Force Palm!” A man with a dark blue cloak, who seemed to be in his late teens, though his hood covered his face, stood inside a circle of people. A few meters in front of him was a large man with a sailor suit. Between them, stood a Riolu, and a Makuhita. As the cloaked trainer shouted, the Riolu dashed forward. “Makuhita, don’t let him get to you. Use Vital Throw!” Makuhita stepped forward, and tried to grab Riolu, but it ducked under Makuhita’s arms, and jammed his palm onto Makuhita’s gut. The force of the impact sent Makuhita flying a couple of feet, before he fell on his back. The impact also sent a small gust of wind, that revealed part of the cloaked teen’s face. Blue hair partly covered his left eye, but his golden irises could still be seen below his hood. He smirked a bit. “Nice job, Issun,” he muttered. “That’s the tenth one today. The people in this cruise aren’t any match for you.” Issun took a look at the Makuhita, then walked back towards his trainer. The cloaked teen knelt down and patted him on the head. “What a waste,” a trainer with a red and black cap lowered over his eyes muttered to himself, from the corner. “Battling weak trainers like that, you’d never get anywhere, right, DL?” A Sneasel that was next to the man smirked, and nodded. “Snee.” The trainer raised his cap slightly, revealing the bangs of black hair on his forehead, ánd his red eyes, and looked at Sneasel. “You’re still weak, don’t go getting all confident. Next time you lose a battle, you’re not getting another chance, you hear?” Sneasel looked at his trainer for a moment, then turned away, his gaze slightly lowered. “Wasn’t that battle awesome, Ria? Especially the Hariyama!” A young girl with short brown hair and a small yellow dress said, hugging her Cottonee tight, as she and her sister sat together on a bench. Her twin tilted her head. “Are you kidding me, Mia? The Riolu was so much better.” “Hmm, but, that can be debated,” Mia said. “I mean…Fighting types are super-effective against water, right?” “…Who was the water type?” “Riolu’s water type, isn’t it? I mean…it’s blue.” Ria sighed, with a smirk. “I think we should…get some sleep. Isn’t that right, Sleepy?” She looked down at her Sentret, and petted it. Sentret smiled, in response, and softly wrapped its tail around her arm. She wrapped her arms around it, and stood up, then headed off. “Renji,” Mia said, resting her head on Cottonee. “Am I a bad trainer?” Suddenly, the boat shook. Mia was almost knocked off of her chair. Renji escaped from her grip, looking around as he floated in the air. He tapped Mia with his leaf, and pointed to the people running. “W-what? You want to go to the bathroom?” Renji sighed, and dashed towards the upper deck. Mia gasped, and followed him. “Wait up, Renji!” Once Mia was up at the top deck, she saw that everyone else that was on the cruise seemed to be gathered there. The ship captain was standing on a platform, with a megaphone. “Calm down, folks! It’s just a storm. We’ll ride it out, no problem. This cruise liner can tank basically any wave! Come on, ocean, show us what you got!” DL and his trainer stood far away from the podium, near the edge of the boat. “What an idiot…but, in this storm, we might be in trouble. If you hadn’t been up all night, we would have been able to get on the previous cruise, and we wouldn’t be going through this,” he said, glaring at DL a bit. DL looked downward, clenching his teeth. “Hey, are you sure you should be treating your Pokemon like that?” The red-eyed trainer looked to the side, to see the cloaked trainer, leaning on the wall. “Is that any of your business?” the red-eyed trainer asked. “You should treat your Pokemon with respect. Only then, will they reach their maximum potential.” The red-eyed trainer scowled a bit, and stood up. “You looking for a battle?” “If a trainer such as you can even provide me with enough of a challenge for it to be called one,” the cloaked trainer said, smirking. The red-eyed trainer got ready to battle, when suddenly, the ship rocked violently. Everyone looked to the right side of the ship, at the ocean. Near them, closing in, was a behemoth of a wave. Most people screamed, others tried to rush downstairs. The cloaked trainer’s eyes widened a bit. “That can’t be good…” “Damn it all, what sort of ocean is this?” the red-eyed trainer scoffed. “Renji…” Mia murmured, whimpering as she hugged him tight. Ria had her hand on her shoulder, as they both crouched on the ground, in the corner, as the wave closed in. “It’ll be fine, Mia…” she said, despite the fact she had tightly shut her eyes, holding Sleepy with her other arm, close to her. Sleepy frowned, uneasy, squirming a bit as the wave closed in. Then, it happened. The wave crashed down into the boat, smashing it with brute force. It shook