Batman & Robin

I FINALLY watched this movie on Sunday the whole way through. Going in with an open mind, I loved it. While not as amazing as the Burton movies (Hub ran this back-to-back with Burton's Returns), Batman's external conflicts of trust between him and Robin and understanding family in this movie are a great follow-up to the internal conflicts concerning the Batman identity resolved in Forever.

The movie does have problems though. Bane is wasted potential here. He's just mindless muscle, something he isn't in most universes. Mr. Freeze's ice jokes are all pushed into the first 15 minutes of the movie, though Schwartzeneggar is what justifies the character's cheesiness. I just don't care about Poison Ivy at all in any fiction, but her acting in some scenes really sold me on the character. While I liked Batgirl and found her interactions with Robin engaging (probably a nod to their romance in TAS/TNA,) her presence in the movie felt a little pointless and she didn't contribute much to the movie's themes of trust and family.

This movie has the worst Batmobile I've ever seen. A one-seater with no canopy, and it has goofy-looking spinning light at the bumper. Also, likely to sell toys, the Dynamic Trio use goofy-looking vehicles (if I remember from an old toy catalog several years back, one was called the Bat-Hammer) to get to Freeze's lair over say, the Batwing. On the positive, I like how Robin's suit looks like the Nightwing suit with a cape and belt.

I liked the twist on Forever's opening suit-up sequence where Robin breaks the dramatic silence of the Batmobile rising up by saying "chicks dig the car," a line spoken by Batman in Forever to Viridian Chase. I'm probably the one person on this planet who liked the infamous "bat credit card." Not worth a giggle, but it's a nice reference to the 60's series use of "Bat [problem x stopper], and to the idea that Batman, who can take down a God with preparation, is always prepared for anything.

I also noticed that a lot of music was recycled from Forever.

I had a coloring book like this one when I was a kid because TAS-style art.

Anyone watch this?

In my honest opinion. The worst Batman movie ever made. No wait, the worst Superhero movie ever made. No wait, THE WORST MOVIE EVER MADE!

I can't stand this movie. It's plot annoys me, it's characters are overly cheesy, it hit campy central, most actors potential are wasted, too many villains, poor dialogue, annoying minions, horrible puns, and craptastic directing.

They made the movie based on the toys they wanted to sell. That pretty much show you how bad this movie's gonna be.

But hey, The Transformer franchise did the same thing and they become one of the top grossing movie of the year it was released...

Honestly I really like the first Transformer's movie. Then came 2... and then 3. And now I have decided to put Michael Bay on my blacklist.

The first was ok. Guilty pleasure and seeing Optimus Prime in a live action movie? Awesome! Plus, it has a plot line. They decided to make the second and third movie based on the toys they wanted to sell so there's that. Heard that their doing the same thing with the fourth movie too.

I don't mind them doing that actually. As long as they pick a good director to do it. Michael Bay unfortunately is NOT one of those people.

They are rebooting most if not all the actors for the fourth movie I believe.
