"Alright, my go." He began to draw out of habit, then remebered his lockdown. "Know what? That was a decent move there. However, I'm just getting warmed up! I activate 'Monster Reborn'! Return to me, 'Wattwoodpecker'!" Leo tossed the monster onto his Duel Disk. "And now I attack your Life Points directly! Plus, my 'Wattwoodpecker' has the special power to attack you twice per turn. Take out her Life Points!" Knowing she has a face-down, she's probably up to something. Sure, I could potentially have a win here, but if she has something like Mirror Force, it's best to keep a monster in the hand to back me up. And if she wonders what happened... I'm a kid. I forgot I had a card in the hand. So sue me.

"Aaaahhh!" Arianna shouted as an electric bolt shot from the mouth of Wattwoodpecker hit her. "Hehe, good shot, but not good enough, because when I tale 1000 or more points of damage from an Attack, I can Special Summon my Ruklamba the Spirit King to my side of the field!" (1000/2000) A giant crocodile-like creature appeared, growling fiercely, before crossing it's arms and reverting into a defensive position. "Now, let's see your Woodpecker do anymore damage!" Arianna smiled. He was young, but this was a test for the real world, and she wasn't going to go easy on him. "Oh, and before I forget, I activate my face-down Solemn Wishes card, this increases my Life Points by 500 each time I draw a card!" Arianna winked, "So then, still your move, anything else?". It was going extremely well for her, maybe this deck could actually work, if she drew another Yowie next turn, then this would be over soon, but she knew that wasn't going to happen

What? Sure, Leo knew that Arianna had something up her sleeve, but something this simple? He could have totally wiped out her remaining Life Points if he'd just summoned his Wattpheasant. With it, he could have had a free direct attack, as well as removing her monster from play for a turn. That would've been helpful. Unfortunately, it was too late to bring out Wattpheasant and use its effect. The timing was way off. He hoped she knew how close she'd come to a major failure. He put on his pouty face. "Ah, nuts! I should'ah played the card in my hand! I would've had this thing won! Ah, well, I guess it's too late now... I end." He had to keep pouting. He knew it was a random mistake that anyone could make, and Roba wouldn't really be upset unless it cost him the duel. Even now, the whole purpose of this was to get to know these interns inside and out. Crying was all a part of disguise. Besides, he still wasn't planning on losing this thing.

"Okay, my draw, and now thanks to my Solemn wishes I gain 500 Life Points (2500)" Looking at the card in her hand, she smiled. It was certainly useful, and could easily be played now if necessary. "Okay, I Summon my Ipiria in Attack Mode!" (500/500) A blue lizard with beautiful silky features appeared out of the card and hissed, its yellow eyes glaring at Leo. "Now, his effect lets me draw another card from my deck, and that means I also get 500 more Life Points (3000)" The card she drew wouldn't end the duel, but it'd certainly put Leo on the back foot, and all's she would need to do is attack again in the next turn. "Okay! I activate my Spell card! Excalibur! This equip card doubles the ATK points of one of my monsters, but I have to skip my draw phase if I want to keep it on the field. Now, equip yourself to Ruklamba, Excalibur!". The silver sword, which had a decorated turquoise handle magically appeared in Ruklamba's hand, to which it looked at it for a moment, before raising it. "Now, Ruklamba, Attack and destroy his Wattwoodpecker!" She smiled, as Ruklamba hurled at the bird with its sword. It was destroyed, and Leo took 1000 points of damage (Leo: 1000). "Now, Ipiria, you too!" She pointed, as the silky lizard went straight for Leo's Life Points, screeching at the top its lungs (Leo: 500). "You've been a great opponent Leo, and yes, you could've won. You'll be a great duelist one day, your move.".

OOC: I took the liberty of destroying his monsters and reducing his Life Points because I know everything he can do, I'm sure that'd be fine though won't it?