severely, slowly tipping over by the sheer might of the wave. All the passengers slid to one side of the boat, gripping on for dear life. Then, the boat gave in, and capsized. The passengers all struggled, in the stormy sea. Those who had water Pokemon were the lucky ones, who escaped on their Pokemon. The others, struggled to find something to hang onto. DL struggled, swimming wildly, and looking around. “Snee…” He gasped a bit as he saw his trainer’s cap, floating in the water. It slowly got consumed by the tides. He clenched his teeth, and swam toward it as much as he could, but the tides tired him, and he began to lose consciousness. ________________________________________________________________________ DL slowly opened his eyes. He sat up, and looked around, his paw on his forehead. “Where…am I?” A few yards away from him, he saw a Cottonee, wet, and unconscious. He stumbled over to him, and poked it with his claw. It shivered, and jumped up, floating in the air. “W-what do you think you’re doing?” the Cottonee exclaimed, shaking its leaves. “I was seeing if you were alive, so I could ask you if you knew where I was.” “Umm, I don’t really know. I lost consciousness, and-” By the time he was saying this, DL had already begun walking away. “Alright, then you’re useless.” The Cottonee flapped its leaves again, and began floating after DL. “Wait, don’t leave me alone here! I just want to find my trainer. Can you help me do that?” “If there are no females involved, I don’t give a crap.” Cottonee blinked. “Well…my owner’s a female. And…my owner’s sister has a female Sentret.” DL raised an eyebrow, and turned his head a bit. “So…what did you say your name was?” Cottonee sighed. “I’m Renji. What about you?” DL looked at him for a bit, then turned and started walking off again. “Let’s get going, Renji.” Issun laid on the sand, unconscious, for several hours. Then, his eyes suddenly snapped open, and he jumped up to his feet, looking around. “What happened? I…how did I get here?” he muttered to himself. “I remember the shipwreck, but…” “Hello.” Issun quickly spun around, at the voice, to see a Sentret balancing herself on her tail. “Who are you?” “I’m Sleepy,” the Sentret said, smiling a bit. “No, not in that sense. My trainer named me that.” “I…see. Where is this place?” Issun asked. “That is a good question,” she muttered, with a small giggle. “I have…no idea. Should we take a look around?” “…Wouldn’t it be more productive to find a way out of here, rather than to go exploring? Of course…if we go looking around, we might find my trainer. Alright, I’ll play along.” “Well, if we’ll be traveling together, I should know your name, right?” “I’m Issun. Of course, I don’t expect we’ll have to search for long,” he said, sniffing the air a bit. “I just need to get a trace of his scent, and we’ll be on our way.” After walking along the shore, they saw what looked to be two Pokemon. As they approached them, however, Sleepy gasped. “Renji!” she called out. Renji, at that point, had been gathering rocks into the shape of a giant “HELF”, as DL sat back in the sand, arms behind his head, sleeping. When Renji heard Sleepy, he turned around, with watery eyes, and floated toward her, hugging her. “Sleepy! I’m so glad you’re okay!” he exclaimed, his eyes glistening. “I’m okay, yeah,” she said, a small smile on her face. “I’m glad you are too. But…what are you doing?” “W-well, I met DL, the Sneasel over there, and he said he’d help me find you, Mia, and Ria. Then, he just told me to put a bunch of rocks in place to say ‘HELP’ so they would come to us, and laid back on the sand.” Sleepy raised an eyebrow, looking at DL. “Oh, did he?” Issun crossed his arms. “So we’ve found someone you know, it seems?” “Yeah,” Sleepy said, turning her attention away from DL. “This is Renji. He’s owned by my owner’s twin. As for the other one…he seems to be someone Renji met.” Issun nodded. “So I guess we’ve formed a sort of makeshift search party…alright, so what we have to-” Before he could finish, his eyes widened, and he dodged to the side, just in time for a rock the size of his head to pass by the area he was standing at a second previously. He spun around, to see a group of four Timburrs, and a Gurdurr. “What’s the big idea?” Issun asked, getting into a fighting stance. “That’s what we should ask you,” the Gurdurr said, smirking. “This is our turf, you know? Visitors without a direct invitation aren’t exactly welcome.” “If it’s a fight you want, you got it!” Issun dashed forward, easily running past the Timburrs, and shoved his palm at Gurdurr. However, Gurdurr tanked the attack easily, and punched Issun in the face with momentum, sending him flying back. He fell on his back with a grunt, and sat up, shaking a bit. “So, you still eager to fight?” Gurdurr said, chuckling.

