Solitaire Archetype: The first cards of my Solitari

Recommended Posts

Well, I have always played the game Solitaire because of the sense just to pass time and to see how I can beat a single player card game. So, I decided that I wanted to make an archetype using the cards in a regular playing card deck. Well, I wanted to be more creative with names and stuff, so I basically used Google Translate to find words in other languages that appealed to me for the name of the cards. Well, this set is going to take a lot of time to finish and I have been relatively busy with my social life (yes everyone, I have one that doesn't involve Yu-Gi-Oh!), but I am going to post up some of the cards for one of my archetypes for this set.

The Piques Archetype

This is going to be the first archetype I will complete (since I started it already). The name Piques translates to "Spades," which is a suit in regular card-playing games. The term Spades usually represents bad luck and/or wrong-doing because it represents the evil within peoples' hearts. I looked up the general meaning of each individual card in the suit which inspires their effects. This archetype is a full WIND / Winged-Beast set that brings some for of bad luck to the user (discarding cards of your own, for example) but will bring great power after gaining a stable presence. I only have 5 cards and they are all monsters. I will present each card and its meaning.

Solitari - Dues of Piques
[WIND / Winged-Beast / Level 2 / ATK: 800 / DEF: 800]
When this card is Normal Summoned: Send 1 face-up card you control to the Graveyard (except this card). Once per turn: You can Special Summon 1 "Piques" or "Dues" monster (from your hand) other than "Solitari - Dues of Piques." It cannot declare an attack this turn and is destroyed during the End Phase.

Translates to "Two of Spades"

Brings separation after relationship

Solitari - Trois of Piques
[WIND / Winged-Beast / Level 3 / ATK: 1300 / DEF: 900]
If you control a face-up "Piques" or "Trois" monster: You can Special Summon this card (from your hand). If this card is Special Summoned with this effect: Discard 1 card. If your opponent controls 2 or Attack Position monsters: This card can attack your opponent directly.

Translates to "Three of Spades"

Brings separation to a relationship, using a third person

Solitari - Vier of Piques
[WIND / Winged-Beast / Level 4 / ATK: 1600 / DEF: 1200]
When this card is Summoned: Discard 1 card. While this card you control is face-up, your opponent cannot select another "Piques" or "Vier" monster you control as an attack target except "Solitari - Vier of Piques".

Translates to "Four of Spades"

Small or little worries or problems

Solitari - Kvin of Piques
[WIND / Winged-Beast / Level 1 / ATK: 500 / DEF: 0]
FLIP: Special Summon 1 "Piques" or "Kvin" monster from your hand or Graveyard. When this card is sent to the Graveyard after it was flipped face-up: Discard 1 card.

Tranlates to "Five of Spades"

Blessing in disguise; depression

Solitari - Enam of Piques
[WIND / Winged-Beast / Level 5 / ATK: 2100 / DEF: 1100]
You can Special Summon this card (from your Graveyard) by tributing 1 "Piques" or "Enam" monster you control. While this card you control is face-up during your opponent's Main Phase: You can Synchro Summon using this card and 1 "Piques" Tuner monster.

Translates to "Six of Spades"

Small changes/improvements

There will be many more to come, but I need your help by just telling me what you think of these cards so far. Good/Bad/Indifferent. Just let me know what you all see in these cards. I know I have very little but there will be many more when I have plenty of free time to make the rest of this archetype (at least). Thank you for all your constructive comments and suggestions :D.

OMG man! These are amazing! I love the in depth meaning and how they represent something which is used in real life. I also love how they ascend in various strengths. What's great about them is that they play off their own disadvantage, if you know what I mean. The only criticisms I have with them is one Trois's effect, when it states if the opponent controls 2 or more monsters than you. Are they separate, for instance if you had 2 and they had 2, could you Special Summon it? or does it imply that the opponent must have 2 MORE than you do, for instance if your field was empty.

The second is just grammatical - On Enam's effect about the Synchro Summon, you don't need to put this in. Because if there was this monster and a tuner on the field, you could easily tune it with this anyway since this card has no effect prohibiting it. Do you understand? This card doesn't need any special requirements or fulfillments to Synchro, as long as this is on the field with a tuner monster. If you DID want to have this sort of effect, you would use it on the Synchro monster.

You would say for example '1 "Piques" Tuner + 1 or more Non-Tuner Winged-Beast type monsters."

Well done, man! 10/10!

Thank you very much for your comments on these cards :D I greatly appreciate it.

On Trois' effect, I wanted it to be if your opponent has 2 more monsters than you do, but i guess i will change that effect to just having 2 ATK mode monsters since this archetype will swarm (in time) and it really isn't that helpful to the set in general but I wanted it to be unique to match the real card meaning.

For Enam, I wanted it to kinda act like a Formula Sychron where I could Synchro during my opponent's turn. But because of the confusion, I will change it shortly.

Again, thank you for your thoughts and there will be more to come :D.

EDIT: Changed Trois' effect. Soon to change Enam's.
