Holla.

C.C. has expressed interest in hosting, them, however. It's going to be a bare-knuckle fight between the both of us. O.o
Just in case this wasn't incredibly obvious, with that single ignorant remark about the 'laziness of the GFX team' there is absolutely no possible chance that you will ever host a future YCMA.
I thought I might mention that after reading Dae and Rai's posts, sorry friend, perhaps next time you might not be as ignorant.

I know that it is hard to revive a dying site, but catering to the members of the forum is probably the best way to boost activity. Start something that the members would like to be a part of, not something that someone will think they want to be a part of.
Thing is, when a mod asks about events people want to be part of, the response is usually "oh yeah, whatever you guys do, sure".
I can definitely understand it. It's hard to come up with something on top of your mind. But at the same time, it doesn't make it easier for us to find out what people want to see D: (minus the ideas mentioned in this thread).

And there were winners announced during the last Awards?O.o

C.C. messaged some of us about them, but she left after a while and couldn't host them.
Dunno, maybe if you ask her, she'd be ready to do them?

I can see that the GFX team needs more directions though. I personally like what the Awards looked like (even though they never got anywhere), but the organisation was bad last time.

I don't know if my opinion will make any difference, considering that even my original account on here (forgotten about after several years absence) never reached even 1,500 posts, so I feel a bit dwarfed here, but I would like to contribute.

For a solution for the awards, what if only a handful of them are produced (such as Best Roleplayer, Best Pop Culture, Best Realistic, etc...), and each award is given to a single person to create to make each one a bit unique (for example each artist is given a shape to work with, and told to have at it), months in advance, so only the personal details like name and picture need to be added at the conclusion of the awards?

And as for catering to the members here, why not try both? A widespread 'Duelist Kingdom' tourney, a little like the show where winners get particular points as awarded by a mod; then have a more elite tourney for the competitive players, and the new members who've proven themselves in the initial tourney?

Just my thoughts on this, cause I really do like this site; I refuse to use yugico or another site...call it misguided loyalty or whatever, but I want YCM to prosper again, as I can see just how far its fallen since i was originally a member; the activity was actually too much for me to handle, even.

I've been hearing lots of great ideas. Special Events, Advertising, but what I think we need is a team. A team of 9 to 11 users who are active and would not abuse their power. The team will make 5 departments, each with 1~2 captains and 2~3 members recruited by the team members, who in turn, will be the captains. (There's a bit here where he said something about a "Neutral Tie Breaker" which I don't really understand.) Each department handles a certain kind of problem the site has. One will take care of advertising, another will handle promotions (What's the difference between advertising and promotions, you tool?), another one will make new events (What kind of events? Easter hunt?) the fourth one will deal with morale (Are we raising an army here?) and the last one would be "Customer Service" to take in complaints about the site and relaying them to the other departments. (Something foolish about old houses and how it's like YCM) If this works, there would be 5 departments and 1 "Open Department" (What on Earth is that?) If a department were to have 2 captains, one of the captains are demoted and will become a Vice-Captain, with the same power. (So what's the point of Vice-captains, you bozo?) We'll need members who are REALLY GOOD on certain fields. For example, a cheerful member would belong in the Morale Department or someone who is good at making and arranging events belong in the Event Making Department. You get what I mean, right? We don't need people who don't know what they're doing running Departments. Is there anything I missed?

If there any thing i left out let me know ok?

Hello, I'm more or less a "ghost" member of this site. This means I'm around and do stuff but I don't make a memorable impact on this site. Which is both a good and bad thing. Anyway,s to the topic at hand.

I think what Chance is doing in the TCG by making tournaments with a custom format is at least helping people stay active. Much like what others have said, more event type things need to happen in the other sections. This cannot be doubted. Rather then just 1 group hold the events there could be a rotation. Like if say there was a monthly tourney, instead of 1 person hosting it every month, a different person could be swapped. This way, if the there would always be someone to host the event as scheduled. That's just an idea though and comment on it as you see fit.

Just that guy you'll probably forget,
D.A.

Thanks for the fix ....[sub] could be nicer about it ....[/sub]

If a dept would be in a tie when they are voting on something, the tie breaker who is neutral will cast the tie breaking vote so that dept. can move on.

Promotion would protmote new events and etc. on the site.

Advertising will be off site bringing new blood in.

The new events dept. would decide which event to do ......

Army? hahaha Raine is all the army we need .... OT: Ycmaker has been busy the site falling apart so, alot of users are not in a good mood because of it. The morale dept. will try to change that, if there nothing but sad sacks on here people will just leave becuase of that!

"Open" as in if we need a new dept. Will have a slot open for it, (in case i miss something.)

So people do not fight with each other other something stupid when there a bigger taunting task that needs attending to. [maybe that needed re-worded?]

Bozo? heh heh, i'll remember that!

You just say "this idea is stupid", you do not present a proper and or valid reason why, this is a bad idea. With that said, you are now more than welcome to tell all of us why.

I'm trying to come up with a idea that is a little more than "some, new event YAY!"

New events would be a start but that only be a BAND-AID for the promblem at hand, we need a better solution.

YO, did i miss something?

Pika did just try to make a fun event for the forum. What happened, you ask? Less than 10 joined.