Chapter 2: The Island Issun got up, staggering slightly. Gurdurr smirked, and pointed his Girder at Issun. “You’re a thousand light years too early to be challenging me. My boys are enough for the lot of you.” Issun blinked. “I…did you just imply that light years are a measure of time? I…never mind. I can take your ‘boys’ with my hands tied behind my back. Hell, with my feet tied behind my back too.” “Oh yeah? Alright boys, show them a world of hurt,” Gurdurr said, smirking. The four Timburrs started walking toward the group, devilish smiles on their faces. Issun turned to Sleepy. “Hey, do me a favor. Splash that Sneasel’s face with water. We might as well match their numbers. And it’ll give you guys something to do while I beat my designated fodder opponent, and move onto that other bastard.” Renji floated up a bit, flapping his leaves. “And what should I do?” “You just…do what you need to do,” Issun said, then turned his attention to the Timburrs, slowly approaching them. Sleepy approached DL, who was fast asleep. She poked him with her tail, but he didn’t move. “Hmm…” she muttered, pondering. “Well, guess it can’t be helped.” She slowly moved her tail upward, and rubbed her tail on his nose, then stepped back. Sneasel convulsed a bit, then sneezed. He sat up, alarmed and looking around. He raised an eyebrow at Sleepy, when he saw her smirking a bit. “What’s so funny?” he asked. “So, feeling sleepy, huh?” she said, smiling a bit. “Well, we’re kind of being attacked, so…you might want to wake up.” Sneasel stood up, and smirked. “Anything for a cute Sentret such as yourself, missy. So, who‘s my prey this time?” He glanced over the small group of Timburrs, and blinked. He sat back down, and laid on the sand. “Yeah, screw that.” Sleepy frowned. She opened her mouth to say something, then turned away, toward the Timburrs. “Fine. I’m sure the rest of us can do this…” she muttered. Issun was already fighting a Timburr. The Timburr threw a kick at Issun, who jumped above the kick, and slammed the Timburr in the face with his palm. It flew back, and fell to the ground. It got back up, but Issun dashed forward at a high speed, and punched it in the face, knocking it against a tree. The Timburr fell to the ground, its conciousness gone. Another Timburr had gone off toward Renji. It lunged at his face, and Renji barely managed to float to the side in time to avoid it. The Timburr turned around, and swept at Renji sideways with his piece of timber. It smacked Renji straight into a tree, with a slight grunt. After the shock faded, Renji shut his eyes, and dashed inside a nearby bush. “I can’t…beat those guys. They’re fighters, and I only know life inside the mansion…” The Timburr turned toward the bush, ready to chase Renji out of it, when he received a palm strike to the side of the head, sending him flying a few feet. Issun landed on the ground, after the aerial palm strike he just did, and looked at the bush. “Don’t worry about not coming out. These guys are a piece of cake, so I think I’ll just take them all on by myself,” he said. As he said this however, he saw that Sleepy was engaged in a battle with the third Timburr. The Timburr swung at her over and over, but she swerved his attacks, and then finally tackled him down. She leaped off of him, as he got up to try and counter-attack, and then she began swiping rapidly at him, leaving various scratches on him. He grit his teeth, smirking, however, and Sleepy barely managed to step back in time to avoid a pound, but she lost her balance and fell back. “Think that’s enough to take me, eh?” he said, and brought his fist back, closing it tightly. “Well, think again.” He moved to swing at Sleepy, but suddenly gasped his eyes wide, and fell down to his knees, then on his side. DL stood behind the fallen Timburr, his arms crossed. “Are you alright?” “I’m fine…but why did you suddenly decide to help?” Sleepy asked. “I was just waiting for an opportune moment,” DL said, shrugging. “These guys might pose a challenge if I fight them one on one. However, I would never leave a damsel in distress.” Sleepy raised an eyebrow, as DL helped her up. “Alright, thanks, but…we still have a couple of enemies to beat. You sure you‘re up or it.” DL looked back, to see the Gurdurr, chuckling. Beside him, there was the final Timburr, who seemed to be shaking a bit. As Issun and the others knocked out the other three Timburrs, the fourth one took a small step back, but the Gurdurr stood there, a big smirk on his face, and his Girder planted firmly on the ground. “Nice. Very nice. Now what? You want to try your hand against