This band is this generations RIP-OFFS of the Backstreet Boyz. And Never Compare these to the Beatles because probaly some of you just tried to remembered who the Backstreet boys are;

I kinda agree with you and disagree with you Rapid, yes Backstreet Boys are 100x more cheesier and talentless than 1D, but there is one song by the Backstreet Boys that was actually emotionful

I find it impossible to find boybands fresh. They grow old after maybe 3 albums, before everything becomes awkwardly the same. Mainly because it's really hard for boybands to change their sound when they were popular for their initial sound and also their girl appeal.

I also find it hard to blame Backstreet Boys. As with every single boyband, their sound is chosen by their bosses and their producers. 90s pop naturally sounds cheesy to our ears. It wasn't cheesy in the 90s; to be honest, it was the equivalent of One Direction. Outside of that, they're mostly incomparable. Backstreet Boys had soft R&B influences; 1D have electro and faux rock influences.

One Direction will eventually grow old with any artist, until they reinvent themselves. There's no hurry though. They've perhaps got a safe 2 years or so before they have any need to stay in the spotlight.

Also, why are people complaining about lyrics? You can only ever complain about songs that they have written. Therefore, I'll take one song from each that the artists actually wrote. Then, I realise that both groups don't have any full writing credits so go blame the producers.

Wouldn't really compare them as such 1D are far more manifactured pop that blights the Christmas #1 spot in the UK every year. Yea the Backstreet Boys got a little help to get started by they didn't get the fame level that being on XFactor brings.

Wow, calmies, ok?

And I'll basically go with what Rai and Yin sort of said: Those groups tend to be manufactured and get their songs, concepts, most heavy decisions made for them.
However, I'll add that that doesn't automatically make a group bad.

I've only heard 2 songs by One Direction so far and the Pop-Rock-ish sound and their voices didn't appeal to me.
Then again, if I think back about the Backstreet Boys, they ARE a large influence for current boygroups, but one of them had an annoying as hell voice too. Also, there were 2 legit singers in the group, from what I remember.

But I've never heard anyone comparing them with the Beatles.

I guess I sounded a bit mad, but I'm not (just saying). Backstreet boys had a horrible sound to them. When I was growing up I loved them but now it sounds like a bunch of guys with the same voices, plus listen to One Directions new album. That is what sets them apart from the backstreet boys they became more blunt, and started going for a older age group. Listen to their lyrics, they even tried to add more genera in to their music. Unlike the backstreet boys who kept it all the same, and repeated themselves all the time. .-,