Sure, his life points were low, but he had enough to work with in his hand anyway. "I draw!" He picked up a card and grinned. "I summon 'Wattpheasant', in attack position! If that's not enough, I equip it with 'Axe of Despair', giving him a grand 1000 point boost. (2000 ATK)" This was epic. Arianna would never know what hit her. "Now, my 'Wattpheasant' uses its ability to attack you directly. And if that's not enough, it has a side effect that removes one of your monsters from play." He gestured towards her Ruklamba. "And when your target leaves the field, as we know, it gets rid of your 'Excaliber' equip spell, reducing your monster's attack. Take that!" he exclaimed, thrusting his hand out. "That will end my turn."

OoC: ...Unless you can stop me...? Anywho, 500 Life Points and nothing on the field was plenty for me, as you can tell.

"Ah, good move" Arianna said, screwing her eyes up as the bird bypassed her monsters and attacked her directly. She was even more shocked when Ruklamba was removed from the game, destroying her Excalibur spell card. "But it's my move now, and because I drew, Solemn Wishes increases my Life Points once again!" (1500). She'd drew another good card, this time with the power to end the game very soon. "Now, I tribute my Ruklamba and Ipiria, to Summon my most feared creature, come out Rainbow Snake Eingana!" (2200/2400) A huge serpent with dazzling scales burst out the card, its yellow eyes staring down at its next victim, the Axe wielding Wattpheasant. "I'm sorry Leo, but you can't beat this monster." She smiled, knowing that victory was in sight. "Now go, Rainbow Snake Eingana! Destroy his Wattpheasant!" She pointed at the bird, which her snake promptly devoured, grasping it by the head and swallowing it. (Leo: 300) "It's both beautiful and deadly..." She mused, before realising that it wasn't finished yet. "Your move Leo!"

Leo breathed in deeply, thinking about all the possibilities. 2200 points was a lot of attack, and there wasn't much he could do. This card had to be somewhat drastic, with enough power to save the day. His monsters wouldn't be able to do that, at least not at this point. He needed something good, or this was game. Winning wasn't vital, but if he could take somebody out, others might want to duel him as well, giving him all the information he needed. "I draw!" He mentally cringed when he saw his Wattlemur, but he grinned wildly, trying to throw a bluff. "I set a monster face-down. Try to get through that! Your move!" This was a wild bluff, but it had to work. If Arianna drew a monster, or had some effect that destroys stuff, it was over. Whether she attacked with one monster, or not at all, it could change the game in his favor.

It must be something strong, but nothing my Eingana can't take down... Arianna thought as she drew her card. "Now, I gain 500 Life Points for drawing a card!" (2000). Looking at the card she realised it was one of her favourites. If this card of Leo's was a strong as he made out, she had to be careful. "I play one monster in face-down defence-mode. Now, Eingana, destroy his monster!" An electric lemur burst out of the card before being devoured by Eingana. Arianna looked agitated: "You...had...a Wattlemur, and I could've won this duel..." Arianna wasn't best pleased as everyone could tell "Good bluff, but it won't work again! I end my turn!" She pointed at Leo. He was holding his own, but once her face-down monsters was flipped face up, he would have no other options.

"Well, we're even now, I guess. We both could have won, but instead, we fell for each other's bluffs. Anyway, I draw!" He looked at his card. "I play 'Pot of Greed', letting me draw two cards." He looked at his hand. He couldn't win at this point, but he could give it a try. "I summon my 'Wattgiraffe', who can throw a direct attack right at your Life Points (1200 ATK)!" He watched as his monster launched an attack. "Now, I set a card face-down, and I end my turn." This girl thought she was all that, but this face-down was the key to winning. "I end my turn, and due to my 'Wattlemur', you can't attack in your next turn." This was great. She couldn't attack him, and his face-down protected him from almost any other surprises she might have in store.

"Okay, I draw!" Arianna said, determined to finish this duel soon. The nutritious sparkles of Solemn Wishes wafted over her, increasing her Life Points (1300). "Oh look! It's the card you just drew, Pot of Greed! And by drawing two more cards, my Life Points increase!" (1800). Looking at her new acquisitions, she smiled. "Now, you know this card well, Monster Reborn!" Arianna said, as she placed the spell card on her duel disk, an ornate sword appearing out of the card. "I'm going to use it to bring back my Ipiria, and when its summoned, you remember, I draw a card!" (500/500) (2300). The silky-haired lizard reappeared, it fixing its stare on the Wattgiraffe on Leo's side of the field. "Now, I summon another Ipiria from my hand! And that means another card, and 500 more Life Points, but, I'm not done, as I activate my spell card! Allegro Toile! Now I can destroy that face-down card of yours!" (2800)