me?” “Shouldn’t be too hard, if you’re the boss of these losers,” Issun said, and closed his fist, stepping closer to the Gurdurr. “I’ll let you in on a little secret,” the Gurdurr muttered, leaning in a bit. “I can take on all of you at once.” “I’d like to see you try.” Issun dashed forward, and struck at Gurdurr with his palm. However, Gurdurr caught Issun’s palm, and tossed him upward, then swung his Girder up, to strike Issun. In a swift motion, Issun swerved in midair, narrowly avoiding the attack, and kicked down at Gurdurr. The kick connected cleanly with his shoulder. However Gurdurr simply resisted the attack, grabbed Issun’s leg, and slammed him down on the ground face-first. Issun clenched his teeth, and managed to kick Gurdurr’s hand with his other leg hard enough for him to let go. “You haven’t seen anything,” Issun muttered, and jumped to his feet. He got into a fighting stance, and dashed at Gurdurr again. Gurdurr threw a sweep at him with his Girdir, but Issun ducked the attack, as fire began to surround his leg. In a split second, most of his leg was covered in fire, and he kicked at Gurdurr’s stomach, taking advantage of the momentum he gained from ducking the attack. The kick connected, and sent Gurdurr back a few steps, a burn mark on his stomach. “What do you think of that?” Issun asked, smirking. Without hesitation, or a moment’s rest, Gurdurr regained his stance, and jabbed Issun on the stomach, making him wince. However, he clenched his teeth, grabbed Gurdurr’s arm and brought a devastating kick to Gurdurr’s face using its own momentum from the attack. The kick made Gurdurr lose his balance completely, and fall on his back. Issun turned around, panting. “There, now stay down.” He began walking away, stumbling a bit, when he heard a sound from behind him. He turned around, his eyes wide, and suddenly, he found Gurdurr’s hand wrapped around his neck tightly. “Good, good. You almost got me. But not quite,” Gurdurr muttered, with a chuckle. He brought his other fist back, and rammed it onto Issun’s stomach. Issun’s mouth opened slightly, his eyes losing focus. Suddenly, energy began flowing from Issun, around Gurdurr’s fist, into the Girder-wielding menace. “Y-you…” Issun muttered, before losing consciousness. Gurdurr chuckled again, and tossed Issun aside. “Which one of you is next?”

Chapter 3 - The Capture DL’s eyes widened a bit as Issun hit the ground, unconscious. He looked up at Gurdurr, glaring at him. “What’s the matter?” Gurdurr asked. “Upset because your little friend got hurt?” “That one’s no friend of mine. But…you don’t exactly plan to leave us in peace yet, do you?” Gurdurr smirked. “And that’s what worries you?” “What worries me, is I might have to dirty my claws with the likes of you. You’re all muscle and no brain, aren’t you?” Gurdurr’s smirked quickly turned into a frown. “I don’t think you’re in any position to talk. This thing right here was your best bet. The rest of you look pathetic.” DL raised his claws. “Oh, yeah?” He dashed at the Gurdurr, who threw a punch at him, but he easily sidestepped it. Gurdurr lost balance for a second, and Sneasel took the chance to swipe at his face. The slash left a gash on Gurdurr’s cheek, but he clenched his teeth, and punched DL in the stomach with his left hand. DL winced, and stepped back, clutching his stomach. His breathing short and fast, DL glared up at Gurdurr. “You…” Sleepy examined the fight patiently, from behind a rock. Renji snuck out of the bush he was in, and joined her. “You think…he can win?” Renji asked. Sleepy closed her eyes, and shook her head. “It might be too much…DL’s at a huge disadvantage…” “Wait, I thought Freeze was super effective against Fighting. That’s what Mia told me!” Sleepy blinked. “I…first off, it’s Ice. Second…maybe Mia to go to Trainer school again…for a couple more years. It actually works the exact opposite way. DL is Ice AND Dark, meaning fighting is incredibly tough for him to handle…” “It’s possible to have two types?” Renji said, with a small gasp. “Just what have I been learning…” “Hmm…what bothers me is,” Sleepy muttered. “I really don’t think DL can do it alone. We might be in trouble…” “But, what can we do to help? That thing’s a monster!” Sleepy moved her tail to her mouth, and nibbled on it softly. “There is one thing…” Gurdurr smirked. “So, you won’t attack?” “I…” Sneasel muttered, clenching his teeth. Damn it…I can’t exactly attack, he’s at too big of an advantage. I’ve got speed over him, but if I get hit a couple of times, I’m a goner. “Fine then,” Gurdurr exclaimed, and dashed forward. “Then I’ll come to you!” Gurdurr