Banning majorly hated members. [LOCK]

Since we're on the topic of majorly hated members, I need to get something off my chest here:

I don't think that will happen. You're too good of a mod to become hated. We should worry about Pika first.

How about we lock this topic for the following reasons?

1. The debate contains no amounts of intelligence in it whatsoever.

2. Darkplant is only doing this because he is angry at Herman and is using this idea as a catalyst to get him banned.

This is entirely true, but he was only the inspiration, not the sole target.

3. This suggestion is not worthwhile and is only based on anger.

Anger aimed at someone who doesn't want to improve and is poisoning the community, yeah.

4. If this suggestion were heeded, YCM would become a place full of intelligent members getting banned because the majority is butthurt about one little debate.

One thing I have to just tell you guys is that yes, I want Herman banned, but it's not because of personal feelings; it's because of how I believe he's being a negative influence. I am trying to help the site, ya' know, but seems it's just me who wants to support this idea, and so in this case I'm fine with it. My opinion's worthless compared to the community's anyways.

 

Yet to get myself to understand why this can't be implimented, but given there's more nyehs than yeahs, it's pointless to keep this thread open. Lock this please. Wouldn't bring this up again either. Apologies for the fuss.

If this were a rule the only activity in the forums would be of cards.

Pretty soon that will be gone too if the card maker isn't fixed.

So banning members because of being "poison to the community" is a bad thing? The quite fondly a similar argument can be said for "BRING BACK RAGNORAK!" as he too falls under that category of banned members (even if it was spam), because he "provided input" on said cards on a similar level as Herman is doing atm. The lack of knowledge is leading him into astray advice and refuses to "see his errors", both grammatically and intellectually. The "idea" of banning members in such a way "is bad" but "the reasoning" behind it is fairly justified. Darkplant's "anger" towards Herman is because he is being a hindrance to the community and refuses to change or does it at such a terribly slow pace as if he is unwilling to do so.

 

I'm not going to completely defend Darkplant though because the way his idea is being brought out is still in a negative fashion and in all honesty, I agree that this form of banning members is quite negative and destructive which is what I don't like. I do like the idea of banning Herman. This guy said it the best:

The whole thing is, there are only a select few people on here hate Herman. I have never met the guy myself, nor have any desire to. Does that mean I hate him? No. Only the select few people on here that are actively lynching him/trying to get him banned/putting him down are the ones that hate him. I'm not going to call out names, but you all should know who you are when I say that.

 

And correct me if I am wrong, but isn't this, what we're doing right now, a form of bullying? O.o If the higher-ups on this site are resorting to bullying because of that need to feel superior in every way, shape, and form, then those same people might come after me as well. And I don't want that.

I know this is rather draconian but I am -staunchly- opposed to the concept of letting people get away with hiding behind rules despite making the experience of the site less enjoyable for others.

 

So I approve. Dunno who this Herman fellow is though.

Let me just put this out there.

 

You don't have to hate people to see they're poison to the environment. If you ever graduate middle school, you'll see this in real life. Teachers that fail you, aren't doing so because they hate you (a majority of the time). They do so because you do not meet their standards. If you're fired from a job, it's rarely because the boss hates you. Rather, you make the place worse off by showing up.

 

So no, I don't hate Herman. I hardly even know him. I do know he really doesn't belong on this forum though.
