ListenToLife
This Thread is gonna be based off of an RP called Pokémon Academy: The Original Remade, and will revolve around the history of My character from that RP, Michael Davidson (Post #12 in the OOC thread), the un-noticed brother of Karen of the Elite four, and for the most part, his journey around Johto. These short stories will be split into 'Episodes', and will be treated like the Episodes of the TV series. They will eventually be arranged chronologically, though first I will mostly be doing random stories that come to mind.

The sun rose slowly over the horizon, illuminating the sea with its light-giving rays. The ocean's surface dazzled as the light reflected off it, creating the illusion of a million flames dancing upon the waves. A picture moment, if ever there was one. Sadly, the city of Olivine was quiet at this time, and only a few tired pokémon wandered the beaches. There were some small time sailor's at the harbour, preparing their ships for the next voyage, but the only person there to appreciate the sight was a women with light brown hair, her usual tied up style abandoned in favour of letting her hair go loose down her back. She smiled at the ocean, taking in its fragrant, salty air with a deep inhale, as she turned to walk to the light-house. Olivine's Gym Leader, Jasmine, often had to wake up at this early hour. Her daily routine encompassed this meager errand, but she had been doing it for too long to care. And she loved her dear Ampharos with all her heart. She climbed the stairs in the light house with ease, the elevator having broken not long ago. Still, she accepted the challenge readily the first time and was ready this time. She was at the top in no time, and as she placed her foot on the solid floor the light shining from the light house faded and footsteps could be heard around the corner. She didn't have time to move from her spot before her best friend appeared from around the corner, colliding with her and nearly sending them both tumbling down the staircase. "Careful next time." Jasmine said, smiling as Amphy nodded and helped her up. The Yellow pokémon usually looked tired, for she had to keep to an unusual nocturnal routine that few Ampharos enjoyed. But this time, she was a little bit worse for ware. You see, the afternoon before, they had been challenged to a battle. And while normally, Amphy was still sleeping for her Job in the Lighthouse, and would miss battles; the days had been getting longer, and Amphy was getting more free time. As such, she joined in with the battle, which had initially seemed like a simple battle, for the boy's appearance was fragile and lacked motivation. It had certainly been a surprised when he beat her, especially considering how efficiently and easily he had done it.... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "It's brave of you to challenge me. May I ask your name, young man?" The Leader asked politely, taking her place at one end of the flat rocky arena. The battle grounds were clearly marked out yellow lines darting around the room. However, by no means were the pokémon limited to there. "My name is of no importance, is it? We're just here to battle." The boy said with a smile, innocence plastered across his face. He too stepped into his position, his cheerful coolness sending a chill up Jasmine's spine; though she merely blamed her mind for playing tricks on her. As he stepped into place, the disk of land upon which each of them stood started to rise from the ground, as did a ring of fences around said disk. At around 8 foot high, the platforms stopped moving, allowing the competitors an aerial view of the arena. "Let us begin." Jasmine said; her voice focused and serious. "I guess I shall choose Magneton for my first pokémon." She gazed carefully at the Boy as she threw her pokéball, though the boy seemed to follow the ball rather than meet her eye. He smiled as Magneton emerged from the pokéball, and Jasmine once again shivered. "I shall meet that with my Arcanine.” The boy said, chucking as he opened the pokéball. “She is a powerful creature, I advise you to not underestimate her." Out from the red flash emerged a beautiful and graceful lion-like creature, one whose mane seemed to ripple like fire. She stood at least a foot above any average Arcanine, and seemed to be in prime condition. Despite this, her eyes appeared as similarly calm as her master's, though she appeared as if she viewed the battle as more of a tedious meeting rather than a serious affair. "Shall we begin?" The boy said, politely, just as all hell broke loose. - The Arcanine moved like a flash, the extreme-speed making the pokémon blur as she ran, dashing gracefully towards the Magneton. She needed no guidance from her master; this was easy prey. She was behind the mechanical within seconds and, before any time was given to react, unleashed a full Fire Blast direct to the Steel beast's rear. "The hell?!" Jasmine cried, leaning over the barrier, her jaw hanging low as Arcanine managed to OHKO her first pokémon. Speechless, she returned the fainted pokémon, and looked towards the referee, who was lifting his flag nervously towards the Boy. This is serious. He's got power. Jasmine noted, a bead of sweat rolling down her forehead. 