Official One Piece Anime & Manga Discussion Thread

Went back and watched the Señor Pink backstory and climax of the fight episodes since I realized I had skipped them since I don't watch most of the anime anymore.

Hard boiled. TT^TT

Also, Toei actually did good with the animation and the OST was top in those scenes.

[spoiler=Chapter 818]Holy exposition, Batman! Suddenly the crew is 1/4th of the way to finding where One Piece lies, the Wano guys made the Poneglyphs, Momonsuke's father was part of Roger's crew most likely, and the fight with the Yonkos all seem a lot closer all of a sudden. The revelations this chapter were insane, thank you Oda.

Also, conspiracy time!

You know I just realized.  Unless the the poneglyphs in question have some sort of signifigance when all 4 inscriptions are obtained, shouldn't anyone be able to at least FIND Raftel by obtaining only 3/4 of them.

If Raftel is at the lone point of intersection formed by making an X between the 4 points, then removing 1 of those points cause the remaining 3 points to form a triangle.  This triangle is special in the sense that 1 of it's 3 sides is one of the 2 diagonals that are formed when connecting the corners of all 4 points (i.e. you can divide a square in half by 1 corner to the exact opposite corner, and obtain 2 right triangles.  Raftel is located at the intersection of these 2 diagonal lines)

Therefore, if one of those sides of that triangle is in fact a diagonal of the shape formed with all 4 points, then Raftel can be found on 1 of the triangle's 3 sides, even if you don't already know which one is the diagonal.  Considering how one of the poneglyphs remains lost, perhaps that is how Roger was the first to find raftel.  He took a shortcut to find it.

Or maybe you really do need all 4 for some additional reason.  Geometrically speaking however, it should be posible with at least 3.  The straw hats have 1, and will probably get a 2nd after the upcoming arc vs. Kaido.  Then Oda could do something crazy like have the Straw Hats discover the lost one, and by extension completely avoid any confrontation with Big Mom by simply traveling that triangle.

This is all just wild speculation and theorycrafting, but Oda has yet to explain why that is not a valid solution, something of which he is usually on top of

Maybe, unless the four points are all super far apart and they only have the idea of the general area of where Raftel would be with it still being too large to search blindly.

There's no way they'd skip Big Mom. If anything, I think the Straw Hats will be fighting her first before Kaido since they're going to get Sanji right now.

I feel like it's a given that you need all 4 poneglyphs for some special reason, if it was just someplace you could find with imprecise directions, there'd surely be some pirates who would have just chanced upon it somewhere down the line.

[spoiler=Chapter 820]

Oh, right. I forgot the Log Pose was supposed to head there anyways.

Um, alright then. I guess there's still info to be gleaned from the other Poneglyphs as well.

I'm surprised Luffy's only bringing half his crew though. What're the others going to do?

Maybe Zoro's group will fight Jack while Luffy's escapes to find Sanji? I'd be cool with that.

[spoiler=confused]

confused as to where law is going. But Oda made an excellent tie in to WB's son

I guess by the time the whole Straw Hat crew had first been assembled, I never really thought about how connected to such legendary figures a lot of them are.

Luffy had Shanks.

Usopp had Yasopp.

Sanji had Zeff (and potentially the Vinsmokes, depending on how big they are).

Franky had Tom.

Brook had Crocus.

Huh, I guess so.

It's even more interesting because they've gone on to befriend a whole bunch more.

So I counted it up, and the Doflamingo fight lasted across 36 episodes. I get that there were also several other fights intermingled, but Jesus Christ the pacing of the anime is so bad right now.

The thing is, the pace of the anime has always been like this. Even the Crocodile fight lasted a long time.

The arcs are long on purpose, so that the anime doesn't catch up to the manga too quickly and we don't have to get fillers shoved down our throats. I prefer slow pacing than fillers, personally.
