The Nuzlocke Nook - A Pokémon Club based on Nuzlockes

Well, I've been busy preparing dinner and all, but just dropping by to wish everyone a happy feast!

Decided to do a nuzlocke on Red. Going to do it emulator style so I can upload pics after every catch and gym battle.

Had plenty of free time over the last two days to continue the adventure (and will have more on this graveyard friggin shift). Since leaving Driftveil, the first thing I ran into on Route 6 was a Foongus (which given I already have Cresselia and Thorn, not needed or wanted) and in Chargestone Cave, where I was very excited about the prospect of catching something good, I was presented with Tunova or something, some airbourne electric eel thing. Anyway was gonna still go for it, but I forgot how Cassie (my Boldore) was and OTK'd it.

So yeah, feels like a long time since I got anything. I went and got my fossil revived, a Tirtouga that has been dubbed Donny (too obvious to ask you to guess why). He looks good, but able to surpass Oshi or Cassie? Don't think so.

So yeah, still stuck with what I got. Hopefully Twist mountain and Dragonspiral will provide good stuff.

The next challenge I will attempt when I get the chance is the [b]Wedlocke[/b], a variation on the Nuzlocke Challenge

RULE #1: FAINTED POKEMON ARE DEAD
When a Pokemon faints, it must be released forever (or boxed permanently). It is considered to be dead.

RULE #2: ONLY CATCH THE 1ST ELIGIBLE POKEMON IN AN AREA
You can catch or obtain only the first eligible obtainable Pokemon you encounter in any route or area, with exceptions being made based on the Pokemon's gender. Fail to catch it and you get nothing for the area.
• Genderless Pokemon cannot be caught. Ever.
• If you have 1, 3, or 5 Pokemon in your party, you ignore any Pokemon encounters whose gender you have an uneven number of, e.g. if you have just one male Pokemon and two female Pokemon, you cannot catch any more male Pokemon until the count is even again. If you have an even number of each gender, this does not apply.
[b]So if you have 1 male, you must catch the first female you find, then those 2 will become a pairing. So the 3rd and/or 5th pokemon would need a pokemon of the opposite gender so that they will become a pairing.[/b]
• "Dupes Clause" is recommended, to add to the uniqueness of each Pokemon. This means you do not count any encounter against any Pokemon whose species you have already caught, which is usually determined by the Poke Ball symbol by their HP bar.

RULE #3: ALL POKEMON MUST BE NICKNAMED
This is to increase the bond between you and your Pokemon. They're not just randoms; they're your friends. Treat them accordingly.

RULE #4: YOUR POKEMON ARE "PARTNERED" WITH EACH OTHER AND FIGHT IN PAIRS
• Only one male and one female can form a pair, and once they do, it lasts until one dies or is released.
• Each Pokemon on your team can battle only alongside its partner, if it has one. Switching Pokemon out in battle is allowed, but ONLY for the Pokemon's partner.
• If a Pokemon dies in battle, its partner must avenge the fallen Pokemon or die along with them; switching to any other Pokemon is forbidden, regardless of circumstance. (In the case of Double or Triple Battles, you may have to make exceptions. Do what feels right.)
• If a Pokemon's partner dies, it can gain a new one that doesn't already have a partner (either from a PC box or a wild Pokemon).

RULE #5: YOU CANNOT DEPOSIT POKEMON TO YOUR PC
• You must release Pokemon or have them die in battle if you want to withdraw anything in your PC.
• You can freely release your Pokemon (up to you if it counts as a "death" or not), but you will probably feel like a jerk for doing it.
• If you absolutely require HM moves to get through the game, you may temporarily break this rule and deposit a pair of Pokemon in the PC for one or two HM Pokemon; however, they cannot fight or do anything other than use HM moves outside of battle, and should be removed as soon as one of your main Pokemon can use the required HM move.

I just finshed making a Pokemon RP which I specifically restarted cause you know this club is such a warm and open place. Other than that nothing really, some nuzlockes going on and you know other random occurances.

Had a look at it but am undecided, leaning towards not joining. Partly because of my... ahem... own personality, and that I'm steadily getting more and more distant from this site, but also because I don't really get it. So everyone who joins is spread over all five regions and just going on their own regular journey like they do in the games?

Anyway, a few days at Grandparents has led to much progression. I have travelled across the mountains of northern Unova, defeated Brycen for my 7th badge, and witnessed in horror (lol) the joining of forces between the best-yet worst-yet cleverest-yet stupidest villian ever N (confused? Me too) and the legendary white dragon Reshirem. I am now 'destined' to befriend the counterpart - the black dragon Zekrom - and fight N to determine the fate of the future, and so on.

Getting to the point, my team has gained additions and trained hard. There are 13 pokemon with me at this point, 3 of whom probably won't ever make the team again, but the others I really don't know who to make a final team with. All of them are Lv40, unless stated.

