Merci
Would we be able to stay low leveled, cause their are some really cool looking low-level monsters that I've never been able to use that I would love to use here.Well, of course~In terms of the YuGiOh Duel Monster RP: Would , eventually, their transformation/evolution be permanent in some cases? For example, say Gigobyte turning into Gagagigo(or whatever).I discussed this with Zai, and yeah, we agreed that this can be possible. For that RP...would the Transformation Summoning thing work around?I...think so? Technically, every summoning in the RP is a Transformation Summoning so there can't be much difference.
bury the year
I've been bouncing around a few ideas for a plot and characters, but I'd like to get a setting decided upon and I can't decide which one to use. i. A large ecumenopolis-esque urban agglomeration that reaches up like a tower, called (appropriately) "Babel." More cyberpunk/grunge. ii. A military spaceship, similar to those in Mass Effect. More space opera-themed. Which would people prefer to see more? Note that I won't have the actual roleplay up for a while.
Astolfo
Alright, I have a really fun idea for an almost sandbox action-centric RP, and it allows you to be whatever the f*** you want, angels, demons, vampires, werewolves, aliens, mecha pilots, you name it. There's very high level technology in addition to magic. Think Space Dandy combined with Noblesse, combined with Blood Lad and whatever else. I usually railroad my plots, but this time it's more open-ended, so it'll be a lot easier on me. Looking for a co-host or two or three, however, to handle the madness and be privy to plot details. The setting is Neo Tartarus, also known as the City of Dark Desire or the City of Eternal Night as the city is almost shrouded in darkness due to the fact that it is almost always raining during the day. It is a massive metropolis rife with corruption and crime located on the planet of Edelheim, which is dead centre in the trade routes of the Galaxy. The Galaxy is huge and there are countless different races, hence you can be basically anything you want. The Galactic Federation, which controls the Galaxy, is banned from entering the city or intervening on its matters, and wisely stays away due to the intimidating presence of the city's infinitely mysterious and elusive mayor and founder, Amadeus von Renzont Alucard, an immortal vampire with almost limitless power. This makes the city a prime spot for criminals to hide out and many bounty hunters also live here. The law is also very loosely enforced. There's plenty of other details and backstory I gotta write up about this city. Anyway, basically imagine stuff like the pictures in this album: http://imgur.com/a/GvsEB The entire city is governed by the City Council, headed by the intern mayor, a half-angel man by the name of Shen, while the city is controlled from the underground by the Mafia, currently lead by a werewolf named Raphael. The true leader of both is Alucard, but he hides himself away and only ever returns in the brink of time when the city is in a serious state of emergency. Now that the background details are out of the way, let's have a look at the plot. You are somehow involved with the White Knights, a vigilante and terrorist organization out to cause mayhem and destroy the Mafia. You may be hired by the White Knights as a mercenary or whatever. The opportunity for characters who are against the White Knights will only open up if there is sufficient interest, otherwise, you must be somehow an ally of the White Knights. The true underlying goal of the White Knights is to draw Alucard out into the open for whatever reason only known by the Chairman, an old multi-trillionaire cyborg who funds the organization. Along the way various random obstacles will pop up. Where the hell are these random dragons, archdevils, doomsday machines and etc. even coming from? I just get a slight Blueblood feel, but along with Fiore, and the plan to revive Blueblood, and this, which seems like it'll be a very wide RP (lots of different details/races/subplots), are you okay? Just asking. But damn, this is interesting. > any type of character > cyberpunk Count me in.
Super Chaos Sonic
Soooo...doing this for an interest check. Blame the fact that I've been watching too many of the episodes of different series...^^; A Kamen Rider RP...an actual Rider RP that will actually get into the IC and start (as a few others never did). Unsure of the actual premise of it yet, but I'm thinking of incorporating Jolta's original idea of an Academy with one motif being Rider Cards and Weapon Cards being inserted into a smartphone-esque Driver. All depends on how you would like it to go...IF you want it to go anywhere.

Barian Warlord
This might seems silly but has anyone considered a Red vs Blue RP? BANZAI!!!!
