Alright then~
I'll think of something for the groups.^^
Figured that it would be better than having ranks (besides leader and co-leader).

Mr.WHAM: Agreed to all.
That's pretty much the point: set your rules, but according to your playing style (unless you're like Mako and want to make it ass hard as possible :P).
And the Nuzlocke forums' motto is "grind like hell". The earlier, the better.:3
What do you mean with archived posts?:S

I really like the challenge you suggested.
But some of us are still trying to finish the Emerald run (I am =D), but sounds like something we could do next.
Which game?
by archived posts, I mean we'd look back and take into account teh history of everyone's runs, kinda like what they do in the actual Forum. We'd have to go through and find each individual's story. It's something I only suggest under certain conditions: 1. You have the time to find your own posts, 2. You are a member of the nuzlocke forums, cause it'd take up space on YCM. Basically, tell everyone's run story in order.

The game can't be Emerald unforunately and there are people currently working on a FireRed/White version.
So SoulSilver cause lugia can still know Aeroblast and through a fair amount of research on my end I found a patch on the game that let's you evolve trade onlys.

And I think I have the Generic List:
Crobat
Magikarp/Cloyster/Corsola/Lanturn (I'm being diverse here because you can catch all of these in 1 City: Olivine)
Furret
Dragonair (not Dragonite) or Kingdra (if you catch anything but magikarp you cannot have kingdra on the team, I'm regretting this rule but it's balanced
Magmar (not Magmortar)
Sudowoodo or Gallade. (Gardevoir does not count)

You may also do a custom 6 team, but it has to include 1 of the pokemon listed here.

EDIT: I was looking up Toxic Croak right and thinking about a possible movest and came up with this
Ability: Poison Touch
Toxicroak Movesets: Posion Jab, X-Scissor, Earthquake/Cross Chop & Ice Punch
or
Drain Punch, Swords Dance, Earthquake/Dark Pulse/Poison Jab & Ice Punch

@ generic list: Meh, I think it might be more fun if everyone gets a random/customized list.
Pre-made lists tend to have a lot of generic/over-used Pokémon that are surely good in-game, yeah.
But personally, I think the best thing about Nuzlockes is that you never know what you'll catch next.
It allows for more variety.=o

And what do you mean?
I thought about just adding some sub-groups like a Silver group, Sapphire group, etc.
Or something like that.:'3
Maybe with personalized userbars and all.
Yeah, if people want to keep track on their stories, that's fine.

Also:

Horsea Lv. 31
Shuri (Ninjask) Lv. 40
Ruby (Camerupt) Lv. 44
G.NA (Azumarill) Lv. 45
Spark (Minun) Lv. 46
+ HM Tropius (called him like that xD)

Just did the Space Center mission in Moosdeep and going diving now.
Horsea is new and Ninjask is slow at levelling up/finding opponents to beat.
It's basically the big 3 doing everything.:'D

The whole prose for the generic list was so that it would be doable, kinda like a test list so that everyone can get what they want, with custom ones. Its a Pokegoal, like finishing the game with a Chansey in team that knows Self-Destruct or Only using water types to beat 3 gyms....

I think I just came up with something...
Also my customized list, for when I eventually start my Nuzlocke will be my Pokemon D.R.E.A.M.S. Squad, the non-legendary version which runs Darkrai.
Deathcap (Breloom)
Raze (Absol)
Eragon (Garchomp)
Apollo (Typhlosion)
Mystdas (Kingdra)
Skyrein/Skion (Staraptor/Pidgeot)
The hard part is pulling off this list in a Nuzlocke...which makes it all the more better!!! XD I won't beat the game without going to Kanto in SS to pick up 2 of these bad boys and Safari Zoning a Gible. I made up a special clause for it. But to pokemon.eu or w/e to start this up, hopefully.

Soul Silver. I probably will have to wait forever...and just so you know everyone, when you can, obtain a Toxicroak. Somehow. It really doesn't matter just get one and Max out its ATK & speed. or Atk gets 252, then speed and health get an even distribution. Point is get a Toxicroak <---- he's one sexy mf

I'm back after an unexplained hiatus
Most of the population of Lavaridge Town, not counting the gym trainers "Who apparently live in the gym." are elderly, and an elderly lady near the sand baths gave me an egg. "Which I'll hatch later." Afterwards, I went into the hot springs to relax myself after having to deal with Team Magma, "It's so relaxing, I'm not leaving the hot spring." but I didn't stay in there long as I wanted to explore everywhere else. There was also a herb shop. "I better stock up on these herbs so I can make spag bol later." and one of the old men gave me a Charcoal. "Topaz can have that." Inside the house next door, resided the husband of the old lady who gave me the egg, and their grandson, "Or granddaughter, I dunno." offered to teach Mimic. "I'm not going to be that copycat from Saffron." After I had explored everywhere in Lavaridge, I went inside the gym.