I think we know the problem, the members are as lazy as the admin.
That or not a lot of members were interested. TBH, I wasn't that interested because I didn't know what the heck was going on. That and I saw it too late. What we need is events that everyone can understand. Bring back the scavenger hunts of 09 and 10 for goodness sake! Stuff like that works. It gets people to actually roam the site, exploring places they wouldn't normally go to on a regular basis.

Yeah I remember back a couple of years ago when I first made my account, then I left with the others as YCM was fading away. I really do miss the old days back when this place was so alive, it seems as if it will die out completely someday.

I like this idea! Scavenger hunts!

Also, I wanted to do Pika's game, but I saw it to late. :'(

Speaking on the above posts, I did not want to participate, but I wanted to keep following it, and possibly comment every now and then if allowed, but I really had no idea of what was happening. The topic was locked and unlocked to feed us about who was out of it, only to be locked again. There were no posts and opinions post-start from the participants, and I didn' really know where to look for the "current challenge" or individual ones, or info like that. Maybe it was in the OP and I just missed it.
I DID like the effort for an unusual event though.
and the idea was interesting... and I see why it'd be locked... it's just my curiousity of the process that took place for each individual.

More on topic, I've been here sinse November 2008, and find it very ironic that, I remember hearing YCMaker saying that one of the reasons he ditched the MyBB server for this one, was because the previous one occationally crashed due to the huge amount of activity (around 1000 member online at any given time, and at most, lowering to 600 at America's night time), and that change is the cause for my loosing half of my friends here. Most people actually dislike big changes, but some among them are willing to keep trying... I eventually got used to it.

For some post in this thread: Tournaments that in some way or another "ban the meta" don't necessarily do so to appeal to casual players, but to make a balanced enviroment to play in, because half of the time at least, the meta is unpleasant (and I'm not just ranting about recent years or anything, I mean that the meta is always "fixed" at the start, and always breaks without exception halfway through, because that's the commersial part of the game). So it's not for "casual" as much as it is for a "balanced meta", even if it's just a very small amount of people doing it.

Suggestions here must include specific efforts. I see the "let's make events" as a bit generic. I can't blame anyone because I don't think I have something myself, but what I'm trying to say is, if anyone has a good specific idea, it'd be nice to post it here.
-I want to start by asking what a good event would be for Realistic Cards, since that's the section where I started posting, and without TCG, it'd be my dominant section in my profile. It'd be the first one where I'd like to try personally speaking.

We could make a sort of contest that encouraged everyone's participation, but it'd be in the wrong section because Contests section exists...
Oh.... what about.... a "from scratch" team booster for realistic cards? as in:
-People separate in teams to create a collective pack of X cards, each team with it's own thread and maybe even team name. The theme(s) can be subject to discussion. Under the main condition that the pack must be self-sufficient and disregard current existing cards or even current game standards of power.
Idea 1: A base set that would be your best shot at the best possible enviroment to "start the game cardpool"
Idea 2: Still be a sort of "base", but assign sort of pack theme for all teams to follow, or for each team to try out a different project (whatever sounds more healthy for a competition).

^it's a bit of a weird idea, to be honest, but I figured I had nothing to lose by saying it.

Is it just me thats realised this? I think that people have been leaving because their are no XYZs. Now i know that sounds a bit stupid, but think about it for a minute. The only other card maker site which makes XYZs i can find is yugico, their XYZs look realistic, but the text and every other type of cardis wrong, so maybe, wait... i dont actually know what im going with here, just started talking really, can anyone add on to this?

Okay, look, you went all the way down here, where you can not have passed up those big, big words at the top saying WE. WILL. NOT. BE. GETTING. XYZ. MONSTER.
At least not soon. This has been said so many times before that this comment made me feel less inclined to want Xyz Monsters.

No, you're the first person to ever realize this. Our board and this topic have greatly benefited from your insight.

Set made by a lot of members: Sounds like it'd be a badly organized mess. No offense.

ive been on this site for years, but have never really used the forum, unitl now, in fact i only used the forum to find out why XYZs havnt been put in yet. well now that i understand the situation, makes me a little less confused. anyway i have noticed that what most people have been doing is using yugico for XYZs and YCM for the others, since YCM look more realistc. I guess we can just put up witht hat until YCM gets around to adding XYZ cards.

Or, you can use Magic Set Editor, it works just as well as either this or Yugico, with very simple to understand controls and layouts for cards. I do believe it has XYZ monsters on it already

It's also easily modifiable, so changing the frame into a custom one or anything like that is easy. It's downloadable, and superior to both Yugico and YCM in that regard.

Anyway...

I'm not sure if this'll work. I mean, it's technically just an inflated contest.

My idea's probably impossible, but I may as well suggest it anyway...is it possible to have a contest held between all the members of YCM, and the winner will have their card displayed - somehow - on the forum's main page (or something like that), in full view of all YCMers? Or maybe it'd just be an announcement linking to the card thread itself...I don't know. I'm not exactly sure who'd do the selection though, but I am sure that some people would like to have their made-up card displayed in front of everyone.

Dead admins are a serious problem.

The best objective would be to get everyone to transfer to a mirror site with active admins. But good luck getting people to actually do that. Let alone get the flow of new members that this site has.
That... sounds really good.

I'l make a new fourm tomorrow... hopefuly.