"Just to make sure you don't pull any nasty tricks with your Rainbow Snake, I counter your 'Allegro Toile' by activating 'Forbidden Chalice', which negates your monster's ability, but gives it a few measly points, which won't do you any good anyway, without a Battle Phase." Leo pulled his had down a tad. This duel was really taking its toll on him. Unfortunately, if one intern was dragging out a duel this long, countering everything he did, then he might have a problem. Luckily, nothing was on the line here. Next time he fought this girl, he would have a deck that could completely counter her every move. "And that's all. (Rainbow snake: 2600 ATK)

"Well, I have to end it now I'm afraid, Leo, it's been fun!" She smiled, happy to have won the duel. "I'll enter my Battle Phase, which I now cannot conduct, so I'll head into my 2nd Main Phase, and so I activate my Spell card, Mischief if the Time Goddess! This card allows me to skip your turn, and conduct my next Battle Phase!" A Nordic Goddess appeared out of the card and waved her staff about, before the sparkle from the staff, and it became the battle phase again, Arianna's monsters ready to take a piece out of Leo's Life Points. "Now, it'd only be fitting is my Eingana wiped out the rest of your Life Points, seeing as though you were so generous as to give it some extra ATK points last turn, so go Eingana, finish this duel!" Arianna pointed at the Wattgiraffe, its eyes widened in horror before the snake gulped it down and thrust at Leo, reducing his Life Points (Leo: 0). "Yay! I won, are you okay Leo? You look a little tired. Anyway, that's enough duelling for now isn't it. Should we talk about something else."

Leo shrugged at his defeat. He put on a pouty face, then changed it to a determined one. "Ah, man! Good duel, though, I guess. And yeah, I guess I'm fine, but that was SO FUN! I want to try my luck at the rest of you all!" He pointed at all of the interns. "Come on! Anybody?"

Dr. Underwood
Wow, that kid was strange. Very strange. He couldn't believe that, after a loss like that, the boy wanted more. There wasn't that high of a chance that he could beat any of the interns. But, then again, this boy was somewhat strong, and gave the interns a taste of what could happen when they were out time traveling, having somebody that they didn't have to get to know, and chances were, this kid had a couple different decks. He was glad to see the interns struggle a bit, despite himself. It showed that they could be cool under pressure. He picked up a donut from his box and started eating it, wondering if anybody was going to agree to duel Leo, or whatever was going to happen next.

Nathaniel remained leaning against the wall as he only smirked at Arianna’s victory. ‘Whatever…She literally went unfair at the kid and it was predictable that she would win after totally abusing him. Not even I would be that cruel to my fans, not like the kid is her fan for what she did,’ he thought glancing at Leo shocked that he wanted to duel more even after his defeat. “I have confirmed that you went too far... He’s just a kid. He’s not some rival that’s going to steal a title that you have kept for so long,” the calm Nathaniel gave Arianna a cold stared as he said that remaining stoic and wise. He then walked up to Leo while holding his two suitcases and said. “Alright, I a-”

Interrupting all conversations, Dr. Knight applauded ecstatic as he slammed his fists into his his desk with enthusiasm. “Well done everyone, outstanding job so far,” he complimented everyone as he moved onto the serious matter.

“As you all know, I am Dr. Knight and you by now know all of the Doctors as part of the team…” he informed as his grin reached its peak. “Alright, how about you introduce yourself to your co-workers that you will be traveling with through time so that you can strengthen each other’s bonds and support each other in the desperate times,”

Nathaniel looked back into reality and remained silent. He wanted to wait for at least a few other people to introduce themselves before he would blow their minds away. ‘Perhaps this could get interesting,’

Arianna turned to Nathaniel, who seemed to be criticising her. "I asked for a duel, and a duel I got. There are risks in every duel we play, but if Leo thought he couldn't handle duelling someone specially picked to 'save the world' or something like that, then he shouldn't have accepted." Arianna looked away for a second to stop herself from winding herself up. "But look, he wants more duels. I couldn't have gone that hard on him if he's peppier than he was when I got here." Arianna winked, walking over to Nathaniel and patting him on the back before whispering "You don't need to criticize me, I am your equal and not your enemy, it won't help anyone if you keep doing that. And besides, the people trying to take over the world shouldn't be shown any mercy, should they?" She looked at him, and while not expecting an answer from her rhetorical question, she wore a face that would seem to want such a response. She then walked over to the centre of the lab were Dr. Knight was calling everyone together.

