a question i always like to discuss with people when talking about music is the following: how do you feel about moving vocals away from just a way to deliver lyrics? and more turning the voice into an instrument without trying to give any meaning to it. using stuff like nonsense lyrics or heavy vocal editing to obscure meaning. im personally a big fan of it but not many others seem to be.

for just one example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=muMJtcXcM2c

vocal editing is fairly acceptable to a lot of people. i think what turns them off usually is when it gets to nonsense lyrics or when the editing is purposely done to the point to make understanding lyrics impossible. on one level i understand wanting to know what people are saying in a song but one another that sometimes doesnt matter in the slightest and if the person who made the song doesnt want it to matter, then why should it?

Sometimes hard to hear lyrics can work if they blend in well enough. Let's take a band like Crystal Castles or Nine Inch Nails as an example. They are experimental so for some people it would just sound like noise, if you distort and mess around with the vocals to the point where it can sometimes be hard to understand what he/she is saying then it adds onto the experimental/noisy style. All that they are doing is trying to increase the noisy and experimental atmosphere for the listener. Besides it's not like the artists don't take their time to make good lyrics.

It looks like I missed some really good conversations >.> Damn time zones.

Anyway, on to some of the topics. Linkin Park: My favourite song's probably Breaking The Habit. I just love. Though my favourite album is probably Minutes to Midnight, mainly because it's the only full album I've listen to/had.
And my friend did a great, short video with a Linkin park song in it, as a Twewy VGMV(Like an AMV, but with Videogames), though it's only 30 seconds long, and she made a mistake with the lyrics: https://www.youtube....h?v=VVzIb9GI9EA

And Radiohead are quite decent, I guess, but I dont listen to them often.

HU aren't terrible I guess. I dont think anyone's mentioned Black Dahlia, which is probably my favourite of their songs.
It's much more meaningful than a lot of their other stuff, and I find it quite good because of it's simplicity. https://www.youtube....h?v=mrHsVEchoUI

Nice Sig Renji. xD Fort Minor is one of the few rappers that I actually like, and the stuff that I've heard from him is great. Kenji is probably my favourite.

Anyway: Some amazing Guitar-ness. I'm currently trying to learn it, and I can play up to 1:25 >.> https://www.youtube....h?v=pOSaDbb9gaQ

(Sorry, I forget how to make them videos, so it's just gonna be links.)

I think I saw something about the best screamers? And I've just gotta voice my opinion on the matter: I'm sorry, but while Chester is a great singer, and a decent screamer (And very multitalented, specifically vocal wise), he's by no means the best screamer, and has nothing on the Death Growlers of genres like Death Metal and Grindcore, or the screamers of Thrash metal.
And example of a great Grind Core Death Growl: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SIRUzqHTNh8
Watch some Three Inches of Blood for the Thrash Metal. And I'm confident you could find some decent Death metal on your own.

You can hardly take that as an accurate list; it has Robert Plant and Axl Rose on their.
And sure, he's good. I'm not denying that. But I just think that list is totally wrong; it's going for the mainstream artists. A list voted by fans is never gonna be that accurate, cos there's going to be a fair amount of bias (for example, M shadows is their, and he doesn't really scream, he just has aggressive vocals).

Personally, out of that list, I'd vote mostly for Danny Worsnop. 1) Because he's from Yorkshire in britain, like me. 2) Because he's actually the best screamer on that list.

But there are still those that are much better if you go looking.

Perhaps you prefer more smooth, lighter screaming, but I myself prefer true throaty death growls. xD A voice that almost sounds like a third guitar with a riff.
But each to their own I guess. =D

Well since it was voted by fans, everyone had a fair chance

Tho it would make sense the band with more fans, would get more votes.

So Chester has that backing.

Tho I still think he's best screamer, cuz I haven't seen anyone else do a 17 second scream live

And be able to scream so loudly

And be able to do so many types of screams O_o''

I take that video above btw, as not screaming, but more like growling.

Not a music expert tho xD

It's a death growl, but it's a similar aggressive vocal sound. But I guess it is quite different from high pitched Screaming.

Danny Worsnop is a great screamer. Asking Alexadria. You listened to them? He's definitely one of the most diverse screamers I've heard. I think their are better, but he's probably one of my favourites.

My favourite of their original songs.

Oh, and to tell if someone's a great screamer - or at least that they have good technique - listen for a very clean tone. While a rather raggedey sound can sound good, it's usually the sound of inexperience and can be very damaging. For example, Danny Worsnop, when he goes into his growl, sounds almost perfectly clean. That shows he's good.
Chester does it as well I think; which I would expect him to, he's a very professional vocalist.

I actually hate Asking Alexandria
And to me that's one of their worst songs
But then again I hate almost every single scene/emo band
And almost all of the modern post hardcore bands
I don't really know what sets me off about bands like those
I just can't really seem to stand them

Though at least they're not one of those
Deathcore/Grindcore type bands with those unbearable pig growls in them

Then me and you totally disagree on Music, Aphex. X'D Grindcore is currently one of my favourite genres, with Napalm Death ebing awesome.

And Asking Alexandria aren't emo/scene. I prefer not to associate with them kind of genres, hence my dislike of bullet for my valentine, BvB, Bring me the horizon and that sort of stuff. I just dont like it. Asking Alexandria seem different in my eyes; for one, their lead vocalist is a hell of a lot more talented Screamer/Growler.

So, would we like to change the topic? I think guitarists should be next: the best and favourites of everyone. Best is easily Jimi Hendrix, in my eyes; as in most people's. But my favourite is probably Angus Young. Just because I'm a massive ACDC fan.

Wow guitarists aren't really something that I've sat down and thought about
I know that my favorite bass guitar player is Tom Jenkinson a.k.a. Squarepusher
He's one of the only few electronic musicians to use a live bass guitar
And honestly after hearing how crazy some of his bass guitar solos are
In some of the songs from the Ultravisitor album we all can agree with me
