"This pod sure isn't comfortable. Everything inside here is just poking m- Oh, the screen is lighting up..."

"Huh? Oh, right, got it!"

"I suppose it makes sense we should party up at the beginning of this. Testing the single player can be done within a party after all."

"Oooh, okay, the login! Right, take my pass...and..."

"Yes! Got into the Beta, so far so good! Now then, register account...ogre...ri...ka...and password...done!"

"Enter the game, obviously. Hmm, I like how I can literally type, but its not immersive just ye- Oh, the Character Customization, yes! Okay, straight to Ogre...and...eh, I'll go with default Ogre female, I should get armour soon enough..."

"Claymore, with Psyche up and Rage Rush set. Lovely!"

"Hmm, the screens gone dark...oh, the headpiece is covering my eyes; this'll be f-FWAA!"

The login process went swiftly, and all of a sudden she felt a light-headedness like no other as she shook her head looking around a small little beach, her form resting upon the sturdy support of a tough hammock resting by a palm tree and with barrel at side. Disbelief overwhelmed Rika as she soon after sat up from the spot and looked around in complete disbelief. Her feet, albeit in boots, felt the grass and heard its silent squelch, the dewy greenery evident to her touch, the very ocean air just so...so real! She could not believe what was going on, it was like a dream, a fantasy, a different world altogether that she'd been thrown in the middle of, and without any question Rika was more than happy to enjoy it. A deep breath, she turned around and sighed happily.

"Starter Town: not the most imaginative of names, but it sure does welcome you." She cheered happily, spotting the few NPCs with the few items, not one of them for free naturally. Damn glad she did her homework, she walked around the place, clenching her hand as she familiarized herself with the VR system, genuinely feeling the skin of her new Ogre Avatar, the soft, yet tough red skin. She even let her hands grace to her horns, feeling the tough shoulder bone, and then to her forehead horns; even through her hair as she went about feeling things, she was so content in the new and amazing world of Dungeon Zero.

The world, temporarily named Tierra, was indeed out of this world, Rika couldn't believe she was in a game, but the reality factor came in as soon as she saw, on the top right point of her vision, a small window entitled "New Quest Available!" Naturally, since it was the first of many, Rika decided to post-pone it ever so slightly as she turned North to head down the river-side Creak City. She knew all too well the shanty town was the only place she'd get any decent beginner's armour, and she'd do her best to reach the spot...until she ran into a road-block.

Strange, she thought. Why would there be a roadblock? Naturally, she decided to head over to the NPC Guardsman as she said "Excuse me, why's there a roadblock here?" The surprise she got when she heard the response, however, was uncanny.

"Sorry ma'am! There's been a kidnappin' of a resident in the ci'y a'ead, an' we' gotta figure wheres she's gone! 'er 'ouse suffered a lot of colla'eral damage, so we figures it were a very big attack!" the guard replied in a Cockney accent, speaking to Rika as if it were a conversation, a legitimate conversation! Not only that, but the second guard turned to the first with a face of somewhat confusion and he shook his head: Rika, overall, decided not to think too much about the complex AI and instead enjoy the experience as she walked away from an inevitable argument.

Instead, she opened up her Menu slot, which was engaged by the player using their thumb to touch a fingernail. Spotting the quest log on the array of windows that soon cluttered her vision she sniped out a few including the Party Screen, seeing only a little cute face of her avatar in the window, followed by the second screen donned Quest Log. Touching the air where it was placed in her vision she opened up the window and, with a slick animation, a single Quest layed out on the menu, 001 - To Creak City! Reading out the content, according to the instructions, she'd have to head out westward down the seaside path, and heck she wanted to, but the words resonated in her head "Wait for the others!"

So, waiting by the spawning hammock she sighed, taking her claymore and closing the obvious NO PVP warning before resting upon it, shutting her eyes a little waiting for the next login.

Welcome to Dungeon Zero Online!

The blue screen flickered on and displayed its heartwarming message as a static feeling overtook the air around her. With a slight pop, her new dedicated VR pod sealed itself. The chair was oddly comfortable for being steel- odd, considering VR pods aren't usually made to sit down in.

"Now, what to do," Thought Izanami, placing the constraints over the proper places on her body. Headpiece, check. Visor, check. Nervous sensors, check.

"All systems go," She declared. Using the virtual keyboard, she typed in a username, nekozami, and her usual 48-kanji character password.

As she pressed the enter key, her head began reeling, and everything went black. Literally everything; it wasn't as if she was sitting down in a chair anymore... her posture had changed. She was standing up. A cool, brisk air blew around her. It smelled of the ocean.

Slowly, she opened her eyes, and was taken aback by the sight. A beautiful blue ocean, prettier than anything she had ever seen before.

Weird sensations came over her. She tried to walk on the land, only finding herself stumbling along. This body was unnatural...

She then noticed she had forgotten to choose her race, and pressed her thumb to her index finger's nail. A menu came up, displaying the different races and explaining the pros and cons of each one. Aesthetically liking the Mer race out of them all the best, she picked it and customized it to her liking.

"Nyaaa~." She stretched her body. Her proportions... She looked down. She was definitely flatter than she was in real life, a blessing and a curse at the same time. She placed her hands on her butt. That was smaller as well...

"Damnit, looks like seduction might be harder!" She laughed and began walking forwards, not paying attention to where she was going. She bumped into a red oni girl.

"Hey watch where you're-" She stopped, and then looked over the oni girl's body. How... voluptuous it was! And that clothing! "Hey, oni girl! Where'd you get that skimpy clothing? I just love it! Here, I'll trade mine for yours!" Izanami began tugging at the girl's clothing without much hesitation, intent on pulling it off.

A blank white screen flickered on, lighting the darkness shadowing the boy's face. Several messages began to sound and the boy just listened until it was required of him to do something.

"Please submit your beta access pass now."

"Please register an account using your prefered username and pasword."

The boy typed in his usual thirteen character password as he decided on his username. "KAZMA" he typed in and the game continued to the next step.

"Here is where you may create your avatar which you will be using within the world of Dungeon Zero."

