Blazing The Seal (of Orichalcos) (single)

Hey, it's my first time using this thing, though I'm no stranger to creating my own cards. Since "The Seal of Orichalcos" has finally been released, I came up with this idea of giving it a nasty little counterpart called "Sabbath of Fire." Check it out...

Effect: This card can only be activated when your opponent has "The Seal of Orichalcos" active on his/her side of the field. This card cannot be destroyed as long as "The Seal of Orichalcos" remains active." If "The Seal of Orichalcos" is destroyed, destroy this card immediately. All monsters you control gain 600 DEF. While you control 1 or more Defense Position monster(s), your opponent cannot damage your life points with any Spell, Trap or monster effects. Both players receive 500 points of direct damage to their life points during each standby phase. If both players have 500 life points or less when this effect is applied, the duel is declared a draw.

As you can see, it is actually a field trap card which would probably be somewhat difficult to run, but would definately give anyone running the seal something to consider. It's the 3rd in my set so far. IDK, lemme know what y'all think.

First off, you can;t have field trap cards. Make it a continuous trap card. Your OCG (official card grammar) is actually pretty nice, it just needs some fine tuning. You can use this as a reference for OCG: http://forum.yugiohcardmaker.net/topic/162881-the-ocg-grammar-card-presentation-thread/. The picture is controversial (to some, not me) and black/white backgrounds aren't liked here.

Now for the card itself: This part: "All monsters you control gain 600 DEF. While you control 1 or more Defense Position monster(s), your opponent cannot damage your life points with any Spell, Trap or monster effects." is useless unless your running some sorta stall decks, and stall decks don't run Orichalcos. The burn effect is too small to be useful, unless you have 2-3 on field.

Overall: The cards isn't bad, just no one will use it. For a first card, it's not bad. Usually first cards are way overpowered. Sooo, good job for a first card but it's still sub-par.

Yeah, the whole field trap thing is sort of a novelty. I suppose it would work all the same as a continuous. As for the picture, I'm not much of an artist. The pic is just a stand in for what I had visualized which is basically a red seal of orichalcos with fire bursting out of it, an inverted pentagram instead of a unicursal hexagram and the words "Sabbath of Fire" written in enochian key the way "Seal of Orichalcos" is written on its card.

The card is basically meant for a stall deck to counter the seal, although I admit the burn effect would probably be a bit lagging. Do you think it should be increased? If so, by how much? I thank you for the input.

P.S. I was going to ad an effect that allows you to set (not summon) an additional monster each turn, but I figured that would be kind of overpowering.

There are Field Trap cards the older Mangas, just not the true real game.

While it can't be a Field Trap card with the icon, he CAN have the card be TREATED as a Field Magic Card through effect text. Make it a Normal or Continuous Trap Card (it can be either honestly) but have it become a Field Magic Card through the effect at activation. I have done that myself (one of my oldest cards was a Continuous Trap that becomes a Field Magic Card).

Not much to say about the card, it's just seeming like a reverse tactic of Seal (and Seal isn't even a good card really).

One problem with the card regardless of changes, if this is a "Field Trap card" I assume it still goes into the Field Magic Card Zone, so regardless this would DESTROY Seal of Orichalcos because two fields cannot exist. So soon as you activate this, Seal would be destroyed and then this card would be destroyed because Seal isn't on the field. So none of the effects matter because, currently, it's impossible to be on the field.

Might want to change that part. You COULD make this card a Field card, but then Seal gets destroyed, so yeah, it might have to be a Continuous instead or change the effect so it stays after Seal is gone.

The card is balanced sure but, as has been said, kills itself automatically right now. Quite frankly even if it didn't there would be no point to playing this since not that many people use Orichalcos and there is no way to know if someone has it in there deck or not, and even if the do there's a chance they won't even draw it since most people only run one and don't bother with terraforming.

It is plain to see that you're gonna be making far better cards soon enough. Best of luck.

Alright, I've made a few tweaks based on some of the input here, lemme know what you think...

I've turned it into a continuous trap card to fix the fact that it would have destroyed itself and increased the burn effect to 600 because I'm still not sure if it should be 1000.

BTW, I thought of a way this card could make for an effective combo in a stall deck. If you have this card, orichalcos and "Exchange" in your hand, set this card, play exchange. It could make for quite the burn if your opponent plays the seal. I probably would. I mean, the attack bonus would be pretty tempting...

This technically isn't my first, it's my third. The other two are a ritual effect monster and it's spell card. I'm not sure where to post them, since they are inspired by a certain celebrity, but do not contain said celebrity's actaul name, only his nickname (Prince of Darkness).

Very nice card, I will be printing this off to counter my local Orichalcos-whore. But in all honesty, I don't see anyone actually using this. Ever.

An Ozzy card would go to Pop Culture cards.
