Beloved Captain Ch. 1 Reunion[PG-16/IC/Started/Accepting]

Recommended Posts

Seoul followed Soren, not sure where he was going. She just wanted to see whatever was in town. She wasn't looking at anything in particular, just enjoying the fact that none of the townsfolk were bothering her. She just followed wherever Soren led her to. She notices that he kept looking at her while they walked. He had promised to keep her safe, so she kept reminding herself that he was a crewmate, one o the people who had never attempted to hurt her.

Milli had made his way back to where everyone had first gathered. Maybe there were some stragglers that needed some fomr of company. It was odd though this feeling of life and and adventure. When he came back he noticed that no one was there. Ah poo he thought but then again it was interesting to see the two monsters walking off in the distance trying not to be too noticed. Though how could you not notice him if he was walking down the road. The scenery was immaculate and to think that Percy picked this location all by himself. My the boy sure has grown Milli thought.

Speaking of Percy he saw a lone figure sitting still simply watching the waters. While they were something to marvel at Milli noticed that it was Percy doing the sightseeing.
"Oh come now Percy you can't have gathered all of us here after a two-year waiting period just to sit by yourself. Go forth and socialize with everyone see the friends you've missed so dearly. Though I guess you did get to chat with us since you came and rounded us all up. I must say coordinating this must have taken a lot of effort and you seem to have done it rather efficiently as well. Very impressive indeed. So new captain what does our ship look like?" He said with a curious tone wondering if there would be enough space for him to adequately make use of his culinary talents.

"Maximilian?!"

Sharon was suprised when the older man appeared and offered his assistance. His Chimaera Cloth was pretty useful in many situations, this being one of them. After handing the sword back to her, she held it in her hand for a few moments. gripping the hilt tightly in her left hand.

"Something wrong?" she heard someone ask. Perhaps it was Takao or Jozef; she wasn't really sure.

"Nothing..." she replied. She wondered what bothered her, She could feel the abnormality gone in the weapon, so it shouldn't blast ice crystals all over, but something still bothered her. "Hey Maximilian..." she said, turning around, but the chef had already left.

"Everything's fixed right?" Takao asked, nudging Sharon to go and enjoy the night already. "So don't look so sad."

"So then, shall we go?" Robert asked. Did he look forward to this gathering? Maybe she should just stop worrying and enjoy herself as well. "Yeah, lets," she replied, re-sheathing her sword and heading over to the bar...

Not Vesuva? Then why...

Riku. Riku had a new commission. And wherever she went, if he were even remotely close...

A flood of memories rushed through her. Things she had tried to block out since her last meeting with the mage. And now he was in the port town, as was the ship that she was going to have to board tomorrow. She didn't know how close she would be to her former lover, but she tried to remember what happened at each stage of vicinity.

It wasn't hard. She was already getting an influx of memories, and eventually, it reached this one. She was going to keep remembering things like this as long as she was even remotely near him. That was fine, she spent most of her Pre-Captain Life remembering everything that she had ever done. But then again, this was an influx of over five years of memories. And Eula felt like she was going to collapse.

"Joan. I get it that you want to go have fun, but..."

Eula's legs buckled. Half a decade's worth of things that she would rather not remember were coming back. And until they left town, there was no escaping them.

She looked up to see Joan staring at hew with this "What are you doing, are you okay?" face. Eula stood up. The pain was subsiding, but she was going to have to deal with it until she left. Preemptively, mumbled "I'm fine." to Joan before heading towards the port town.

Seoul, still sticking close to Soren, walked toward the building he had begun walking toward. She looked around the area around it, Wondering what he meant by seeing a town from above. Then she noticed that it was the tallest building in sight. She looked up to the top of the building. She attempted to determine how tall the building really was, and how far she'd be able to see once they were at the top of it. "I haven't seen a town from above. Is that something you normally do?" she asked Soren. She thought she heard him cough, but dismissed it. It happens from time to time, and didn't bother her if he did.

Percy was surprised at Milli appearing, he was the last person Percy would have expected. "Hehe, well I kind of need this time to think. You don't know how hard it was to reach some of you guy. Some were physically challenging while others... others were emotional torture." Percy smiled at Milli. "As for the ship... you'll find out tomorrow. And this place... this placed was picked for a reason. We may be going to get our captain back, but we still help those who need it. This town apparently has been getting attacked by something early in the morning. I picked this place so we can stop whatever is attacking this place." Percy got off the railing and started pacing. "Although letting them drink might have been a bad idea now that I think abut it."