The Lavaridge is gym is obviously a fire-type gym and I had to fall down and jump out of holes to get to the gym leader, whilst battling the trainers along the way. "I stocked up on you-know-whats." I found a hiker who likes volcanoes more than mountains. "Aren't Volcanoes, living mountains though?" The next I fought was a Cooltrainer with a Kecleon, "But it's a fire-type gym." and then a Kindler and the kindler after him wanted to relieve his stress, "Shame I can't help you there." and he hopes that Flannery will flame me. "With what, actual flamethrowers?" I then find a battle girl who uses a Meditite on me, "I'll say the same thing, this is a fire-type gym, and a Meditite doesn't belong here." but Sally took care of her, and a few holes later, I reached Flannery. "You better have Burn Heal!"

She's an inexperienced gym leader, and she calls me a puny trainer, "I'm not puny, but she's definately hot." and the first pokemon she sends out is a Numel, and Mudman took care of that thing, Slugma is literally the weakest fire-type in the game, so Mudman had no problem dispatching it. "Any other team member would've let Slugma set up." Flannery's Camerupt was pretty much just as easy to take down as Maxie's Camerupt, "Apart from the fact that Sunny Day was used." and then it was time for Torkoal to come out to play. I had to make a tough decision of what pokemon to use against Torkoal, I couldn't use my females because they'd get killed, so I decided to keep Mudman out there. Flannery decided to use a couple of Body Slams before killing me with 1 final Overheat. "Like that was going to happen." When the sunlight faded, Torkoal set up another Sunny Day, "Which brought me an extra turn." and after a 3rd Mud Shot hit, Torkoal fell, and I claimed $2900, a Heat Badge and TM50 (overheat) as my prize, oh and she gave me her phone number. "I get another hot girl's phone number."

As I exited the gym, my girlfriend May had just exited the Herb Shop, "Her pokemon might not like that." and because she recognised me as a strong trainer, she gave me a GO-GOGGLES, "That'll help me in the desert." and then she suggested that I challenge my dad in Petalburg before biking off. "She's so hot riding that bike."

Now that I have the GO-GOGGLES, I can go into the desert, and explore that tower that I saw in the distance. Legend has it that the Mirage Tower disappears and reappears like a mirage, and that the tower is home to 2 fossils. "It isn't a legend, I read about it online." The first pokemon that burrowed up from the ground was a trapinch, and I brought Wendy back to capture her, "Yet another female." and when I captured her, I named her Tammy. The worst part of the Mirage Tower is that some of the floor is actually unstable, and I could fall onto the lower floor. "Curse you unstable floor." As I continued going up the tower, Miss ESP had to kill every Trapinch we encountered because they had Arena Trap. "They're also telling me to come and fight them too." When I got to the top floor, Michael destroyed the rock that was in the way of the stairs going up to where 2 fossils resided. "Heh, take that Fossil Maniac." As I removed the Claw Fossil from its position, the floor around it crumbled away, and I had to get out of there, and so I jumped onto the sand in the desert, "It's like I'm a wannabe Indiana Jones." and the Mirage tower crumbled away and the Root Fossil disappeared into the sand. "We'll find it eventually though."

After I was finished with that Mirage Tower business, I went on to challenge the trainers. The first trainer enjoys having a picnic in the desert, "Who has picnics in a desert?" and she calls me mean for winning. "Boo hoo." The second guy felt like a superhero wearing the GO-GOGGLES, "What? GO-GOGGLEMAN?" the third person wanted to know where she could find some fossils, "Haha, I took one and the other sank into the ground." and the final guy says he has been searching for ruins "By running around a rock for 30 years? There are some ruins to the south apparently." and he gave me his phone number. I then met a picnicker who felt that this wasn't the right place for a picnic, "Smart lady, though I feel she was dumb enough to try and have a picnic here anyway." and there was a camper who offered me a sandwich if I lost. "As much as I would like that sandwich, I'd be game overed before I'd get a chance to eat it bud." He thought a sandwich would be a good enough bribe, "Yeah right." and I beat him without battling an eyelash, apart from the time when Nature Power turned into Earthquake in a sandstorm. After defeating the ruin maniac who got a critical hit with Scratch, "Because Scratch is the best move ever." I found a big rock with 6 small rocks around it, "What could this mean?" and then I went further down south to find a TM37 (Sandstorm).