Kazma scrolled through the many starter options as he decided how to build his character. He decided on a Human character and pieced together his clothes and appearance. He tried to make it look similar to himself without being uncanny-- except for the red eyes, of course. Nobody normal has red eyes. Right after, he was able to make the choice of which starting abilites and weapon he would use.

"Strong Will and Jurryskils... with a Standard Starter Sword and Shield." he thought to himself as he continued to the next step.

The screan then went dark and the head piece within the pod covered his face. Before he knew it, Kazma had been spawned into the world. He fealt a little uneasy and light headed at first but it went away in seconds. He looked around and he could see in front of him, a path leading into a forest and behind him-- a beach and a palm tree with a small barrel beside it. Also beside that palm tree was what seemed to be two other players. Two women from what he could tell. "Probably guys." he though to himself. An Ogre and a Mermaid. There was two races he didn't expect a lot of people to pick. He then noticed the warmth of the sun and the heated sand below his feat. The smell of the ocean and the sound of birds and the other players. The other players which he decided to introduce himself to. They were, afterall, other beta players like himself. He turned towards them and said,

"Hey, I'm Kazma." he said with a soft smile.

Taiga felt a little uneasy sitting in the cold dark pod as the program started up, but it was mostly due to the excitement of it all. He provided input as it was asked, and the calming computer voice continued him through the Initial steps. After he entered his credentials and username "Torabe", he was taken to the race selection. He decided on Elf, figuring it the most suited to his playstyle.

Taiga finished customizing his avatar, giving it the Archery skill "Straight Shot" and Elf ability "Photosynthesis". Giving it a final overview, he hit enter. the Computers voice ushered him into the game world as everything instantly turned pitch-black.

Taiga felt a jolt go through his body, followed by a residual tingling sensation. He opened his eyes and rose from the rope swing hammock, as if he had just fallen asleep there moments ago. Looking around, he could see the bright blue ocean in front of him and the even bluer sky above him, not to mention the town of bamboo shacks littering the area. He clenched his gloved fists a few times, getting a feel for this new form. His sight was sharp, much improved from his real eyes. He rubbed his arms with his hands, his skin was smooth to the touch and had an eerie, faint sheen as the warm sunlight fell on it. He then swung his arms above his head and to both sides, feeling reassured that he didn't hit the inside of the pod.

Satisfied, he turned towards the bamboo shacks and a lively group of 3 characters crossed his vision. "Wow." Torabe said aloud, moving towards them, "The NPCs in this game are impressive. So lifelike." As he said this he realized his mistake, noticed the ghostly indicators floating about their heads. Other Beta Players, each of them. He didn't think he'd have to deal with them so soon. Quick on his feet he added "I kid, of couse. I'm Torabe. Nice to meet you" scratching the back of his head and giving a cautious laugh.

"I-i don't know about this onee-san..." The words fell from the blue haired teen's mouth in a quick mutter. "I mean sure I like these kinds of things but...Using it to, as you put it "reinvent" myself...Well...Don't you think that's a bit much?" She looked behind her to the older girl, who also had blue hair. "Of course I don't think it's too much, in fact I think this is a good idea. Besides archery the only thing you do is stay in your room with this anime fetish of yours. It's un-healthy." Preached the older sister, but the younger still wasn't sure. "Aoi....I just...Don't feel comfortable doing this." Aoi placed her hands on the unsure girl's shoulders. "Nezumi, just trust me. This will be good for you. You can go to a new virtual world, where no one will know who you are, and you can show them that behind that wired otaku is a lovable friendly girl. Maybe after this you'll have some more confidence to be like how you are at home with other people." She smiled in her sisterly way. How was Nezumi supposed to argue with that, when she did in fact feel comforted by those words. "And you won't be alone, Noburo will be with you."

Nezumi looked over to where Noburo was being hammered by Midori, the baby of the four, to also join the game to help with his fighting problem. "So if anything happens he'll be there to help, and you guys can always just log out or whatever when you've had enough for the day. So how about it? Will you give it a try?" After a few moments of debating with herself, Nezumi gave in with a sigh, "Alright...A-and who knows, maybe you're right and I'll get some confidence."

Aoi crushed Nezumi in a hug, "Ah~! Haha! That's the spirit! And just have fun, and be nice to other players too. Even if this wasn't to help you guys, being chosen to do the beta run for the game is pretty cool, don't you think?"

"Uhhh, yeah." She smiled. Nezumi was still apprehensive about this whole thing, but felt better knowing she wouldn't be alone.

Before long she found herself in a pod - a very tight and uncomfortable one. Steadying her resolve with a shaky breath, she began her log on into the game. The basic registering screen came on, asking for Screen name, password and the likes. She picked something simple she could remember. Then the fun part came, making the character. Being an anime/gaming Otaku she did have some skills with rpg games, and the basics of certain character races. Knowing that she went with what she was most comfortable with; an elf.

"Ah, we get two starting abilities...um....I-i guess Straight shot...and...Natural Immunity......Hm...Oh-yeah! A bow definitely....Of course female....uh...Th-that's it right...." She thought that would be a good start. Good aim and resistant to poisons, was the balanced way to go. She was glad she went with elf, having a bow may put her more at ease. Not only that, but knowing her brother he was gonna go with an ogre so he go head first into battle. It'll be best if she was able to back him up. A strange feeling of nausiousness washed over her, and she closed her eyes hoping it'll go away. When she opened them again she was staring up at a blue sky. "W-wha...O-oh, I must be int he virtual world. Strange....I don't feel any different than before." She stood up examining herself, and feeling the pointedness of her ears. "I'm really an elf...This is so cool!" She laughed, only to blush when she noticed her starting clothes. "Th-these aren't clothes at all....This is nothing but a piece of cloth.."

"Where is Noburo..." She looked around hoping to see her brother. Though...She wouldn't really know it was him since they looked completely different. Some distance away from her was a group of other players, so she assumed since they had player indicators above their heads. Was he already over there? "Doubt it....I'll wait for a bit to see." She mumbled, not too comfortable going into the group alone. They might think she's disgusting cause of her hobb-Wait! "No one here knows who I am...At least not unless I tell them. Th-that's right so....Maybe Aoi was right." With more confidence she took a step forward only to take three steps back, "B-but I think I'll still wait for Noboru..."

