Cin
I meant event wise like Pokemon Smash releases (it's ended now, but you get the point) and US get the hidden bonus on their website. I might just play for whatever team I want or plan. Think the last time I did that was Diamond tho.
Toffee.
It's a whole new region, with a whole new dex. You shouldn't be deciding your teams on the first run before playing the games. But half of everyone's teams is pure Starter Pokemon =D
Cin
That is a little daft to give you two starters, I mean how many people before now (bar in Yellow) have run more than 1 starter? I need information before I decide which combo to go for, although I want Zard and Blaziken. I did in Platinium running all 3, but usually I'll stick to one or ditch it for a team of never used before Pokes. People like to be prepared for last few games this close to release I've had 3 different teams because of changes. I suppose that was because of a non-simultaneous release. TheTurtleOnceCalledGod
But half of everyone's teams is pure Starter Pokemon =D It is a classic core that works well. To be honest, about 80-90% of our teams will probably look nearly identical during the early parts of the game. My team so far: Chespin (meatshield), Squirtle (spinnerplusIliketurtles), Torchic (killitwithfire), Dedenne (utility), Pidgey (hmslave), Honedge (spinblocker). Airride
Come on guys, seriously. It's a whole new region, with a whole new dex. You shouldn't be deciding your teams on the first run before playing the games. In fact, I won't even be looking up the Pokemon that haven't been revealed yet. Because it'll be a surprise. And it's more fun that way. I just think, personally, that it only makes sense to do the first run of any game blind, instead of treating it like every other run you do. When my runs always have some kind of theme, I want to make sure none of the Pokemon I'm looking for/find break from that theme, especially when this one is an incredibly silly non-evolved/evolving Pokemon run. Aerion Brightflame
Not sure if it's already been said, but Serebii has it down that with the airing of the Pokemon The Origins special, there will be some X and Y information. But there's no idea if it will be new or anything.
Grunt Issun
Honestly? I probably won't be using a Kanto starter, and I sure as hell won't be getting the Torchic. Don't need two fire types.
Eury
Well, my team is pretty much already decided. :L Fennekin, Charizard, Absol, Tyrantrum, Hawlucha (assuming real), Yveltal. Absol and Charizard alternating megas depending on my needs. And yes I'm using a Legendary. Not getting Y for shits and giggles, Yveltal master race. Grunt Issun
Well you can't have more than one Mega Evo at a time anyway. Anyway, I just can't understand deciding your entire team before you've played a game for the FIRST time. Literally the ONLY things I KNOW I'm going to get are Fennekin and Honedge, and that's assuming that Honedge is easy to find and catch.
~British Soul~
Yveltal master race. I shall join you in the Yveltal master race. I know the only things I'm getting are Squirtle and Fennekin. The other pokemon I had in mind were/are subject to change as we don't know all the pokemon yet. When I was younger, I thumbed through the guide book calmly and looks at Pokemon, their general stat distribution, etc, and planned a team. Like using Litwick, my favorite pokemon ever. I'm probably gonna do the same via DB/Serebii, too.
Aerion Brightflame
Well I still have no idea what starter I want, (Either one) or what other pokemon I want, beyond Pancham, because well it's a Panda, I would be remiss if I didn't use it. And I know I'm getting Y because the legendary looks amazing. I just want to find out the Final forms of the Kalos starters and decide from there whether I take Squirtle or Charmander. Shradow
I know all the Pokemon I'll be getting so far, I just don't know what my teams will be, since I know I'll have at least 30 Pokemon to spread around. Also, gonna ask again, to those who're getting Y, any chance any of you would want to trade your Mewtwonite Y for my Mewtwonite X when we get them? Mega Mewtwo Y is so far the one thing I don't want to miss out on by getting X.

Blake
I wasn't talking to you. I was talking to Armz. ... And? I was explaining a general idea to you because you don't seem capable of understanding why people do it. It's to make sure you get something you like instead of OMFG WHAT IS THAT MUST AVOID INTERNET TO PLAY.
-Berserker-
I'll be getting Pokemon Y, and use Froakie. My Kanto starter (if we can choose, instead of it being based on the type of your starter) will be Bulbasaur. Will reset until I get a female Froakie and breed it as soon as possible to trade for the other starters. Cannot say what team I will have, but I'll do my classic move of catching everything and keep the first six, until I need something different for HMs or they are not good enough anymore (In Diamond, I left my Bibarel only after getting eight badges). I just hope we get Exp. All early so I can make the changes in my team easily.
Toffee.
is easy to find-You know, if you think about it, this is usually the deciding factor to most teams.I mean, I keep saying I want a Spritzee on my team, yet, for all I know, SPritzee is only obtainable near the end of the game.Same goes for Pancham. So for the most part, people are just speculating teams for what they are hoping to ideally find, despite the fact we don't know exact locations yet. Grunt Issun
And therein lies my problem. That and stats. People don't know anything about stats yet. I find that, on the first time, experimenting is the most rewarding. Waiting until all the data is laid out for you and choosing a team seems like it'd take too long, and being dead set on a certain team, only to find out that most of those Pokemon SUCK or are super rare would be super disappointing and annoying. I get that some people just like to have everything prepared for themselves before doing anything, but with so many Pokemon to choose from, knowing almost nothing about them, it just seems ridiculous. We don't even know most of the gym leaders yet, or how far into the game any given Pokemon appears, so planning ahead for type advantage doesn't work either. -Berserker-
Now I want to write a fanfic called "chespin day". It would be the movie Groundhog Day but set october 11, 2013, and the main character will wait the pokemon games with monstruous anticipation. So, what can we expect of the online features related to the new games, now that the Global Link will be replaced and we will lose the Dream World? Airride
Like I said, I'm personally only looking at Pokemon designs, mainly just non-evolving ones, just to see what I would like to use the most for a fun, basic run of the game. Obviously, I need to keep in mind when they are in the game (I don't what another Pokemon white where 1/2 of my Pokemon are around the 6th/7th gym), but I'm trying not to spoil myself on anything BUT the Pokemon. Grunt Issun
Fair enough, then. I just prefer to decide what I use at a whim when going through something the first time, and occasionally on future playthroughs. Gets me used to using whatever I can get. And coming across something you weren't expecting can be an (occasionally) nice surprise. For example, I plan to wait until I get it there myself to see Fennekin's final evolution.