After a brief pause of listening to Arianna, Nathaniel was sickened by her excuses as he shrugged his shoulders and closed his eyes. Relaxed. “I guess you will never get fans if you are going to be that ruthless to a mere child who wanted some fun. Most of what you said was invalid anyway, because he didn’t know you were going to unfairly strip most of his hand away before he even started your turn. You’re lucky you didn’t send your fan to hell…You’ve got to realize who your real enemies are, a child is not your enemy,” Nathaniel replied refocusing himself onto the big picture as he walked away.

He began to show hatred to his partners and their ignorance that they plagued everyone else with. They weren’t nearly as focused and fair as the Scientists, that he had begun to respect. He as expected was neutral of Lynn’s presence, secondly followed by the reckless and cocky Yuuto because they had hope. He disliked Arianna’s technic of handling duels and using what her Opponent’s did against them. Neverless, he will ignore them unless provoked.

Nathaniel then headed to the silent centre of the lab gave a hint of a smile as he decided to start because nobody even bothered. “Hello everyone, I am Nathaniel King,” he greeted remaining stoic as he sharply said ‘Nathaniel’ because most of his partners must have forgotten it. Or they perhaps didn’t bother to even notice. “I am a former Professional Duelist known as the Card Collector. Why do you ask?...Because I have quite a lot of competitive decks in my collection,” he said raising his hands containing his two suitcases that he was certain that nobody bothered to notice before. “My greatest achievement guaranteed, was my victory in the Regionals last year, but unfortunately I got into the top 8 of the Nationals, last year…Out of eight qualified participants,” he explained to his co-workers pausing as he waited for any responses. “I would like to add that I have a passion for gaining knowledge of the past and collecting them,”

Leo started cracking up mentally. He didn't show it, but inside, he couldn't get over the fact that this Intern... Nathaniel... was acting like he was a little, helpless fan. 'A child is not your enemy..." This was hilarious. But in the long run, it was golden. He really didn't know anyone, but he mildly regretted having to oppose these guys. Arianna was extremely determined, and Nathanial seemed strong, but somewhat like an all-around nice guy. He should have been extremely glad that this boy was turning against his fellow intern. Maybe he could use this to his advantage...? Plus, now he could get insight on who was who in this operation. If he knew the inside story, he could completely expose their weaknesses, and use it to his advantage. He put on his playful face, "Hey, guys! I'm Leo Armstrong, somewhere near the best duelist in the world! Yes, I did just take pity on this girl by letting her win... but it was all just for show!":

Dr. Underwood
He smiled, despite himself. This kid was a fun guy, and had a sence of strength, like the power of the Interns. Yet there was something... different. It seemed as if he was part of something bigger than just a duelist league. Norman (Dr. Underwood) had no idea what this was, but he still liked the kid now, more than ever, after being defeated and still showing strength... it was amazing. Maybe he could make an offer... no. It was too early for that. Maybe if the kid stuck around, he could offer internship. But not yet. He held up his hand, quieting Leo, and introduced himself. "I am Dr. Underwood, one of the scientists. It is my pleasure to be one of the creators of the Time Machine, and I'd be more than happy to duel anyone who wants a challenge. I wish you all luck on your assignment."