Soren turned to seoul when she asked do you do this much. He turned to he and told her that it was something he use to do as a child and enjoys doing it in town like this one so in short yes. He started to acending the building hopeing she would follow for what he found as a magical veiw that only a select few knew about. He reached the top before her and laid down. He let ot another cough. He thought to himself he really need to have picked up the medicine insted of buying gun powder. He leaned over the side and yelled" if you don't hurry up you're going to miss it if you don't hurry up." he laid on the roof looking out at the vast city and how peaceful it looked now.

Seoul first watched as Soren ascended the building. When he was already half way to te top, Seoul began to ascend it herself. She gave no verbal response to Sorens words when he reached the top of the building himself, she only paused a moment to look at him. When she reached the top, she laid down next to him, looking out over the town. She had to admit that it looked beautiful. "I wish I could have spent more time doing this as a child. Maybe if I didn't have this curse, I could have known this longer." In her eyes, a tear formed. It didn't fall, rather, it clung to her, as if the water were attempting to console her.

Milli could do nothing but laugh as he heard of the true reason why they were here. What Kurisama logic if he ever heard it. Because yes that is what we are supposed to do as pirates, save people. This made Milli think about how initially was ready to do so much wrong doing when he agreed to join the crew and how elated he was when none of the wrong doing ever happened. Pirates are known to plunder and steal, which happened but they raided long forgotten temples and stole from the most corrupt characters. These were some interesting pirates. It is was only natural that Percy would follow in his pseudo-fathers footsteps. Milli even laughed as Percy's pacing is in similar footwork to that of the soon to be returned Captain's.

" Why do you worry? You have more than enough efficient manpower at your disposal. Tobias, Leila most like are not partaking because they choose seclusion. I doubt the two ninjas socialize because they are ninjas, we can always trust young Sharon to do the right thing, of course there is myself which should require no explanation, and yourself. All of us with our combined years of training should be more than enough to defeat any foes that dares come between us. Hopefully it isn't a set of regenerating zombies.' Milli tried to crack a joke but maybe it was too soon for that. He quickly made a mental note to study comedy and become more efficient at joke telling.

Percy, knowing that Milli was not the joking kind, gave a pity laugh. "Well we'll see if we have the manpower for tomorrow." Percy said as he began to walk away. "I'm going to bed, you should get some rest as well."

Next day...
The sun barely began to shine its light on the town when a deep fog began to shadow the town. Most people were still sleeping, even some of the crew. Since they didn't know the ship the crew slept in inns all over town. The slowly crept in form the ocean, covering the entire town within a matter of minutes. Percy was already awake when this happened, do to him expecting this. He made his way to the top of the ship and tried to look around. "Dam it, i can barely see hand out in front of me." he complained. He made his way off the ship onto the port, where to fog still lingered. "I hope I didn't get us over our head. He began to look around, trying to find the cause of this fog, it was unnaturally thick. That is when he heard boxes being moved. He could see what was making that noise, but decided to follow it. As he got closer to the noise he could make out a shadow, but that is all. "Alright, show yourself!" Percy commanded. Then another noise of boxes moving was heard behind him, the next. Somethign was trying to steal all the boxes that were filled with food. "I said reveal yourself!" Percy commanded, probably waking up some people nearby.

With that what looked like a pincer hit Percy's chest knocking him to the ground. "What the heck was that?" Percy mumbled as he got up. "Alright, just remember you started this." Percy said as he unsheathed one of his swords. He ran toward the shadow and did a jabbing motion with his sword. He felt he hit something, but his sword merely bounced off. Although the poison from his sword did start the destroy the cells. The shadow gave one sweep of it pinsir missing Percy, but creating enough wind to clear alittle of the fog in that area. The revealed what the shadow was, some sort of crab monster standing 7 ft tall. Percy knew that there was more of these, so he around the port and started knocking anything he could down. Trying to make as much noise as possible to wake up some of his crew.

Seoul, who had chosen to sleep at the port, grabbed Percy by the ankle, and dragged him behind a pile of boxes. "Alright," she said in a not-so-sweet voice, "What's going on here?" She glared at Percy, trying to decide wether or not she believed he had planned whatever was going on. Though she had always been a light sleeper - a trait that had often saved her life - she still didn't like the fact that she had been woken up by the sounds of boxes crashing to the ground, only to find the man who was supposed to be her captain running around like a mad man. "You have exactly ten seconds to make up for waking me to the circumstances."

