Magic: the Sundering

Recommended Posts

Rinne, for Chienah, I was going with the fact that she has just been awake through the destruction and mangling of her human form, and rebuilt into this monstrosity. She just endured excruciating physical trauma, and is in shock, both medical and cultural, now that she's in Ravnica.
Though I have reworked her profile so that she's been in Ravnica a few days, and has recovered a bit from what she's been through.

Work in Progress also I never reserved a green/white creature for Rhox I think that is Aerison I want to reserve this Black/Green/White Spirit (I know its not humanoid but spirits are my favorite from Kamigawa)
Name: Riel, the Unbound
Age: 476
Gender: Female
Species: Spirit
Home Plane: Kamigawa
Class: Summoner
Color(s): Black/Green/White

Appearance: Riel does not stand and as she sort of hovers from the ground. She often floats at the hieght of 5'8 to appear normal to non spirits. She is usually seen with a cloake wrapped around her to avoid the gazes and awes of mankind. Underneathe that cloake however is a wonderous creature. Her overall skin tone is completely brown but half of her has slight green tint to it while the other side is almost darker in color. She has a constantly contracted set of four wings two of the wings resemble that of giant mythical golden bird with pure gold coloring on the outside and red feathers on the inside. Above one of those bird wings Riel will grow a tree or what looks to be like half a tree. Its leaves will be of vibrant green full of life and longevity while above the other wing will be the seemingly other half of the tree which looks the total opposite almost as if it was in the last stages of decay. Even with these two heavy burdens on her back Riel has no problems flying. The over all texture of her body if one were to actually touch it would reveal that she is a tree for all intensive purpose. She does not have pupils her eyes remain a constant glowing white so people easily spot her from a distance at night. Her legs or lack of legs is a tree stump that has been uprooted but instead of the roots being exposed at the bottom it is an odd white flame that keeps her a float. Of course being a super powerful spirit she could manipulate the mana and matierals of her body to look more humanoid such as splitting her tree stump apart and giving her self legs or retracting the giant sets of tree branches that act as her hands. Interesting enough outside of her appendages she has a small tiny frame that some would picture her as 15 yr old young female. Her face is also very human like though half of her face is green and half of it is black but she has all the other facial requirements of a person (nose, chin, ears etc). Her hair is a rather tall afro that completely looks all natural when it is kept up and maintained (by human standards anyway) though sometimes if one was to truely gaze at her hair you could see leaves in there sometimes.

History: Riel started off as a simple tree spirit almost in as if she was practicing nihilism she would spend her days floating around the other more powerful spirits like Kodama, of Center Tree and the body of Jukai if anything one would say that Riel did not do anything with life accept feed off the mana of other spirits. Her days were almost carefree by surrounding herself with the spirit world. Unfortunately she was around for the event that changed all of Kamigawa, Takehashi's raid on the Spirit World this raid lead to the death of many spirits but most notable the stealing of the great O-Kagachi's heart. However during this battle Reil used her powers of growth to kill and subsequently feed off their mana. Shortly after that raid she congratulated herself for living through it, of course she would have to enter battle once again because O-Kagachi has now declared war on the physical realm. During one of the battles at the tail end of the war Riel was not doing so well, the Kitsune had gotten involved.

Mystical fox that resided in the Jukai forest apparently had strong ties with the humans and as came to their aid. And to pour salt on the wound the Kitsune were amazingly adept at killing off spirits. Riel didn't stand a chance, she wasn't even much of a combatant anyway but still she was able to take on humans however the foxes were obliterating her. There she was about to be killed and slaughtered by the blade of a kitsune and then the change happened. Inside her core, which she was completely unaware of, a light swirling light of multiple colors. As it expanded and engulfed the foxes killing them, burying them in the earth, and ascending them into spirits. It was then these new white ethereal spirits engulfed her she was removed from that plane and thrust into another. Interesting fact this happened right before O-Kagachi materialized and shifted the entire war.

