DL
When me and Renji were randomizing Pokemon a while ago, to see what to make a tag out of, he got Barboach. He said, there was no way to make Barboach into a good tag. Well f*ck you Renji :3 Not my best work, but I think it's pretty neat. Lighting is bad, tho shading is okay x.x
Catman25
With some better fractal incorporation you could have some nice flow and blending with this piece.
chairman ali
You can make anything look beautiful with the right skills. I am not here to let you down, I am here to give tips and good information. I hope you don't take it the wrong way and think that I am bashing you. It is apparent that you don't have a lot of art knowledge because of the placement and terminology you are using. Mainly, I'd start off telling you why the artwork doesn't work as a whole; lack of proper composition. Let me start by saying that in photography there is a theory–or a rule, rather–that states, "The photo should be split into 3 parts. 2 equally placed horizontal lines and 2 equally placed vertical lines." How would that help? Generally splitting the photo/artwork into 3 parts means that there are 4 points where lines will intersect. Those points are where the eyes are always being dragged to (I do not know why that happens because I haven't done a lot of research on the rule of thirds, I know enough to help people understand it). This means that you want to place your focal point on one of those points. Placing an effect–like you have done–on one of the points won't make the audience look at your main subject (another phrase for Focal point), but rather, they will focus on the effect and leave out the focal. If that was your intention then the effect isn't really an effect, it is your focal point. Another thing I would like to mention is incorporation. Effects need to be built-into. Building into something means you make the effect belong to the subject; make believe. Right now the fractal seems as if it is just a background and not really part of the subject. In an artwork everything needs to work together. This is what builds a good composition.
DL
@Catman - I agree completely. On closer inspection, the fractal is a bit randomly placed. @Alee - You are right, I don't have much knowledge. Well, not superior knowledge. However, Barboach is in one of the focal points as well ...tho I guess, despite the lighting, the bubbles stand out as well.... I should think more about what kinda fractals and c4ds fit my piece, rather than just "bubbles? water pokemon? yeeeah~" ^.^'' Thanks to both of you for the CnC
