Legend Zero
Alright, it has been brought to my attention that every Pinned thread is overly obsolete so I plan to change that. There are a few ideas that I would like to implement over the previous set given. Rules of DebateAll YCM Rules applyThink before you post. This isn't American politics (we're smarter than the masses), verbally attacking someone is childish and only proves you are immature.Posting just a link will fall under spam. Take the time to explain why the link is important. Debating GuidelinesIntention of Posting: There are many reasons we post on this forum, however, this section is for intelligent discussion, so we should try to narrow those down.Choosing a Side: A very self explanatory point, you post because you wish to participate in the debate. Please clearly state which side of the debate you will be taking (preferably in relation to the Thread Starter) before you introduce your educated opinion/information.Rebuttal/Concede: Again, an obvious point. You wish to either further support your argument or admit that you may have been misinformed. I, personally, find it very important to admit you were wrong. It shows you value the truth over your pride and that your respect your peers.Informational: This type of posting may not be debating or even care about the topic, but if they have information (or a link) that will further the whole understanding than I feel it is important for them to post.Back Yourself Up: Not really something I feel proud in writing, but I have looked through threads here. I am not implying that you post a verified link to every single thing you post in this section. I am saying that if you want your post to be taken more seriously then it would be wise. Also, if you are asked to provide a source then please do. I'm sure we all don't want to be debating under false info, trust me it isn't fun.Switching Sides: There may come a time when you "see the light" and wish to join the opposing view. I'm not someone who is unable to appreciate this, but be warned that being a flip-flopper usually lowers your creditability in the thread. If you feel that you wish to switch sides I highly recommend you take a break from the debate to further research (or watch the thread) in order to fully understand all the information before making an opinion.Religion: Oh boy, it's the big one! I've been tempted to ban the use of religion in this section, however, I believe it still can have its merits. Religion can explain why certain topics are viewed in such a way and also why such debatable things even exist. Just don't use religion as your main argument, or be blinded by it. *Note: All Guidelines are up for discussion [here]
