Stan Alda
Also posted on on Card Game Coalition! Nervous Tick EARTH Level 2 Insect/Effect Once per turn, during your Main Phase, you must Special Summon 1 Level 4 or lower Insect-type monster from your hand; if you cannot, destroy this card. The summoned monster cannot activated its effect or be used as an Xyz Material during the turn it is Summoned. When this monster would be destroyed by battle, destroy 1 Insect-type monster on your side of the field instead; if you cannot, destroy this card. As long as this card is on the field, you must shuffle your Deck during your Standby Phase. 1000/750 Link to comment
seattleite
Not all that useful.. It's true to its name, which is cool, but as far as playability is lacking. I don't see how insects could use this. The effect negation and xyz restriction mean you leave it up to Tribute Summons (insects don't have much) and Synchro Summons (same). The second effect can force you to destroy whatever insect setup you have. Link to comment
-Griffin
I'm with Seattleite. I just don't see where I'd really want to use this. I don't know if it would be pushing into overpowered territory, but with the restrictions, I'd say you might be able to make this Summon from the Deck and still be balanced, since it's quite an oddity which would often be stuck in face-up attack for a turn to use its effect. Stan Alda
Should I cut down on the restrictions? I just didn't want to make an extremely cheap Xyz or Inzektor engine. Link to comment
-Griffin
I suppose you could cut down the restrictions, but even then I don't know where I'd run it. Possibly just to get Howling Insect or whatever it's called, and ram to get its effect. It just doesn't seem to accomplish much. I just checked all tribute-summon-able Insects, none of them are great (and there are other engines I'd rather use). They also only have 1 Synchro, and this card can't make it with its effect. I think Summoning from Deck would be interesting. You could make instant level 5 Synchros (which isn't a rare thing to do), but you also get some other options like ramming a Howling Insect, or protecting Tick to use as an advantage engine.
I just don't like the idea of summoning from the Deck, mostly because it screws with the random, reckless summoning of this OCD-afflicted insect. On the other hand, that would mean you'd shuffle twice (you have to shuffle after Summoning or drawing driectly from the deck, if I remember correctly), which is interesting...I'll think about it. It's a written card, which'll make changing easy. Link to comment
-Griffin
You could also give it an effect of requiring you to reveal an Insect as a cost for the Summon. That would keep some of the feel? Link to comment