Been having a bit of a brainstorm today regarding ideas for a yugioh rp. As per usual with my ygo rps it'd be an alternate universe. This time around I'm planning on setting it in a dystopian/cyberpunk setting with some themes and terms borrowed from armored core for flavor. I've also devised a new summon mechanic for the rp that should be (hopefully) easy to comprehend to make things more interesting and tie into the plot some. Here are the particulars: The setting is comprised of a futuristic, blade runner-esque megacity police state controlled by constantly feuding mega corporations. Duel monsters has become the world's primary form of conflict resolution thanks to advances in solid-vision technology that allow for holograms powerful enough to cause real and lethal damage to be mass produced and widely available (with duelists often suffering serious injury or death). Cards are therefore considered weapons. The corporations are in a constant arms race, with each company trying to outdo the others by producing more powerful archetypes and cards. Each corporation is limited in this however, by its membership in a collective organization known as the League, which enforces a universal banned list and approves cards produced for circulation. The League is corrupt, and most companies get their cards pushed through by having sway over one or more league officials. Companies often employ mercenary duelists known as Ravens to advertize their cards, conduct clandestine actions against rival companies, and control the citizens in their company's territory by acting as a private police force. Ravens, and by extension the corporations themselves, are considered more or less above the law thanks to the immense political power of the corporations. Some Ravens work under a single company, utilizing decks composed of that corporation's cards, while others, known as Irregulars, offer themselves to the highest bidder, and are known for sometimes using decks comprised of multiple companies' cards. As a rule, Ravens are always equipped with more potent cards than an average citizen, with Ravens generally being the only duelists capable of possessing and utilizing full 15-card extra decks. Some of the more influential and experienced Ravens are even given license to use copies of certain banned cards, or possess unique cards. Needless to say, the current situation causes almost universal oppression of the common citizen, most of whom struggle to survive between the dog-eat-dog fight up the corporate ladder, collateral damage from duels, and the draconian laws imposed by corporate controlled police. As a result, a rebel group known as ORCA has been established, and has been recruiting citizens and Ravens alike to its cause. So far the corporations and the league are only vaguely aware of its existence, though it has recently become strong enough to begin conducting actions against the corporations. In the midst of all this, strange, blank monster cards have been appearing. Though initially inert, these cards activate in the presence of strong emotions, becoming Kai monsters based on cards in their owner's deck. Kai monsters are extremely powerful, and are coveted by duelists on all sides. Their origin is a mystery, but there is no doubt that they are strong enough to radically shift the balance of power.
The new summon mechanic I've devised for this RP concept. In-universe, Kai monster cards are red, but for simplicity's sake any that are made for the rp can just use the effect monster template in the card maker. The term Kai is a romanization of a japanese term that roughly translates to "Modified" or "Enhanced", and that's exactly what Kai monsters are: enhanced versions of existing monsters. Here is how they work. Kai Monsters are another variety of extra deck monster, and contribute to the 15-card limit in the extra deck. Like fusion monsters, they require a specific material, in this case a card with a specific name that is referred to as a "base monster". However, like synchro monsters, they also require at least one nonspecific material, in this case any monsters on your side of the field other than the base monster (they are referred to as "Kai Charges" in the card text of Kai monsters). To Kai summon a Kai monster from the extra deck, the base monster and at least the minimum number of Kai charges (collectively referred to as Kai materials) must be present on your side of the field. Both the base monster and the Kai charges are sent to the top of the extra deck for the kai summon, and the Kai monster is then special summoned. Unlike other extra deck monsters, Kai monsters cannot be special summoned except by Kai summon. When a Kai monster leaves the field, it is banished, and the base monster is then special summoned from the extra deck. The Kai charges, however, remain in the extra deck and are unusable (unless they are moved from the extra deck or happen to be pendulum monsters). Kai monsters always have the same level as their base monster. What makes Kai monsters unique and powerful is their Charge Bonus effect. A charge bonus is an additional effect that a Kai monster gains if at least a certain number of Kai charges were sent to the extra deck for its Kai summon. Charge bonuses are always written in Kai monsters' card text after their regular effects (if they have any) and are denoted by the text "Charge Bonus (Number): (effect)". For example, the charge bonus of the sample card, "Red-Eyes Alpha Dragon" reads "Charge Bonus 2: This card can attack twice during each Battle Phase." meaning that if 2 or more Kai charges were sent to the extra deck for the Kai summon of "Red-Eyes Alpha Dragon", it gains the effect written after the colon, in this case the ability to attack twice per battle phase. Here is a sample card:
Lore: "Red-Eyes Black Dragon" + 1 or more Kai Charges If this card battles a monster whose ATK is equal to or less than the ATK of this card, you can you can destroy the monster immediately with this card's effect without applying damage calculation, and inflict damage to your opponent equal to that monster's ATK. Charge Bonus 2: This card can attack twice during each Battle Phase.

