Note: You should NEVER put me in the same category as him.

He isn't anything to be proud of, I'll agree, but I can't diverge from the truth. Unless you just want me to not mention you. Even then, I'll still mean what I said.
If you want a better explanation, it's that no matter what you're doing, you're conforming to something.

If you're not conforming to A, you're conforming to B.
If you're not conforming to B, you're conforming to C.
If you're not conforming to n[sub]n[/sub], you're conforming to n[sub]n+1[/sub].
Therefore
If you're not conforming to something you're still conforming to something else. So it's impossible to be a complete non-conformist.

That's not exactly begging the question.

However, you could technically say that the combination of everything that you do and do not conform to is different than anyone else. I've yet to find someone who likes EVERYTHING I like and dislikes EVERYTHING I dislike. Though TheComposer did make a run for that title before revealing he was from Cali.

The main point, I suppose, is that you're not being a non-conformist just because of one thing you're not conforming to.

Still, I love my modus whatthefuckens

not-A -> A
not-A
A

Best Tautology.

But the main MAIN point is that you shouldn't compare me to Izaya. ._.

Conformity is the act of matching attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors to group norms.[sup][1][/sup] Norms are implicit rules shared by a group of individuals, that guide their interactions with others and among society or social group. This tendency to conform occurs in small groups and/or society as a whole, and may result from subtle unconscious influences, or direct and overt social pressure. Conformity can occur in the presence of others, or when an individual is alone. For example, people tend to follow social norms when eating or watching television, even when alone.
People often conform from a desire for security within a group—typically a group of a similar age, culture, religion, or educational status. This is often referred to as groupthink: a pattern of thought characterized by self-deception, forced manufacture of consent, and conformity to group values and ethics, which ignores realistic appraisal of other courses of action. Unwillingness to conform carries the risk of social rejection. Conformity is often associated with adolescence and youth culture, but strongly affects humans of all ages.[sup][2][/sup]
Although peer pressure may manifest negatively, conformity can have good or bad effects depending on the situation. Driving on the correct side of the road could be seen as beneficial conformity.[sup][3][/sup] Conformity influences formation and maintenance of social norms, and helps societies function smoothly and predictably via the self-elimination of behaviors seen as contrary to unwritten rules. In this sense it can be perceived as (though not proven to be) a positive force that prevents acts that are perceptually disruptive or dangerous.
As conformity is a group phenomenon, factors such as group size, unanimity, cohesion, status, prior commitment, and public opinion help determine the level of conformity an individual displays.
Therefore, as I see it, there hardly is an issue at all. Humans, being social creatures, conform to different groups based on their very own individuality. Conformity and individuality do not conflict, rather, they are the 2 sides of 1 coin.

Hey, there are two levels on YCM.

Okay And No

I'm on "Okay."
Izaya is on "No."

It's fairly straightforward.

There is actually one level on YCM. It's called "person." Some people in this level think more highly of themselves than others in the same level. This is called arrogance. It's not very mature, is it?

On Topic: I don't go out of my way to conform or be individual. I just do what I want to do and if others like me for it or don't like me for it, not my problem.

I get along with everyone without having to compromise my individuality at the expense of not really fitting in anywhere.

My secret?
Not being completely hideous and smelling good.

...

Well, that's just half the truth... I worked my ass off really hard (sometimes literally, lol) just so I could become more independent and reliable as a person.

They are on the same level, in a way. They are programmed interfaces created by people to act a little like people. How do you know that I'm not a programmed, artificially intelligent program designed to operate like a human and advertise products?