[b]Oshi[/b] (Samurott, Lv43) so glad I choose him to start with; I have connected with him and in his final form looks badass. He's always with me, along with any 5 from 9. The one's you've all heard of are still with me like [b]Rokki[/b] (Unfezant, male, Rt3), [b]Cassie[/b] (Boldore, female, Wellspring Cave), [b]Poporri [/b](Damatarian, male, Rt4),[b]Thorn[/b] (Maracatus, male, Desert Resort), [b]Snappy[/b] (Krookodile, male, Relic Castle), [b]Kenda[/b] (Gurdurr, female, Cold Storage), and the newest members of the team; [b]Clarence [/b](Beartic, male, Rt7), [b]Havik[/b] (Litwick, male, Celes Tower) and [b]Draegen[/b] (Druddigon, male, Dragon Tower). Think I've got the rub of the green recently with these new guys and I'm very much enjoying training them, especially Clarence. Cubchoo is so cute <3

Also still have Ruff living with Prof.Juniper (again, lol). His time is kinda past now what with a moveset that is poor and I'm kinda not liking his final evolved form, but I don't have the heart to release him. Donny I want to train someday, but he'll never surpass Oshi. I also caught a Woobat in Twist Mountain, which I'm only keeping til he evolves. However it was a good catch, as its one less thing I'll encounter in Mistelron Cave thatISN'T an Axew...

Think I really need to get Kenda/Cassie/Havik to all evolve for them to seriously be involved from henceforth. Thoughts?

YES. You will start your own journey from your own Region of your choosing. As far as your progress, an option that I am allowing is that for some of you who have already been taking part in Nuzlockes, is to place your characters from your entries into this story. You can even have the same team. ONLY if you're from here though and let me know if you wish too. The advantage that you clearly have over the rest of the trainers, may not and possibly will not matter. After a while, and I am trying to rid the spoilers so don't go look for any, we will be forced to meet up not by choice of course but because the situation we are in will cause us to meet up in 1 region as a whole group. But before then we are simply going conduct ourselves on a Pokemon journey.
As the plot comes more and more in, we shall be having more and more fun with it.
But joining is up to you.
The other stuff is really just bonuses and my way of balancing/dealing with problems that come up like EVs

I see.

So you can be from anywhere, but you start your normal/traditional style adventure from Pallet/NewBark/Nuvema town with a traditional starter, along with any additional pokemon you can provide a believable backstory for you having. You travel as you would, or are doing with your actual game, and at some point we'll all have a combined plot somewhere?

^^ I recognise that site analysis, but can't think of the site with that format. Do know it though.

Anyway, just used Pokemon.wikia to get the same results anyway; ie research dragon types and bone up on my Pokemon geography.

Because I've forgotten so much. Still undecided on RPing or not.

Ps: No progress on White today due to sleep and wanting to do some trading with a friend to evolve Cassie and Kenda.

Bahamut Shark, what you said is exactly what I intend to do, hopefully, a lot more progress can be in first individual character development than the last time. You can make your charcter as interesting as you want because there will be some crazy stuff going down.

The problem with your RP, Wham, is it seems too technical. For example, the 'Move Evolution' thing. I honestly dont like that part. At all. It seems terrible. Maybe it can be well organised, and implimented in a game, it could work (Probably wouldn't be taken well by die-hard pokémon fans though), but it just seems like a bad idea for a roleplay.

And only allowing 2 moves for every starter is a bit rubbish. Most pokémon already know 4 moves by level 10, so it's a bit unfair.

Quoting because it makes conversation more fluent.

My main issue is the prospect of little interaction between a dozen or so people just listing their own adventures across a wide globe, then no-one being willing to lose to anyone else when battles take place. Although that bit might be my paranoia from an RP-novice. Also does look complicated.

The second thing is always an issue which I am addressing. For terms of simplicity, We will have trainers from various regions start in Kanto

Maybe the whole dream thing can act as a calling to one region in the long term (that might have been your plan anyway). Although thinking about it if a dozen people all start their adventure in the same place ie Pallet Town at the beginning it's going to be a cluster as well. Also Prof.Oak/Birch/Juniper won't have enough pokemon. So maybe your original plan is best. (Sorry to confuse you/meddle/dither).

The first and starting issue is how to start off,
Placing 10 or more people in 5 regions is complicated, so in an effort to save time and face, I'll have every one list their hometown and have them start somewhere in Kanto/Johto because they are the most connected and easiest to travel too. But in please refer to the OOC thread in my sig for your questions, simply so I can address the issues there. The thread feels more complicated than it will be minus plot. All that matters right now is that you are interested in RPing. I am glad fo it as well. I hope the other members are too.

Right... that kinda makes sense and is a bit better. And actually helps me with a character that I had an idea for a lot.

Yeah you're right; I am showing a lot of interest in something I'm 'leaning towards not joining' huh? Well I guess I just get idea's for characters I suppose. That and the fantasy worlds are so much better than here. So... yeah... maybe. I'm picking holes in your thing when I know nothing about the subject so sorry about that *slaps wrists*. I've only ever been in one short lived RP before so I'll probably be no good, but I might stick an app in. Just didn't want to post there then not join y'know. I'm sure once it takes off it won't look so overwhelming and will go smoothly.

You did indeed say that a pokemon can only learn 2 moves. Which is a bit rubbish, in my opinion.
I honestly dont know whether to join the RP or not. I love pokémon and all, but it doesn't seem like the type of RP to survive beyond 3-4 pages. Which I dont want to hassle myself with when I've got about 4 other RPs to deal with that seem to have a lot more promise; alongside life and all them hassles.

I fully intend to capture all of your interests, because I love crazy plots. In all honesty, this is a fantasy that I just want to see take life.