By connecting with the trees and nature she was able to replenish her mana, she traveled this new plane and realized it too had spirits. As years went by she would travel the multiverse and bear witness to the many facets of life and wondering what type of mana they wield. As she immersed herself in this site seeing expedition of the multiverse she forgot about her homeland of Kamigawa. Luckily the spirit war conflict had been solved without her assistance. She did make a brief return to Kamigawa only to approach the Myojin of Life's Web to learn what happened and after hearing how the Myojin of Night's Reach was also able to the cross the boundaries of planes she wondered if she was the first planeswalker to be from Kamigawa. So now she travels the multiverse looking for another Kamigawa Planeswalker.

Personality: Reil has the utmost appreciation for life. She loves the vast majority of all organic sentient and non-sentient things. For life is represented by pain, sadness, and tragedy which can be turned into growth and strength. Even the trees though some may not understand their language go through hard times and become mighty oaks and such. Therefore she respects those that live and breathe. In addition to life she loves and cherishes the afterlife or more exactly the act of dying. For dying can signify the end but if fate wills it you could be reborn as a spirit. Reli is quiet and tries to at as the shadow in the corner just watching things live for lack of a better term. Meaning she is very shy and avoids confrontation like the plague. However in the unfortunate event she must battle she overcompensates with an overkill and quite malicious use of her powers. This stems from her really being negatively effected by the Kitsune slaughter.

There are two exceptions to her love of life and have earned her hatred. The first should be obvious are the fox people. It was them that caused her such trama and pain. Sure they are the ones that triggered her spark and led to this great surge of power but still. Her life was pretty mundane till the war and she wasn't all that combative to be at deaths doorstep like that was very traumatizing. Second she has an odd hatred Artifact creatures, more accurately the myrs of Mirrodin. These creatures are an insult to the concept of life, they do not breathe they operate, they do not move with purpose they just have a function. They produce mana artificially which is an insult to mana as it is the essence of life itself.

Magic: Through the 3 different colors she controls Reil can unleash a slew of magic. For her love of life (white) she can do three things: heal, perform barriers, and generate white ethereal bird-like spirits that do battle for her. Her love of the growth and organisms (green) allows her to boost the power of her familiars, and grow land where their may not be any. Finally her combined love for death and the after life and hatred of the foxes allows her to create a swarm of pitch black scarab beetles that surround consume and devour their preys mana and existence and transfer their life essence to Reli herself and she can forcefully inject mana into the recently fallen and give them a second chance at life though it only works for about 30 minutes.

Weapons: The manipulation of her tree like body acts as a weapon.

Well, that was a long delay.

TheFinalFan: Good for me. ACCEPTED.

salseethrough: Raore’s personality is confusing, and I don’t think you integrated its two halves as well as you could have into one cohesive whole. His teleological and white-influenced mindset says that he should be focused on the community, but that seems to overwrite the ambitious aspect of his black mana. To be quite honest, I feel you could cut the white from his mana base without losing much of anything, or at least reprioritize it. Right now, it’s a bit confusingly arranged. (He also feels like he’s stepping on Sorin’s toes in terms of design. On that note, I’m not sure how public Sorin makes his planeswalking ability, so leave that a bit vaguer in Raore’s knowledge up until he planeswalks himself.) PENDING.

.Rai: Reserve noted. I'd have been happy to use the opportunity to further flesh out Arkhos for the project, but it's your choice. >:3

Beginning456: I don't want to be mean, but I'd rather you not use canon characters as your own. Iname has no precedent of being a planeswalker, and I don't want to establish one.

yeah. i realize it sounded like sorin, but i tried to bring the conflict in innistrad to light in roare's perspective, since sorin's says nothing about anything really; thought maybe that'd suffice. I'll see what i can do about his personality. won't be able to get on tomorrow. gonna be on a plane then 4 hr drive. visiting the family for the holidays, but i'll see if i can get the maximum amount of fixing done before my flight.

I still haven't gotten an answer on how long ago the Conflux took place in this story, and I'd like to know that before I continue on Garod's application.

