The only time it sucks is when they open Dragonfly Hornet and a combo extender and manage to push through all of the defense. - Mermails is a blow out. Dweller is really easy to drop and a single Garunix becomes very hard for the opponent to get rid of. - Agents is a lot of fun. The only thing I don't like is a Kristya, but its not impossible to deal with, especially with the toolbox Tenki provides (Fire Fist monsters are a must.) - Geargia / Machina can you even lose this one? Key Cards: - Getting Garunix is usually a good way to win duels. It doesn't always ensure victory because backrow does in fact hurt, but if it is summoned, about 70% of the duels are going to be won by him alone. - Onslaught is the best card, resolving it feels amazing. It is the card you want to be adding if you don't already have it. Try to increase the consistency of seeing it with Duality. - Yaksha is the card you want to be summoning first turn. You either play to summon the Garunix in your hand, or try to set up as much as possible from Duality and Trooper + Call. When Yaksha resolves on a Barong instead of a Garunix, it is really cool to add an Onslaught to your hand. Now you know if your field gets cleared you can go H.A.M. Or you can even make Diawolf and suicide him with backrow just to play the Onslaught and start nuking. - Fire Circle is very underwhelming. Usually, I'd rather just have the lance because sometimes you don't have a FIRE target in grave, and the only monsters you really want to use this on is Barong and Garunix. Other times it is just used to get a Garunix from the grave or make game pushes. I do however often search for it when Barong resolves from a SS'd Garunix. It becomes really hard to lose once you have those together. - Rekindling is a game sealer. I often will add either Yaksha or Barong to my hand from a Tenki and play it instead of a Wolfberk just so I can push through next turn with a field spam of Xyz monsters. People often quit when it is dropped! - I don't like safe zone in here too much either. There are times when you want to use it destroy your monster but then you get afraid of getting blown out. An example is summoning Barong, setting TT and Safe Zone. Opponent drops a Heavy Storm and you chain Safe Zone destroying Barong, now you're screwed if they can push for game or even summon a T-King. I see merit for it, but I just haven't found it too useful. - I would play 4 Torrential Tributes if I could. - The Fire Fist monsters should absolutely be played. They help a lot with removal. One for monsters like Kristya, and one for backrow like Macro (That rhymed). Extra Deck: - Tiger is amazing. Probably moreso in pure Fire Firsts, but of course it works well in here too. Putting out constant 2300, then 2400, then 2500 Xyz monsters until you draw into combo pieces is great. He also crushes dropped Tragoedia's which just about everybody plays. It is possible to get his last effect off too if you can get 3 Tenki's on board, which isn't impossible. - Diawolf is a boss. It often gets summoned right into a backrow, because you will usually be making this card for one of two reasons. The first is to clear away problem cards. This will usually be set backrow. The second reason this card is good is because it helps get you to your combo pieces very quickly. It gives a form of destruction to your Barongs that perhaps you didn't have before all from a single summon of Wolfberk. - Dweller is good against Mermails and Dark Worlds but 1700 ATK is kinda poo. Its more or less a 1-turn insurance you won't get severely f***ed up against those decks. If it does stay out longer then woohoo. - Most of the other Xyz monsters are not too important. Maybe Shock Master for Alt. Victory decks and Roach for its good matchups. Stuff I've tried: - Flamvell Firedog. I like wolfberk more. Its not searchable when you want it and I find it hard to get it's effect off. I recognize that it can be useful though and think you can definitely play it. If it does get it's effect off it becomes super useful for a toolbox and it adds to the number of Rekindling targets you play. - Horn of the Phantom Beast. You can put out some really big monsters with it. It does make your backrow more vulnerable to MST / Storm but almost all of your monsters you play can use it so if your opponent runs into a monster and you flip this, thats gamechanging (especiall if you play firedog!). ** I might test this instead of Safe Zone as I have yet to do this ** - Goka, the Pyre of Malice. Makes the deck even faster at the cost of consistency. Thats pretty much it. And its harder to use when you play Duality too. - Phoenix Wing Wind Blast. Some times you have cards in hand that you want in the Graveyard but can't because you can only Normal Summon once per turn or you don't have a Yaksha to use it's effect. Well, not only does this help with setting up Graveyard plays, but it is also very useful in almost all match-ups. I highly recommend this over Rageki Break mainly because of other Fire King decks! - Sacred Phoenix of Nephtys. Same amount of consistency of Garunix but it has less attack and won't come back every Standby. More often then not you want to clear away monsters, but it would be okay if you wanted to run 2 Garunix and 1 Phoenix together. Once you start pushing to 4 boss monsters in here you are asking for trouble. (please don't play the Trade-In engine). If you manage to get both a Phoenix and Garunix out together, may god have mercy on your opponent's soul. Decks I don't like: - Wind-Ups. Magician Shark exists and fact they can just sit on Rabbit + Factory and dodge your hate is irritating. They can also make game pushes really quickly and blow through your minimal backrow. - Macro Rabbit. Kinda obvious here. If their Evolzars and backrow outnumber your removal, you aren't winning. - Dark Worlds. This is here because I just don't like Dark Worlds. Dark Worlds can open nuts and win against every deck, but here they have specific cards that hurt Fire Kings moreso than others. I am talking about Skill Drain, Eradicator, and Dark Smog (DDV does nothing!). Even with 3 MST and Storm, it all depends on how well they open.
mido9
That one lance seems out of place. Tried foolish in it's place?