3 on 3, this match was, and she was already down one. Not good. She moved away from the edge of the balcony and began to pace slightly, attempting to create a strategy. Unable to think of a way to counter the attack, she merely grabbed a pokéball from her belt. His defence is high. He'll be able to withstand some attacks. She mused, nodding to herself as she threw the pokéball high into the air. Out from the red flash in this round emerged a much larger pokémon, one that's head lifted to the ceiling of the arena. The ground beneath him trembled as he moved, sliding his tail back and forth along the floor. "Rusty, use Flash Cannon!" Jasmine commanded. The Iron Snake Pokémon reacted fast, instantly flattening itself against the floor, almost camouflaging itself with the surroundings. Arcanine was unaware of where the head happened to be, and before she could react, she was blasted in the side by a large silver beam, one that seemed to catapult her backwards a ways. She landed well though, and seemed uninjured as she looked to her master for guidance. He merely nodded at her, and she turned to face the surrounding rocks, placing her nose to the ground. She sniffed a couple of times, before Oder Sleuth kicked in and she detected Steelix's whereabouts. She reacted well to this, and changed from stood still to full pelt Flame Blitz within moments, colliding with Rusty in an impressive collision which managed to send Steelix catapulting a few metres, though it left Arcanine with a small bruise on her forehead. "Flamethrower as well." The boy commanded; the innocent, calm smile still on his face. Arcanine merely nodded to him, and proceeded to widen her mouth, from which a stream of flames emerged, colliding with Steelix to knock him unconscious. The Gym leader looked on in horror and shock as Steelix, the pokémon she was most confident could win, was defeated with ease, in the form of two powerful fire-type attacks. She took a few moments to recover from this shock, balancing herself on the rails along the side of the podium as she thought about what had happened, and what she could do from here. I guess I’ll have to resort to Amphy. The last pokéball in her belt seemed fragile and useless now, and Jasmine was unsure if Amphy was up to the pressure of a Pokémon battle. Shrugging her shoulders, Jasmine picked up the pokéball, and threw it down to the stadium below, returning Steelix to his own pokéball with her free hand. “I guess my Ampharos will be my last pokémon. But I’ll tell you now, this wont be an easy....” Jasmine started, her strong personality restoring itself as she warned the boy about the power of Ampharos, though she wasn’t that internally confident. The lack of confidence was well earnt, for before Jasmine could even finish her sentence, Arcanine had pounce on top of Ampharos, delivering a sharp Bite to the Yellow pokémon’s shoulder. Ampharos was still concious, however, Jasmine did not dare see her prized pokémon get injured, and returned her before she could become any more damaged. The Gym Leader sighed and placed the pokéball back on her belt as the podium’s lowered, tossing a small badge over her shoulders, which the boy caught with ease. “Thank you.” The Boy called, a friendly smile still upon his face. “It was a good battle.” He chuckled as he turned to walk away, Arcanine plodding along at his side, her snout held high in pride. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Jasmine sighed as she remembered the battle, and lifted up the same pokéball she had used to return Amphy the previous night. “I guess you deserve a rest.” Jasmine whispered, a weak smile dancing upon her lips as she raised the pokéball to the Ampharos’ chest. She gave one worried look at the Bite mark imprinted on Amphy’s shoulder before the red light enveloped her, then turned to the window of the lighthouse. The view from up here was even more spectacular than that at the beach, and allowed her to peer over all of her city. Which is exactly what she was doing when she spotted the Boy from the previous day, walking towards the Harbour. He greeted one of the Sailors working on a boat to the Whirlpool Islands before boarding the ship itself. “He certainly is brave." She muttered, writing him off as a dead man for merely approaching the Islands.

Michael grinned as he took in the fresh sea air, letting the cold wind batter his face. It was a truely gorgeous morning, and the light of the sunset was enough to make him smile. He had not seen a view like this for years, and walking along the edge of the pier gave him memories of the last time he had visited Olivine; a happy memory from back when he was still with his family. He sighed and shook his head before heading for the captain of his ride. “Good morning.” Michael said, politely offering his hand to the sailor. The large man looked at the hand and chuckled; a dark laugh that sounded like it was worrying. “You’re the boy? You’re a fool.” The Sailor stated, ignoring the handshake and turning back to the ship. “The boat wont set sail until later, when the sun has risen fully.” He added as he moved to inspect his ship and talk with his fellow Mariners. Michael sighed and moved to the edge of the pier, where he dropped his legs off of the side, so as to let them flail in the wind. He looked to the sky, watching the few clouds race each other, and noticed movement in the lighthouse, though he ignored it. There wasn’t really much to do at that moment, and so he merely waited for the next 2 hours, staring out at the open sea. And so, as the Sun clambered higher into the sky, the Captain of the Small ship called out for him, and he waved over. Guess it’s time to go. He said to himself, smiling as he walked over to the ship. He boarded after the main crew had taken their places, and placed a small handful of notes in the Captain’s hand. “Thank’s for the ride.” Michael said, merely nodding his head. The Captain chuckled and moved to the wheel. “Money’s money, boy.” He merely stated as the boat lunged from the dock, speeding out to sea. Michael spent the majority of the voyage merely standing at the edge of the boat, staring out in front of the ship so as to spot his destination. He had heard many people warning him against the journey – had been called foolish, damned and many other names – but that wouldn’t stop him. He had already heard the tales, and that the problems were escalating was just an added incentive. More adventure. The journey was short; 30 minutes into the ride he had spotted the Islands, and another 40 minutes and they were nearby. The ship halted about 200 metres away from the nearest rocks, though, and the engine grew quiet. Michael started to move to the small row-boat at the side of the ship as the Captain’s heavy footsteps echoed along the wooden deck. “This is your last chance, boy. Are ye sure you want to be goin’ in them Island’s? You’ve heard the