I'm also working on a concept for a second character, but I'd like to know if you would accept a red/black half-devil from Innistrad first. I can send you the details on how it would work over PM if you consider accepting it.

Aesirson: Sorry. Let's say... 10 years.
I'll answer everyone else's questions when I get back.
I'll help confirm this. 10 years after the Conflux essentially puts the events of this RP around the same time as the events of the start of Return to Ravnica (Rise of the Eldrazi has just finished; the events of Innistrad have also just finished).

Just in case this is going to mess with any plot related stuff.

Edited the personality and the history. I feel the personality might still be incomplete for my next attempt of admission. Feel free to comment and the like, Rinne. Reorganized his colors, so that white is the most significant. I'd like to keep all three colors to differ from other white/red and red/black applicants as well as the magical uses for Raore.
Name: Raore Disvell
Age: Appears to be in his late 20's. At least 38 years old.
Gender: Male
Species: Vampire
Home Plane: Innistrad
Class: Rogue-Knight
Color(s): In order of magnitude: White, Black, Red

Appearance: Like most vampires, Raore's complexion is as pale as the porcelain moon that encompasses Innistrad, and his short hair, once jet-black, has soft, snowy patches of greying. His inquisitive, frozen blue eyes are seemingly always shrouded by his furrowed brow, as if aggravated or contemplative. A triangular jaw line surrounds his straight nose and flat mouth, leading to a thin chin. Under his jaw is a thick neck followed by broad shoulders. Well defined musculature is seen throughout his body, primed for any physical altercation. He holds an impressive stance at 6'3", weighing 183 pounds. His upper and lower canines, as well as his nails, elongate at will.

His dress attire maintains a somewhat royal appearance, featuring: Double buckled leather boots reaching to just below the kneecaps; beige cotton trousers fitted close to the skin; a black leather belt adorned with a large copper buckle; a fine, white silk blouse worn with the collar open and splayed out; a black vest with dull silver floral-esque design, held together by marble buttons and a thick white lace; a long, black, tailored leather overcoat lined with black wolf fur at the collar, with slits in the tail to produce three ends, the middle being the thicker and longer. Armor includes light carbon-steel chest plating and arm braces, embossed with the holy symbol of Avacyn, that have dulled in shine with age.

Personality: Raore will do what he must and ensure that what must be done is so. He firmly believes the end justifies the means. There is a common good, a goal worth achieving, a peace that will come, but more often than not necessities come forth from darkness and turmoil, and hardships and sacrifices must be endured and made to gain what is desired. He isn't afraid of making them and is unashamed of his actions. For what is the suffering of few compared to the benevolent existence of many? To him, a beautiful conclusion is worth the tarnished journey.

There are many who do not agree with this perspective, and Raore typically deems them ignorant and irrational. There's no place in a chaotic Multiverse for those who wish to save and ensure the happiness of all who are deserving, and they anger Raore. They do not see universal law: the stronger punishes the weaker, and the willing outdo the reluctant. Out of better judgement, he prefers to have minimal interaction with these types, lest they see all of Raore's colors.

Before Raore new the hidden truth of Innistrad, he was greedy and self-centered like all black aligned, but it has been skewed by his history. Those traits have evolved into ambition, his desire for power stemming from his need to save his plane. He's witnessed what happens to the powerless and feels it is his responsibility to obtain the prowess to bring prosperity, no matter what the cost.

Relationships with him can be strenuous as he unintentionally pushes the limits of empathic and social behavior. He won't hold a large amount of concern for another unless there is some interest, something that tells Raore he'd want their association, but those who are close to Raore will find a loyal companion, willing to do anything in his grasp for them.