"You wouldn't dare..." Noburo stood by the large pod. His hands were in the air and a drop of sweat could be seen running down the side of his face. In front of him was Midori and in her hands she was holding an oddly shaped and colored gun. There was also a malicious grin on her face. "Oh, what am I kidding? You'd have no regrets shooting your own flesh and blood."

The grin on Midori's face grew even wider. "Oh, brother. You really do know me so well. Now will you please listen to your sweet little sister's request to play this game with your other absolutely adorable sister. It was really hward to get this beta access for you."

"You hacked into my email and used it to sign up for the beta, you little bastard." Noburo took a step forward but Midori aiming the gun at his at head made him take two back. His feet hit against the pod. "Dammit..."

"Me? Hack? How could you accuse me of something so sinister of your own beloved sister. You left the password on a sticky note right next to the computer." A larger sweat drop fell from the side of Noburo's face realizing that she was right. "And it's not like you were using it. I got rid of all the spam cluttering your inbox. Really, you should be thanking me. I'm just too sweet to you. Now stop stalling and get in the pod or I will shoot."

This time Noburo had his own grin. "Well it seems like you're just going to have to shoot. Because there's no way in hell I'm going to let myself be locked in that piece of sh*t."

"Okay!" She pulled the trigger on the strange gun. A potato suddenly came flying out of the barrel and hit Noburo right in the forehead. With that hit he fell into the seat of the pod. His eyes looked almost hypnotic and if he had a bit more conciousness he'd probably see stars spinning around his head. Unfortunately, due to his current state he couldn't really see anything. Midori proceeded to hop up onto his lap before the pod closed. "See? Now your sweet cute innocent little sister is even going to login and create your avatar for you. But don't worry, I'll be thinking about you when I make it. Now..." She quickly cracked her knuckles before she started typing. "Let's get started!"

A few minutes passed before Noburo's eyes finally opened again. Looking up he was surprised to see that he was actually looking up at the sun. "God dammit. That f*cking b**** actually shot me with that damn potato gun and to add to it she dragged me outside. That bastard could have given me a cold." He moved his hand over to his forehead to feel the bruise he figured he must have. "Holy crap this is one hell of a bru-wait..." He wrapped his hand around the so called bruise. "What the hell?!" He sat up and finally looked around him. "I don't think I'm in Kansas anymore...God dammit, she actually got me in this stupid game." He walked over to the beach's water so he could see his reflection. "So she put f*cking horns on me. I wonder if I can impale anything with them. Red skin. White hair. Barely any clothing whatsoever....WHY THE F*CK ARE THESE MY CLOTHES?!"

"This is one big 'ole hunk of metal." Zachary practically hopped inside the Pod, attempting to find a comfortable position within. Screen, check! Keyboard, check! Blinky lights, check! About as psyched as he has ever been, he tapped in his Beta code, eager to get his hands to work in the game.

"According to this little pamphlet thingy, this is supposed to test...AI? Or something? Virtual reality...boy, I didn't even think I'd get in. I must be the luckiest guy in the world right now!"

The screen lit up, far brighter than before, asking for the usual fare. Name, password, etc. "Obviously, GunpowderMan. I'm going to use the heck out of all the guns in this game."

He speedily typed in his username and usual password, eager to see the next screen. Excitement was not something he could contain very well, so he occasionally stumbled over his own fingers in his haste, causing an occasional warning screen at times. But he managed to reach the customization screen without much trouble.

"Alright...not AS many character choices as I would have expected...but meh. Beta." A good chunk of his time was just spent reading through the different species', abilities, and weapons. Despite the typical First Person Shooter behavior of "Screw this, I wanna kill things" that he's so used to, his thought process can take hours when it comes to choosing such things.

"...I've seen my brother play World of Warcraft once, and Dwarves could use guns, so I'll choose a dwarf!"

Or not.

"Basic armor, basic weapons, and this thing is on! Engage!" A headpiece lowered over his head, snugly fitting on. "Oh, hey. This is kinda like to Google Glasses thi-BLRRRDURBRO-"

The sudden chill of cold water washed over his entire body, soon dulling out the sound of whatever world his was in. In a flash, he began to flail, attempting to get his sinking body out of whatever body of water he happened to be in. Sudden memories from movies that Dwarves can't swim began to flood his head, and terror coursed through his veins. Before long, a breakthrough! He was he heavy enough to reach the bottom. Madly, he pushed himself in the uphill direction, hoping it reached mainland and not some small deserted island. Soon enough, his head breached the surface, and he sprinted along towards the beach for about a quarter of a second and crashed down into the sand, face up, panting like a dog, with the occasional cough.

"Ah...ah...this...this is..." He slowly managed to to stand on his feet, where he was hit by the sight of the game in full. The heads up display, the beautiful scenery of the beach, and ocean where he nearly drowned like a legless dog...

"This...is AWESOME!" He had no hesitation in yelling his excitement out loud. The only next logical step would be to examine his new body. He was short, pudgy, and had the manliest beard of all men. Torn and Tattered fittings, the weight of a Warhammar on his back...he was a full fledged dwarf. He took off his horned helmet he was wearing, examining it.

"...This is the best thing I've ever had in my entire life."

Rika's first in-game bump was, actually, both exciting and equally as irritating as it would be in reality, as she turned to the person whom had pushed her, with a little bit of a look up and down her figure: deep blue hair with radiant green eyes, she did look rather perfect for a merfolk of the sort, naturally she assumed she'd be a mermaid. However it wasn't that which caused a radiant blush to Rika's face. Rather, the comment that nekozami made about her attire brought her to squeal with modesty, eyes watering as she swiftly flustered and she waved her arms flaboyantly looking in the mermaid's direction.