tales.” Michael smiled and nodded his head. “The tales are exactly the reason I want to go.” He answered, stepping onto the small wooden row-boat and calling back. “Lower me then. You’ll never have to see me again after that.” One of the crew men obliged, and within seconds Michael was sat upon the surface of the waves, beginning to row towards the islands. “Good luck, lad!” The captain shouted, before turning back to the helm. As he touched the wheel of the ship, he muttered. “You’ll need it.” ~~~~~~~~~~~ The rowing wasn’t really necessary at the moment, the tide seemed to want Michael to come towards the Island. Even when he paused, the boat seemed to move towards a gap in the rocks, seemingly the only entrance to the Islands at this side. But Michael was fooled. He had heard the tales, and knew what was coming. As such, he rowed to the side of the gap, almost colliding with the rocks. When he came close enough, he jumped, grabbing tight to the stone surface as the boat below him floated towards the now clearly visible Whirlpool, a trap to all who attempted to enter the islands. He started to move quickly, ignoring the sound of his splintering boat being destroyed in the whirlpool. His hands and feet moved on their own, and before long Michael was at the top of the Rock, staring at one of the 4 islands. He could see another one in the distance, but knew that they all had the same trap. Few people had managed to make it inside the islands, the few who did being Pokémon masters capable of calming the waters. Due to a lack of powerful water pokémon, he himself could not do such a thing. But he had brains on his side, and climbing skill. He made his way around the rocky barrier, jumping along the large boulders like nothing. Within minutes, he had made it half way around the island, and was now faced with a large mound of rock leading into the Island. It was a simple, easy to make jump. There was only one problem; a family of Graveler had made their home on top of the roof. Without bothering to imagine how they had got up their, he threw one of his pokéballs, releasing a small, Star shaped pokémon in the flash of red light. “Staryu, clear the path with water gun.” Michael ordered, leaping onto the large mound as a stream of water erupted out of Staryu’s mouth. Michael picked up the pokémon and ran with it, using her as a weapon against the oncoming graveler. He did manage to clear a path though, and returned the Star pokémon as he slid down the side of the mound. He was running as soon as his feet touched sand, for without looking he could hear the sound of about 10 Graveler rolling down the hill, full speed. Slightly panicked, but enjoying it none the less, he ran around the edge of a larger mound in the middle of the island, looking for a cave like entrance into the crag. It didn’t take long to find it, and he dived in quickly, just managing to avoid the Gravelers, who rolled past a minute later, having not noticed him hide in the hole. Breathing heavily, Michael grinned and stood up, leaning against the wall of the cave, staring into the darkness of the hole itself. “Chikorita, Flash if you would.” Michael whispered, opening another pokéball on his belt. As Chikorita placed her feet on the ground, she nodded towards Michael and the leaf on her head started to glow, illuminating the cave for a few metres around him. It was a deep cave, that was obvious, and was going to be more dangerous than he initially though. He lifted his head so as to stare at the ceiling, upon which he suddenly saw hundreds of cold eyes staring back. “Golbats.” He muttered, cursing. Luckily, they seemed to be too tired to interact and so he merely creeped through the cave, finding himself at a crude set of stairs after a while. He lifted his Chikorita off the ground, to act as a make-shift torch as he lowered himself down the steps, taking extra care with where he placed his feet. After jumping off the last stair, he found himself in a neatly excavated tunnel, supported by the occasional metal beam. “Someone’s been here.” He whispered, lowering Chikorita to the floor. It wasn’t an entirely unnatural looking series of tunnels, and Michael suspected that it was most likely a case of a natural maze of passages that had been neatened by human ‘hands’. He sighed and made his way slowly through the maze, Chikorita at his side. It was a while before he realised that the tunnel was slightly sloped, and that it seemed to slowly spiral on itself, meaning that he was now a couple of floors lower than he had been when entering the passageways. “Interesting.” He mumbled as he turned around a suddenly sharp corner, noticing a light at the end. “Very interesting.” He repeated, returning Chikorita to her pokéball as he moved around the corner, stepping into the light to see a very unexpected sight...

Hope you enjoyed reading. I haven't done a fic in a Loooooong time, so sorry if it's not great.
Merci
The spoiler is unnecessary. Remove it for maximum fanfic effect. Normally, the spoiler's okay if the rest of the chapter is already large, but...I count just five paragraphs and a speech line, so not in this case. Anyway, it seems you have a Jasmine fetish, huh? xD you have two characters involved with her now...
ListenToLife
Not really; I just like the city of Olivine. Johto was always my favourite region, and most of my character revolve around water, which makes Olivine the perfect setting. Besides, she probably wont make much of an Appearance in this. You mean the battle, I presume? I just thought it'd be a little off if it was just in the middle of the Fan-fic. Wouldn't really fit. But the rest of the Chapter did seem rather short. >.> I'll swap it for ~s.
Merci
There we go~ It looks much better now. Well, personally my favorite regions are Kanto and Hoenn, though Lugia is one of my favorite Pokemon.
ListenToLife
The first pokémon game I had was Crystal, and the first Series I watched was Master Quest. I still play Crystal occasionally, though Heartgold/Soul Silver have taken over. Argh, you see right through my impenetrable plot hint.
