I'm happy with the types we have now, but I would like to see some new combinations like Fire/Grass or Dragon/Fighting
they will probably get around to that soon. I mean they kind of have to.

Re: the Eeveelution poster and three tissues theories: ...damn fandom, you scare me sometimes.

Also, what I hope the new game will or will not be.

No new types are introduced. The only time they had to do that was back in Gen II, when Psychic had completely broken the game and needed way more opposition. If another new type is introduced so late in the series, Nintendo will probably have to retcon many more moves and Pokémon in order to balance out the ratios, and that frankly seems like more work than it’s worth. Plus, the whole light/dark dichotomy doesn’t work: as someone previously mentioned, the Dark type in the series has more of a connotation of trickery and underhandedness rather than shadows.

The region is set in France as a whole, rather than just Paris. I only say this because France’s culture is more cohesive than the United States’ are. Plus, Paris itself isn’t as big as NYC, so I feel they’d have to stretch more to make some connections. (Funfact – the fan French!region idea I had a while ago had the Paris-equivalent gym set in the Eiffel Tower.)

The type Dark doesn't correspond to the traditional views of 'Light vs Darkness'. In Pokemon, the Dark type should actually be read as 'evil' and not shadows-blackiness-darkness, therefore if they ever introduce a Light type, it shouldn't be related to Dark at all. Personally, I'd rather they keep that cliche Light type out of my beloved games. They're doing well enough as it is.
Oh cool, someone else said it so I don't have to. Light type is a dumb idea anyway.

IIRC Psychic is the equivalent of Light in Japan anyway, so that won't be happening. But I honestly think it's time for one; things are hitting too hard now. Dragons should get a nerf while Ice types really need a buff. Game Freaks could maybe scale down the overall power of moves as well.

*looks at how I think Light would work as a type*

*looks at how people think Light would work*

Guys, it's point wouldn't be to counteract, it's point would be to add a new dimension to the game. /it'sfunnybecause3DS It'd be more like a bizarro Ghost. Existing alongside Dark. Not counteracting it :\

It's an interesting and gamechanging idea. It may take Game Freak some work to institute, but I hardly think it's too much work for them, and I certainly don't think it's a bad idea other than for people who just want to be haters about it.

If you ask me, which you probably don't, we don't need Light, as Psychic and Normal are kind of the opposites of Dark right now anyway.
We're not arguing about "necessities" and "opposites" of anything. In either case, Psychic is hardly the opposite of Dark. Dark, Bug, and Ghost are all examples of fears, something the mind is afraid of, something the psyche is afraid of, something psychics are weak to. Fear isn't exactly the opposite of the mind. And Dark is a bizarro Normal, as Armz pointed out earlier. I wouldn't call Bizarro Superman the opposite of Superman.

The point I'm trying to make isn't that it's necessary. It's that it'd be a cool idea if they added a new type, which I think Light is a perfectly legitimate choice.

Fighting also works as an opposite, conceptwise. Fighting is all about martial prowress, discipline, tecnique, while dark is tricks and playing dirty.
Fighting and psychic are by and far more opposites, conceptwise.

One is the prowess of the body, one of the mind.

Dark is just bizarro Normal, since it share some similarities with Psychic and Ghost.
...Or something like that.

I think Dragon needs another type to resist it. The only pokemon that can come in on a Dragon move is Steel and that isn't enough imo.

As for a Light type it would be WAY to hard to add into the game at this point.
So are you saying that we should change an existing type to counter Dragons or make a new type?

If the prior, then I choose either Fighting or Normal. Because we need a knight to fight dragons.

And if the latter, then that's a double standard.

Reading this topic has actually made me more interested in getting the games. Now if only Game were charging the same for Preowned 3Ds as a New 3Ds I'd be getting somewhere to saving money for this. I might be able to blag one game for my birthday even if they come out up to 28 days before. (Since we have no actually Oct date)

I'm a little bit of a sour puss after BW2's exp issues.

Some pics from the pokemon website. Seems like capture of the video but with slightly better quality.

That statue is a person (most probably a trainer) with a Golurk, a Quagsire, an Eevee and maybe a Koffin

I find it interesting that they havn't showed off any new Pokémon except the Starers and Legends. Of course they want to show people things slowly, but they already seem to have most of the game planed out and the localtions and designs, as you can see there's a statue of previous Pokémon. I wonder if previous Pokémon are going to have more of a rule in this game, relating to the who Eevee thing.

No, it would need to be added to a type we already have. In the conversations I've had with my friends we agree that fighting would be the best choice.

They are always REALLY slow with showing off stuff in the game. It won't be till like April that we start getting any REAL info about the game.

Since the even numbered gens have always had evos for old pokemon we should see a handful of old favs get updated.

Another point for why I think this region's gonna be all of France - the upper-right photo feels more south than north.
The desert in B/W felt like southwestern United States, that's hardly a definitive point.