As Michael trudged away from the meeting place, he grew slightly more content and resolved. He knew that he could never go through the Heart break of losing his father again, and he had almost gotten over the grief and the torment, the mourning about lost souls. But the chance that he could get his father back - that slim chance that they could do the impossible and bring a dead man to life - that was worth it. Gambles were what life was all about, and this Gamble had an awfulling nice prize.

"I have to go through with it." Michael muttered, as he knocked into a large man passing by. The man turned around, anger in his face, and seemed as if he was looking for a fight. The common vein in the neck pulsed violently, and the man was a dangerous shade of purple, the colour of a man after a feud. But something about Michael's expression seemed to scare him off - that and the weapons. Michael shrugged and moved on, walking further into town.

He reached a small weapon's shop, where he bought a small, waterproof bag and some spare gunpowder for his flintlock, alongside a particularly decorative knife, though dangerous looking and handy too. It had a small hook of sorts on the pommel of the hilt, around which a thin wire was wrapped. "Interesting." Michael muttered, as he handed over a small collection of gold and silver coins, going over the price by quite a bit.

He studied the knife for a while, testing its quality, before sheathing it and hooking it too his belt. Tired and annoyed of the town's noise, he started to leave for the outskirts, night falling as he walked. He exited the town onto some small outcropping of land, a sharp point where it turned into a cliff, the lake down below. It was a nice place to sight see, and down below Michael could see Leviathan resting along the Lakebed, the water was that clear. Michael smiled, contented, and layed back his head to rest. He was happy now, returning to where he belonged. A pirate was what he was born to be, and he would become one once again.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Michael woke up early in the morning, as usual, and as he sat up the moon was still the predominant body in the sky, the sun's rays barely peaking over the horizon. He smiled and stood up, moving along to the edge of the cliff, peering down at the still sleeping figure of Leviathan. Or, at least, he was going to. He couldn't see Leviathan; in fact, he couldn't see the lake. Even the floor itself was blurry. The sky was faded, and a Mist enveloped it. It came rather quickly, it seemed, for not a moment ago he had been able to look straight at the stars easily.
He was tempted to shout out to Leviathan, but decided against it. It was obvious that this was no natural fog, and he didn't want to alert anyone who was using it. Instead, he leapt off of the Cliff, performing a perfect and almost silent 'plop' into the lake below, the depth of which he was able to tell the previous night. The water was mercifully clear, and Michael could see for a while in it. But what he saw wasn't comforting. There were groups of Crab-like creatures crawling along the lake floor, all aimed for the Town. They easily towered above him, and each of their claws looked capable of tearing him in half.
Luckily, he was still unnoticed, and Leviathan was inconspicuous as he slept. Michael swam down to Leviathan slowly and woke him carefully, taking caution not to alert the Crabs or Panic Leviathan. As Leviathan woke, Michael silently directed him to a hidden shoreline around the side of the town, which Leviathan moved to, breaking the surface so as to allow Michael to breath.
"Stay low. Hide around the Harbour and docks. I'll signal you when I need you." Michael whispered, before moving towards the centre of the town, the streets barely visible in the mist. He kept one hand on his sword at all times, prepared for any attack.
Milli could theoretically be seen walking towards the docks on the peer as the fog crept in. He had gotten more than enough sleep to prepare for this mysterious attack that his crew was reunited for. Of course he didn't know what he was up against but he was ready for combat.
"Why is fog creeping in so early in the morning the conditions should not be met such weather." As Milli kept walking he could hear clicks and ticks all around him. Well clearly these were not human footsteps but it did sound like movement. The shadow of a pincer came to strike Milli from the side but as the swung was complete Milli seemed to disappear in the fog. It was a group of three crab monsters and Milli had appeared behind them. In actually he noticed the giant pincer's shadow and back peddled behind the beast. Once you eliminate all useless and extraneous movements you appear slightly faster to the untrained eye. Milli looked at his new crab like opponents and somewhat marvelled at the oddities.
"So we are being attacked by food? Odd I know of the recipe I would use with your meat but I cannot be for certain if your origins stem from of enhancement or are you naturally this big. Hopefully its the latter because then you are edible and I would gander your meat is succulent." The beast proceeded to just attack Milli. For the time being he would just dodge these initial attacks and serve as adequate warm-up exercise for the most efficient fighter is a prepared one.