History: All was well in Innistrad, given the angle you're speculating. In their manor, the Disvell family was prosperous. Extravagance and pleasure was in abundance, and Raore was among it. He delighted in the festivities. Being born in such a life, this was his normalcy. The villagers from the surrounding villages payed their homage, and the demons outlined the outskirts, if only for similar interests. Humans, be it for entertainment or sustenance, and thus a deal between two evils was struck. The vampire family would elate in the people's sacrifice, and the demons would indulge themselves on humanity's suffering. Prosperous, yes. And that is how Innistrad remained for many, many years. It was so for twenty-seven years of Raore's near-immortal life.

As of late, the human struggle for existence among the monstrosities of Innistrad has been feigning. Their faith in their angels was declining as the human population dwindled. Roare found himself feeling pity for the humans. He thought them simple creatures, with no sizable measure of strength or intellect. All they had was their will, and that's what Roare felt sorry for the most. The humans, despite everything, kept trying. In the face of a renegade demon, they did not offer themselves, giving in to it's overpowering might. Yet, they would fail against the darkness. The humans were losing this fight.

Raore made many attempts to bring his thoughts to light. The human suffering was too great. Eventually, they would die out. Where will the vampires go for sustenance, and worse, who would the demons turn to for their entertainment? Raore's preaching was rebutted by the royal blooded, saying vampires only needed and took a small number of the human populace and their deal with the demons was still strong and holding. Both vampire and demon needed the human, and therefore maintained a delicate balance. Raore was not so easily persuaded, for he listened to the doomsayers who depicted the human plight and watched the hunters of the supernatural consistently fail again and again. This balance was a rouse, and so he continued his crusade.

Before a week's time since Raore had stared his escapade, he was forcefully abducted from his room. Raore immediately thought that human's had somehow broken into the manor and were finally punishing the wicked, but there wasn't much time for thought. In seconds Raore was struck across the face.

After being knocked unconscious at his captors' convenience, he came to on their approach to a godless shrine. His initial thought was that humans had somehow overtaken his home, and was now issuing their justice, but when he looked upon his captors, he saw vampires. Vampires. Why? On his attempt to speak, Raore was put out again. The next time he awoke, he was chained to a wall. A wall of a blood crypt. Corpses littered the ground, and the smell of rot permeated the air, making it thick. Roare screamed in terror and refusal. He wasn't the only one there. Others were among the dead, hung on the walls, from the ceiling. Moments afterwards, the composers of this putrid agony emerged: Demons. Each went to a different victim, entertaining themselves in the captive's torture. Raore met eyes with his torturer. The demon approached him, its broken face appearing to have a grotesque smile, and it released Raore. The demon said in an indescribable voice, "flee", as its face twisted into a smirk. Raore knew this demon wanted to see his struggle for freedom, his attempts, but he also knew there was no way for him to make it so. Still, he couldn't help himself as he crawled into a corner of the chamber. The demon slowly made his way towards Raore, never blinking, never averting his gaze from Raore's eyes.

This was his death, Raore thought. To be sold by his own kind, for opening his mouth against the royal family, for the appeasement of demons to maintain an image of prosperity among his race. The demon grasped Raore's scalp, and something amazing happened. [acronym='Depiction of Blasphemous Act']A red aura emitted from Raore and filled the room, touching everyone before dissipating. The demons slaughtered their captives, and then continued, killing themselves. [/acronym]

Raore had no idea what happened and didn't know what would happen next. In time, he realized he planeswalked. To the plane of Zendikar specifically. He had appeared amongst a primitive looking village, of which the residents were vampires. The locals knew what Raore was before he even realized it. He was a Planeswalker, and his Spark just ignited. After a time, he learned he wasn't the first vampire to planeswalk to Zendikar; a vampire named Sorin had visited here numerous times, lending his hand to the civilizations of this plane against god-like beings known as the Eldrazi. Spending almost two decades in this plane before properly learning to traverse the planes, he'd seen the Eldrazi first hand, fought against them, prevailed. In time, Raore masters his ability to walk through the Blind Eternities and returns to Innistrad. Angels have returned now, rallying the peasants, bathing them in hope, but the demonic rising is stronger than ever. Now that Raore knows the truth that skews the image of his home plane, he'll do anything capable to bring true prosperity to Innistrad.

