The Permabanned List

I think we should have a list similar to this from Something Awful Forums. http://forums.somethingawful.com/banlist.php?adminid=&actfilt=-1&ban_month=&ban_year=#list

Mostly because it allows us to keep updated on recent bannings and why. It is also a good form of comedy because I know that the wittyness of the Mods could allow for some funny reasons. That and if we are confused as to why a certain member got banned, they won't have to put like ten statuses going "WHY WAS SO AND SO BANNED?" and cause such commotion for no reason.

So YCM what do you think?

You want to personally weed out all the spambots that get banned? The admin CP says we have a little under 8500 banned users, so good luck. XD

Even if we are just talking about starting now and moving forward there are a couple problems.

1. I believe there is a member's privacy type rule from YCMaker, making it unadvised to post that info. (I might be thinking of another site I modded, but idr).

2. Most people get banned out of some deluded sense of accomplishment or for recognition. Having their name in a sort of 'Hall of Fame' for baddies only adds fuel to the fire, imo.

I think this is correct, I remember a thread called "post your warn status" being locked.

imo, a better idea would be to just have a mod make a thread in General or the status bar or something about why someone was banned and provide a link (if applicable) to show what they did.

Something Awful Forums doesn't seem to suffer from Spambots like this place does, and the mods there come up with some of the goofiest reasons to put on probation some of the members. However, as far as I can tell, YCM doesn't really have a probation system, and trying to keep track of who should be released from a ban after a few hours/days is hard to do. It would be a good idea if YCM was set up more like them, but as it is, it is like trying to maintain modern tech on a Windows 95. It is only going to mess things up more imo.
