Hmm...Now that you mention the eventual fates of the characters, I am wondering what Serah's fate should be.
Should she somehow be alive after Cocoon was taken? Or maybe she's become a sentient Heartless a la Fake Ansem?
Also, as a suggestion for anyone wanting to make a second character, make Snow. That would be awesome.

Was thinking about making Snow actually. I think I mentioned that earlier too .3.

As for Serah, I think you should make her alive til Lightning and Snow if I add him find her and then she becomes a Heartless similar to how she became a l'cie in XIII Just my thinking xD

Well, my Lightning is sort of post-XIII Lightning, but pre-XIII-2 Lightning, so Snow would have to be along the same lines.
I was going to start writing a flashback to Serah and Snow's wedding getting interrupted by the Heartless invasion.
And if Serah becomes a Heartless throughout the plot, should she be totally irredeemable and just a monstrous being, or does she still have part of her self left, and is struggling against her new nature? I might even include a Heartlessified Mog.

I'm gonna guess that Shuren's now gonna have a lot more problems with acceptance than the others. Incidentally, why was he chosen to be the one to go to the dark side anyways? o.o I was honestly trying to model him a bit more like Sora xD
With a past like his, he was bound to be slightly darker. Have a darker sora, struggling with darkness in his heart and slight distancing from Balthazar (Perhaps the other apprentices as well, but idk), which would over all make him a much deeper and better character, I think. More personality than sora, at any rate.

Yeah, he's gonna be a darker Sora, but I didn't intent him to be that dark xD Besides, how you described him makes him seem somewhat more like Terra, andI thought giving Shuren a move like Salvation would point him more in the light direction .3. I dunno, I was going for the whole 'suffering breeds goodness' or something along those lines and I didn't plan on turning him dark .3. I guess we'll just see how things turn out xD

I kinda feel like Serah wouldn't let herself become a Heartless that easily and would be fighting against it the whole time. That's just me though.

I haven't played FFXIII that much (To me, the gameplay was quite crappy in the first one, which in turn put me off the second one Though I have a friend who says that the second one is much better), but from what I gather Serah isn't the kind of person to even become a heartless. Y'know, like Kairi and the disney princesses and such. Pure hearts and all that crap.

FFXIII-2 is so much better. Everything bad in the first is redeemed. There's actual exploration, the story is really comprehensible, they include little "last time" featurettes every time you start up the game to briefly recap what you were doing last, they use a cool Pokemon-like mechanic where you can capture monsters and use them as your third party member, the time-travel plot is well put together and has 7 different alternate endings other than the main one, Hope (the whiny little emo kid who wanted to kill Snow for inane reasons) becomes a total badass, and Vanille (the annoying girl whose whinyness resulted in the events of the game) is all but gone, save for a brief cameo.
The exploration was my favorite part. It's actually encouraged, and you can't beat one of the bosses without finding a secret switch hidden in some ruins.
Plus, having a Chocobo as your third party member is incredibly enjoyable!
At least rent it for a weekend. You most likely won't regret it.

Anyways, aside from gushing over Thirteen-Two, Serah is rather Princessy...maybe she's one of a new set of Princesses of Heart?

I say stole because that's James' opinion. He actually merely found it outside the store and took it home, despite having the inclination that it belonged to the store/store owner. He didn't steal it per sey. He merely believes that he did.
No, I'm referring to the fact that it came from the store. Balthazar may be a lot of things, but I'm sure he would have notice an encantus missing.

As for Serah being a Princess of Heart, sure.

I already decided that both of them are Goofy. James and Shuren are Donald, because Viola is Sora.

Wait, James stole the encantus from the store?
Trevor = Goofy?

Would've at least thought he would've been like Ventus or a polar opposite version of Riku xD Jk Roxas!

And I'm half expected Viola to turn into some really b*tchy b*tch and start messing with all of the guys, breaking their hearts and stuff and pitting them all against each other. xD Lovey-dovey's too cliche and mainstream.
Lovey with Viola never turns out lovey-dovey~ Trust me. It'll always end up more like Katawa Shoujo (estranged).

You guys are all getting fooled with her personality too easily. :P

Anyway, just think about it. In a way. Ryan is the helpful guy, the one to go to when times get hard, so keep it in mind if you ever choose who'll be the one Viola has feelings for.
Ryan would be friendzoned. That's how reality works here, he practically screams 'friendly and supportive 24/7!!!'. But maybe he could become a Davis Bloome sort of character...er, how do I say this? He develops feelings for her and gets jealous of the guy(s) that Viola fell for, and tries to push himself into that love triangle, making things a lot more complicated. His original character would get stripped away as he becomes more and more obsessed... He might even be the catalyst for Shuren going evil, or Viola getting consumed by a Heartless!

Now that's a good story.

That might work, because Shuren would need to kill the Heartless version of her, then through his studies of the Keyblade and magic learn of Xehanort and how he returned by having his body and his heart (Heartless and Nobody. Anybody else see what they did there?) destroyed, leading him to hunt down Viola's Nobody and destroy it whilst using Kingdom Hearts to bring her back. There's the plot for the sequel right there xD

But they're both still Viola, aren't they? Heartless Viola would still have her feelings for him (and would probably be blatantly direct, if only twisted, about them), and Vlaxoi would probably join the Organization to help achieve Kingdom Hearts so she can regain her heart. They'd both look just like her too. Could he really bring himself to kill her, twice?

Hah, you assume that what Kreix has planned will give you the chance for that happy ending. Although I will admit I'm having trouble making him evil. Either I'm not good at making despicable villains or, once his backstory is revealed to our heroes, he'll be too sympathetic. Lexamus and Haxz are pretty much the only other Nobodies that can be qualified as evil anyway. Xelo has a goal similar to Kreix, while Marcos is [s]Mugen's way of making commentary on the more questionable aspects of the Kingdom Hearts universe[/s] still trying to figure what he even is, and Nehryx is pretty much content with just working for Kreix.