Magic: Raore's arsenal of magic is as multifaceted as his complex personality. His white magic fortifies his will as if by divine prowess. With it, he can beguile the will of humans, destroy mechanisms and relics, abolish enchantments and curses, and even banish living creatures from existence. His black magic is dominantly aimed at instantly ridding enemies, be it by destruction or sacrifice. His black creatures, though not as volatile or powerful as demons, are more cunning: Vampires that can take flight, bleed the life of adversaries, or kill with the slightest touch. The red magic he utilizes devastates multiple foes with sheer ferocity and aggression. Red vampires, while not as hasty or brutal as other red creatures, are more tactical, empowering themselves in riotous cooperation.

Weapons: A silver decorated rapier and matching dagger, and a light steel-reinforced, wooden crossbow. Fangs and nails.
Beginning446: First of all, being from Kamigawa means you have no excuse to have a non-Japanese name, like Riel. Additionally, please proofread your writing in the future. There are a few spelling errors that are consistent and should be easy to notice (the misspelling of “cloak,” amongst others), and the constant use of future tense in the appearance section makes it difficult to visualize. You also abuse run-on sentences.

Now, onto the contents themselves. I’m very hesitant to accept this application at all, because the appearance is still almost a direct ripoff of Iname as One, and the personality suggests much of the same. She’s also rather two-dimensional, in that she’s all “life! life! life!” I’m also greatly confused by Riel’s role in the role (she gets involved in the opening battle, but then what?) In short, DENIED. I’d still like you to apply to the RP, but I don’t think this is the right character for you. Feel free to reapply.

Aesirson: Why’d you change to white/red from white/green? Flavor-wise, rhox would make much more sense in the latter and have no precedent of being in the former. Additionally, I’ve already accepted a white/red planeswalker and have another in the wings, so to have a third so quickly really marginalizes later choices. I’d really like you to reconsider. I’ll review more fully after you give a response.

salseethrough: Much better. However, since Innistrad vampires are not natively white, add some sort of event into his history that explained how his mana got transformed. Other than that, you’re good. PENDING.

ATTENTION. UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE, ANY CHARACTERS FINISHED AFTER THIS POST CANNOT BE WHITE. (And thanks, Rai.)

Yay! Now to begin work with my second character...
Name: Hilda Re
Age: 21
Gender: Female
Species: Half-devil, half-human
Home Plane: Innistrad
Class: Trickster
Color(s): Red and black
Appearance: Hilda's true appearance is that of a young, red-skinned woman with a pair of horns sprouting out of her forehead. She has long, dirty black hair and a pair of orange glowing eyes. She's quite short and she has an agile body type. She wears a typical, black Innistradian leather coat that has a noble appearance, representing her origins. She does also have fangs that are larger than an average human, due to her being a half-devil. Her right cheek bears a burn in the shape of the emblem of house Culpa of Innistrad, a C turned 90 degrees to look like a hood.

However, half-devils are not commonly accepted within society, so she has learned the art of magical disguise, turning her into a more human woman. In this form she wears no visible scars, her eyes are bright blue and her skin is pale. Devilish attributes such as the fangs and horns are also gone. She cannot use any kind of magic in this shape as it breaks the disguise.
Personality: While not an evil creature, Hilda have a cruel sense of humour, and she would not hesitate to cause a little pain as long as it enjoys her. Despite this, she is human enough to not severly harm any innocent, and she is extremely strict not to lethally wound anyone except those who she thinks deserve it. As you probably already understand she is a good guy, but she's very chaotic and she have no respect for buildings, nature or anything non-sentient that might come in her way when she is determined to reach her goal.