"It's the default I sware!" Rika squeaked as she pleaded to sway the player's opinion, before looking down to her clothes and frowning. What could she say, she was in a fur leotard with a rag of fur to cover her hips. Typical. Give female characters scanty clothes. Fortunately, the game was realistic enough to remove the whole aspect of bikini armour controversies, with many of the items being more much practical. They had to be, after all: the game was virtual reality, and the enemies wouldn't focus their attacks away from the exposed flesh, but rather at them.

Rika practically throwing her hands to nekozami's, she smiles nervously and shook her head saying "N-n-no, that's quite alright! We can test the trading system later! Ehehehe..." in dire straights not to test out any possible filtering and/or censoring systems. Fact is, even if they existed, she'd not wish to...exhilarate...the other testers in the game just yet. After all, they needed to party up first. Doing so would test both the single player and party functions simulatneously. Honestly, they couldn't stress enough how crucial the partying aspect really was...

Rather, she went to take her hands and shake them as she said "You must be one of the other Beta testers then; my name's ogre rika, but just call me Rika." with a smile proclaiming no sin. Soon afterwards, yet another Beta player came into the world, this time a human, definitely a human. What caught Rika's curiosity was the red eyes, maybe he was a vampire fanboy wanting to start up a guild? Well, he couldn't be, his fair skin contradicted that hypothesis. Rather she simply bowed to the boy, whom introduced himself to her, and the mermaid, as Kazma.

"You might have heard, or not." Rika started "Anyway, my name's Rika. Its a pleasure to meet you Kazma." Eyes closed with a smile, she offered him a handshake, a friendly gesture, better to make friends earlier on than to merely rush right through the plot line. Again, the repetetive voice of the head of the Testing committee roared to party up, and as soon as he glance turned to yet another tester, the world suddenly feeling so much smaller with each new person inside it, she smiled and offered him, too, the same greeting. A bow, a smile, a handshake gesture and her name in turn. Being polite never seemed so fun in her life.

How coincidental it was to hear the cussing of a very loud ogre; jumping from shock, she turned towards the owner of the voice, a male ogre...in...scanty armour...With a sigh, having also caught a glance of the Elf, she inwardly knew her first complaint: more appropriate default clothing. Such a really big issue over the stuff it, but she had to brush the thought away. Waving to the two newbies, and the soon arriving dwarf with a smile, finding his atittude so much more a breath of fresh air, she soon after immediately sent part requests to everyone in sight, hollering out "Okay everybody, lets party up and get this thing on the road."

Not wishing to invoke any rivalries between the party, Rika opted for the "Leaderless Party." Sure, testing the Rollcall Ability would be interesting, seeing as it sent a request to the party to warp to her location, but the leader would come out soon in one of the players: why rush things along?

Ultimately idle she walked to Kazma and called out to the rest, hoping by now they'd joined up, "Okay, everyone, lets do the common sense thing here and grind up XP as much as we can!" as she glanced over to the only open route, the path westwards from the camp. After waiting for the partying scenario to resolve, she's immediately make her way towards said road, in hopes of finding a few initial monsters she could hunt down and slay.

With a small little window popping up stating "Coast Pass" confirmed she was no longer within the safe confines of the town, Rika looked around for a monster or two, she spotted a lovely sight for the novice players: a herd of five...ten...twenty...one Cows; three for each player, offering a lovely droping range from leather to horns to beef and the likes! So, needless to say at the moment Rika drew her sword, the target's health bars appeared on queue. The sunlight's grimmer on the claymore granted her a lovely sparkle as she smiled to the foes, and dashing ahead, somewhat surprised she, a human being with little to no sword training whatsoever, could make use of such an effective two-hander. Bringing the blade at a target cow she dealt a powerful strike for such a small level, 10 damage to a 21 HP mob was a very valued dish. However, the target cow used up an attack in calling for two more to join it. Rika, then, cried out "Guys, take three of these things for yourselves, and keep grinding!" with a laughter, before re-engaging her fray, using the technique Zwei Strike upon a fresh cow, one hit dealing 10 & 9 damage due to the ability's effect.

Soon after two cows dealt a total of 9 damage to Rika, Rage Rush began to take effect, as Rika's simple swing easily dealt 19 damage to the weakest of the cows to finish it off. Impressed by the natural tanking abiilty she drove herself in striking down the additional mobs and, taking a total of 15 XP, she suddenly felt an aura around her burst with a harmonious sound, her LV bar rising from 1 to 2, since the Lv 1 - 2 Cap was a simple feat of 10 XP. The next total was 30, and she'd only had five on her, but she was damn determined.

After the others had their fights, Rika would indulge in the drops of the cow, 2 pieces of raw beef. Sadly without a knife, she couldn't acquire the leather that could've allowed her to somewhat armour up, regardless she turned back to the others and hollered out "How's everyone doing?"

Torabe accepted Rika's handshake, and gave a small nod and wave to each other player in kind. His finger hovered over the "accept party invite" button, hesistant to join up with other people. It would be nerve-wracking, and he could probably make it his own for a while, but later game things wouldn't be so easy. He decided it'd better easier to level, and safer if he partied with the other players and used their help. He hit Accept followed the others along, keeping to himself.

They came upon a herd of cattle, and at Rika's suggestion, started target practice. Torabe drew his bow, loaded it with an arrow from his quiver and started running, faster than he'd ever run in reality. The bright sun warmed his skin, activating his Photosynthesis ability. He flanked hard to the right of the herd and took aim at one of the cows' head. Loosing his arrow, it hit the target...in the stomach. His improved vision overloaded his brain at that speed, so hitting his target wouldn't be easy yet until he became used to it.

He stopped running and glanced at the now charging cow's health bar. That last attack had done 7 damage. Not bad he thought, but I can do better. He set his feet firmly on the ground, making use of his Straight Shot ability, staring down the shaft of his arrow and firing a second shot. The arrow pierced the cow in the skull, dealing 9 points of damage. It was still coming, and had called two more cows to it's aid. With another quick shot the beast staggered and collapsed on the ground, halfway to Torabe's position. A few more arrows and the second cow was dealt with, leaving the third cow still closing the gap. Torabe got in two shots but the animal was already upon him rearing it's head ready to bite down on his shoulder. He dropped his ranged weapon and grabbed one of his knives from its sheath at his waist. In one swift motion he slashed back-handed at it's neck with his right hand, draining it's last health points, leaving Torabe without a scratch on him.

