Remove Twitter from YCM

Thar

Recommended Posts

This is a serious suggestion. Practically every status update from Twitter is from a member that isn't even validated and is incredibly stupid. Not only that, but the updater can't even respond because, well, it's Twitter. It's spamming up the status bar and there's no way to communicate with said person except through the actual Twitter site, which is vain enough as it is. So what's the point?

Support or oppose?

Whatever the case may be in which that might not happen.

YCMaker has already given us the proverbial middle ginger in regard to a third admin.

I don't think you know how the arrows work.

But no, YCMaker's told the mods he won't make anyone an admin unless he's personally interviewed them, and never mentioned it ever again.

Except you both remain ignorant, even when you're online and there are advertisements, flaming or Twitter updates. Being a moderator doesn't mean half-assing parts of the job you were entrusted with because you don't get them force fed to you. I've contacted moderators several times to no avail attempting to help with the status bar, receiving apathy a notable fraction of the time. Part of that would go to Flame Dragon, who blatantly ignored flaming on the status bar even when I notified him while he was active.

Have more people as mods for this site just to police a small section?

Alternatively, the users could actually report once in a while...

You wanna tell me what sort of officer only verifies one or two fractions of a whole area they were asked to patrol?

The thing is that the majority of the mods have to use a separate account to simply delete a Twitter/Facebook status.
This isn't an excuse and there are mods who watch the status bar (we can see report queues and who completed them).
Rinne, Hatcher sometimes, Legend Zero, me (although I probably missed one a few minutes ago, oh god the drama!).

I suggest you get your facts straight and get off that high horse before anything.
The Twitter stuff is annoying and at least certain mods attempt to do something about it, but we may not catch them all on the spot.
Generally, when I wake up, I sign up with my Damage Control account and just go through the "status updates" page and clear them all at once, but it's possible that they've been around for a while.

But yeah, shut off those Twitter/Facebook connections and report them in the meantime.

The difference is you accepted the job and what it entails. Your reason is essentially one of what your newest club is about; laziness and procrastination. Having to sign to a different account has utterly no relevance to what you're limited to doing to complete a responsibility you brought upon yourself. You and the other moderators in the topic who enjoy whining when they are asked to complete the full extent of their job, rather that what they only feel lazy enough not to do would better relinquish your positions to people who will take full responsibility.

I have no power because my D-Control alt was banned by someone thinking it was a spammer (because I was using a proxy when I registered it). As has already been said, YCMaker is the only one who can do something about it, and he stopped caring a long time ago. As I only moderate two sections, I can't actually see the reports for the status bar. Whenever I see a spammer there, I ban their account and IP but I can't actually delete the status.

Can you read this again? Incase you didn't notice, I'm part of the small group of mods who actually watch the status bar and there are others who do the same.
It's not "my" reason or a petty excuse that keeps at least some of us from doing anything, but it's something noticeable we'd like YCMaker to fix. For reference, I deleted about 10 updates today and if I miss one, it will probably be gone during my next log-in. But for some people, if apparently overlooking one single thing out of the bunch equals "not taking full responsibility to do things", oh please. I don't even have words for this bs.

Now get your facts straight, you stop whining and put a notice on my profile page the next time, or any mod you feel will give it attention.

I take care of the account, not the status. The status would require me to get on another account, which I see no point in for something as meaningless as the status bar.

I also don't see the point in blaming mods. Saying, "there is a mod on" is no reason to not report a spam bot. Which is funny, because if we complain and not do our job its laziness. However, if you complain and not report (a member's job) then its our fault for not having a hawk's eye on the status bar, which I rarely even glance at.

I like to think of a mod's job as a security guard in a museum. In a certain time, they pace back and forth across a certain section, scanning the area for suspicious activity. Then they just take a moment to sit down and look like they're patrolling the area from where they're sitting, when really they're just napping. Rinse and repeat until their shift is done.

Our job is more like police officers.

If we see something in our sections we'll take action. But it's still up to the citizens to dial 911.

tl;dr - Stop bitching. Start reporting.

I accepted the job of TCG mod before the Status Bar came up. My only job is the TCG section. It's volunteer work. Anything else I do is out of the goodness of my heart.

Contact another moderator.

I don't understand the question. Like... legit, I have no clue what you're trying to say. Maybe you accidentally a word or maybe you're using a word incorrectly or something.

I don't! =D

YCMaker put this up for a reason. What gets people to join you say? Making the whole thing look like some Social Networking Site comparative to Facebook or Twitter. Then he can bask in the glory of having more mindless members who want nothing more than the status bar, card maker, and their profile. I hate it too but getting rid of it to me seems impossible.

I did not "blatantly ignore" anything. Just because you see me on doesn't mean I'm using the forum. Often times playing some online game or watching an anime, totally forgetting I even have a YCM tab open. As such if you were to message me I rarely get it until a hour or so later at the earliest. Anyway, this is the first I'm even hearing of you having asked me to do something, and I see that is because you wrote to me on my wall. I never check my wall and for some reason don't get notification if someone leaves a message for me there. If you want me, please pm me. I might take a little to respond but I always will and if the matter hasn't been resolved I will do so.

Anyway, this is a problem the mod teams knows exists. Again, YCMaker. Lazy. Won't do anything. Etc.