Arianna heard Nathaniel's snide remarks but didn't respond. She was better than that to get into a slogging match with someone who was supposed to be on her side. Walking over to the rest of the people in the lab, she heard Nathaniel's footsteps behind her. He introduced himself, and Arianna afforded him no more than a sidewards glance, now he was showing off about his great tournament achievements. Big deal, he has no goals, or objectives other than to be strong. Where are his values? He stands for nothing but himself, and I'm going to have to teach him to be better to people, but how.. Suddenly, snapped out of her thought, she heard Leo introduce himself, and say about letting Arianna win "Haha, I bet you did! You're very strong you know!" She smiled, as Dr. Underwood began to introduce himself. It seemed it was Arianna's turn then: "Hello! I'm Arianna! I am an animal rights activist and work for Domino Wildlife Foundation. As you might have seen, most of my cards are based on animals, like my Eingana and Ipiria. It's because I just love animals! I also want to help you all out, and as an intern I'll try my hardest to put a stop to the evil that this person, - I think his name was Roba, wasn't it? - is doing, or going to do to this world." She looked at Nathaniel, before smiling and continuing "I wish everyone the best of luck, wherever they're sent to."

After watching the duels draw to there conclusion, and having mentally run over the calculations for the machinery, Chase had found himself listening to to the intern known as Arianna speech. Chase decided then it was time to break into the conversation. he whilsted to draw everyones attention, before striding forwards into the limelight as it were.

"Now then, as some of you supposed genius's would have worked out, I am Doctor Chase. I would spend hours rattling off my list of qualifications, but I think I would die of old age before I finished. For those of you who are intrested, my role is ensuring that the machine itself works as correctly as possible given the data I have." he took a pause for breath, before moving away from the limelight. "Now please take no offence if I learn none of your names, I have much better things to spend my limited time of this planet on. As Susan will have already worked out, I will call you by whatever name comes into my head." He checked his watch for the time, and relaized they were behind schedule.
"Now if you would kindly hurry up and introduce yourselves we can move onto the reason you are actually here for." He turned away from the rest of the group, wondering if he could slip away for a drink. He was thirsty after his duel.

"Susan and Joy and all those stupid nicknames..." Lynn grumbled to herself irritably before deciding to do as Chase asked. "Well, I might as well get this over with so we can get to the good part of our jobs," she spoke with a smirk on her face. "Anyway..." Lynn took a few steps forward and then turned around to face the other interns. "'Sup, everyone?" she greeted them enthusiastically. "I'm Lynn Mason. I'm sixteen years old and I signed up for this job 'cause it'll let me have an exclusive chance to study time travel firsthand, as well as improving my Duel Monsters knowledge in the process." Looking around and feeling satisfied with her short but decent introduction, she then whipped around to face Dr. Chase. "And don't worry," Lynn told him sweetly, "I'll forgive you if you screw up my name." Sarcastically, she added, "I mean, it's not like you'll mess it up more than, like, a hundred times, so it's all good."

With that done, she went back to take her place in the tiny group of interns.

Yuuto walked out of the group of interns. "Hello. I am Yuuto Diasu. I use a deck type of level zero monsters. I love dueling and will defeat anyone who tries to take me down." Yuuto looks at the interns, then turns to the scientists, and back to the interns. "I guess I signed up for this because I really want to be able to time travel and am looking forward to dueling in different time periods." Yuuto looked back down at his feet. Then his head popped up with the exact thing he wanted more than all. "Mostly, I think it would be awesome to duel the legendary duelists Yugi Muto, Jaden Yuki, Yusei Fudo, and Yuma Tsukumo. Maybe I'll even be strong enough to beat them. Also I hope to befriend them and get tips from them." Yuuto walked back into the cluster of interns, finished with his introduction.

After listening to most of the team, the slightly impatient and viewed to be kind Doctor collided two of his hands into a miniature clap. “Interesting,” Dr. Knight smiled casually pacing around as he left his spot on the walls that he leaned on as he held his book that he has been reading since entering onto his hands. After a few seconds, he walked towards the centre of the lab that most of the team gathered, under his command. “Now for the business we have to get onto topic for, unfortunately but there are some important issues to cover,”

The gentle Doctor placed his black book carefully onto the table while reading the title. “‘Guide to Time Travel VOL. 1’, the team has spent quite a lot of our time since our founding on storing this data. We have been researching how to make time remain stable, when traveling through it and how you can avoid causing paradoxes…Please take the extra time to slowly read it. It will make the difference,” Dr. Knight inform pausing hesitantly as he walked backwards from the table to see who will be the first to read it as he went onto further detail. “Anyway while you debate who reads it for the night…I should tell you that tomorrow is when the construction of the Time Machine is complete, so the real action will begin tomorrow. The technical stuff will also be handled tomorrow so I will wish you all a good rest before your true big day,”

Shrugging slightly, Dr. Knight looked around at his partners sheepishly. “Anything else essential to add?” he asked his colleagues.

