Nope, He was Commodore Smoker when we last saw him. That's not to say he couldn't have gotten promoted during timeskip but i doubt he would get up to Admiral. Yet.

 

LolWikiTrivia: All marines Vice-Admiral or higher have Haki. This either means Smoker isn't qualified to be promoted, or he developed Haki during the timeskip, which would be awesome.

 

That also improves odds of Coby getting fast-tracked up the ranks, But I feel like Captain would be the realistic rank he could have reached at this point.

 

As for next admirals, if Smoker was a candidate, he'd probably turn it down like Garp did so he could have the freedom and privileges to chase Luffy. But he does fit into the color theme the admirals had going so thats why i say "Yet."

But Tsuru gets eliminated for having been a VA for 27 years already. So I can only conclude Momonga will get promoted and a new/non-VA character will take the remaing open slot.

 

Feel free to award more points to whoever for whatever logical reason

About Aokiji, I personally think the teamup to fight Akainu would be perfect. (Quite personally, I think of Luffy and Aokiji vs. Coby and Akainu as the final. Coby actually gained some power.... and the complete awesome of that battle, my head blew up twice thinking of it.) I can imagine the final blow. Luffy would fire a Third Gear Elephant Gun at Akainu, with it covered in Ice, and it just goes though him to the point he is completely dead. Or, knocking him into the water. Or his own power kills him. Lava melts Ice... you get the idea.

 

This is going to be a great, long arc. I can just imagine somebody joining at this point. And Luffy knocking Big Mam into the Candy Factory.

Do you think it will be just Luffy vs Big Mam, or will Zoro and Sanji ( and mabye Robin and Franky ) try and help? I really can't see Nami, Chopper, Ussop, or Brook wanting to battle Big Mam. Let alone even surviving a battle with her.

IMO, it will be like old arcs where Luffy fights the strongest, Zoro first second, and so on.

 

Anyway, that was a sweet chapter, well worth the wait.

great chapter, classic Luffy, also great to hear of Kidd since the time skip and love that Big Mam said "Come to the New World" didnt realise shed be so big, anyway hopefully the next chapter is released on thursday if so then f*** yea!

 

Also I had a thought about Blackbeard, I think he'll one day be named the strongest pirate in the world, before Luffy beats him obviously. Because when you think about it he's ascended through the status' of the most dangerous Pirates ie: Shichibukai & Yonkou, the only higher status is "Strongest Pirate" God there's so muchh to look forward to in this Manga.

lol. Well, Caribou got taken down quick. The butt-monkey should stay down too if he doesnt want another beating.

 

Big Mom semi-revealed. Looks like she has a stomach-based devil fruit like Wapol. Her crew also looks pretty cool; a 3 eyed girl and a lion(assuming df here).

 

Luffy's gonna get a major boost in cred after this next arc. Taking down one of the 4 toughest pirates in the world and controlling the entrance to the New World will be sweet. He might as well name Alabasta and the other islands he's been to his turf too.

Don't think that will be the next arc. It might be rushing things a bit to fast. It just showed that they will battle at some point in the near (about a year from now?) future.

If that's the case, do you think there'll still be a fight? They might settle the matter peacefully.

That is just speculation. It can still be the case, but we won't know until that time.

 

A year in pur time or in the manga timeline?

Real time. Think we'll have another arc before that fight happens personaly.

I spose you have a point. The other thing Oda could do is have Luffy and Big Mom team-up against Kidd, or Luffy making a deal with Big Mom to take care of him for her.

 

So basically after this next arc, Luffy is going to become one of the emperors. Just like blackbeard, how bout that.

 

I dont think taking down a Yonkou is quite enough to become one. BB managed it with other factors in play. Like The Impel Down inmates, his fearsome df power and he knew all of Whitebeard's turf and easily took control of it.

I've heard that theory too. Only the Vivre card Nami has will tell. I highly doubt things can be solved peacefully since the two of them are pissed off, and Luffy wont calm down til he bashes someones head in. I think they might come to an agreement, but not a friendly one.

Post time-skip Smoker was as awesome to see again as the Strawhats. He's been waiting for Luffy right where he HAS to go by, like Loguetown in the East Blue.

 

Jimbe didnt join the Strawhats because of his obligation to Big Mam, meaning he WILL join after this arc. During the arc, it would make sense if he fought alongside Luffy again, but only Oda knows.

 

That bomb might just be the thing that destroys Fishman Island, it's destructive power wasn't really been described. I dont really think it's ben "destroyed" yet either.

Or it'll be as Neptune feared and act as the declaration of war to get things under way.

 

Pekoms in cool in that he is assuredly a Zoan-type, and a competent haki-user. He has loin and turtle charcteristics which reminds me of the ancient creature from Avatar:tla. He could be a Mythical-Zoan. Or he's just wearing a giant turtle shell

 

Caribou got his ass handed to him. AGAIN. Who the hell is You-Know-Who?

 

 

I spent the whole chapter laughing gleefully. Best chapter in a while.
