[s]EDIT: Important question, this was not clear from the initial post, can or can't we create new mechanics?
Or are the cards supposed to make clever use of current game mechanics?[/s]

Reserving my favorite archetype of all time! Vampires!

Hmm.... I suppose you could, but only if your archetype is really under-supported and the playing style isn't very effective (which it's not for Vampires), there is a theme with Vampires (at least for two of them) and I would advise you to somehow incorporate that.

No, you can't do that, it's not realistic because you're inventing game mechanics. The point of this contest is realism: To make an old archetype Metagame level and realistic and balanced. It has to be realistic and something that actually can be done in Yugioh. If you had a two sided card, you would be able to see it from the Deck.

However, what you can do with the above cards is make it so that you banish it and then Special Summon the other monster from the Deck or Banished Zone.

I also approve that your sort of following the name pattern (medieval ranking).

Would Normal Summoning directly from the Deck be an invented mechanic? i.e. "Normal Summon 1 additional monster from your Deck", rather than the expected "Special Summon 1 monster from your Deck, it is treated as a Normal Summon"

I'd look up a card that had a recent change in the card text along these lines, but I don't think there's currently a way to Normal Summon from anywhere except the hand.

There is no game mechanic like that, however, you can say something like this: "Summon it from the Deck. (This Summon is treated as a Normal Summon.)" and any effects or restrictions against Special Summoned are taken care of and any effects that happen upon Normal Summon are activated. Stuff like that have been done, for example "Instant Fusion" doesn't actually Fusion Summon but it is still treated as a Fusion Summon meaning that any Fusion Monsters that can only be Fusion Summoned are still Summoned and you can Monster Reborn any Fusion Monster that is sent to the Graveyard.

Lore:

During your Standby Phase, if this card is in your Graveyard and you do not control a face-up monsters except monsters that have "B.E.S." in their name or are named "Big Core": You can Special Summon this card. Only 1 "B.E.S. Hidden Core" can be face-up on your side of the field. Once per turn, you can tribute this card: Normal or Special Summon 1 Level 5 or higher "B.E.S." monster or "Big Core" from your hand without Tributes, then place 2 counters on that monster. Monsters Summoned by this effect gain 500 ATK and DEF and gain the following effect:
● If this card is targeted by an opponent's Spell/Trap Card: Negate that card's effect, then remove 1 counter from this card and decrease this card's ATK and DEF by 400.

Once per turn, you can discard 1 card: Place 2 counters on 1 face-up Level 5 or higher "B.E.S." monster or "Big Core". If this card leaves the field: You can shuffle up to 2 "B.E.S" monsters from your Graveyard to your Deck, then draw 1 card. You can only activate 1 "N.E.O. Core" per turn and only 1 "N.E.O. Core" can be face-up on your side of the field.

I honestly think this is all the support they really need.

I refrained from phrasing it as "Special Summon x from y ignoring its Summoning conditions, it is treated as a Normal Summon", since it would make the text on the card too small, but that is what I mean by "Normal Summon 1 additional monster" in the card texts. The effect to return to the hand is phrased according to the new revision that is so far only seen on Fenghuang.
During the End Phase of the turn that this card is Summoned or flipped face-up: Return it to the hand. You can Special Summon this card from your hand when a Level 5 or higher monster is Normal Summoned or Tribute Summoned. Once per turn, you can discard 1 card to select 1 other monster you control: This turn, you can Normal Summon 1 additional Spirit monster from your Deck whose Level is less than or equal to the Level of the selected monster (without Tributes).

During the End Phase of the turn that this card is Summoned or flipped face-up: Return it to the hand. You can Special Summon this card from your hand by banishing 1 face-up Spirit monster. If this card is Normal Summoned or Tribute Summoned, add 1 Equip Spell Card listed on this card from your Deck to your hand. While a monster(s) is equipped with the following card(s), it gains 800 ATK, and the appropriate effect(s) are applied: ● Mirror of Yata: When the equipped monster inflicts Battle Damage, you can add 1 Spirit monster from the Deck to your hand. ● Orb of Yasaka: The equipped monster cannot be targeted by card effects. ● Sword of Kusanagi: When the equipped monster declares an attack, you can return 1 card on the field to the owner's hand.