A progress bar in his peripheral vision filled and informed him he had reached level 2 and had 25 xp to go until level 3. "Why don't I think it will get any easier after this?" he thought aloud. He crouched to the ground to loot the cow's body. It had dropped a chunk of beef and Torabe took his knife to the leather pelt, instinctively knowing how to remove it properly. Doing the same for his other kills, he now had 1 piece of meat and 3 cows hides stored in his inventory, along with his unused heatlh potions. Pleased with his first success in the game, he moved back towards where he had taken off, rejoining the group. "Who wants to trade me for these 2 pieces of leather? I'd rather not carry it all myself."

Kazma accepted Rika's gesture and shook her hand. Afterwards, he stood and observed as each of the other players entered the world and soon, Rika began talking about partying up. Kazma accepted the party request without much thought. Rika walked over and stood beside kazma to suggest to everyone that we should all go and grind up on experience. Because this was what Kazma planned to do in the first place, he followed along with the group and they eventually came upon a group of cows. Rika and an elf guy lashed into them, killing three each.

"I'd better get in there before they're all gone." Kazma thought to himself.

He scrolled through his equipment menu and held out his left hand to equip his Standard Sword. Takes a couple of steps forward, he looked down and grabbed a decent, palm-sized, stone. Activating his Jurryskills ability, he charged up and threw the stone and struck one of the cows in the thigh doing a small sliver of damage. This caused the cow to charge towards him and Kazma returned the favor ran straight at the cow. Sword in hand, he side stepped and sliced straight through the cow's head, causing it to lose the majority of its HP. Just then, Kazma was tackled down by a second cow that he did not see coming and lost about a quarter of his own health. The two cows stood their ground as Kazma scrolled his equipment menu and equipped his basic shield to his right hand. he charged them again, this time, using his Jurryskills ability with his shield and slammed into the cow with the lower health, killing it. He quickly turned just fast enough to stop the charge of the second cow with his shield, pushed the cow away, and took two quick slashes to the cow's side, dealing enough damage to kill it. Finally, Kazma dealt with his third cow by using a variety of simple dodge and damage tactics.

After all three cows were dead, he quickly collected the dropped items (a piece of meat and two horns) and got some distance away from the rest of the cows before sitting down with a sigh. Because he had lost a chunk of his HP, he was a bit tired but didn't want to use his Potions this early. He noticed that he hadn't leveled up but was 5 exp away from level 2. He gently laughed and watched the rest of the players deal with their foes.

Having quite a laugh at this new "Rika" girl's reaction to her attempts at exchanging clothes, she gladly accepted the gesture to form a group with her. So far, they had that cute ogre girl, a magnificent mermaid, a dull-looking Elf and an average human boy. She liked the diversity of the team, though there were a few other people around that could join, namingly two more of the Elven kind. Too many elves on one team may pose a problem, she thought, but the more the merrier.

Seeing the opportunity to slay cows as a quick and cheap way to level up, Izanami jumped into the fray spear first... until she noticed everyone else using fancy maneuvers to kill the bovine creatures.

"My, my, killing docile creatures such as cows shouldn't be such a problem!" She said aloud to the rest of the group. "You all are just wasting your skills on them." Spinning her spear around in a fancy fashion, she lunged at the first unsuspecting cow, piercing it through the neck and doing 10 damage. Critical Hit! appeared above the fearsome black and white monster, before it turned to Izanami and charged straight at her.

"Too much experience with these VR MMOs," She thought to herself, twisting her body and delivering a kick to the cow in the face. This drew the attention of two more cows. Using the length of the spear, she deflected one's charge at her and cut its side with the edge of the spear as it ran past, dealing a moderate amount of damage. Another cow caught her off guard and charged into her abdomen, knocking her over and her spear out of hand. Taking her short sword out of her inventory and equipping it, she made for the cow head-on and met its force with hers, knocking the the two of them back. 5 XP flashed over the now dead-cow's empty HP bar. "Two down, one to go," she said, panting. The next bovine creature made straight for her, but, in a flashy motion, she made for her spear and began activating her abilities simultaneously.

When she sang through the microphone, it signaled the activation of her skill, Merfolk's Melody. With the activation of it, the cow lowered its guard, opening it for a devastating critical attack. Getting into position with her spear, she jabbed out with it, screaming "Zwei Strike!"

The cow fell over, all of its HP depleted from a double attack that hit through its halved defenses. 23 damage flashed over, and then 5 xp. Level up! The screen flashed. Izanami laughed, then fell over. Her HP sat at a mere %50 now; Merfolk weren't exactly the hardiest of creatures. She took a flask potion out of her inventory and drank, restoring her health.

Nezumi, or more appropriately Yáviel now, heard some cursing and shouts of a potato cannon. She new without a doubt that, that was Noboru. He ran to the water in order to see himself, complaining about his horns and clothing, something that she agreed with. "That's something that we actually agree on." She spoke up, hoping to gain his attention. She wrapped her arms around herself, feeling a bit self conscious. "A-anyway, it looks like there are some others already here...Um...We should probably go over to the group now..." She glanced in there direction and waited for Noboru before heading over. The group was extremely diverse, just about one of every type was assembled which was surprising since she didn't think too many would pick human, and even less for mermaid and Dwarf. As they entered the group, Rika, as her name indicator said, expressed it would be best for a leaderless party for now to avoid any problems.

The second suggestion was that they gathered some EXP, which all of them could agree too. "Yeah, it'll be best to do that before doing much else." Yáviel muttered to herself. After a bit of walking the group came to some Cows, which after some quick math, each of them had 3 to themselves. Yáviel spotted her 3 and removed the bow from her back, taking this time to admire it there wasn't anything special to note. It was a normal wooden bow. However, it looked reliable enough, and the craftsmanship, while amateurish, was still smooth. She shook her head to get back in the game, "Ok, let's do this!" She notched the arrow and took aim at the Cow, that had yet to notice her, she took a deep breath and let the arrow fly. However, when she released the arrow it nicked the front of the bow throwing off it's aim so it only grazed the Cow's side, taking only 3 hp . "C-crap!" The Cow turned to her, calling over two other Cows before charging at her.

