Fairy, could potentially be legit. I get why Poison and Steel beats it, since of course fantasy would be weak to reality, but that dragon immunity makes me think thye're trying to heavily nerf the type. Clefairy and Jigglypuff would probably get classified as Fairies to.

It would work I guess. From a game play perspective I like what it adds. Steel and Poison do almost nothing offensively. Dragon REALLY needs something to resist it since 1 type in the whole game does. Having something else to deal 2x damage vs. Dragon and Fighting is also nice. My biggest complant is that Fire would also take double damage. The type already has HUGE targets on it from Ground, Water, and Rock types, it really doesn't need a new one.

It doubles on Dark, Dragon, and Fighting.

Dat Batman and Robin pic...

Fairy will be a new type. It is weak to Poison and Steel, immune to Dragon, super effective against Dragon, Dark, and Fighting, and Fire and Psychic-type Pokemon take half damage from it.

The "Immune to Dragon" part seems a little wonky, but I see what they are getting at.

Thoughts?

Update (10:30 PM) – We just noticed this, but the filename for Mewtwo’s new forme on the official Pokemon movie website is http://www.pokemon-movie.jp/img/pokemon/long/info/infoM2x.png. M2X = Mewtwo X, so maybe there’s a Mewtwo Y? Regular Mewtwo’s filename is infoM2.png, so the “x” was obviously added on purpose for the form’s filename. | Update (6:45 PM) – Oops, I forgot a little piece about the Fairy-type which has been added below. | If you want to comment on this news story or have any questions, feel free to post in this forum thread.

WPM is full of shit. Everything he posted there was ripped straight from a thread on Gamefaqs that was made 11 days ago, and the author of said thread has been posting about it on /vp/ since this went up. He claims it's true because "my friends are beta testers for the game and they told me about it."

Come on people, this is like the third time.

Yeah, of course you gotta take it with a grain of salt. It's not true until it's confirmed by CoroCoro/Smash/something similar.

I wanted to know what you thought of it, should it be implemented. Personally, I would love this type. It has a dragon resist, which, lord knows, we need, and it gives poison another SE attack, which again, lord knows, we need. Poison is only good vs. Grass. It's probably the worst attacking type, although Steel is pretty bad as well.

If the Fairy Type is real, then I'm good with that. I also like that it gives Poison something else to be super effective against and that it's immune to Dragons for some reason. And Sylveon being a Fairy is also something I can get behind, better than Normal at least.

I also love that you can ride Pokémon now (I'm assuming more because why would they limit it to just a Gogoat); I bet Rapidash Racing or Go-Gogoats will become a thing.

And Mewtwo having another form would also be interesting. Don't get how that would be an "X" form though.

Fairy type actually seems like a viable type. *raises shield* let me explain why I think it could be true

1) Sylveon right now is a completely unknown type. don't you find that odd? think of 1 eevee evolution that's been an ambiguous type... can you? every eevee form has been a direct representation of its type, and Sylveon looks more like a fairy type than any type currently in existence (maybe bug, but that's a stretch) and think of all the eevee names so far

Vaporeon - vapor - water

Flareon - flare - fire

Jolteon - jolt - electric

Espeon - esper - psychic

Umbreon - umbral - dark

Glaceon - glacier - ice

Leafeon - leaf - grass

Their names all fit their type, now think about this; Sylveon - Sylvan/ Sylph- Fairy? it feels right, so could it work?

2) aren't there older Pokémon that would fit right into the fairy grouping? I mean, Jigglypuff Clefairy, Snubbul, Audino, even celebi (even though it has 2 types already) could all be turned into fairy types if it's true, and most of them deserve something better than normal typing anyways. Fairy just kinda fits the Pokémon theme anyways, and it's about time we got a new type  to keep things... interesting.

3)As for the typings, I've seen a lot of different ones, but the one in that article seems to be the most commonly used one, and it makes a lot of sense when you think about it. I mean, in a lot of fables, fairies and other ethereal creatures get hurt by Steel/ Iron or corrupted by poisoning their environment which could lead to some badass evolutions if done correctly, and immunity to dragons makes some sense when you think about it a little since usually dragons would never attempt to harm fairies. (unless you count the western depictions of them, but Pokémon is made in japan, so yeah.) and even then it's forgivable since dragons seriously need more checks against them. I'd go into more about that, but it's not worth the time right now and I could still be wrong.

But I will say this much, what if the whole fairy thing is just hiding something else about the game? I mean, the guy responsible for the leaks is the same one who leaked the early B&W pokédex entries and was correct on those, so if he does have that kind of intel, why hasn't he been fired/ arrested for leaking company info? unless there's something else that the fairy thing is being used to cover for, like another new eeveelution set besides fairy. This game is speculated to be about genetics (x&y chromosomes, the return of Mewtwo i.e. the genetic Pokémon, eevee itself) so maybe something else involving genetics could be involved, like Deyoxys, Ditto, Mew, the Fossil Pokemon, or the 3rd regional legendary?

So, how does this affect how Pokemon generate in grass? If you have free movement, then it becomes harder to program. Though, it will be nice to do, I wonder if it's going to be like Pokemon Ranger style, cause that worked out pretty well.

I don't see why they wouldn't stick to the same tile-based system.

Especially considering that Fires are usually really limited in most of the games.

B2/W2 gave you Growlithe pretty early, but this would be a Dual-Type Fire+Flying, just for added shenanigans.
Also that Panda being a Fighting; It's adorable, and can kick your ass. I love it.

If they're going for 3D movement, then that will be harder to accomplish.

Not really, no. A battle would be associated with each tile in turn, and since it would be possible to be on two tiles at once I'd guess you'd have to be at least 51% on one tile in order to trigger its battle.