After leaveing Seoul at the docks, Soren went back in to town to talk to the merchant he had gotten the apples from. When he finally rached th merchant he was packing up. Soren asked him were he was going the merchant said he was going to his home here in town. Tehe kiold merchant offered Soren a place to sleep that night and soren acceped his kind offer. The next morning Soren sliped out of the Merchants house before he woke so the merchant wouldn't offer him any thing else. Soren felt like a burden as he was walking towards the dock carairing his gear. When he reached the dock a thick layer of fog appered. He tried to look through the fog but couldn't see a thingbut a dark figure in the distance on the dock. He had almost reached it when he heard a loud clanging going on he turn his attintion away from it for a second before he looked back at the figure which now had tried o attack him luckly he was able to dogde it attack. He fiered his blunderbuss at it which just bounced off the crab creatures shell.
"Urgh..."
Sharon awoke to a rumbling coming from outside of her room in the inn. She had retired early last night in order to get some magic practice in. The room showed only a few signs of it with various inscriptions stuffend in the trash and and a smell of charcoal in the air. Not to say she didn't enjoy the night with her mates; she didn't mind the company, better than being alone, and much better than those guys back at NAM. Still, she needed to stay diligent if she was to be useful in this journey.
And today, her training would be put to practice. After quickly getting dressed, Sharon gathered her things, sheathed her blades, and flew down the stairs to the lobby. The clerk at the desk spotted Sharon and called out to her.
"It's dangerous outside," she said. "A messenger came by and told us to stay inside."
"Did he say what was happening out there?" Sharon replied looking outside. It was really foggy. Strange.
"No, miss. But he did say to stay alert, so I was going to wake the other guests so we could move to the basement."
Sharon thought for a minute about helping, but shook her head. "Do that. I will go and find out what is going on." Before the clerk could reply, Sharon was out the door.
Once outside, Sharon ran straight for the docks. As she neared it, she was able to make out two shadows. One was clearly a person, but she did not know what to make of the other one. It stood on six... no four stubby legs, and had two oversized pincers for arms. It had features of a crab, but it was way too large for any crab she is familiar with. As she crept closer she heard the familiar sound of a rifle shot. It was Soren!
Sharon quickly moved in, taking her place next to Soren.
"Are you okay?" she asked while looking at the the shape of the creature, and the way it moved. "I am going to try something," she said her, a white light appearing at the end of her pinky finger. "Could you distract it for a bit?"
As Percy ran through the port he was grabbed be the ankle and tripped. He was then pulled in by whatever grabbed him. Percy was about to slash, but he soon realized that it was Seoul. “You got to be careful. This fog almost made me cut you in two.” Percy managed to say before Seoul interrupted. “Well I’ll explain later, for now I will say that some crab monsters appeared on the port, looking for food most likely. And they are kind of attacking all living things.” Percy stood up and began to run into the fog, to fight more of those crab monsters, but before he disappeared into the fog he told Seoul “By the way, their exterior is really really tough, so… good luck.
“It’s peaceful isn’t it” Dean spoke, having his arm over Julia’s shoulder. “And were alone so you can actually show your affection for me, which is rare to see.”
“Oh shut up” Julia responded with a big smile. “But this view is beautiful, I really like it.”
“Well this is ruined.” Dean said as he saw the fog rolling in. “So much for our morning walk…” Dean then saw shadows within the fog. “What the heck are those?” Then one of the crabs reached out with his claw and grabbed Dean, beginning to crush him. Julia quickly responded and stuck her sword between the pincers, slowly opening them up enough for Dean to be released. “This is why you should always have your weapons with you.” Julia said as they began to run away. While running through the fog the saw Milli fighting some and decided to join. Dean jumped onto the crabs back, which began to flail around violently. Julia simply went next to Milli and took a defensive position. “You don’t know what going on by any chance.”
"Typical," Seoul said aloud after Lercu had disappeared into the fog. She looked around, not being able to very far, but making out silhouettes in the fog. "And not a shadow to be seen. All that leaves for me to use is these daggers. And apparently, they have a really hard outter shell. That makes things much more difficult than they really need to be." Seoul ran into the fog, trying to formulate a plan while looking for a creature. She figured it'd be really stupid to fight one without a plan, but even more stupid to make a plan without having some idea of what they look like. Then she spotted one. She couldn't see any cover, so she knelt down low, hoping teh didn't spot her, and that they wouldn't step on her in the process of not seeing her. "Every armor has a chink. I just need to find yours, she whispered.