"Wait! Wait! Wait!" She exclaimed in quick succession, and taking scary advantage of her Straight Shot ability, she fired off two arrows. The first one hitting the cow dead center in it's forehead, and the second splitting right through the first, taking 10 hp each, dropping the middle cow. She couldn't celebrate because she had to dive out of the way of the charge. Having the agility of her species, she rolled back onto her feet and notched another arrow, taking aim for the Cow's legs to hopefully slow it down. A bit more dodging and arrows later she collected the two pieces of meet (one cow didn't drop anything), and dropped to the ground away from the Cows as to not pull any aggro. Already sitting there was the human character, who's name was Kazuma. The other Elf of the group, Torabe, asked if anyone wanted to trade with him. "Uh...N-no thanks. I'm fine for now." She said as to not appear like she was ignoring him. Her hp was down by 25%, which wasn't too much so instead of taking a potion she just let her stamina replenish on it's own. "For being a virtual world this sure is tiring..."

Noburo's ears perked up when he heard none other than Nezumi's voice. "There you are, Ne-" Turning around he actually saw her avatar. "Zumi?" Nezumi continued on to mention that they should meet up with a nearby group. As she walked away he quickly smacked himself. Of course this just being a game there was no real pain. "Thinking about it this is a game so I still can't be sure if I'm dreaming or not since I don't think there'd be any pain. I'll just roll with the latter since not even in a dream would I want to do anything so incredibly immoral. I suppose that's the avatar she went with then. Did Aoi make that avatar for her like Midori made mine? Well, Nezumi is actually able to use this crap herself and I'm slowly becoming more and more pissed. F*ck, I can't even get out of here anyway since Midori will probably just be waiting with that damn potato gun. And I also don't know how to log out."

It was inevitable that Noburo would figure out how to accept the invite and then follow the rest of the group or more notably his sister. It didn't seem to take long for them all to get to the first mob in the game. "Fanf*ckingtastic. Stuck with a bunch of random a**holes in this damn game. Looking after Nezumi is bad enough. Screw MMOs and them encouraging a good community through grouping up to work together in order to increase the amount of exp you can gain. Wait, what the hell did I just say? I don't actually know anything about this game or even the combat. I should just watch others fight first." He stood by the three cows that he was meant to fight. Since they hadn't been attacked yet they were still very docile making him completely capable of just watching the others fight. Most notably Kazma. "That guy just pulled out a sword...let me see...I think he touched his finger nail..." He did so and in front of him appeared a small menu with a few items on it and what looked like the full appearance of his avatar. "What do we have here...my...inventory. Heh, a weapon tab." He clicked on the first and only thing he saw and a second later a club appeared in his hand. "So this is my weapon, eh? Wait...a club...THAT B*TCH PURPOSELY MADE ME LOOK LIKE A CAVEMAN!"

Noburo immediatly slammed his club into the skull of one of the nearby cows instantly dealing 10 damage. "I think I have a new nickname for that bastard, Midori. I'll start calling her cow. I don't have the patience to figure out something particularly clever." Noticing that there was another cow he jumped back and then immediatly jabbed his club into the cow's side. A large eight flashed over the cow's head. "Do these things only have charge attacks?"The third cow was now charging towards him. "Yep." He held his club out in front of him ready to guard. He also dug his feet into the ground. When the cow came into contact with the club Noburo instantly lost a small chunk of health. Initial damage was reduced by the fact that he was blocking but it didn't end there. The cow was quickly pushing him back and with it more and more damage kept being done. It was low and slow damage but gradually became even slower until a final stop. The cow was giving it its all but it couldn't budge Noburo any longer without having a head start. Rage Rush had went into effect.

A large smirk came across Noburo's face. "I feel even stronger now! You f*cking low level grass chewing multiple stomachs having a**wipes are going the hell down!" He quickly brought his knee up to the cow's jaw quickly dealing 8 damage. Then after taking a familiar batting position he slammed his club into the cow's head. This time dealing 16 damage which essentially finished off that cow. "Dayum, I did get stronger." The first cow in an attempt to get revenge for its fallen comrade or at least that's what a cow would do if it wasn't just a computer program and real cows had comrades. Noburo lifted up his club and slammed it right back down when the cow was within range. This time it did a whole 18 damage and once again this cow was defeated. "Heh, that was actually kind of fun. But now I'm bored again." Without even looking away or moving the rest of his body he slammed he smacked the final cow that was charging at him when his guard was hopefully down. The cow was dealt 15 damage and would soon meet his two best buddies in computer A.I. heaven. That is if fighting Noburo didn't pretty much mark you for hell.

Noburo was confused when he heard the odd harmonious sound and the weird auro burst out of him that went with it. "Damn games. I have no f*cking clue what's ever happening in them." He held his club over his shoulder. "Now...How the hell do I put this thing away? I don't want to hold onto it all the f*cking time. Actually, new clothes are a higher priority."

A small party invitation pop-up dragged Zach's attention away from his helmet, showing a list of players who had already joined. The obvious choice was to join the party, so he did. Why not? He trotted forward to catch up with the others and the cows, plopping his object of interest back onto his head.

That object being his helmet, of course.

Soon enough, a group of three cows were in range. They appeared almost...defensive, with weary looks on their faces, eying everyone with an almost intelligent look. Now, of course, this should be expected, since almost all of their brethren were slain just now. Sighting the approaching dwarf, they all buckled down, for lack of a better phrase, and stared at him. Slightly leaning forward, nudging their horns forward... it had become obvious. They were in defense mode.

"Wow. I didn't think cows were intelligent enough to formulate plans as such..."