Since I felt I wasn't ready to face my DAD yet, "Because he'd destroy and game over me." I needed to do more training. Something told me that I should go up Mt. Chimney again, and so I took the cable car up to Mt. Chimney, "Like a pro." only to find a shedload of trainers. I received a phone number from an elderly lady, "I'm a hit with the elderly as well? O..k." and a hiker who was staring at a lady who is running on the spot for no reason at all. All of the beuties on the mountains felt warm inside because of Mt. Chimney's heat, and one of them asked me to join her in the hot springs, "But I have a girlfriend already." however she was only joking and the 3rd beauty thought that my battling was like one of Mt. Chimneys eruptions.

The next stop on my grinding tour led me to Fallarbor Town so I can offload the meteorite in my bag to the first person I laid eyes on there, failing that, I'd just give it to that Cozmo bloke. I gave Prof. Cozmo my Meteorite and he gives me a TM27 (Return) in return for it. "Why do I have conflicted thoughts about 'return in return'?" I then went back to the Trick House to see if that eccentric Trick Master dude has set any other tricks for me. "A real trickster solves the tricks of the trick master, it's like trick-ception." Inside I saw alot of doors that opened and shut somehow, "Am I in a japanese room?" and the first trainer I fought asked how he keeps ending up here, "Maybe you walked in?" and then a Hiker wonders who would want a house this bizarre. "Anyone would ask that to be honest." After picking up the scroll and dealing with a Skitty that made Michael fall in love with it, "I'm not surprised, it's a Skitty." I had trouble with the doors before puttin the code on the door which read trick master is coveted, "Yeah? By who?" and received a Hard Stone before the trick master dude disappeared. Upon leaving the trick house it was time to return to Petalburg, but not before grinding for the next gym battle with DAD.

Hariyama is pretty much golden for Nuzlockes.=O
Norman shouldn't be much of a problem with that team.

And nice entries so far.

As for the lack of updates lately, I'm writing an article with tips on how to survive your Nuzlockes and what Pokémon to look out for.

Clubs "ranks"/groups:
we could base them on a selection of the games that sound the best (FireRed, LeafGreen, Gold, Silver, Platinum, ....)
or based on Pokémon (Kyogre group, Jirachi, ...)
or just custom ones, but IDK about that yet
Grind like hell
It’s the motto on the Nuzlocke forums and it’s basically what it’s about. Level up your Pokémon, beat lots of wild ones, train train train. Don’t hit the gyms before you have Pokémon with Levels that seem safe enough to go.:'3
Tip: Any sorts of "wall" Pokémon (bulky ones with high HP or DEF stats) are good and can let you win some time while you’re healing injured teammates.
I’ve made good experiences with Hariyama, Wailord, but there are a lot of those.:3

Adapt the game to your style
There are only a few original rules, mainly "when a Pokémon faints, you have to release it/put it into a PC box permanently" and "you can only catch the first Pokémon in every area" (but the last one is editable and can even mean either "you have to catch the first Pokémon" or you just can).
Everything else is extra baggage.
Some people count cave levels as different areas, some people use in-game trades or legendaries or eggs, some people only catch one type of Pokémon.
If you'd rather be forced to battle every Pokémon you see on a route and only catch 1 of your choice, then do that. It adds a flare.
If you want to go full mode and only have one heal per Pokémon center, a limited number of items or only items that can be used in battle…eh sure.
Edit the rules until they seem easy or hard enough to follow.:3
Nuzlocke makes the game more challenging, but it only works if your challenge is surmountable.

Dupe/evolutionary/Shiny clause
Sort of tied to point 2, but since this is about tips to make the challenge succesful, I’d really suggest to use them.
The dupe clause says that if you meet a Pokémon you’ve already caught, you don’t need to catch it. IMO it adds variety and raises your chances to build a good team, but then again. If your goal is becoming the guy with 6 Magikarps, guess it doesn’t count.=o
The evolutionary clause means that if a Pokémon is a (pre) evolution of a line you’ve already caught, you can let it slip. It’s twistable again though.
Shinies (if you use the clause) can always be caught.