Crashing was heard in the fog, followed by monstrous screams of pain and anguish, then there were cracking noises, which once again was followed by more screams. Milli had been at work preparing the first meal for the crew. How lucky he was that the food came to him and he didn't have to was time buy paying for fresh crab meat. The scene looked gruesome as Milli was seen looking over one of the crab beast that he managed to completely tear in half thanks to the chimera cloth. the beast was dead and Milli used the cloth to decapitate it as somewhat of a mercy killing but there it was nonetheless. A treasure trove of Crab meat.
"Excellent, the only thing left to do now is to check of poisons or magic. Hmm speaking of magic I hope Percy doesn't kill to many of them, his blades will certainly taint the meat so that it is inedible." As he was talking to his cloth which was in his hand and floating around him acting as some form of barrier one of the crab beast that he had tossed into a run down store had crawled out and stepped over the second creature that just laid on the ground lifeless with a hole where its face should be. "The most efficient method of eating crab legs is to break the legs apart from the joints and suck the meat out. Its quite delicious." He said to the beast wondering if he could understand the human language. It appeared as though it could not or it did not care about the words Milli had to say, no matter death was imminent and like most creatures it will succumb to being food as is inevitable fate of the food chain. Milli used one about 2 m of his cloth to bind the creatures massive upper body he then used another meter to make a spear and smash its legs. With the creature being unable to walk Milli found a random agar and stuck it through the creatures brain killing it but preserving the meat inside its shell.
He looked up and noticed that there was more crab monsters coming which was great since the three he had most likely wouldn't be enough to feed such a massive crew, and it would be horribly unwise to pass up this opportunity to get free food. As he was about to engage in combat he noticed a figure come to his side and take a defensive stance. It was Julia, part of the navigating lovers combo, her stance had improved remarkably over these last two years but nonetheless the time to marvel and exchange pleasantries would come later. "Well it seems as if our new captain picked this beautiful location not simply based on its beauty, we are here to help rid these people of their crab problem. I only heard of this battle just last night at our reunion. But it is not something that proper strategy and efficient planning handle."
He looked as Dean had caused the crab to flail violently. "Ah clever, and that tactic makes it easier to do this.." Milli thrust his arm shooting his cloth at the beast and in mid flight the cloth contorted into a spear and ran pierced through the beast mouth and came out the back end thus the beast fell lifelessly to the ground and Dean with it...comically of course. Milli then used his cloth to lift the beast off of Dean and threw it in a pile with the others.
"When fighting creatures with exoskeletons you have to aim for the only soft parts of the body. It makes killing them so much easier. Your lance Dean, if you still wield it, would be perfect for this task. I suggest you two go and find some of the other members of our crew and assist them, with this dense water vapor I am sure the desert king is going to be at disadvantage, along with the sand user, and with there being no visible shadow I can see Seoul having problems as well." He said as he made his was to confront more crab beast the crew will have a plethora of crab meat to dine on. "I think I will leave some for the town as well, I did eat their only supply of Leviathan meat, and it was what the Captain would have done."
"Hm, basically they're giant crabs. Sort of," she whispered, drawing her daggers. "It's just too bad there aren't any shadows!" she yelled out as she ran toward the great crab beast. The beast swung its large claws at her, and she ducked below them to dodge. She jumped as hard as she could, thrusting the dagger at the joint in the one of the legs. The dagger missed its mark, nicking the leg in the wrong spot. She had to jump back to avoid the claw again. She aimed for the joint in the leg again, his time slicing the leg off the beast. Unable to keep its balance, it fell to the ground. "Well, you're a magnificent beast, aren't you?" Seoul asked, looking per her shoulder. "I wonder, where is that chef? If I remember, he had a cloth that could slice you open."
Soren was shocked that the shot had just bounced right off the cab creatures shell. He doudged anther swing of its claw before Sharon arrived. He looked over at her when she asked was he okay. He answered yea i'm fine before looking back at the creature. He smiled when Sharo asked him to cause a distration, " That I can do." He said before jumping over the crab figure and drawing his blade. He caught the crabs attintion whith a slash on the back of it. the crab creature turned around and used its claw as a hammer only hitting an illusion before it recived a shot to the face from sorens rifle.