 • 3 weeks later...

(Time skip: Next day)

Yuuto woke early in the morning hearing his doorbell ring. "I wonder who that is?" Yuuto said. He walked to his door and opened it. All that was there was a package. Yuuto opened the package and in it was a stack of cards. Yuuto started looking through them. Then he slammed the door closed, ran to his room, and grabbed his deck. Yuuto started frantically searching for a few certain cards from his deck and added them to the stack of cards. "I think my deck just got better, but I wonder where these cards came from and how they just happened to be Silent monsters." Yuuto shrugged it off and went back to bed, trying to fall asleep.

Because the fact that the rest of the Interns were reluctant to read the book given, Nathaniel decided to read it for the night. He learned several obvious factors that could ruin the past and future that he had to make sure his teammates wouldn’t ruin the task that the Scientists have devoted so long for.

Also during the night, Nathaniel was looking through his collection of decks to take with him to the first place. He didn’t want to waste the time by taking a deck that the people of that time wouldn’t know is from their time and would suspect something, or it could dent the future. However, for fighting against enemies that used powerful decks, he needed to try his best to support his team of reckless Duelists.

Out of his collection, Nathaniel selected three decks to use that he felt confident wouldn’t let him down. As he was all prepared, Nathaniel waited for day to start before he left towards the laboratory.

___

Meanwhile, Dr. Knight aka Samuel had during the night sent Roba a email containing enough knowledge about the Interns that was shown during their first day. He had recorded half of the Yuuto vs Nathaniel duel before Yuuto Special Summoned his Timelord monster because Remi and Leo were proof enough. He was certain that they would have reported everything about the four Interns considering all four dueled yesterday. He especially mentioned how Yuuto succeeded at the near impossible by evolving his Number into a Chaos Number

The plan was close to finally begin, Samuel had been secretly constructing a wide range of robotic Duel Drones that were programmed to eliminate the Interns and assist Roba’s faction…Once he had finished with some technical difficulties.

Observing all of his creations in the basement of his house, Samuel observed the bot that was the least interesting: a thin humanoid chunk of rusty metal that was unable to transform into anything essential. Pressing a button on his remote, the Drone turned on. “Prototype Drone 01…Or should I say Proto…” he then paused at the slow scrap of metal that was imperfect in comparison to the rest yet it was completed while the rest still needed work. “...I have a task for you to do...Soon,”

The robot slanted its head as it emotionlessly said in a slow and stereotypical robotic tone. “I will obey…Obey…Ob-”

“Yeah, yeah, yeah. I get what you’re meaning,” Samuel interrupted the bot as he stared at the remote curious in what he should do. Turning ‘Proto’ off, he then went to his Secret Room to send Roba another email informing Roba that he has constructed several Duel Drones and that he asks that one of them gets to travel in time today to test it out.

His task for the moment was finished…Temporally finished. All he needed to do now was get prepared for heading to the lab and continue knowing where the Interns were.

Lynn performed her usual routine in the morning; get up, get dressed, get clean and get breakfast. A simple and efficient method to become prepared for the day's work. After gulping the last remaining orange juice from a glass, Lynn made her way upstairs to her bedroom. My last deck sucked, no question, she concluded in her head as she rummaged through her drawers. I need something that could take an enemy out swiftly. As she inspected the interior of a drawer, she thought frustratedly, Ugh! Where is it!

Closing the drawer, she made her way to her desk, but the deck she was trying to locate wasn't there. Furious, she kicked her dresser, but this only resulted in her hurting her foot. Then, Lynn saw something fall from the corner of her eye. She bent down and picked up a card case, opening it up to find the deck she had been looking for. "Jackpot," she whispered to herself victoriously. "Watch out. Lynn's going to scorch any evil that gets in her way!"
