Gospel.
I haven't seen any topics on this so... http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/49722911/ns/health-health_care/t/colorado-washington-first-states-legalize-recreational-pot/ Basically Colorado and Washington state are the first States of the U.S to legalize the recreational use, cultivation and possession of marijuana (must be over 21, and limit of no more than an ounce.) NBC seemed fitting. What are some of your opinions on the topic?
Nathanael D. Striker
The approve of this because marijuana legalization brings needed revenue for the economy. Ironically, I live in Oregon, which rejected our proposed measure due to lack of restrictions, and I'm 17. I knew this was going to happen when people started approving medical marijuana.
Yeah unfortunately I live in Texas, but more ironic (and I may be wrong) I heard that the majority of the tax revenue from distribution is being utilized to fund and build schools, which I found hilarious. Fusion X. Denver
Marijuana should be legalized. -It's a lot less harmful than cigarettes. -Like Striker said, it'd benefit the economy. -A better method for stress reduction than cigarettes (though there exist several options that are better than both) -It'll stop federal funding for holding prisoners busted for marijuana usage/possession -And it'll stop from turning those arrested kids or normal people into hardened criminals -Not as valid, but lots more creativity would probably emerge from authors and TV writers But overall, I don't see the point in making marijuana illegal when everyone indulges in cigarettes and alcohol. Darth Revan of the Sith
I love seeing how confused people get at the fact Marijuana is illegal. Money talks in congress people. The only reason Democrats are against the legalization of Marijuana is because cigarette companies pour money into the Obama Administration to make it illegal so they don't lose revenue. Oil companies do the same thing to the Republican Party so they don't lose revenue against Natural Gas. I hear from so many people that say "How can the government logically ban Marijuana man?" MONEY!!! Unless you get Cigarette companies to shut up, the Federal Government will not release it's stranglehold on Marijuana. And the biggest reason why Obama hasn't spoken publicly about these recent developments is because he has already been hammered by Biden on the issue. Joe Biden has said before that he supports the legalization of Marijuana. And Biden has already gone into conflict with Obama when he disagreed with Obama's support of SOPA, PIPA, and ACTA. Biden is also an advocate for internet rights. This will be the second time the Vice Pres. and the Pres. will get into conflict. AGAIN!
Nathanael D. Striker
The feds claim marijuana is a gateway drug, but how can a gateway drug be higher up on the ties while the drugs it "acts as a gateway" to are lower on the same list in spite of them being more dangerous than marijuana? It doesn't make sense.

This recent marijuana legalization will last a few years if the US government decides to oppose it.
Tentacruel
Regardless of whether pot is good or bad for you, the war on drugs is causing far more problems than it's fixing. So yeah.
Agro
I think that marijuana and cigarettes should be banned >> Hell, I'm even against alcahol. Shradow
The argument of saying pot is better for you than stuff like cigarettes or alcohol isn't really an argument for pot, but an argument against cigarettes and alcohol. Tentacruel
Point is, it's not about whether or not it's good or bad for you, it's about ethics. Do we let the government control the lives of people? One could argue that cinnabons are unhealthy (they are), and they should be illegal. Homosexuals are more at risk to certain STD's, should be criminalize that? No. Plus, I'll state it again, the war on drugs causes a lot of problems. Look it up.