She is also a very playful person, but as has already been mentioned not everyone appreciates her jokes. She's not affraid to use her, let's call them feminine aspects, to get what she wants, something that she learnt from the female Revan vampires. Speaking of the vampires, while she hold no grudge against them since they took care of her when no one else would she does not agree with what they do. She thinks that undeath is completely unnatural, and even though she is a practioneer of black magic she utterly refuses to use any kind of necromancy, another aspect that remain from her human origins.
History: At an almost forgotten place in innistrad there lied a village controlled by the noble house of Culpa, and belonging to this house was the young and seemingly innocent girl called Mea. In fact, she was the daughter and only child to the head of the house, and as such she was destinied to marry another noble and become the new head of the house. However, one night she was seduced by a servant boy, and let's just say she wasn't so innocent anymore since that night.

Unfortunately for the girl, she became pregnant, and as she was supposed to be pure upon marriage, she tried to hide it from everyone within the village. As months passed her pregnancy became more and more apparent, and the villagers started to whisper about the possibility of a virgin pregnancy. The village had for a long time been terrorized by a tribe of vampires, the Revan, who lived in the nearby swamp, and they believed that the virginborn child was a savior sent by Avacyn herself to save the village. The child was born, a girl who was given the name Hilda.

When Mea gave birth to Hilda there were no signs of Hilda's true identity as her mana instinctively disguised her as a human child, and not even Mea knew about her father's true identity as a disguised devil just looking to cause trouble. Hilda grew up as a noble should, but she was a lot wilder than the other kids, and she was also a big bully. As she entered her teenage years, her mother started to suspect things about Hilda. She told her father about the situation, and the truth about Hilda's birth. Her father was outrageous, but since he loved his granddaughter he told Mea to keep Hilda, as she was still her daughter and a human.

Some days later, the rumour about Hilda not being a virginborn child started to spread, and Mea and her father suspected that a servant had heard their discussion and spread the word. Mea, dorwned in shame, went against her father's words and lead Hilda into the swamps on a "field trip". She started a fight with her daughter on purpose, knowing that Hilda as a rebellious teenager would walk away on her own, and the mother quickly went back to the village, hoping to never see the child again and telling the villagers that Hilda was killed by a savage beast.

Meanwhile, Hilda met with a group of hunting vampires. Her initial reaction was to attack them, revealing her true identity. The vampires saw her potential and convinced her to join them, telling her that the human world had abandoned her. Hilda, still furious about her mother, accepted and was taken to the vampire's castle, where she stayed for many years training in both the arts of black and red magic. At times she got homesick, but those feelings quickly went away when she heard what her mother had told the villagers from a vampire scout. When she was 20, the vampires decided that it was time for her to exact her revenge on the humans.

She and a band of vampires attacked the village, burning it and many of the inhabitants to cinder. Hilda looked and looked but she was unable to find any sign of her mother, but she did find her grandfather's diary in the burned remains of the Culpa mansion, which is where she read about how devestated he was when his daughter had told him about Hilda's fate. Hilda suddenly saw the error of what she had done, looked at herself in the shards of a shattered mirror and realized what a monster she was. She cried and ran to the barn, where she found a branding iron wearing the sigil of her house. She took the iron, heated it and pressed it against her face to mark herself with a sign that she was, and would forever be, a human. However, the pain caused by the branding iron caused her spark to ignite, sending her flying through the multiverse and landing in Lorwynn.

Having heard tales about the planeswalker Sorin from the vampires, Hilda instantly knew what had just happened, and she have since then decided to dedicate her life to help humanity in any plane possible, not caring what or who she burns along the way.
Magic: She's a trickster, so she uses her red and black magic to inflict pain and to be plain annoying. Her main shape of attack is to either throw small whips of fire or to summon devils to do the same. She is also able to inflict her opponents with curses, and she has also learnt a small bit of sangromancy during her time with the Revan Vampires.
Weapons: Only her fangs and claws
As Rinne know I have almost her entire history planned out, but I don't have time to write it down right now. This will be done sometime early this week.

As in, white skin with a black star marking.
... really, making him black-skinned makes him more unique, besides, there isn't much on Moonfolk so of course there's no precedent.
Let's say some strange magic occurrence made him born that way and it also happened to give him a strong affinity to black. Can I?