He quickly equipped his hammer. Quickly being used loosely as it took him a good minute to figure out how to even OPEN the inventory. Putting one foot back, he planned to charge straight into them with a catapult of tiny dwarfish energy, swinging away. What could go wrong? However, just as he dashed forward, he stopped abruptly, causing him to tumble head over heel, with the result being him sitting on the ground, dazed. Ok, ok. I probably shouldn't do that. I mean, they're in defensive stance! Chances are, they'll take minimal damage from my attack, and rush forward while I recover from hitting a defending ene-

A small thought popped up in the very back of his mind. He eyed the hammer he held in his hand, followed a small abilities window he had prompted open, then back again.

"I THINK a hammer would be considered heavy...BRING IT ON, COWS!"

With his abrupt cry, the cows looked amongst themselves, then back to him. Alas, by then, one of the cows had taken a hit to the side of the face with his hammer, causing it to reel back in pain. A satisfying 12 popped up above the beast. The others immediately broke stance, and began to bum rush the dwarf. As luck would have it during his very first battle, the horn of one of the cows jabbed his stomach, causing a nerve-wracking CRITICAL HIT! to appear on his head, followed by his HP dropping by a rather significant amount. Zach managed to retaliate with a hammer slam to the second cow, with a 9 appearing overhead. Despite such damage, he was in full retreat, attempting to find a safe spot to heal. No dice, as the cows were in hot pursuit, led by the one with full HP. And they were gaining on him. Fast. Zach's stubby little legs gave him no advantage in this so-called fight, as he attempted to swing his arms back to hit one, another thing his body wouldn't let him do.

"Why me? WHY ME?! AND WHY COWS, OF ALL THINGS?"

Even after an only short chase, he was fed up. With surprising swiftness, he swung around, letting out an admittingly weak battle-cry, charging head on into the stampeding three. They all collided, causing one another to trip over each other, ending in one large dog-pile. Zach managed to worm his way out of said pile, only to be greeted by the annoying ping of the LOW HEALTH! warning. Now pissed off at the bovines, he slammed his hammer down onto one of the two who had failed to get out of the pile. Said cow ended up being the first to take a blow from his hammer, and it died instantly. The second also faced the wraith of Zach's hammer, due to it being stuck under the first cow. With these two foes down, a pleasant sounding tone rang through the air, revealing to him that he had gained a level. His panting, which was the result of his excitement and not fatigue, broke up his sentences as he attempted to mock the cows.

"Y...hah...you stupid...hah...creatures...hah..."

An eerily sinister snort sounded from behind him, as a single fact surfaced into Zach's head. There was a single cow left. Only this time, it had full health. Slowly, he turned around to face his opponent, staring it down. It scuffed it's hooves against the ground, ready to charge. An intriguing smirk emerged on the dwarf's face, as he swung his hammer over his shoulder.

"Ah, my friend. It is time for our relationship to come to an end. I hope you are prepared to face my judgem-"

Of course, he was cut short by the ram of a cow.

A few minutes later, an irritating and semi-constant CRITICAL HP! tone rang in everyone's ears, as Zach approached from near the beach. He had heard Rika's inquiry, and approached her, holding out three horns.

"Hi, I'm GunpowerMan, but you can just call me Gun. Say, do you have any health potions that you'd like to trade for these horns?"

Kazma's hobby of sitting and being apathetic was going pretty smoothly after he had defeated his brutal bovine adversaries until an elvish girl broke his sights. She sat down on the ground near Kazma. "For being a virtual world, this sure is tiring..." she said. kamza wasn't sure if she was talking to him or just spouting off her mind.

"It sure is." Kazma replied, regardless of whether she was adressing him or not. He pulled up his in-game menu and selected his map. A holographic looking map appeared in front of him. It showed the general outline and objects. Just simple enough to be readable. It currently showed the area that they were in, "Coast pass". To the right, he could see it would lead back into the first "town" that they were in, and to the left seemed to lead closer to the next town. Closing his map, he stood up and brushed himself off.

"I'm headed to the next town. As far as I can see, there's really nowehere else to go on the map so you're welcome to follow suit or stay here fighting Ole' McDonald's livelyhood. Your call." he announced to his group.

As he said, he started heading straight West, being apathetic as usual to his surroundings. The secret is in the eyebrows. Speaking of being apathetic, Kazma's mundane attitude has landed him in a hole. Litteraly. He's fallen into a weird tunnel within easy veiwing distance in the middle of the path because he wasn't paying attention. Maybe that'll teach him to start watching the road. Kazma ironically landed in a very comical position at the bottom of this tunnel, taking "head over heels" literally. He turned over and stood up, brushing himself off. Looking up at his Health Bar, it seemed that his health went up from 75% to 90%. He must've regained his health after the battle but lost some from the fall. If health regenerates from battle right after the battle is over, how does it heal if you're hurt outside of battle? I guess we'll see. Kazma picked up his sword and caughed up some dust before looking up to the sunlight showing through the large hole in the ground above. Kazma could have easily jumped down here without taking any damage, but because he wasn't paying attention, he took a tumble. He pulled up his menu and selected to "Send a distress." on his Party Menu. This would appear to all of his party members as a beeping sound that encouraged his mates to look at their map, which Kazma would be marked as a red dot with his name. Of course, they probably didn't even need this seeing as how he fell in a hole that was only a couple dozen steps from where he was sitting. Afterwards, he looked back and around him. Somehow, he glowed in the darkness as if it was a default ability for when you didnt have a torch. It only lit up the darkness a few feet in front of him and it seemed that he was in a corridor. A long one. A long, creepy one that probably had some monstrous foe at the end of it. Kazma figured that it wouldn't hurt to check out a few mor feet in the darkness so he began walking. After a short moment, he could hear what he assumed to be other players coming down aswell. He turned back to see their lights and waved with that same apthetic look he always has. He turned back around and saw a funky looking wooden door. This place was creepy enough and he wasn;t opening any creepy-ass doors by himself so he awaited the rest of his party. By now, his health was back to 100%.

"...Eh? Hold that thought. I think I have some potions on me anyway that I forgot about anyway."

Zach quickly strut away from whom he was trying to trade with, using his potions at the same time. By then, only 2 had to be used for him to be at full health. Sure, he COULD'VE waited out the few minutes for full health, but he was impatient. Eying his minimap, he stopped one step short of the hole in the ground, looking down into the dark.

