.

looks kind of like smash bros with no actual avoid roll, no block and no grab which is fine, but WTF is with those unorthodox hitboxes?
I'm just going to assume that people with set ups and large hitboxes = OP to the max

I would mention TF2's issue over vs , but that only applies to competitive servers
(Which you only find if you go and look for them)

I believe getting mad at somebody over them using a "high-tier" character and using that as an excuse as to why you lost is just bad sportsmanship. There may be some characters that are easier to play, but that does not mean that said character is overpowered or your opponent is worse than you or is a noob for playing said character. If you were good at the game that is being played you should know how to counter said character. In hard counter match-ups, there is more of an excuse as too why you are losing, but even in th hardest of counters a skilled player who plays smart could win quite easily.

Tiers are made to show the initial strength of a character, not to give the idea that they are stupidly overpowered and can't be beat. If you're good at the game, you can beat a tier 1 with a tier 3.

Just my two cents.

This is seriously something more people need to understand. While SSBB isn't the most competitive game out there, I get sick of hearing META KNIGHT OP SO BAD CAN'T BEAT.

Is he more powerful then other characters? Sure, I don't see any character who's attacks have the reach and spam that his do. Is he stupid to fight against? Sometimes sure. But if you're good with the character you use, you can beat him.

I'm also tired of people who say TIERS DON'T EXIST SHUT UP. Of course they do. Some characters are naturally better. Tiers assume equal skill and minimal luck. Some people just don't seem to understand that.

I think part of the issue here, might be:
Is someone a good player, or are they only "good" because they use something stronger then the norm?

Friend of mine from Anime club is, apparently, amazing with Lucas. I beat him every time with Game & Watch.
Doesn't mean Game & Watch is stronger, because hes quite good with Lucas, and G&W is one of my better characters.

Tiers make games interesting because they allow more creative and innovative ideas from players.

An example of this is a Destroy Missile/Dread Lazer Cygnus folder with +10 panels everywhere, despite the availability of a Gemini/Rogue Stunlock, or a Knuckle-based Virgo in Starforce 3 Precisely freezing. The first example is the folder I used, which was effective and viable even though it wasn't the most viable of Noise Forms.

Or...
Using Grotle with Eviolite in OU tier. Grotle never even had a strategy page on Smogon, though almost any team without Substitute ends up being blocked by a bloody Grotle. Making Uber teams rage quit with Grotle or Feraligatr is also entertaining.

In terms of Super Smash Bros, I never cared for tiers enough to affect my gameplay. I tend to spend the most time on Wolf, Jigglypuff and Ganondorf, and the character I was most skilled at of all Super Smash Bros games was Roy followed by Sheik, the former surpassing the latter while Sheik is a much higher tier.

Is it weird that I, somewhat, except you to mention Sirius.folder?
Of course, Hyper Armor and/or a Noise Form that cant be paralyzed, completely wrecks that folder.

I do have a good number of wins under my belt with the low tiers. It just takes a LOT of practice to use them well, but well worth it if you ask me.

I mean I've pulled those off too, but I usually had to either lame it out in fighting games, get all campy in shooters, and Exp/Kill steal in RPG's

unless it was like KOF, which I'm too mad boss at.
or smash which I'm average with