Sharon nodded in response to Soren and began running forward towards the monster. The crab monster had initially noticed her, but as she ran by, Soren had struck the back of the creature with his blade. As expected, the crab turned its attention to Soren instead. As she ran by the monster, the light on her pinky transferred to her pointing finger, which she pointed towards the ground as she ran, leaving a trail of light on the ground. She continued to circle the monster, as it seemed to attack the air behind her, it didn't seem to be specifically targetting her, so she paid it no mind. She soon completed a lap around the creature; the circle of light that surrounded the crab was proof of that. And with that circle in place, there was one more thing Sharon needed to do.
With a simple flick of her wrist, the light on her finger faded, and a satisfying *SHHINK* noise filled the air. The mist proved useful, amplifying Sharon's magic to the point where the ground inside the circle of light was now magically fortified ice. And with the well-timed shot to the crab creature's face by Soren, the creature lost balance and fell on its back. With its large arms, it did not seem that it would be getting up anytime soon.
"This should make it easier to handle, I think," Sharon said, drawing her flame sword from its scabbard. Fighting crab monsters was foreign to her, but she figured a clue would show up at some point.
"Hmmm... I wonder where he could be," Seoul said aloud, looking around through the fog. She saw silhouettes of the crab creatures, and occasionally thought she saw human shapes. Apparently she wasn't the only crewmember who was fighting against the crab creatures. "Well, I guess I could always make a scene and hope the guy shows up." With that, she ran to find another creature to fight. She jumped and slashed at the joint of a second creature, only to be knocked to the ground by a third, which she hadn't seen. "So much for this being easy," she said, rolling out of the way and jumping back into the fight.
The fog was still surrounding the area and hindering the efficiency of only the humans for some magical reason. Milli however was not effected by the low visibility. He has cooked in some of the most extreme and random conditions, a couple of which of course being low visibility. He was worried about the navigators, who he sent back home to get Dean's Lance and assist some other members of the crew. They might not fair as well as he but then again these beast were simple so everyone should relatively be fine. Milli proceeded to walk down the docks and as he saw the silhouettes of the crab monsters he could see the silhouettes of their human opponents, most likely his fellow crew mates. In the distance he saw a bright blue light shine followed by a feint noise like a blade has just been drawn. He lifted up his hand and felt the air get colder and he pieced everything together.
"Oh is this Ms. Sharon's magic? Hmmm crab ice cream...interesting."
Milli walked onward having faith in Sharon's skills and ability to hold her own in combat. As he proceeded he stumbled on another shadow in the mist and it was clearly a crab creature. Milli was somewhat annoyed with these beast. Simply killing them would have been easy, but to kill them without damaging the quality of the copious amount of crab meat inside and not destroying the town in the process required just a little more effort. Not a lot more effort but why work when you don't have too it would be most efficient to conserve energy. As he looked onward he saw that they shadow crab was moving around, most likely a symbol of combat against another member of the crew. As he looked at the thin shadow it moved like a ninja but the two ninjas have bigger body masses and they wouldn't be having trouble with beast like this so it had to be.
"Seoul?" He said out loud hoping for a satisfactory response at that moment she was struck by another crab beast and landed right next to him. Of course she was too preoccupied to notice and the fog was dense. Nevertheless Milli was pretty impressed, what an efficient way to attack a basic two against one formation. As Seoul went back to jump into the fight she found herself wrapped at the waist by one end of Milli's cloth and he simply pulled her back. "Hello" he said kindly as he let her go. The crab beast were approaching and he loosely dropped one end of his cloth off a ledge that he and Seoul happened to be close to and he smirked as his cloth touched the water. "Oh this is going to get messy." The hyper growth feature of the cloth activated and it the frilly tassels on the non-submerged shot at the creatures and slowly grew into giant vines. The vines over took both creatures and had quickly rendered them immobile. Unfortunately it didn't stop there by feeding off the water in the lake and the water vapor in the air the cloth kept growing on the creatures similar to a tree taking root. Soon the creatures were unable to scream because their mouths and throats were full.