"HELLO? YOU DOWN THERE? WHY'D YOU HAVE TO FALL INTO SUCH A PIT ANYWAY?"

He's never been good with heights. Blasted Ferris wheel with the rocking motion scarred him. So, of course, he was hesitant. Well, until he realized this was a video game and none of that mattered.

"Well, I guess this is a good time to test for fall damage anyway. GERONIMO!"

And with the iconic phrase, he leaped into the hole, making sure to keep himself upright. Upon hitting the ground, he felt the impact alright. No pain, but it really did feel like he had jumped. It was like nothing he's ever experienced before. Alas, upon seeing his health bar, it had dropped from 100% to 95%. Must be a dwarven side effect. Upon looking around, there was...well, rock. It was a cave. A dark, dark cave, save for mister Pothole's light. He jogged up to the player, sticking out his hand.

"Sorry I'm late. I'm Gun. Who are you?"

Nezumi looked at the boy who replied as he got up and walked away, announcing he was going to the next town while they could stay or come. She stood up, but didn't follow him and instead waved down Noburo who was finished with his fight. She walked up to him, "It's pretty cool isn't it? You can fight and not have to worry about actually hurting anyone, and I don't have to worry about anyone thinking I'm weird." She finished with a smile. "We should make friends with the others as well, since we'll probably be around them for a bit while we're helping to test this game." After his reply, if there was one, an annoying beeping sound rung in her ears constantly telling her to check her map. At the urging, she did so and on the map was a red dot with Kazuma's name hovering above it. "Apparently he sent some type of distress signal...How did he get in trouble so quickly?" She wondered with a tilt of her head.

Gun was already heading off. Only walking a few feet, he yelled towards the ground then jumped vanishing from sight. Obviously there was a hole there, possibly what caused Kazuma to activate a distress signal. That and his red dot was in that direction. "We should head over as well." She grabbed the crease of Noburo's elbow and pulled him along. Once she got to the hole, she released him then jumped down without hesitation, landing softly and silently at the bottom. Around her body was a soft glow, which provided light immediately around her; an awesome feature if you asked her. It looked like some sort of corridor and further down she heard voices and saw very faint lights ahead. Nezumi looked back at Noburo, very excitedly I might add, urging him to follow her before following the corridor's path.

Not too far ahead, she ran into Gun and Kazuma. "So where's the party?" She joked, before spotting the large wooden door. "Wonder what's in there..."

Torabe resigned himself to put his extra leather to use in the next town, no one having accepted his offer. He opened his menu, and stowed away his weapons and supplies, causing them to dematerialize into databytes. Ready to move on, he stood up and turned towards the next destination, before a blaring alert drew his attention. The pitfall Kazma disappeared into was not far off in front of Torabe. He thought maybe now would be a good time to part ways, and he could go on to the town without them. He opened He scrolled through the menus and got as far as the "Exit Party?" confirmation window before the incessant voice of the Testing Committee dissuaded him from separating the party.

Letting out a brief sigh, Torabe bent over the hole a hollered down into the darkness, "I'm coming down! Clear the way!" He carefully lowered his body into the hole gripping the ledge and keeping his body pressed against the vertical dirt wall. He began sliding down, his fingers and boots digging into the dirt as it crumbled away, slowing his descent. When he touched down at the bottom, he stumbled backwards a few steps. Steadying himself, he followed the footsteps of the party into the dark corridor, away from the light filtering through the dust in the air. He felt a noticeable chill as his Photosynthesis ability deactivated. When he caguht up, the others were standing before a tall ominous carved wooden door. Torabe's stomach churned, immediately regretting his decision. "On second thought..." he said nervously, "you guys got this, I'll just head ba-" before he finished his sentence, it occurred to him that there was no way back up, the walls were too steep and lacked footholds, and he had no rope. There was no where to go but through the door. "Or maybe I'll stay. Y'know, keep you guys company. So, um...who wants open it?"

Noburo couldn't help but not give a damn when the human warrior guy decided he'd up and start leaving to the next town. Actually, that's not completely true. The idea that Kazuma thought he gave a damn actually pissed him off a bit but knowing Kazuma had pretty much already started to walk off forced him to shove his rage inside homself to use for later acts of casual unnecessary violence. He'd probably just wait until more cows spawned for him to slaughter very violently. He had then that he noticed Nezumi was waving at him. He let out a sigh before walking over to her . He already started to regret walking over to her as she started talking about how good this game was for them and they shold actually try to make friends. "If it's any bit destructive I'd like to mention I still think you're a weirdo. Although you're my sister so I've already accepted that fact. Anyway, I personally don't give a crap about these other people. If you want to make friends I don't care but I will be sticking with you regardless. It's a little bit better than being shot in the face with a potato gun. So just make they don't piss me off."

After having finished talking an alarm began to go off. Nezumi explained the cause of it and Noburo was already covering his ears with his hands but to no avail. "God dammit! I can still hear this annoying sound. That bastard is forcing me to hear this?!" His arms dropped to his side. "Wait, which bastard?" It was then that Nezumi grabbed onto him and pulled him along. "Huh?" His question was soon answered when they arrived at the hole. "So one of them fell down here and then sent a distress signal..." Looking at everybody else just jump down caused him to facepalm. "Doesn't it just seem counter productive to jump down with no way to get back up. Isn't that the reason he's stuck down there? Right, Ne...zu.......mi?" Looking down he could see that Nezumi was already falling in. "God dammit." He jumped down following after her.

Noburo landed on his feet no prob. "Well I feel fine so at least I have that going for me. But now to find the douche who's been bugging the f*ck out of me." It turned out to be incredibly easy. With the auto light game function he could see a bit ahead of him to not trip and find the others easily by just seeing their light. When he arrived with the rest of the roup he stopped and like the rest of them looked at the door. "It looks like there's something better than cows in there. Well what the f*ck are you wusses waiting for? It's a door. It won't bite." He stepped ahead of them towards the door. He lifted his leg up and released his pent up rage and released it into a single kick to bust open the door. "And even if it did I don't think it can now."
