3/5 Stars
This movie is mediocre, but it isn't bad. I think I should start off with the bad.

The main problem this movie has is with it's universe, the beginning trudges with technology we are not familiar with and doesn't really explain it anymore before getting back to the interrogation. There is a lot of fast pacing in the beginning sequences which interrupt development within the story and cause it to lack in depth. One of the biggest problems this movie has is dialogue, a lot of the prisoners (Especially the two Scottish ones) were absolutely terrible with their lines. They lacked serious enunciation which made it hard to understand what they were saying. This was especially prevalent in Joe Gilgun's role as he completely sounded like he was gargling on water as he was talking. The acting was pretty atrocious and many of the supporting characters were lacking in any real acting talent.

The good? That one's easy, Guy Pearce. That man can pull of a role like any other. He plays his character with great acting and a side of his own personal touches. His ability to delve into the psyche of a man who is sarcastic, rude, obnoxious, loyal, and play it all out like this is truly phenomenal. Not to mention Maggie Grace who performed well in her role as the President's daughter. She kept herself in focus throughout the whole film and the moments she had with Pearce kept the hilarity in good taste.

All in all, it is clear that James Mather and Stephen St. Ledger tried to make a phenomenal Sci Fi film. However the CGI was frankly bad in the beginning, the cast was horrible, the dialogue and diction was crap and the storyline faltered from too many rushed areas in the plot. However, the movie is saved by the great duo of Maggie Grace and Guy Pearce who give a phenomenal performance in Lockout.
From the trailer I'm pretty indifferent, seems like the type of movie I wouldn't necessarily make a priority to set a movie date for, but If I'm with a group of friends and we just so happen to decide catch a movie after dinner, it seems like it would make for a good time regardless.

The review also seems to be spot-on for my initial thoughts on the movie, but seriously Guy Pierce and the chick from Lost, that should be an interesting pairing.

Those two were imho the only good thing about the movie! They just clicked so well together.
