Brinolovania
The promo tourney is the getting into LCS thing. LMQ vs XDG was the first match of the NA promo tourney. It really isn't much of a tournament, tbh.
Makο
Based off of that, am I to assume that Team 8 didn't get in because they lost to LMQ?
Brinolovania
It's the top 3 Challenger teams though, so that wouldn't be it. IDK, I don't follow the Challenger scene.
Makο
I only sort of half-watched the Challenger series, and I'm sure I missed like all of the second half.
Astro Dude
Well, I was a wee bit off on my "50-50" thing. XDG deserved to lose though, after how badly they've been playing. Now we've just gotta hope LMQ doesn't roflstomp the entire LCS like some people are saying. Not that it seems likely, stomping XDG =/= stomping C9 or TSM. Phantom Dancer makes you do damage really fast too, though. And it does more. True, but you need a Gold Maker for the equipment bulds cause unless you have the Greed mastery, you're better off. The Spellthief for mages and the coin build for physical attackers. After all, they burn through Mana faster than they can recover it. Phantom Dancer is nice, but I just got back from using that Ganaan Hurricane thing. Best, ranged, equipment, ever.

Players wanna end the game so fast I don't have time to fill out all my item slots. Everyone who's not a support or a full tank counts as a carry. And you don't need to get 6 items every game. It doesn't matter how much stuff you have when you win.
Goose
It was because Team 8 lost to LMQ early on in the NACS. If you watched the NACL, you'd have seen that Team 8 was the second best team in NA. They outperformed C9T, coL.black, coL.red, Curse Academy, and a bunch of other teams you never heard of. Makο
Sounds like they should have done so Also, Astro I understand your logic perfectly. I began playing near the end of Season 3, so these ideas are fresh in my mind. However, while logical IN THEORY, they flop in practice. For example... (Yes, Pac, I know you're trying to handle it, but I want my input >.<) "True, but you need a Gold Maker for the equipment bulds cause unless you have the Greed mastery, you're better off. No, not really. Unless you're playing the support role, a tank, carry (AD or AP), or jungler should get all the gold they need JUST from farming minions or jungle monsters. JUST on the off chance you didn't know, you only get the gold from attacking a minion if you score the very last hit on it (fittingly called last hitting). If you practice last hitting enough and manage to kill every minion from a couple of waves, you'll notice your gold skyrocket rather quickly, and this doesn't even include the amount of gold gained from kills, assists, turrets, or other global objectives. The Spellthief for mages and the coin build for physical attackers. After all, they burn through Mana faster than they can recover it. For one, those two items don't deal nearly enough damage or have nearly enough use to be worth the investment. On an AP carry, there are many items that do the job the Spellthief tree does, except better and far more worth the investment (like Athene's for Mana Regen or Deathfire for AP). And by building the coin line on an AD, you're taking up a VALUABLE spot in your inventory that could be used for another damaging item or for a survivability item like Guardian Angel. And yes, champions do burn through mana faster than they recover it. That's why you need to learn to manage your mana. Keep an eye on how much each spell costs, and how fast you regen. Try clearing entire waves of minions without using your spells at all, using only your basic attacks. That way, you can save your mana for when you really need it. Phantom Dancer is nice, but I just got back from using that Ganaan Hurricane thing. Best, ranged, equipment, ever." Except it's not. Sure, you get more bolts to attack more targets, but that also means you'll have WAY harder of a time last hitting. When you last hit, you want to carefully watch how much damage your minions are doing to theirs, so that JUST when the minion has enough health for one of your auto attacks to kill it, you jump at the chance. If you're attacking 3 of those minions at once, those minions will be easier for YOUR minions to kill. You'll likely cut your creep score (how many minions/jungle monsters you kill) by around 66%. That's a HUGE amount of gold wasted. Plus, the bolts don't prioritize enemy champions, so if you end up in a teamfight surrounded by enemy minions, you've just wasted a ton of potential damage. Besides, there aren't enough minions to farm. Players wanna end the game so fast I don't have time to fill out all my item slots. Actually, as shown by the millions of games played each day, their are plenty of minions to satisfy the bloodlust of us crazy gamers; like I said earlier, it's a matter of mastering last hitting to maximize your gold input. And yes, as Pacman covered, players DO want to end games quickly (with victory, of course). However, the end goal of the game is NOT to fill your slots, but to win. If you do manage to fill your slots with completed high-tier items, that means you've probably been playing that one match for upwards of 50 minutes. I hope I don't seem too harsh in this, but these are some concepts you have to understand early on to be able to easily transition into the rest of the metagame. I mean, the INSTANCE you decide to play against enemy players for whatever reason, you WILL be jumped on and brutally murdered (verbally) by your teammates who even have a mediocre idea of how the metagame works. Especially the last part. If you build an Ancient Coin on a carry in PvP, you will be flamed to hell and back. I'm surprised you haven't been already. Brinolovania
Indeed, But now I'm level 15, but I have a long way before I upgrade my runes to Tier 3. I bet all of you are using Tier 3 runes. ...That is not AT ALL relevant. Absolutely nothing either of us has said is affected by runes. You still shouldn't be building Ruunan's or gold items on carries or AP mids. I don't know what you're trying to say here. I'm sorry if I sound angry/harsh, but you it seems like you haven't been listening to what we've been saying at all.
Makο
Also, save your IP for when you CAN buy Tier 3 runes. Any rune before that isn't worth it, really. And, before this somehow gets violent, I am not trying to really dictate how you play the video game. However, it is clear that you WANT to be good at this game, and for that to happen, we NEED to let you know how the meta works, what's good or bad, etc. These are strategies and techniques that are tried and true, having been tested millions upon millions of times, and unfortunately, a new Level 15 player isn't going to be able to create a good new strategy that hasn't been tried before. EG vs C9T EG wins.
Makο
THIS JUST IN Apparently, XSpecial from TSM has been benched for the time being. Rather than being problems with play, it is stated that attitude problems had management pull him out. No official details have been announced, so it's all speculation and stuff XSpecial himself said.