swept at DL with his girder, but DL simply jumped up, dodging it with relative ease, and swiped at his opponent’s face again. Gurdurr chuckled and leaned back, enough to avoid the slash, and delivered a chop to the back of DL’s head. “Gah…” DL gasped, his eyes losing focus, as he fell to his knees, staying there for a bit to get his conciousness back. Gurdurr towered over him, his girder raised high. “Time to end you. But I’ll give you props. For a rat, you’re quite persistent.” DL looked up, glaring at him, as Gurdurr brought his girder down to smash it onto him. Just then, a beam of ice hit Gurdurr on his side, launching him against a tree. The tree cracked as Gurdurr crashed onto it. DL stood up, shakily, and looked to where the beam had come from. Propped up on her tail, behind a rock, stood Sleepy. Her breathing was slightly heavy, and a thin line of wavering white fog was coming out of her mouth. “You…” DL began, blinking. “That was incredible! You beat that sucker down.” “She sure did,” Renji said, hopping a bit in place. DL’s amused face turned into a small frown. “Not like you helped, shrimp.” Renji sighed. “You’re rude, you know that?” “Yeah, we-” DL began to say, before he was brushed aside by a large hand. He slid a foot or two on the ground, before stopping. Gurdurr’s eyes focused on Sleepy. She inched away slowly. “Drat…I was hoping that was enough to take him out…” Sleepy muttered, a bead of sweat forming on her brow. “You…you’re brave, I’ll give you that. But you won’t be getting away with that…” Gurdurr suddenly picked up a large rock, and tossed it at Sleepy. She tried to sidestep, but the attack against Gurdurr had taken too much energy. She stepped to the side slightly, but the rock hit her dead-center. She gasped, her breath taken away for a second, and she hit the ground hard, the rock falling on top of her. She struggled to breathe, trying to squirm out from under the rock, but it kept her in place. Soon, her breathing grew ragged, and before she knew it, she had lost consciousness. Renji went into a state of panic at the sight, and began trying to desperately push the rock away. To no avail, however, as it didn’t budge an inch. “And that’s what happens to low-class commoners who think they can match up against someone of such pure strength as mine. It’s a tragic fate, but your hope is gone, little ones…” Renji turned around to face him, trembling. “It’s not gone!” “Oh really? All I see are, a bunch of pathetic weaklings lying face down. That one,” he said, pointing to Sleepy. “Has an interesting attack…but she is the greatest weakling among them.” “Stop it…” Renji exclaimed. Gurdurr raised an eyebrow, and smirked. “Oh, did I touch a nerve? But you know…the most pathetic ones aren’t them. The most pathetic one is you, who haven’t even attacked me. And I know you’re afraid to…which is okay. It isn’t foolish, to fear true power.” Renji looked down, shaking. “I…” “Tell me, did you have a human trainer?” Gurdurr asked, in a slight melodic voice. “Because if you did…she must have been the wimpiest trainer ever, to raise the wimpiest Pokemon ever…” “Be quiet!” Renji snapped. He swiped his leaf in a swift motion, and seeds shot at Gurdurr. He easily swept them aside, but that blocked his field of vision for a split second. Before he knew it, Renji had dashed at him rather quickly. He jumped up, above Gurdurr, and his leaves began shivering when he was right above his bulky foe. A melodic sound was released through sound waves, at him. Gurdurr narrowly avoided the sound waves, and nailed Renji in mid-air with his girder. Renji smashed down onto the ground, shaking. Renji glared up at Gurdurr, before receiving a kick that sent him flying against a tree. He slammed into it, and fell forward, wincing. “I’m disappointed. You came at me with ferocity…but you had nothing to back it up. Guess I’m finished here. The only one left is…” He glanced at DL, who was staring at him, shaking slightly, then chuckled. “And about time, too. It’s almost daybreak. You might want to help your friend. Rocks crushing your lungs…isn’t a pretty feeling.” DL gulped. “I…” Gurdurr turned to the Timburr who was with him, standing back from the action. He then gestured at Issun with a small movement of his hand. “Take him. He’s…interesting.” Timburr blinked, and nodded, slightly nervous. “Stop!” Renji called, causing Timburr to take a step back. Gurdurr turned back, raising an eyebrow. “You…what right do you have to do this? You’re just a big bully!” Gurdurr smirked again. “It’s not like you can stop us. Don’t talk so big, if you can’t back it up.” By that time, the