Guest Mr. A.
Yes, that one topic we dubbed forbidden is back. Negs were important teaching factor in YCM's golden days. To many it taught many people wrong from right (In a sense). When a person get's negged, he/she is now informed that what he has done is disliked by a certain member or members of the community. Although this can be abused, likes have been abused anyways and the Reps system has lost it's integrity. Neg's keep the rep of a person balanced and fair by allowing that this person is well liked by the community by the fact his rep is so high. Support? I know this is a dead idea but I feel with all that's going on, it would be wise to bring em back? Maybe not? IDK I am not the smartest guy in ze world. Support or not? Guest Reborn Black
The short and sweet answer is no. Negs, without requiring reasons, are NOT good for the community, and we have no way of making them require reasons.

We might as well get rid of reps all together because they are abused to ridiculous amounts. Negs keep things balanced and Reps are about as good for the community as negs are. Mods can fix that right away. On the other hand, a random idiot can neg someone over nothing. This can also be fixed right away, but it has a different impact on people. They can get negged for doing nothing wrong, and some people are actually somewhat fragile. Meanwhile, a single +rep can boost someone's esteem. Not to mention reps are when you agree with/lol at/something of the sort at something, whereas negs are "I DON'T LIKE THIS". A rep is better than a lot of posts going "this made me lol", while a post detailing why someone disagrees is better than a neg without explanation. Guest みゆきサン
As democratic as this site is anyway, it's not going to matter if we have negs one way or another. But all in all, idiots need to be taught a lesson, and flaming someone through PMs is kind of bad. Negs are a much "cleaner" way of disagreeing with someone's aspects. For example, I could have negged D.A.'s post because it was spam. And I would have.

Guest Reborn Black
Again, the same should apply to reps as well.Reps have at least some purpose as opposed to negs. Reps remove the "I lol'd" or "*Quote* This" clutter at the very least.Negs are for people to hide behind when they don't know how to express they dislike something. Honestly, your thread's becoming a debate section topic, and I don't feel it's even fit for that. It seems like you just want to argue about it. To quote LZ on the subject:Alright, so after reading those I've made my mind. I say if the negs do not come with the ability to give reasons for them, then they should not be returned. Otherwise, negs have three purposes.1. To disagree with the post, which explaining your different viewpoint would be better2. A type of mini-modding3. Rep spam/trolling #1 is the only legit reason for them, but that only becomes useable when we need to give reasons for negs. At that, Hatcher, the one with the actual power to do so, said they aren't coming back. So, lock. Feel free to give us your eloquent speech on how reps are bad for the site, but don't do it under the guise of bringing negs back.
