I'm sure a lot of you have heard the story. I found about it last night and I was so greatly moved by the whole situation. I'm also sorry if there happens to be a post on this already.

If you haven't seen her suicide note video, then I recommend seeing it:

I'm not sure if it's the original, but at least the point is across.

I posted a video on YouTube on my thoughts on it, I was almost cried at some points on it.

Nobody should never be put through a hell like that, it's absolutely not fair. She had a it rough. I understand there have been other people bullied to the point of suicide, but her story and the amount of coverage it had made an impact on most people. I hope her death was not in vain, I hope that people will learn what bullying can do to people and they learn something from this. She didn't deserve any of that, and nobody does.

Also, if I hear anything like: "she deserved it", you are scum! I understand if you have opposing viewpoints, but that wont be tolerated with me. Also, grammar nazis, stfu, it's not the point of her story.

She obviously made some stupid-ass decisions, but for the life of me, if I could get my hands one of them damn Facebook lemmings, they would be wishing they could commit suicide.

And this sh** happens ALL THE TIME. Hell, I can guarantee that at least a handful of people that are spreading this around like everyone else have participated in bullying in some form or another. They're just too blind to accept it.

More than anything, this proves that the internet can be very bad for a depressed person. Someone needed to intervene and get her the hell away from Facebook.

Anyway, it's things like this that really make me want to get active and actually accomplish something. The System protects bullies. This can only be changed by a massive outcry. But knowing American politics, they'd probably throw out some freedom-of-expression-destroying legislation that accomplishes nothing.

Rant over.

R.I.P. Amanda Todd and all bully victims.

I'd just like to point out that even though some people are appalled that anyone would blame the parent, if your 12-year old girl is taking topless photos of herself with a webcam and sending them to people who are most likely grown men on the internet, you're probably doing something wrong. I hate to say it, but parents should probably monitor their kids' online activities a lot more.

That's very true. I think kids get way too much access to the internet these days. A lot of people, including Amanda, make plenty mistakes on the internet, lest making it unsafe for younger children.

I think her story will also make parents think twice about what internet privileges they give their children. I also think Facebook should also have more age restrictions as well as sites that need a certain ID number for underage persons using the site in which they use to eliminate younger kids from joining a site with objectionable or questionable content. I think this would cause less mistakes from kids doing things like this.

Just a thought.

In my opinion, Amanda Todd did that to herself. It's wrong for people to leak her boobs, it's terrible that people bullied her, and it's absolutely unfortunate that she took her own life because of it. But if we're being honest here? It's her fault. I have remorse for everyone and I always think it's better with people than without them, but it's hard for me to really feel bad for people who do stupid things. She should've known better. But I wish she didn't have to end like that.

I'm gonna be that guy.

Who the hell cares?

Seriously. People who kill themselves over bullying are stupid to me. Sure, the bullying is wrong. But when you actually kill yourself over something that:
A. Everybody has happen to them in their life
B. Is much less horrible that what other people deal with in their lives
C. Is easily handled
Then I don't see a reason why I should mourn you.

Yea. I went there.
But come on, I know a lot people will agree - even if they don't want to admit it.

I care because this happens a lot and if we can prevent once suicide, whining like b****es will have been worth it.

Also, you have to remember that teens are hormonally unstable and in some cases (like this one) pretty stupid. Logic like that doesn't always apply.

As true as that may be, that's just cold. Needless to say, I've been on both bandwagons, I guess. Sometimes you just have to go with what you believe in. That's all.

The fact still is that nobody deserves to be put through something like that which culminates in committing suicide. Even if Amanda Todd wasn't perfect it's still a sad fact that there are people in the world who would drive someone to do that, for any reason. She obviously made mistakes but those mistakes shouldn't lead to that sort of thing.

When I saw this thread, I was just about to post this. Thanks for doing it for me. XD

As someone who has been through bullying, for a much longer amount of time, at a younger age, for no fault of my own (a small, intelligent kid. Go figure), I feel a mixture of empathy and apathy. I understand what it's like, and It is hard. But there's no need for suicide. No reason for it.
And I feel like it's a massive bandwagon thing. She was a bit pretty, that's what it was. A face. In 2009, 19 people per 100,000 people in the US committed suicide. Barely a word about it. Thousands of people die every day due to hunger related causes; again, not a word. Malaria kills hundreds, as does HIV. And yet it's this one girl who gets noticed. I just dont see any justice. I'll pay my respects to her, but being put up on a pedestal like that is unfair to others.

