After talking about The New 52 in the "Favorite Teen Titans" poll, I decided I might as well just make a thread for it. If you want to talk about pre-Flashpoint stories, then go ahead.

The only DC comics I have are the Ratchet & Clank and inFamous comics, while from The New 52 I have Nightwing, I, Vampire; Demon Knights, and Justice League Dark. Out of the pre-Flashpoint continuity, stories I plan to read include Knightfall, The Death and Return of Superman, Zero Hour, and Infinite Crisis. I also read the first trade of Morrion's Batman & Robin, which I liked. My favorite heroes are Batman and The Flash, Wally West in particular thanks to his appearances in the Justice League and Teen Titans cartoons.

As for The New 52 itself, let's start with the books I have. Nightwing and I, Vampire are the best of the bunch, although I'm sad the the latter will most likely be cancelled by February, since that's when the solicits for the twentieth issues will be out. Demon Knights is fun, although I have varying feelings on the cast. Justice League Dark is the weakest, and I await Rise of the Vampires and Lemire's run, since I'm a tradewaiter, although I will say that thanks to this book and I, Vampire, I'm now a fan of John Constantine.

I'm disappointed that Barry Allen is the lead of The Flash, since I still need to read some Wally comics, but I'll give Barry a shot. Conversely, I'm totally okay with Barbara Gordon as Batgirl. It's because of Wally that I sympathize with fans of Stephanie Brown and Cassandra Cain. Red Hood and the Outlaws can die in a fire, and the Young Justice line of books is so pathetic that they either need to give it a new book and fast or just kill it off already. The Batman and the Dark lines interest me the most, but that should be obvious from my choice of books. I don't care for the Edge, but I hear it's gotten better. I'm not the biggest Superman fan either, although people have recommended Action Comics. For Green Lantern, I definitely want to read New Guardians and maybe the main book, although Geoff Johns really needs to stop with all these sequential events. It doesn't help that I expect Wrath of the First Lantern to be immediately followed by Trinity War. The Justice League line is kind of 50/50 for me, although since I've been enjoying watching Arrow, I'll pick up Green Arrow once Lemire and Sorrentino take over.

So yeah, discuss.

Saw what happened in that thread. Lol at the Lobdell rants.

Anyway, pre New52 books I own are mostly Batman's. Knightfall, The Killing Joke, Hush,The Long Halloween and Black Mirror. Others would be JLA: Tower of Babel, All Star Superman, DC: The New Frontier, Gotham Central and Unknown Soldier. While these are Vertigo titles, they were included in the official DCU canon - Sandman, Lucifer and Hellblazer(Right until the Brightest day aftermath then Constantine no longer count as a DCU character except for the watered down conjob version)

As for the New52, the ones I'm religiously buying are Batman(except for issue 12 and the annual), Swap Thing(My girlfriend goes for Animal Man so the Rot crossover are accounted for but it's been draging for such a long time...), I, Vampire(This book is just amazing. Really wish they won't pull off the plug on this book. JLD has enough members already) , Justice League Dark(Lame title though but it's been a good read and Lemire just took it to another level with this book. Wished it has a better art. Always hated the shinning sunny day summer art especially for a dark book.) and that's about it.

Few other New52 books I'm reading are Teen Titan. It's fun, that's all which is sad since a TT can do so much better if given the right writer. Lobdell is writing this book like a trashy version of the X-men, replacing mutants with metahuman and everything is average at best but it's still a fun read. Superman is surprising good(Well issue 0 and 13 onward). Justice League is 50/50 for me too. Ironically, I'm more excited for the SHAZAM back up more than the actual JL story. Read a few issues Green Lantern but my friend drop the book so I stop as well since I'm borrowing them. Red Hood is an ok read. From times to times the character do get out of character and the hell is Roy using Arsenal identity? Red Hood might be my favorite of the new identity from any of the old Robins. The only reason why I'm continue to read em. And lastly, Talon. It's just awesome.

Other stuff, couldn't really care for the Edge titles but I heard Team 7 is good. I like most of the character from Stormwatch but I'll probably just wait for the trade. Batgirl has it's up and down and I'm just indifferent about this title and Batwoman. Flash is ok. I loved Barry Allen and the way he died was very tragic but I would prefer Wally West. Green Arrow is just atrocious. I really love the character but they deaged him to gain more appeal from fans of Arrow. Making him as a ripoff of Tony Stark/Bruce Wayne is another mistake. I think the approach of GA is bad due the concept that is being presented, there is nothing here but some vigilante who uses arrows, that’s all, and Green Arrow is way more than that, we need to see the man behind the bow rather than just an imitation of Bruce Wayne or Iron Man. DC could have perfectly used this chance to tell a story from Oliver Queen to rival with Bruce Wayne on Miller’s Batman Year One, a new origin that relies on the character’s strength.