sun had begun settling itself in the sky, casting a strong light onto the battlefield. A faint glow began to surround Renji. “You’ve done enough…I won’t let you take him! In fact, I’ll make you sorry for hurting my friends!” The energy around him increased, and a his eyes shone with a golden glimmer. In a split second, he dashed at Gurdurr at an incredible speed. Gurdurr threw a punch, but Renji easily dodged it, then sliced his side with his leaf, leaving a small cut. Renji hopped into the air, and launched a barrage of seeds at Gurdurr. Gurdurr tried to sweep them away, but they attached to his body, slowly sucking his energy. He fell to his knees, and Renji gently landed on the ground in front of him. “Had enough?” Renji asked. The response he got was a quick swipe from Gurdurr, which nearly touched him. However, he hopped back just in time to avoid it, and the seeds sapped energy from Gurdurr again. “Damn brat…you had something like this up your sleeve, huh?” Gurdurr muttered, smirking nervously. “Your speed’s incredible now…” Renji simply stood there, panting slightly. His eyes still had their golden glimmer. “But…” Gurdurr continued. “There’s one thing you should know.” “And what’s that?” Suddenly, Gurdurr dashed forward, at a blinding speed, and delivered a punch to Renji, before he could react. The punch stunned Renji, and he reeled back. However, he quickly shook himself back to full consciousness. He noticed his seeds were also shrinking away a bit. “That punch…” Renji said. “It wasn’t as strong as the hit you gave me before…and yet, how in the world is it so fast?” Gurdurr chuckled. “A punch…with the speed that transcends speed. That is why my species is the most powerful of all.” Renji let out a small growl, and dashed at him again, at an incredible speed. However, before he could make a move, Gurdurr smashed him with his fist again. He crashed against a rock, letting out a tiny groan, and slid down to the ground, breathing hard. Gurdurr slowly walked towards Renji, tilting his Gurdurr on his shoulder. “You put up a nice fight…one of the best I’ve had in a while. However…I’ll still be taking your friend. Consider it…lucky, that I’m sparing you, hmm?” “No…” Renji murmured. “This…is really what I can do? I didn’t think I could do this much. But, I still think I can do much more…” ________________________________________________________________________ Mia leaned over, and kneeled in front of Renji. “Understand, Renji? You can only use this in extreme situations…it’s really dangerous. Basically, you won’t ever have to use it, I hope…” Renji nodded, with a determined smile. Just then, Mia sat down on the grass, giggling. “Or, maybe it was just something for fireworks…I forgot.” ________________________________________________________________________ “Fireworks, huh? I guess we’re about to find out…” Renji muttered to himself, then jumped high in the air, the sun’s rays soaking him. “Hey, you! I ain’t done yet!” Gurdurr turned around, but this time, his eyes widened. In the sky, casting a large shadow below, was Renji. A green sphere of energy rotated rapidly in front of him. He glared down at Gurdurr. “This is for my friends…” The green sphere’s rotations intensified in speed, and in a second, a gigantic blast of energy shot from the sphere, at Gurdurr. He saw the attack incoming, and raised his girder in front of him to block. However, the metal stood no chance, and was easily crushed by the intensity of the blast. It hit Gurdurr squarely in the chest, causing him to wince, and launched him back against a cliff. The blast hammered at him for a bit, cracking the side of the hill a bit, until it finally subsided. Renji slowly floated down, panting heavily. The smoke slowly subsided, as Timburr watched silently, his mouth slightly agape. When the smoke cleared, there stood Gurdurr, shaking, and supporting himself with one half of his broken girder. He spat some blood on the floor. “You sure got me good…I almost lost conciousness there,” he muttered, walking away, as he motioned for Timburr to pick up Issun. He then turned around, as he and Timburr were walking away. “What is…your name?” Renji merely stood silent. Gurdurr chuckled. “You have won this time, Cottonee. I admit defeat…but nothing says the loser can’t come out winning…better luck next time.” Renji turned to DL, shortness of breath still obvious in his voice. “What are you waiting there for? Get them, they’re weak now!” DL stood without a word, shaking. He clenched his claw, and teeth. “…I’m sorry…” he muttered, leaving Gurdurr and Timburr to disappear slowly from their sights.