Apply the following effect(s), based on the number of Spirit monsters in your hand: ●1+: Once, during either player's turn, you can return 1 face-up Spirit monster to the hand. During your next Main Phase, you can Normal Summon 1 additional Spirit monster from your hand. ●2+: During your End Phase, you can add 1 Spirit monster from your Graveyard to the hand. ●3+: Other face-up Spell and Trap Cards you control cannot be destroyed, except during activation. ●4+: All monsters on your opponent's side of the field are treated as Spirit monsters, and return to the owner's hand during the End Phase.

During the End Phase of the turn that this card is Summoned or flipped face-up: Return it to the hand. Each time you gain Life Points, add 1 Spirit monster from the Deck or Graveyard to your hand. Once per turn, you can return any number of face-up Spirit monsters to the hand: This turn, you can Normal Summon additional Spirit monsters from your hand up to the number of monsters added to the hand by this effect (without Tributes).

*The image almost makes this a Pop-Culture card, but Genzoman's picture has appeared too many times on this site already.

Alright, I cannot find images for s***, so, if I am allowed, I'll post the cards without an image.

Also, ran out of quoting allowance, so the old cards' effects aren't listed.

The big man himself, the leader of the gang. Since he's the leader, the gang needs his permission to do stuff, so a lot of the Scorpions' support revolves around him.

One of the Scorpions' prime control agents, he can maintain field and deck control with that hammer of his.

The resident lockpick. Always useful for the team's break-and-enters. Now, in his own base, he can quickly defuse bombs with his enormous selection of tools.

The Heavy. Every team needs some muscle, and the Scorpions are no exception. He has always been a valuable member for his bouncing abilities, but his brute strength is sometimes hard to use.

Despite being female, the other members of the gang find her invaluable. Her searching abilities are incredibly useful for their operations. And she knows how to use that whip in 'other ways'.

Zaloog's call to arms! His leadership is always useful, and this is the best swarming card they have... until now.

Until now, this is the best way to get their effects off... pathetic, isn't it? That's why Zaloog went hunting, and found some new members to help bring the gang into a new era of terrorizing.

Would be female.
3 Level 4 DARK Warrior-Type monsters
While you control a face-up "Don Zaloog", your opponent takes all Battle Damage that you would have taken from a battle involving a face-up "Dark Scorpion" monster. Once per turn, when your opponent takes Battle Damage from a battle involving a face-up "Dark Scorpion" monster: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; Special Summon 1 "Don Zaloog" or "Dark Scorpion" monster from your hand, and until the end of the Battle Phase, it can attack your opponent directly.
Iol is their 'boss' monster (the actual boss being Don Zaloog, of course). The reflected damage combined with Zaloog's Ride means that you can run your monsters into theirs, they take damage, and you have total control. The second part helps with the Dark Scorpions' much-needed swarm, and combos more with Menae, since she adds from Deck or Graveyard to hand, and then Iol Summons it.

Would be male.
When this card inflicts Battle Damage to your opponent, you can activate 1 of these effects:
● Change this card to Defense Position; during your opponent's next turn, they cannot target a monster you control for attacks, except this one.
● Target 1 face-up Attack Position monster your opponent controls, and 1 other face-up Attack Position "Dark Scorpion" monster you control; change the first target to Defense Position, and the second target can make a second attack during each Battle Phase this turn.
Every archetype needs a good shield, and Payne fits that role well. He can do damage, then hide and force his opponents to come to him, or utilize himself to change an opponent's monster to Defense and, despite not being able to do damage to them, can be destroyed with one of the other monster's two attacks.