Use trainer rematches (if you can)
The TV duo in Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald are great for it. If I need training, I just spam-battle them. They have a level 39 Loudred and a level 39 Magneton, and you can battle them as often as you want around Mauville and Fortree City. They’re only useful up to a certain level, but they’re good to level up.

Keep a HM slave
…and train it if possible.
You should always carry a Pokémon around that can learn at least 2 or 3 HM moves to get rid of rocks and stuff. I’d suggest to level it up though because it can let you save time.
Actually that’s why I mentioned the time-saving before. Using items in battles takes up rounds and can result in the next move of your opponent KO’ing you.
So it’s always good to have a "wall" around, or at least don’t keep a Pokémon at much lower levels than the rest in the team.

Use them items
Unless you have a "no buying of items" clause or something like that. I personally found that whenever I did a Nuzlocke, I’d use a lot of items. It’s better to use them than to be late. Also try to be smart and don't end up spending too much. Lemonades are inexpensive and better than for example Super Potions.

Zigzagoon ain't that useless
Because it's an option for a HM slave and if you're lucky, it will have the Pick Up ability. Pick Up lets you find random items - items that get more potent as the game goes on and can go from Potions to Rare Candies and medicine.
I mentioned Zigzagoon because it's the first Pokémon I thought of that can pick up things, but there are others.:D

One hero and back-up dancers or same-level team?
I’m not sure about that. I’ve heard about people being successful in their runs with just their starter, or their starter at a really high level and everyone else much lower. I personally like to keep everyone around a similar level, but see what works best for you. But for what I think, see below…

Work with different types
That’s another advice I thought worked well for me personally: Try to build a team with different types. Unless your challenge is a monotype one, which means only one Pokémon type is allowed. I usually try to cover type weaknesses with Pokémon from 2 types, but it can also hit you back.D=

Use them TMs
HMs depend, but TMs can be found in high numbers in most games. Use them.=O I’m usually restrective about TMs and keep them aside because I can’t decide which Pokémon is best to teach it and there may be a better one later. But in Nuzlocke runs, even if you do monotype runs, teach your Pokémon TMs to cover weaknesses. Don’t be too scared to use them up, you only have to count on that one main team that needs to make it.

Victory Road
Here’s a tip from Mr.Wham. I haven’t really tried it, but it seems like Pokémon that can be caught on the Victory Roads are good additions because they have often have some type advantage against the Elite 4.

Most of all, HAVE FUN!
It’s sort of like "adapt the game to your style". Nuzlockes are meant to be fun challenges that offer a change from the usual game runs. You’ll notice that if you give all your Pokémon nicknames or name them after a theme (like your favourite names or, IDK, ponies), you will want to keep them from fainting as long as possible.

Thanks to Mr.Wham for the help.
Also, I'd like to make Mako the co-leader. Because he's kept up with the topic for the longest and I think he'll be active. [s]I think...[/s]

Maybe someone else will be co-co-leader, but the ranks will mostly be on the same level.

Congrats on Mako being co-leader!!!! And Cina-sama (yeah I just did that) I think we should have a featured Pokemon on a week by week basis/ or whenerver we feel like changing it basis. I already have a few suggestions that I think will help everyone on their Nuzlockes.

In addition, I'm thinking of a project that revolves around Nuzlockes but I'll need more time for developing that Idea. How's everybody's current runs?

I like the idea. What should we base the featured Pokémon on? Competitivity, how good it fares in Nuzlockes, random Pokémon?
It will bring something more to the club, but I'm not too sure on what we should base the choices on [s]considering how I've never played competitively or anything.[/s]
If you want to do that, go ahead.:3

I've also been brainstorming some ideas for future club runs, but it's nothing concrete yet. October sounds like a good timing to start one, since it's either the start of the term or the middle for most people. Maybe we could do something Halloween-related?

As for a current run, I'm not doing one right now. Went up to the Pokémon League in Ruby, but failed against Steven.D=

For the featured Pokemon we can have a Pokemon that is not only good in Nuzlockes but hidden gems in general; an example of this would be Zubat or something (I actually might use Zubat first). And its not hard to get competitive. I started playing Pokemon online 2 weeks ago, though it's pretty dang serious.