Chapter 4 - The Cell “Why didn’t you try to stop them?” Renji asked, shaking his leaves frantically. DL sat down, one of his legs bent, so his knee was close to his stomach, the other extended. He rested his arm on his knee, and sighed. “Do you…really think I didn’t want to? Well, granted, I didn’t really want to. But even if I did…I’m sure that he had more than enough strength to destroy me, even as he was in that state. That guy’s scary…” Renji glared at him. “Oh, forget it. Just help me get this rock off of Sleepy. We can go rescue Issun later.” DL glanced at the rock for a few seconds, then scoffed. “Do it yourself. Don’t you have that huge-ass blast? I bet it can break that rock easily.” “It’s not like I can do it whenever I want, that was in the heat of the moment!” However, Renji’s argument was unheard, as DL had already sat, leaning on a nearby tree, and closed his eyes. Faint breathing could be heard, as his stomach softly moved up and down with each breath. Renji sighed. He distanced himself from the rock a bit, and then charged at it, but his soft forehead didn’t do anything. Of course. Even so, Renji kept alternating between ramming himself into the rock, and pushing it. Wait a minute… DL thought. If I help her out of this life-threatening situation…then she’s sure to fall for me. Hmm… “Move aside!” Renji turned around, to see DL behind him, a determined look on his face. He was striking a fighting pose, his fist clenched in front of him. “I’ll show you how a real man does it!” “But you’re a Pokemon!” “Shut the hell up and watch!” DL yelled, smashing his fist into the rock. His fist coated itself in ice a few moments before impact, also leaving a bit of frost on the rock, cracking it slightly. “Damn it, break!” he yelled again, ramming repeatedly at the rock with his fists. Renji sighed, and muttered, “What’s gotten into him…?” Complete darkness. Faint sounds, but none he could make out. Heavy air, hard to take in with big breaths. Issun slowly opened his eyes, and quickly moved his paw to his head, to try and calm the raging headache he felt. He sat up, wincing, and looked around. The room itself, was almost completely dark. There was a single candle mounted on the wall, near the roof. Its soft flame flickered, seeming to dance, casting an eerie shadow around the room. Underneath the candle, laying against the wall, was a small figure. It had its paws curled up to its body, its head laying on a makeshift pillow. Suddenly, the figure turned, so it was laying on its back. It put its paws behind lazily. Issun could hardly tell, but it seemed the figure was glancing at him from the corner of its eye. “So, you’re awake,” the figure said. “No duh…where the hell am I?” Issun asked. “And who the hell are you?” “I am…a prisoner. Just like you. And we’re in a prison.” “Oh really? From what you said about us being prisoners, I expected an amusement park…” Issun muttered, then sighed. “Okay, screw the sarcasm. How exactly did we end up here?” “Well, you got captured somewhere, most likely. Here is the cell for the ones they consider ‘interesting‘. I take it that means you’ve got some potential.” Issun smirked. “Well, I don’t like to brag, but I-” “I had potential too, it seems,” the figure said, cutting him off. It then got up, and stared straight at him. The faint glow of the candle cast a dark shadow on its face. It revealed that the figure was actually an Eevee, though it also revealed the scar on his left eye, that went from his lower forehead, to his cheek. “But potential alone won’t get you far, believe me…” Issun instinctively ran his paw over his left cheek. “How did you get that?” “Long story. But we don’t have long. It’s almost time.” “For what?” “Our escape, of course. You came at a pretty nice time…by the way, what’s your name?” “…Issun. And yours?” “Been a long time since I’ve been asked that. Just call me Dem.” “Alright, Dem. So…what exactly is our escape plan?” Issun asked, raising an eyebrow. Dem walked over to a small, messy pile of covers in the corner, and grabbed a tip by his teeth. He then pulled on it, revealing not a messy pile, but a single cover, that was shielding a small box from view. He opened the small box, and took out two herbs. He tossed one to Issun. “The coup. It seems the prisoners aren’t the only ones who dislike the current leadership…” Dem muttered, and bit down on his herb. “Eat. You’ll need all the strength you can get.” Issun blinked, pondering about the new information. Then, he looked down at his herb, and put it all in his mouth at once. Instantly, the incredibly bitter taste filled his mouth, and he winced, almost spitting it out, but managed to swallow it. “That was horrible…” Issun muttered. “Bitter? Don’t worry…” Dem said, leaning back on his pillow again. “Because freedom will taste very, very sweet.” Sleepy’s eyes flickered open. She laid there for a bit, regaining her senses, before she got up lazily. She let out a long yawn, stretching a bit, even her tail standing on end for the stretch. It then slid back down to the ground, semi-wrapping itself around her. “What is…I remember there was a rock on top of me…” she muttered, looking around. Her eyes widened a bit, as she saw hundreds of rock chunks scattered all around, the huge rock that had been on top of her, nowhere to be found. Laying against one of the larger pieces of rock, leaning on each other, were DL and Renji. Renji looked covered in dirt, and some bruises, from leaf to leaf. Meanwhile, there were scratches on DL’s face, and arms. But more noticeably, his claws were covered in dried blood. Sleepy gave a small gasp. “So if it wasn’t for them, I’d probably be…” She smiled to herself, and sat down next to DL, where there was more space, This left DL between her and Renji, and she soon joined both of them in deep sleep. Gurdurr slammed the door, dragging his feet, the damage from the fight still showing. He glared at Timburr, who had been the only companion that had come back with him. “You could have helped, you know?” Timburr laughed uncomfortably. “Well, those guys were strong…” “A nice excuse. Do you still have the stone?” “Um, about that…” Timburr muttered, took a few steps back, nonchalantly. “I kind of, forgot it here. So, I didn’t exactly have it with me when we were there.” Gurdurr chuckled. “You’re hopeless…but at least we got some results. He should also be useful… oh and be sure not to forget the stone for tomorrow night, though.” Timburr gasped. “I almost forgot about that! But, you can’t still be planning to do that. It’d be suicide, with the way your body is!” Gurdurr placed one of his hands on Timburr’s head. “I am not the only one. You will be the one to succeed me.” “But, I’m just-” “You’re special. I am no different from the others I our clan. I have limitations. But you…believe in the gift your mother left you…Fusion.” “What do you mean? There’s nothing I can do that you can’t. And you’re stronger. If you…if you lose, father…how can I win?” Gurdurr chuckled again. “I said she left it for you. Not that you had received it.” He rummaged inside a sack made from intertwined blades of grass, and finally took out a box. He opened the box, and showed it to Fusion. Inside, perfectly smooth and shiny, was what looked to be a brick-colored CD. Fusion’s eyes widened. “This is…” Gurdurr smirked, took the CD, and pressed it to Fusion’s forehead. After a quick flash, Fusion opened his eyes wide, as the CD’s information flowed through him. Soon after, he backed away, a bit dizzy. “This is…enough to beat him?” “I’m confident. But of course…that is, if I don’t do it first. don’t count your old man our just yet.” He gave a hearty laugh, then looked out the window, a small smile on his face. He still doesn’t realize…even without that, he’s already surpassed me. I’ll sure show our son what his old man’s made of. But, in the end…I’m sure he will be the one…Cherry.”