That's the basic idea so far. thoughts/comments/opinions? Barian Warlord
Kai monsters kinda remind me of a mix of Synchro and Fusion monsters but that Charge thing is pretty interesting, I know I've seen cards with effects like it before but as far as a card type I think it could work perfectly well. I'm working on an Arc-V RP right now that I'm calling Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel School Rumble, in it I wanna focus on different duel schools fighting each other and subplots and different Summoning Methods. I don't want to sound rude, but why if the people of the world have developed a what could be a non-violent resolution to conflict, make it violent. It seems silly, this might just be me, but I don't think humans have a natural tendency towards violence, so I feel if governments found a way to non-violently resolve conflicts I'd think they'd use that (making the rules more Disboard-esque) instead of making it violent and life threatening. 2. As for the Kai summoning mechanic, it seems simple and cool, I'd just rather not learn a whole new mechanic for one RP to just never use it again. It just seems like a kind of turn off to me. Just my 2 cents though.

Just my 2 cents though. I mean, dueling is more or less already the primary form of conflict resolution in ygo anyway. In general, disputes in those continuities are solved by playing the card game. My general problem with this (and card anime in general by extension) is that if whatever issue you're dueling over is really important to you, than most logical people aren't going to be inclined to back down and forget it if they lose a harmless game. Combine this with the fact that holograms have been shown in ygo to be, in certain situations, dangerous, than it seems pretty logical to me that someone would weaponize it and that in a gritty and dark setting like this, it'd be commonplace. That said, i do see your point in that it does stretch suspension of disbelief some. As for Kai summoning, I felt like it would add flavor to the rp and give people a framework for trying new things and making new cards. Plus there's really nothing stopping anyone from using them again in other rps as long as those hosts are cool with it. I myself wouldn't mind, obviously. Barian Warlord
Thought of crossing YGO and NGNL but the problem is unless your a super genius you can't prove the enemy isn't using magic to either draw better cards or cheat in some other way, still I'd love to see it done. As for Zai's RP, obviously it is weird and doesn't make sense for a card game to govern peoples lives, unless of course they've been raised to think it is and adding the flair that it can do real damage makes it the same as any other form of violence used. Even if someone loses a duel that doesn't mean their scheming is over I mean just look at Vector.

Even if someone loses a duel that doesn't mean their scheming is over I mean just look at Vector. 1. Don't have magic/different races involved. Rather have a government agency who enforces a certain set of rules to the letter. Think of something like Teague (Jack's dad or whatever in Pirates of the Caribbean) who enforces the Code. 2. It's not really weird at all. Duel Monsters is basically a professional sport in the Yugi-verse, it's hardly weird for it to "govern people's lives", while maybe not to the degree shown in the show. Duel Monsters is basically like American football in the Yugi-verse, people go ape-shit bananas over it. It makes sense for humanity to seek out any sort of conflict resolution that isn't war. While yes, I do think it would be more believable for it to not be dangerous to duel, as like I said if humans found a non-violent way of conflict resolution I'm pretty sure they would try to keep it non-violent, it's not that out there for it to be developed into a form of war considering it probably has a smaller mortality rate than just flat out war. I mean, dueling is more or less already the primary form of conflict resolution in ygo anyway. In general, disputes in those continuities are solved by playing the card game. Like I said earlier you could make the rules of Dueling Disboard-esque, were losses are final and you must obey the winner's conditions, and if you don't the hammer will come down replacing Tet with a government organization. Lunar Origins
I'm not entirely sure how to explain this but I'm putting this here for future reference. It's a roleplay with themes about Chess and masks and whatnot, with power levels of the mask denoted by the tier it sits on, e.g. pawns are pretty shitty with high potential, rooks are good, bishops are sneaky, kings are weak with latent power and queens are just unstoppable. There would be, in total, 32 masks. Masks of the same type on the same side are identical; so, for example, three White pawns are identical to the remaining White pawns, and two rooks on one side are always the same. This leaves for 6 different unique masks and powers to a side, coming out to 12 total different powered masks in the entire game (6 different white masks and 6 different black masks). However, pawns are all slightly different from one another, and their power can be further unlocked by taking other higher pieces. It's still being fleshed out.

