The Dark Knight
I'm pretty excited. 343 recently announced the Mantis mech which is sweet. I like the direction that they're taking Forge as well. It's what Halo 3 Forge should've been from the start and it'll hopefully advance even more across the next Halo games. As for the gameplay pace; I'm not a huge fan of the increase to overall speed but I'll have to get my hands on it to really form an opinion on this. After all, it might be a really great improvement. Though there are quite alot of features that are appearing to mimic that of Modern Warfare's (I actually like MW but not when the formula is applied to other games; particularly a game that already has a strong formula). Again, I need the first-hand experience to judge it fairly. But with the addition of: killcam, perks, weapon drops, loadouts, constant sprint availability...it does seem like it's turning away from the roots that Bungie established for the series. The look of it is hit and miss for me. I LOVE the new Valhalla look:

I'm not a fan of more than a few armor sets, helmets, etc. and it does tick me off a bit that it took until Halo 4 to get dynamic lighting, but those are minor gripes from what I've seen so far. Story isn't a concern of mine when it comes to Halo. I've never praised Halo for its story before and it doesn't look like this'll be the installment that'll change that. I'm concerned/excited about the new Infection and general updates to Multiplayer game modes. Most of the concern comes from whether the changes were needed or not and if we'll be able to mess with settings to play "classic." I do like the idea behind making infected players look....well, more like infected players should look. The reskin and settings on their Energy Sword looks lazy and uninspired though. I think I read somewhere that infected don't always use a weapon, but I can't remember. Anyway, that's my opinion on what I've seen about Halo 4 that sticks out so far. I've got mine pre-ordered and waiting to go. Discuss, I guess. I'm curious to see people's opinions on Infection (now "Flood"; admittedly not the most unique of names). Bilbo Baggins
It looks like it's going to be great. I'm actually having a hard time choosing if I should AC3 or Halo 4 first.
Tentacruel
I'm hoping it will be good. After getting past the initial hype, Reach was pretty bad.
◇ Void ◇
Halo 4's Forge is a godsend for me. I loved Reach's forge, and that it's gotten the love it deserved since Halo 3. For mutiplayer, I do have the same concerns about it being "CODized" with the random drops and perks. However, if Halo is to grab the attention of a new generation of gamers away from Activision's monster of a franchise, It does need to modernize. My biggest worry though is not the mutiplayer or the forge or even Spartan OPs. It's the Campaign. Halo 1, 2 and 3 where renowned for their stories of the struggle of the Master Chief against both the Covenant and the Flood. Now, 343 has stripped most of that away, replacing it with the deep routed story of the return of the Forerunners. If they don't tell it right, the game is going to be ruined for me and potentially many others.
Alice Moonflowyr
I cant f***ing wait for this. Everything about it seems awesome. And I do hope they get the Campaign right....the Reach campaign was just an epic fail.
Makο
Hey, Reach wasn't that bad. Only part I really found appalling was Carter stealing an epic Scarab fight from me. Anyway, yeah. Halo 4 would be the only reason for me to get an Xbox 360 again. That, and Mantis Mechs.
ICEBURG
Personally I think Halo: Reach was a pretty good storyline, though I'll admit it wasn't my favorite. I agree with Overlord though, if they don't tell the story right, it could be lost on a lot of people, including me and I'm somewhat a halo fanatic. Tentacruel
Reach's Campaign wasn't that bad, but it was more similar to CoD than Halo.
Agro
Guise, this game is f*cking amazing. It blows Reach and ODST out of the water. At least the multiplayer does. The maps are great, the guns are great, the graphics are amazing, and the gameplay is amazingly fast. Not sure how online will be comparatively, at least on the smaller maps, but offline multiplayer is absolutely amazing. Only issue so far is a 2 hour download of an 8GB install that we're still not sure was necessary or not. That's probably because this game was originally meant for the next Microsoft system due out next year.
a bad post
Oh Agro you luck duck *female gamer enters, all groan* anyway the only thing that bums me out about this is that there aren't any playable elites, I loved the dinosaurs. Shizuku Oikawa
Yeah, no playable Elites bummed me out a little, but in my opinion they probably weren't necessary since they were never given any good Customization in the first place. ◇ Void ◇
The 8GB install is a pain, but it's there so the mutiplayer experience runs smoothly. With the high level of graphics and intense gameplay mechanics, running the thing from the disk was not going to be a viable option. For the removal of elites, I'm fine with that. They had vastly inferior customization options and where only used in Reach for Invasion games. The only advantage they had was they had altered hit-boxes and slightly superior shields as standard. However, it didn't make a difference in gameplay.
Bilbo Baggins
I don't know when I will be able to buy it since I spent most my money on AC3.
The Dark Knight
So after playing it I can say this much: I'm very biased. I prefer the slightly slower paced feel of Halo 3 and even Reach to an extent (though Halo 3's gamplay was far more balanced, particularly in Matchmaking) so when I speak of Halo 4 I can't help but lean towards a worse rating than it probably deserves. I'm not a fan of the faster paced gameplay. I find that in War Games there's little to no recovery time in battle and as far as general gameplay goes, you just die so much faster. The next problem I've got with it is mostly Campaign-related, and it's the intense lack of useful ammo and weapons. I was almost believing I had Famine on. Some enemy behavior also really bothers me too, but that's not as bad to me as the ammo. Thing is, even though I'm saying all this bad stuff about it, I do enjoy it and feel like it's a fantastic game; well worth the money spent. And my original fears did not come to pass. It isn't simply Modern Warfare with a Halo texture pack and I am thankful for that. The storyline in Campaign was amazing and a true example of how stories (and endings) should be handled in video games. I'm glaring at you BioWare. The different game modes are fun and Forge is really cool too (though there are LOTS of things I wish were in it that are not; such as a bigger area to Forge in). Spartan Ops looks and feels promising enough but it really is just a round of Firefight with "go here and do that" objectives. I'll add anything else if I think about it. EDIT: I just realized this: "Story isn't a concern of mine when it comes to Halo. I've never praised Halo for its story before and it doesn't look like this'll be the installment that'll change that." Halo 4's story was good enough to change that. Impressive.

Synchronized
I actually just got an Xbox over the weekend for this (a Halo 4 Limited Edition Xbox at that). The game is so much fun and I actually like the MW3 inspired updates that make the gameplay much more creative. Not too fond of the campaign generally but I'll probably play it. Tentacruel
Love the game except for Spartan Ops, which I only kinda like.