Fusion X. Denver
Wow, that's probably the longest chapter I've seen from you in a long time .-. You've got a good start here; you still have that knack for subtle characterizations and setting the mood. My one small gripe is a lot of people kept saying "Right? Isn't that right, __" in the beginning but that's whatever. Cool story, hope you stick with it.
DL
It's a pilot, it SHOULD be pretty long ;D And, thanks :3 I honestly feel kinda relieved to have gotten back into writing =P It relaxes me, at least, that's what it feels like it xD I didn't really notice that "right" thing...^^'' any examples? o3o I'll probly stick with it~ And some other YCMembers might just make cameos, who knows =P It's funny, because at first, my idea for a fic was something like DEF, but with my brony friends Then it turned into Pokemon high Then it went to this xD
Fusion X. Denver
Hrm, had trouble finding more than 2 this time. Never mind me then, I'm a loony. Thank god you avoided Pokemon High...KS High was weird enough >3> How long do you think this'll be?
DL
I have NO idea, but I dont think it'll be too long =P And, yeah.....this is MUCH better @.@

Fusion X. Denver
That was a pretty good fight. Very detailed action, but I'm confused by that one kick Issun used on the Gurdurr. If it simply kicked him back, Issun wouldn't be able to use momentum gained from the attack to kick Gurdurr back, unless it magically teleported behind him. But aside from that and a few minor editing mistakes, good chapter. I'm guessin we'll see DL tackle Gurdurr next.
DL
He used Counter So it magically gains momentum ;D And, editing mistakes? o3o Well, I guess that'd happen, since I didnt proofread xD
Fusion X. Denver
Ah. I don't know if that was supposed to be obvious or not, but whatever. Yeah, missing comma here and there, couple typos, but it's no biggie. I'm just surprised I appear to be the only reader, a lot of people have been obsessing over Pokemon lately. DL
Actually, Issun and Renji read it (and Sleepy wants to, when she has time) But, they just tell me what they think of it on skype o3o And, it wasn't really meant to be obvious xD
Lt. Colonel Remo
To tell you the truth, I don't really read pokemon/yugioh fics Ever. But I'll make an exceoption for you DL. Lt. Colonel Remo
It was kinda weird So lemme get this straight, this will be from the perspective of the pokemon right? And...DL is a pokemon as well? this might actually be kinda interesting
Grunt Issun
Well, considering DL was outright referred to as a Sneasel, and considering that all the trainers are [s]dead[/s] missing... Yes. Both of those are true.
CMRenji
this might actually be [s]kinda[/s] incredibly interesting
Quick fix. :3 And yea, lots o' Pokemon and not much humans for the most part I believe. Fusion X. Denver
That was a good action chapter. Loved how Renji stepped up to the plate and delivered well, and cool that Sleepy got a hit in too. Don't get DL's deal with letting them take Issun, but I'm sure there's an explanation. Fusion X. Denver
Course I didn't notice an update son, you gotta bump the thread for me to notice. Pretty interesting chapter. Not even from me being a Timburr (which I guess does fit, in a way), but that the Gurdurr apparently has a nice side to him. Think it might have made more sense for him to be Fusion's brother rather than his dad, but that might just be me. And that there's such a thing as a tough Eevee. Loling at Cherry being my mom btw. Is Clair going to be my Spinda sister next or something >3> If I had to venture a guess at next chapter, maybe Dem and Issun will run into Fusion and then a fight breaks out or something.