Anyway, you mention that your not a fan of John Constantine. He happened to be my favorite character of all times. The bastard trick the devil into curing his cancer for him, save the world unintentionally and all that jazz but I agree with you about the New52 version. He's to watered down which made him more of an annoying prick more than the real badass he is. Read Hellblazer and you can see the difference between the two. Also, I'll be forever bitter that DC is pulling the plug on Hellblazer and replace it with a solo title in the New52 as Constantine.

Oops, I meant that I'm now a fan of Constantine. If there's any character Justice League Dark made me not like, it's Madame Xanadu. I'll be reading his New 52 ongoing because I actually do like this take on the character, but I'll read Hellblazer since it's apparently been very good. I understand that people are going to be upset with the loss of Hellblazer

Lemire has said that Andrew won't be a member in Justice League Dark anymore, which is fine considering the events of I, Vampire, although I would like Amethyst to be on the team. He's said that it will have some members always be on the team, but there will be some rotation. In regards to Rotworld, it isn't going to be over until March, at which point Snyder finishes his run on the title.

I'm probably still bitter at how tone down Constantine is in the New52. But in Hellblazer, they did hint a dysfunctional romance between Constantine and Zatanna so I love how they actually showed that to us in issue#0.

After Sandman and Lucifer, Hellblazer's the only one of the big three from Vertigo is still standing which is sad it's ending. And I'll be pissed if they're cancling I, Vampire, Joshua Hale Fialkov's a great writer. He needs to be on more books, maybe on the new Constantine on-going or Demon Knights since Paul Cornell's leaving to writer for another wolverine book. Don't get me wrong Robert Venditti, who'll be writing both of the title is a good writer and X-O Manowar is a fun read but he can get a bit convoluted at times like Morrison do sometimes.

Wait...is Snyder leaving Swamp Thing?

A romance between Constantine and Zatanna was hinted early on. I like it, although aside from people not liking Zatanna's role in the book, I was curious if people didn't like the idea of the two of them being together.

Yes, it was confirmed that both Snyder and Paquette are leaving. Snyder himself said so here here.

Hmm, I wonder who from Image will be taking the reigns. I'll place my first bet on Brandon Seifert, second bet goes to Joe Harris. They usually give the Dark title to a writer from either Image or Vertigo.

Never knew I would found a topic about american comic here. Who knew.

Don't know who those two are but it would be more logical if they use writer from Vertigo to write the Dark title. Azzarello would be perfect to write Swamp Thing after Snyder.

I don't like to delve too far into comics as I rarely read them but some of the ones I thoroughly enjoyed are mostly from DC and if I had to name some of my favorites it would be...
Watchmen
The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen
Final Crisis

As for the New 52 I can honestly say that the only comic I pay attention to at this point would be Red Hood and the Outlaws. I have so much freaking fun with that comic it ain't even funny.

Funny you should mention that because BleedingCool reported that James Tynion IV will be taking over that book. Despite me being among those annoyed at Starfire's characterization and haven't cared to learn how it's gotten better, I must say that him taking over is a very welcome change, assuming it's true. It would be like Lemire and Sorrentino taking over Green Arrow.

Damn, that's awesome. That's a welcoming change since RHATO was a fun read but it got stale during almost the end of the tamaraian arc...and a better artist.

Based on those titles, I would recommend you read some of Vertigo's title. Pre 2005 or 2003(I forgot...), the vertigo universe and the DCU used to be one big universe while most of the Vertigo titles cater more to mature storytelling but now Vertigo are home for creator own universe story. Watchmen is one of the big vertigo titles. Others would be like Sandman by Neil Gaiman and American Vampire by Scott Snyder. They're great and kinda have the HBO tv show feel to em.

I get that it can be nitpicky and even seem butthurt to get upset if certain creative liberties are taken, but as someone who bases his interest with DC characters on the DC Animated Universe and the Teen Titans cartoon, I joined in on those that were infuriated with the first issue, even if I really don't have much grounds to complain about it since I didn't read the issue. I liked when she was given a new outfit for her arc, even if I have seen some people who do have a point about the outfit not working for her, but I had to laugh when Lobdell said he had to keep her in the outfit despite what he wanted.