EG vs C9T EG wins. Everyone has their own strategy. Me, it's to get gold for gearbuilds, so I can dominate. In one game, I took out a Miss Fortune Bot Twice as Jinx. Speaking of Miss Fortune, I think I'll try using that Hurricane gear on her. You know, spreader. Plus there's that ascension Amulet. It may not have firepower, but the Mana regen can assure you that, you can go through without having to go back to base, plus, you get Gald even if you don't administer the killing blow. But hey, to each their own.

Brinolovania
In one game, I took out a Miss Fortune Bot Twice as Jinx. That is completely irrelevant. Bots are terrible. Bots are nowhere near as good as any human player. I can 1v5 bots, and win the game while never dieing and getting multiple pentakills. Have you actually done any pvp? Trust me, it's not even comparable to bots.

Cause I often get my butt handed to me by them. Remember, I'm level 15 and I'm using tier 2 runes. Heck they even outflank and destroy me. Plus, RG are making the bots more human in terms of playstyle. 2. Once, and it was that April Fools thing. It's why I prefer PVai. So me and my team never LOSE. I play to WIN! Edit: I just got back from a killing spree as Miss Fortune. My items were Berserker Greves, Phantom Dancer, the Hurricane item and a Sword I was gonna build for Last Whisper. You guys should have seen it. I was dominating the field, while helping out my colleagues. That's how I roll. After destroying the first turret, I go off to see whom I can help with the second. The purpose, destroy the lane turrets to destroy all the inhibitors to spawn Super Minions and dominate. There are different playstyles for everyone, you guys have yours I have mine. And mine, is awesome. You guys may say it's horrible, but I say "whatever works, works".
Makο
From this, I assume you're never going to set foot into PVP. And in that case, go nuts! What you build doesn't even matter. Go AP Graves. I've always wanted to see how much damage I could get those little smoke grenades to do.
Brinolovania
I guess if you're only playing bots, whatever then. I will say that if you only play PvAI, the game will get boring eventually. But if you DO ever go into PvP, remember the stuff we told you. If you try to run AD Ahri with/against real people, you are not going to have a good time. So anyways, other stuff. What do you guys think's gonna happen this split in NA, now that LMQ and Complexity.black are in the LCS?
