Honestly, I sick of seeing this s***. "So and so killed themselves because of bullying."

I got called a f** and was told I was a homosexual all throughout my middle school experience and well into my Sophomore year. I got sent Facebook messages and I couldn't go to school without someone saying some s*** to me. I was that little kid you would normally see in one of those videos or on the news who committed suicide because of it. EXCEPT, I had a spine, and I didn't let that s*** get to me. Kids today are too motherfucking soft. They let all that insignificant high school s*** get to them and they do drastic s*** like this, when in reality, if you push through all that it won't even matter in a few years. You see, because I didn't do any stupid s***, I'm a supervisor of a restaurant that I have been working at barely a year, I get tons of pussy from a girlfriend whom I plan to marry next year, and I'm more successful and doing better s*** with my life than most of my graduating class. And it really was only because I pushed past all the bullshit.

Not saying I don't feel bad for Amanda, but if she brought it on herself like that, and she just up and threw her life away because of it, I see no reason to be adamant about it.

Well said. I've never experience bullying, but one thing I always try to argue is that once you get past the emotional-teen phase, you realize that everything during those years is completely trivial.

There's not much reason to be adamant about Amanda, but there is a reason to be mad at the lemming fools who crawl out of their rocks to spout death threats just to be part of the pack, which is the thing that originally set me off. Kids may be soft, but the people saying, "You should just kill yourself," have no spine at all, and need a swift uppercut to the stomach.

"I understand if you have opposing viewpoints, but that wont be tolerated with me."

Kind of sums up the entire sordid affair, really.

Todd was clearly mentally unstable. The fact alone she had access to a computer is ridiculous. She was young, probably a little naive and certainly stupid. She did something stupid and suffered the consequences. She did some very unpleasant things, from posting child p0rn of herself to sleeping with someone in a relationship. She had a lot of attention issues. I do agree somewhat that it's unpleasant, but I also feel that people must accept that actions have consequences. The absolute furore surrounding this sorry episode is something that's truly shocking - the leeching attitude of those who take up this story to make themselves look better, the hypocritical bullying by the white knights towards those who aren't totally sympathetic to a somewhat blameless individual. I'm not saying she deserves death. I don't many people really do believe that. But the quashing of everyone who doesn't think she is some kind of inspirational, angelic, virginal figure who was martyred for the cause of anti-bullying is far more upsetting than the incident itself. No one deserves to die, and we can learn from this.

If Todd had had access to an effective counselling program, this would likely not have happened. The lesson we can learn from this is to be more aware of mental illness sufferers and to provide free care for those who need it. Counselling programs should be publicly funded in every school in the country. Free medical care for those suffering with a confirmed condition is also a necessity.

As no one deserves death, I say rest easy.

There are always 2 sides to the story, as often as many forget.

And has anyone else noticed that 90% of the people crying about it include a statement similar to, "She was so beautiful." Are people really that shallow?

Meh. She was at least a 6.

I can understand her plight, but this was the result of being so plain stupid, impetuous, and being such a whore. Yet she didn't know about the consequences and it looks like she just bathed in that depression like she made herself do (which she did). The problem is, thousands of these kinds of people die everyday, and we cannot pay remorse for them all. Some may be more sympathetic than others, but people on FB and Twitter just blatantly post false sympathy without thinking about the outside. And yes, I'm sorry for her loss, but all those YOLO and SWAG f**s need to actually think about all people like Amanda Todd and others who suffered from depression, bullying, and suicide.