As Seoul and he were forced to watch such a vicious display he felt the need to explain himself to Seoul. "I know this looks rather cruel but this is the most efficient method of injecting flavor into the crab meat for our feast. Though I guess they are still alive and suffering. Perhaps you want to give them a mercy kill?" He then pulled out two spark rocks from his pocket the only thing they could do was make a small fire when they struck each other, not really useful for anything outside of a crude kitchen but they would prove most useful here. He struck both rocks together and they quickly caught on fire. As such he threw the rocks down in front of the crab beast and it the flame provided light which of course made...shadows. There were shadows on the ground, shadows against the wall of fog, and shadows against the encroaching tree like substance that was once Milli's cloth. "You should never be in a position where can't use your own abilities. If there are no clearly visible shadows around just make some" he said trying to act as a mentor to the newest member of the crew.
Seoul smiled when Milli enabled her to use her abilities. She ordinarily would haw felt bad for the two beasts being roasted alive, but they had just been trying to kill her, and that ruined any chances they had of sympathy. She was able to make out a couple more crabs not far away, and saw that the beasts were not only casting shadows due to the fire, but also seemed disoriented. "Well, as long as you've got his blaze going..." she stretched her own shadow toward the beasts, but failed to stretch it far enough to connect to them. With that, she began running toward them, Which caught their attention. The two beasts began moving toward her. The beasts were close enough to begin tryin to hit her with their claws, whih allowed her to disappear before the impact, and reappear directly behind them. Throwing her arms toward the creature's center, the shadows from the ground launched upward, although they simply pushed it upward. "That is some tough hide. I guess the joints are still the best way to go." She noticed another shadow appearing beneath her feet, just in time to transport behind the creature. She pushed herself with the shadow, the enhanced velocity moving her blades through the creature's leg joints far easier than her jumping could have. The first creature, she then noticed, had been moving toward Milli.
The crab beast who are now practically the base of a small tree were miraculously still alive. Such stamina perplexed Milli as he was simply watching Seoul do her thing. Her powers were slightly intriguing, being able to ride any shadow even it they weren't connected. Yet she is having such a hard time in this fight. Though that is logical with these beast and their highly effective method of combined offense and defense. Milli proceed call down branches from his cloth tree to add to the fire allowing Seoul's abilities to last a little longer. While he was adding his own make shift kindling would he was impressed that the firewood really did have a high burn rate. The cloth must have thought about this strategy ahead of time.
"Impressive..." he said to the tree forcefully injecting roast hickory flavor into the crabs "...this fire may even burn bright enough to act as a signal flare for the other crew members. I wish I could take credit for this."
The fire illuminated the fact that one of the crab beast was on its way to engage Milli in battle. His head tilted to the side as he let out a small sigh. He thought that Seoul could quickly dispose of those beast but it seems like one got away. "Oh to be young and have the luxury of wasting energy." The cloth-tree was about to react and slay the beast but Mill raised his hand and detained his creature. Though this wasn't the most efficient method of dealing with crab beast considering all of the tools at his disposal it was a rare opportunity to teach the young shadow rider a lesson about useless movements.
The beast attacked and though it looked like Milli was merely walking away he was actually dodging the attacks. Those massive swinging claws simply created a breeze for the old man. He made to a closed store and found a couple of butchers knives. He grabbed both and inspected the quality they were sufficient for lack of a better word. He walked outside and made eye contact with the bewildered beast. The beast quickly annoyed raised its mighty pincer and smashed it down upon the chef. Creating a small crater. Though the chef was no where to be found. Seoul must have watched as Milli seemed to just walk away from the beast back towards the fire to make sure it kept going. He sat on the ledge very relaxed as he seemed to be waiting for Seoul to finish up. The beast was offended and turned and charged with immense speed. Unfortunately it could only take about five of those tiny steps before his legs were fell off. Milli had delivered cuts to all of the legs throughout that long exaggerated pincer strike. The cuts weren't meant to sever the legs because there was no need. All that top heavy mass such small legs inertia and gravity alone would do all of the work for him. Clearly the most efficient method of dealing with the beast.
"Hmm sense the fire is here it would be best to wait for other. I guess a rest is not unheard of at this moment. Seoul be a dear and finish up quickly your shadow powers would provide a great defense." He then looked off the edge and saw as the cloth that was submerged in water had also taken root hopefully it could assimilate some underwater plant life and evolve further. He waited for Seoul to finish her opponent.
