Pokemon Legacy OOC

Recommended Posts

Welcome to the Pokemon Legacy Out of Character Planning thread. This is a roleplay with a twist! Here, you get a Pokemon at the beggining as you join, and you can level it up with post EXP! When a Pokemon has points equal to it's level, the Pokemon levels up and all EXP on it is removed. Who will reach level 100 first? Your first Pokemon must be any of the three main starter Pokemon from any main region (Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh or Unova).
You are a new trainer living in the Oran region who wants to be the Pokemon league champion. Fair enough, pretty normal. But what twists shall come? With N being seen in Lotus City, anything could happen. Are his intentions good, or bad? He had been spotted by a man wearing robes who saw him flying on his Zekrom. It was al over the news. This person had a legendary Pokemon! Then, a lovely place known as Petal Town was attacked by N's Zekrom. The place is now a hideous ruin. And you lived there. You don't just want to bethe champion, you want to defeat N.

Whenever you post, your Trainer Data should be available fo all to see. I suggest putting the data in your signature. Every post, change your trainer data to suit your Pokemon's EXP and level. Every post, you get a P$ (Or whatever the Pokemon currency is, lets just call it that). You can give these to your Pokemon in the form of EXP, or if you save them up, you can buy items from the Poke Mart! If you get EXP equal to your Pokemon's level, remove all EXP and gain a level! Your Pokemon can learn all moves that it would usually learn by levelling up (Only latest movesets apply).

Here is my Trainer Data. Most should look something like this.

Lucas Ocean
GENDER: Male
AGE: 13

PERSONALITY: Lucas thinks of himself as the ultimate trainer. He resembles Paul from Sinnoh League Victors because he is always cool, calm and collected. He is always one step ahead of his rivals, always seeming to snag the Oran badges quickly (Or he suspects that will happen). However, Lucas happens to have strong feelings for his friends and is nice if you get to know him. He is very intelligent in both strategy and academics.

PARTY:

Totodile @ None
EXP: 0

Scratch
Leer

BAG:
None
We will start when we have say, two people not counting me. We accept anybody. All rules may change at any time, but I will try to warn you all.

For a good quality RP, I would get rid of the Technicalities about stuff like the post for Exp stuff. Not only does that promote short-posting as opposed to quality posts, it is slightly unfair for those in awkward time zones; it would result in many pages of RP over night and would leave them far behind others.

I know a friend called Champster who had a good Idea for these kinds of things, where he gave certain objectives and when they were completed he gave out certain amounts of money. You could do similar with the Exp/Money thing, but it requires lots of Host interaction and activity, and can be quite slow.
Generally, Pokémon RPs work best without the money/exp rules, with just posting and stuff. If people are sensible and fair, it can result in a well balanced, well made RP.

But, if you can work on the layout of this RP, I might consider joining. My love of Pokémon has gone on a recent increase, and I cant help but wish to join lots of Pokémon things. So if this improved, I would consider joining.

EDIT

"Whenever you post, your Trainer Data should be available fo all to see. I suggest putting the data in your signature. Every post, change your trainer data to suit your Pokemon's EXP and level."
Again, too much of a hassle. This is not good for good writing; good writing already takes a lot of time and effort; this will not help.

I was inspired by a Pokemon club that does a similair thing, with EXP and all of that. It is quite popular. How does THAT do so well?

I know the Club; Pokémon Legion? That's successful because it isn't an RP; a club is about the posting and whatnot. Besides, it's taken me 2 weeks worth of posting in that club to gain 2 levels.
And RP isn't like that. It is based on detailed posts and descriptions of actions, and the story moves along at quite a pace, meaning that you could go through 3 gyms in 6 posts (albeit, that's not a great RP plot wise, but meh). That doesn't give you chance to level up.
Plus, it basically advertises short-posting, rather than long, thought-out posts. In an RP, a 3 paragraph post is generally better than a 1 paragraph post. But if you do this, then people will do three 1 paragraph posts, which isn't as good - not as much detail. In Clubs and organisations, there's going to be lots of fast conversation, but obviously there'll be no story to it, which means there can be lots of posting quite quickly. An RP wouldn't work like that.