An example of this mask and a power it could bestow on someone is a White Rook mask. They are heavy, designed to incapacitate the wearer, obviously designed for some sort of prisoner. The rook is, ironically, a prisoner in of itself at the beginning of the game, needing the most investment in order to fully pull out. However, once they're out of their prison, the amount of pressure that a rook can put on the game is terrifying; that is what the mindset behind a rook's power would be. Aix
Us at Roleplay and Development have come to bring you a contemporary tale of dragons and magic, set in none other than modern day New York City. There was a time, when dragons roamed the Earth, living peacefully alongside humans. All things come to an end, however. No one could say which side started it. It could have been both at the same time, but a conflict broke out between humanity and dragonkind. The dragons were arrogant and disorganized, however, and fought amongst themselves, while the humans in their corporal weakness, learned wisdom and magic and, after a long war, triumphed, sealing the dragons away in another dimension where they slept for thousands of years. Flash forwards to the present, when magic and dragons have been reduced to naught but fairy tales meant to entertain children. In this transient universe, even the strongest magic stands not against the tests of time. The seal slowly began to crumble. Dragons, in their human forms, have began to appear all over the world, especially in areas where humans, their captors, are gathered. One of such great gatherings is none other than New York City. You are a dragon, arrived in New York City, or its outskirts, stark naked with arcane sigils marked across your skin, sealing your draconic form. How will you survive in this new world which you know nothing of? Meanwhile, in the shadows, an organization gathers. It has been waiting thousands of years for this moment, when the dragons have returned. With influence across the globe and in high places, they are relentless in their pursuit. Their goal is none other than to hunt the dragons who have escaped their ethereal prison. You, armed with nothing but your wits and your slowly returning draconic powers, are to face off the might of thousands of years of human advancement. In this RP you can be any sort of mythological Dragon, but you are forced to live amongst humans, for the time being at least. Will you attempt to live an ordinary life, or will you abuse your immense draconic strength? #modern fantasy #shonen

Chaotic Angel
So, I am thinking of making an RP that reimagines Ancient China completely. I've done something similar to this in the past, but believe it or not, it hasn't gone too well. So, what if I have made Ancient History collide into our time continuum? Here's a WIP summary: Ancient China collides into our time continuum, but unfortunately, there were consequences. There wasn't a single civilian in sight and businesses from around the present weren't open. This takes place initially somewhere in the near future, where the protagonists prepare for the worst case scenario, when the past collide with the present, hypothetically, what do you think will happen? So yeah, WIP right now, and this RP follows a completely different route. It would probably get people thinking: What if time didn't collide, would we have still been fighting for our lives, would the protagonists still live and would Ancient China be going to their own stuff historically? So what do you think? Should I add or take things away from the summary? Or maybe I get another part of Ancient History involved?
a bad post
Okay so I'm think about starting a Devil is a Part-timer RP: In a world parallel to our own a great war wages between the Armies of Hell, led by the Demon King Alucard, battle the forces of Heaven and Earth led by the Shining Hero, the Champion of Humans and regarded as the Hand of God. The fight over control for the Continent of Ente Isla a group of 5 islands which lies in the Ocean of Ignoria. Is this a story of Angels and Demons, you ask? Of Heroes and Villains? Of Glory and Honour? Of course not you fool! In the middle of the epic battle between the Hero and Demon King the massive amounts magical tension created by the large amounts of Holy Power and Impure Energy being used by the opposing forces causes a large portal to open dragging members of both sides into its dark depths. What horrible fate awaits them you might ask? Are they to rent to bits? Tortured for all eternity? Even worse than that! The portal tosses them into modern day Tokyo. A place were magic and demons are but stories of legend. Their transportation through the portal has caused them to lose nearly all their powers, and assume human forms. With no knowledge of their new environment, and no way to open another portal how will these formally mighty beings survive!? What do you guys think? Barian Warlord
I thought it might be cool to do a mix of Captain Earth Yu-Gi-Oh! where the Plant Gears have to duel in order to summon their KilltGangs and if they win that duel then something really bad will happen to the world but they need to be dueling someone with a large quantity of Orgone energy in order for it to work and those people are (naturally/acquire it from being) better duelists. I think the idea is similar to Dark Signers but as they only do really big damage when they win and not just from playing a single card it is more fair and also their awakening will be from dueling other Planet Gears. Does this seem like it could be an interesting idea or am I just crazy?
Aix
Pretty damn similar to Sigil, except without the action.
