"Screw the Rules" Card #1: Darkness Approaches

Severely low in power and with a cost so steep that the only time it will ever see play is as a joke in Empty Jar. Quite personally, I feel this card could have been perfectly fine printed with no cost at the time of its creation, though now empty jar would get too much of a boost in my opinion.

As any experienced YGO player might know, when a monster is face-down, it's supposed to be in defense position. Every single card that puts a monster face-down specifies this, and it's in the rules. The same goes for if a face-down monster's position is changed, it will move to face-up attack position, not stay face-down. However, Approaching Darkness gave itself an exception. Face-down monsters can now be in attack position, though only by this card's effect. Which means when they are flipped face-up by an attack, they use their ATK value, not their DEF, and they can destroy the opponent's monster. When its battle position is changed, it also stays face-down instead of flipping, though then if its position is changed again it will be flipped face-up.

In summary, this card says "Screw the rules! I am the night!"

I always wondered about switching it to defense, but can it be flip summoned? :P
Card is weird, but more "Flip into Face-down attack" cards would be cool combined with a shifting shadow-like card (That let face-down attack position mosnters also change) to make people confused :U

If it is in face-down Attack position, its position cannot be changed.

So the card is officially like a Spellbinding Circle?
If so, I facepalm at not using it back when it was newly printed. Everyone always had 4+ cards in hand and could hardly go lower than that.

Unless you meant manually.

Man, wouldn't it be nice if Konami made a whole archetype based on flipping to Face Down attack position? They made Flip Effects Great again (dolls), they made Rituals great again (Nekroz) they made f***ing Unions Great again (ABC)

Please do this Konami

Wasn't there an anime only archtype that did that?

Also as sad as it is to say, when was the last time Konami listened to their fans?
