Maybe you need to stop being so busy and take some time off and watch them. When someone say the haven't really seen the movies but they still have the opinion that there boring it really pisses me off. Don't make such a stupid assumption off of the ten minutes of the Lord of the Rings series you saw, it take around 9 hours to finish the whole trilogy if you have extended editions. Don't even get me started about the books you probable die if you actually took the time time to read them. You would know it was called Lord of the Rings if you watched them, in at the start of the The Fellowship of the Ring Galadrial explanes 3 rings were given to the elves 7 to the dwarves 9 to men and Sauron made a master ring that could control the other 18 rings, you may wonder what happen to the other rings the 9 men were given to kings of men. The men who owned the 9 became greedy and wanted the 1 ring so they be came the Nazgul, Ring wraiths, or Black riders. The 7 that were given to the dwarves were kept by most the dwarve but the dwarves were killed in battles and the rings ethier were lost (most likely in a dragons horded treasure) or Sauron claimed them. The 3 elf rings were given to Galadrial, Elrond, Thranduil(Legolas's Dad king of Mirkwood) and the elves were wise and they hide them from Sauron.

Have you read any of the other books, such as the Silmarillion or Unfinished tales? These are interesting with several short stories with that differentiate slighty book-to-book, but nevertheless still very good. There is also a 12 book series called the 'History of Middle Earth' that also have a lot of of information. Mind you, from the Silmarillion onwards, it suddenly becomes pretty hardcore stuff. There is also a fantastic book called The children of Hurin which is a continuous narrative like The Lord of the Rings, which is based on the life and events of Turin, whom I'm sure you know well of.

On another note, I am certainly looking forward to the release of The Hobbit film and am eager to see if it lives up to my expectations, as well as the novel.

Thranduil wasn't given the 3rd ring. It was given to Cirdan of the grey havens, and on his passing to Gandalf if i recall correctly. I rememeber reading a passage about it somewhere. I might be mistaken on that, and now I'm going to have to check it. I don't spend a lot of time reading and learning the backstory and the like, I just read odd bits and remember it.

I read the silmarilion, and it ate away at my head. It was still intresting, particularly the Bit wiht shelobs anscetor (I forget the name) and the history of Nuemenor. But they are all a series I will read time and time again.

Films are amazing, one of the greatest book to movie adaptations of all time, and one of the few that could ever come close to being considered better than the books. But the books are still better.

Hobbit should hopefully be great. An amazing actor playing Bilbo, and another voicing Smaug. Though it being in 3 seperate movies will leave me wanting more after each.

What is that suppose to mean?

He cast [s]magic missile[/s] teleport. You're now at one of those colleges. Don't mind him. He's an idiot.

I'm rereading the books now. I think every time I read them, there are more songs...

The movies never get old for me. I've seen Gandalf fight the Balrog about a hundred times (not even exaggerating) and it's still as epic as I first saw it. Plus the Nazkul are a priceless enemy group.
I love how great they made the Nazgul look in the movies.

The Hobbit has to succeed. There's no doubt about it!
The Lord of the Rings trilogy was epic, so the Hobbit trilogy will be just as successful!

Course it will. Whether it will be good is another matter entirely.

Two movies makes sense. Three does not.

Lord of the Rings films? Best trilogy ever! Better then Star Wars, and I definitely hope The Hobbit trilogy will live up to the fame the first trilogy had! Gonna watch them soon again.
"Better than star wars" it trapples star wars.

So I saw the hobbit, loved it then I went and watched in 3D. Usually I don't watch 3D because it hurts my eyes but this Imax 3D is a lot better than the red and blue crap.