Hmm...

Let's see...

Tells viewers to "Like" and "Favorite" his video.

Judging by the fact his video thumbnails are those fancy ones, it looks like the uploader is a Youtube partner.

Youtube partners make money off their videos.

That link to his Call of Duty channel in the upper right.

Photo of himself in the lower right linking to the next video.

Yeah, I'm convinced he made this video because he really cares.

"Hey guys. Thumbs up for epic suicide. And follow me on Twitter and Facebook."

Pretty much this.

With the all the suicide due to bullying in society, it takes some pretty white girl's suicide to remind us "hey, bullying is kind of bad?" Of course, we'll stop caring in a week or two after this anti-bullying fad dies down again until the next suicide.

This is horrible, and yes it's her fault. But all I plan on saying is you will never know til you go through Bulling.
[s]what is bulling?[/s]

ive been bullied when i was younger, not as bad as amanda prolly, f*****s made fun of me for my weight throughout elementary and middle school, i got into a few fights, however there are still people who have small beef with me because i violate the norms at the school (being that one kid in every school) a girl walked by by me while i was on the computer today, i wasnt sure if was some sort of punch or shove (it didnt hurt) but i knew it was intentional, i had the impulse to beat the s*** out of her, but i didnt and shrugged it off

I actually watched this about an hour ago. I agree with him and it changed my views on the situation. I guess one point that he didn't make was that it took a pretty girl to make more press coverage.

But one thing is straight, even if those other stories didn't make press coverage or viral success, at least this story is doing something to help end the problems with bullying.

In my opinion, she is in fact a martyr, in every sense of the word.

Honestly, I sick of seeing this s***. "So and so killed themselves because of bullying."

I got called a f** and was told I was a homosexual all throughout my middle school experience and well into my Sophomore year. I got sent Facebook messages and I couldn't go to school without someone saying some s*** to me. I was that little kid you would normally see in one of those videos or on the news who committed suicide because of it. EXCEPT, I had a spine, and I didn't let that s*** get to me. Kids today are too motherfucking soft. They let all that insignificant high school s*** get to them and they do drastic s*** like this, when in reality, if you push through all that it won't even matter in a few years. You see, because I didn't do any stupid s***, I'm a supervisor of a restaurant that I have been working at barely a year, I get tons of pussy from a girlfriend whom I plan to marry next year, and I'm more successful and doing better s*** with my life than most of my graduating class. And it really was only because I pushed past all the bullshit.

Not saying I don't feel bad for Amanda, but if she brought it on herself like that, and she just up and threw her life away because of it, I see no reason to be adamant about it.

I'm going with bullying in general. The worst I have dealt with was verbal bullying from January of 5th grade to when I first ran for student council. I was soft then and let it all get to me, mainly since I felt I didn't belong. Once I joined student council, I started to hide my emotions knowing I was emotionally weak. (Note: Asperger's really didn't help back then.) I'm now realizing that hiding my emotions wasn't a good idea since they usually come out in the safety of my room. I have friends, but I can't be fully open with them with the shell I have made over the year. When I try to be open, it comes out as a "woe is me". I can't fully enjoy the life because I look at the downside of things, which makes me extremrly caucious.

tl;dr: I'm soft, but I don't show it. I let things get to me, but I don't let it come out until I'm alone. Thanks to my poor response, I'm still dealing with it.

Seriously? I'm supposed to feel sorry for her stupidity?

Honestly, I've been called worse, and was nearly expelled all because of Virginia tech and a blond b**** all because I'm Asian. She should have known it was completely idiotic to post nudes of yourself on the internet.

Hell, I wouldn't even tell you all my exact location, let alone my identity. Life story? Maybe, but not f***ing pictures nor concrete facts about me. Judging from what my lil bro tells me about high school now adays, we can expect more stupid deaths.
