VictorSempra
Not sure if this would be the correct place to put this, but not sure where else it might go. I started a project recently, after talking to some of my college buddies. The idea was simple: Take Soul Calibur, and make a DND-esque version of it. I believe I have managed to do so in a VERY simplified prototype, and here it is: [b][background=transparent]Health: Die roll for starting health determined by “Soul,” every consecutive level a player gains 1d6 health[/background] [background=transparent]Skills are determined by rolling 4D6, minus the lowest roll. Bonuses are: 10-11: +0 12-13: +1 14-15: +2, and so on.[/background] [background=transparent]Attack/Strength: Bonus applies to damage, and to hit rolls.[/background] [background=transparent]Defense: Bonus added to your armor value, also to “interrupt” rolls[/background] [background=transparent]Speed: Bonus used for determining combat order. Speed bonus also used to determine number of back-to-back attacks, or “combos”.[/background] [background=transparent]Base Combo determined by “Soul”. Speed bonus helps determine “Initiave”, or order of combat. Every three levels, a player rolls 1d4 and adds their speed bonus. If the result is higher, the player gains 1 Combo.[/background] [background=transparent]Each consecutive attack in a combo has a decreasing modifier, determined by the “Soul”. Player also gain bonuses based on the “Soul”[/background] [background=transparent]IVY[/background] [background=transparent]Health: 1d10[/background] [background=transparent]Attack: +2 To base stat[/background] [background=transparent]Defense: +1 To base stat[/background] [background=transparent]Speed: +0 to base stat[/background] [background=transparent]Base Defense: 10 without armor Great Unclean One: VK
You're working on this alone? Go find other people who are interested and join up and work together. If you want this homebrew up and running, you'll need a team. I'm uptight because I'm hard on myself and others when it comes to making stuff. Something this small, won't really count as a prototype. It's a nice start, but what you sound like what you want, is just a splatbook. Something to add on to D&D. Hell, do that BEFORE making your own engine and system. You gotta test for what's OPed, what's UPed, and what's abuse able.

.Rai
From reading a prototype, I should be able to, straight away, figure out what's happening, how to play etc. I don't know what's happening here, but there are many terms that confuse me. I can only assume they are all D&D terms, and I have near to no knowledge of that so I don't know how I can help you, outside of improving the clarity of your prototype. And, also, you could have put it in Video Games. That's what most game designers here do.

Great Unclean One: VK
You've got a long road ahead of yourself. Game design is a cruel and unforgiving b****. If I shown this to some game designer, he'll f***ing b**** slap you. Comfort you on the effor- Wait no, you didn't even do the basic of explaining every single damn term. Explain what the f*** each term means. Soul, attack, defense, etc. You have to explain it so if someone new to RPGs could understand them. Don't just throw them out there you dolt. Hell, even I had the common sense of explaining every damn term in my RPG like what Realm or Saga means.
.Rai
1d6? 4d6? etc. (I assume it's a dice roll reference, perhaps 1 6-sided die). I get the general gist of it, and it comes off as a very simply combat-oriented game. It looks simple, but not elegant however. Probably needs a lot of cleaning up, and figuring out how to make the game both easier to understand for newbies and easier to play. It's probably even more problematic for me, because I've never played Soul Caliber either
Great Unclean One: VK
Not to mention you've only put combat stuff. What about stuff for diplomacy? Bartering? Scouting? Crafting? You need more man.

There are dice with four side, six sides, eight sides, ten, twelve, twenty, so on. That's a standard way for tabletop games to write them, its (amount)dice(value), so 1d6 means to roll one six sided die and use the result. Any others? Great Unclean One: VK
Another thing is the fact you have ignored another important thing. You forgot stuff or stats that relates to the character, example given, size. Let's say you have a huge wrestler dood. He should gain bonuses relating to strength and what not while getting a penalty to mobility.

Great Unclean One: VK
You asked for help and I'm giving it to you and you call it harassment. Fine, f*** it. You refused to see reason in valid criticism about how sparse and bare your current plans are and I should have just quit. Enjoy making a CURRENTLY poorly thought idea.
