Just Crouton
Because of the re-balancing threads. First, let's look at the original. Graceful Charity Normal Spell Draw 3 cards, then discard 2 cards. Now, I could just add a "no-SS" clause, or a "then move to End Phase" clause and call it a day, but I'd rather address the real issues of the card. The real card lets you draw 3, with the "drawback" of discarding 2. I put "drawback" in the parenthesis because it's not as big of a drawback as you think. In fact, more than ever, it sets up for plays with cards like Rekindling, Junk Synchron, etc. Back in the day, you could dump a big monster and Reborn it. All these plays become available, and you've just thinned your Deck by 3 at the same time, making it easier to draw into you best cards. With that said, here's my "re-balanced" version. Graceful Charity (Re-balanced) Normal Spell Draw 3 cards, then shuffle 2 cards from your hand into the Deck. You can only activate 1 "Graceful Charity" per turn. The "re-balanced" version lets you draw 3, at the cost of shuffling 2 from your hand into the Deck. Now, you're probably saying "DRAWING 3 IS TOO MUCH." Well, here's my argument for why this version is more fair. Yes, you still get to draw 3 cards, thinning the deck by 3, BUT, instead of discarding 2 to the Graveyard afterwards, you shuffle 2 from the hand into the Deck. "And?" This means you can't abuse the so-called "drawback" and set up for Graveyard plays with Rekindling, Junk Synchron, etc, and have to use more thought as to what you want to get rid of. At worst, the only abuse that can made is recycling dead Diva targets to make Diva plays, and there are more, correct me. Also, I said you're thinning the Deck by 3, but now, you're adding 2 back into the Deck. Meaning, with this version, you've drawn 3 cards, but only thinned your Deck by 1. And, to avoid some crazy combos, I added the "1 copy per turn" clause. Link to comment
-Griffin
It would still be run in every single Deck. It thins the Deck by 1, even with the returns. I struggle to think of any Deck that wouldn't use it. In the worse case scenario where it's the only card in your hand, so you have minimal choice on what to return, it still makes you play a 37-39 card Deck (depending on list position), but with choice between which cards you get. Basically hurts Deck diversity by being mandatory to be optimal, limiting the amount of slots to use creatively with cool tech. Link to comment
Zowayix
"Draw 3 cards, then reveal your hand. Your opponent selects 2 cards and individually chooses whether to send those cards to the Deck, Graveyard, or Banished Zone." Link to comment
sdkinslayer
One of my favorit ways to balance things like that is to banish cards for a while. For example, draw 3 cards return 2 cards back to the Deck and your opponent randombly banish 1 card from your Hand until your next Endphase. Link to comment