Would be female.
When this card inflicts Battle Damage to your opponent, you can activate 1 of these effects:
● Target up to 2 monsters in either player's Graveyard; return those targets to their owner's Deck(s).
● Send the top 2 cards of their Deck to the Graveyard.
And here's the nurse to help out the wounded. She can recycle opponent's unwanted cards back into their Deck (like Grapha, or XX-Saber Darksoul...), or help you out by recycling your cards. Her second effect is the almost-trademark ability of Dark Scorpions, their milling.

Neither player can activate Field Spell Cards. If this card would be destroyed: You can return 1 "Dark Scorpion" card from the field to the owner's Deck; negate the effect that would destroy this card, and destroy it. Once per turn, when a "Dark Scorpion" monster you control with less than 1500 ATK declares an attack: You can make the attack a direct attack.
Their brand-new support, the battle has been taken home. Being on home turf gives the mobsters much-needed advantages, such as sneaky blindsides and being able to defuse various bombs with readily-available equipment.

Once per turn, when an attack is declared involving a "Dark Scorpion" monster you control: You can return the "Dark Scorpion" monster to your hand; negate the attack, then Special Summon 1 other "Dark Scorpion" monster from your hand, and increase its ATK by 600.
And there's the call to get the hell out of there. The Siren tells a Scorpion when to evacuate and swap out with a new, fresh teammate.

When you Summon a "Dark Scorpion" monster (except during the Damage Step): Target 1 face-up "Dark Scorpion" monster you control; the target can make a second attack during each Battle Phase this turn, and when it inflicts Battle Damage to your opponent, you can Special Summon 1 "Don Zaloog" or "Dark Scorpion" monster from your Deck.
And outside of Iol, the Scorpions' main swarming comes from this. A double attack, and another ally. The 'excepting Damage Step' bit is so that this won't proc. off of itself, multiple copies, or Iol. That would make it broken.

Equip only to a Level 3 or 4 DARK Warrior-Type monster. The equipped monster is unaffected by your opponent's card effects. When this card leaves the field while equipped to a monster: During your next Battle Phase, the monster this card was equipped to gains 1000 ATK, until the end of the Battle Phase.
Their very own Equip Spell (kinda)! Felt like expanding it slightly. For the lols, this gives a bonus to something like The Immortal Bushi. But anyway, a free Torrential immunity (which has always hurt) and when it's recycled by Hideaway, it's an extra 1000 ATK!

It would be a Harley Davidson, obviously.
While you control this face-up card, "Don Zaloog" cannot be destroyed by battle, and while you control a face-up "Don Zaloog", "Dark Scorpion" monsters cannot be destroyed by battle.
Finally, Don Zaloog can call himself a real mobster, now that he has a bike. As a bonus, this bad*** new bike somehow protects his team. Combos very well with the new Champion, Iol.

When your opponent Summons a monster(s): Target that monster(s), then pay 1000 Life Points; Special Summon 1 "Dark Scorpion" monster from your Deck, and destroy the target(s). You must control a face-up "Don Zaloog" to activate and resolve this effect.
And the Scorpions even get their own Trap Hole (since Trap Holes are Pitfalls in Japanese)! Kinda broken, but is a Seven Tools of the Bandit for monsters, and you get another of Zaloog's mates, if you have him. Quite powerful with Menae's searching abilities.

"Dark Scorpion" cards you control, except "Dark Scorpion Defense - Camo Shield", cannot be destroyed by card effects. During your Main Phase 1: You can return this card from the field to your hand to target 1 Defense Position monster your opponent controls; change that target to face-up Attack Position (Flip Effects are not activated), and when a "Dark Scorpion" monster you control attacks the target, the target's original ATK becomes 0.
All this new support is all well-and-good, but it just makes them Spell/Trap reliant, now. So, the Dark Scorpions have found a nifty new way to conceal their base from the cops. It's mobile, easily deployable, and has a scouting radar or something like that build into it.

EDIT: Eep, I just realised I made Camo Shield extremely broken. Fixing.

This is why WC are better.

I've said before that I don't mind no images... go and read the first post again, in the rules I've said is that as long as the card format is there, I don't care if the pic is blank...