And...I half suck at writing things because they'll never get done, especially considering what's going on at home right now. That's why I will as for a PIC in this current endeavor.

Would you be interested into running the featured Pokémon?=o

Unless the writing thing refers to that. I wouldn't mind doing it if no one wants to and there's an interest, but they would probably be Pokémon I just like for whatever reason.xD

Club run:

I had the idea of using a Pokémon as a starter that everyone of us mentioned as his/her favourite in the applications.
Fortunately enough, none of them came out twice.:3
The rules would basically be:

- standard Nuzlocke stuff
- must use the first evolution level of another member's favourite Pokémon as starter
- name trainer after said member

If a member's favourite is a Legendary, you get the second/next favourite that isn't one.

Thoughts?

That is awesome. Like legit awesome!!!!

And What I meant by the writing part is someone who'll counteract my disdain/laziness when it comes to writing. Finding the pokemon and discussing the usefulness will be an easy enough Task. Basically, someone who'd wirte it, though I imagine I would end up doing it any ways. And I don't mind at all. I'm just a spaz lol

Ah...if you send me your picks with a few notes about what makes them worth mentioning, I can do the writing part.

Also, let's step things up a bit here and call

Slendy / Thar Ablaze
Hivey / Barthandelus
Striker
Miror B. / Grapha too many words Sexy
Kanade Otonashi
~Renegade~
Skizo
Discord
//Zeromaru//
Renji
Yuzuru Otonashi
Comrade TentaSparkle
Smear
Insect Graveyard
.Leo
Majestic Bahamut
LarryMudkipz
Hemcows
Inferno Knight LC
Thor the Just
~Hayate Ayasaki~

and inform them that we're going to do a new run (either that favourite Pokémon run or something with a Halloween-theme).
As always, taking part is optional, but I like to know that everyone is informed about what's going on.

Please let me know what you think about the favourites run or any ideas you might have for Halloween.

Well, it seems like most favourites are from gen. I, II and V?
It ultimately depends on how many participants we have and when we do it.

Tbh, I'm growing a bit bored of Emerald...xD

ALSO,
second attempt on the Ruby Elite 4:

Wailord, Lv. 47
Cradily, Lv. 48
Groudon, Lv. 50
Weezing, Lv. 51
Sceptile, Lv. 51
Hariyama, Lv. 52

It's my second try after losing to Steven.D: If it's not working this time, forget it.x3

Europe and Australia, yes (11th for Australia, 12th for Europe). But for America it comes out tomorrow

To stop the post being a +1: If we pick someone else's favourite to use, then we would have to select a game that the pokemon is available in.

That actually makes more sense than playing one game over and over. I initially wanted to do one with everyone doing the same game with a little hacking to get the starters, but that works just as well.
I doubt a Nuzlocke would be difficult for me anymore though, because I just realized something.
So this had to have happened to me back when I was 11 or 12. I had been playing Silver & Gold for the xth time in a row. I was winning the game like a baws, when I suddenly got a call from the Pokemon Professor Elm. This happened after I beat Professor Oak and went to the Pokemon League. I headed on over to MT.Silver for some rigorous training against Red when he called. He said something about a gift for me. As much as I liked the Professor, I was not about to stop all my hard work. So I saved game and went to face Red. I then Swept his Team with Typholsion, in my efforts to raise him to level 100, (he was in his 90's about 3 or 5). At this point, I had run through games to the point where I had a pack too full of healing items and [s]almost[/s] never whited out. So After beating Red, The game obviously returned me to New Bark Town, where I promptly visited Professor Elm. After what seemed like a very long talk, I walked over to the Pokemon table and received Chikorita. This would not be the last of my miracles. I honestly don't remember how many Pokemon I had at this point but I knew it was a lot. So in order to train my Chikorita, I took it along the routes of every road I'd ever been on. After I passed into Violet City I decided, lets go to the Gym for fun. That's when I found out in my unhacked version of Silver, I could battle all 16 gyms again. I proceeded to do this with my Chikorita. And on the plus side, my rival still had his Feraligatr. Throughout this whole journey Chikorita was the only pokemon I truly trained and it never fainted, NONE of my team did, even when I swaped them out. I was 12 years old and old pro at Pokemon. I'm eager to do a Nuzlocke now to see how my skills have gotten. Just gotta figure out how to download a rom and keep the fact that I have one hidden.
