When getting a new game, do you actually read the instructions before playing?

I usually look at a tutorial Level rather than read any instructions... lol

Akai Katana was the only exception though, I was trying to figure out how to trigger Co-op mode for it...

If there's one thing I learned from Sonic Generation's manual, it's that sometimes, reading the manual can be a good thing (Trophy Room, IT ISNT SECRET.).

I open it after I start the game and don't know how to do something.

I rather enjoy reading through it, usually since there's a nice piece of the games Lore or something inside it. So I do every chance I get.

It's never anything special unless they decide to throw some random crap in.

You only read it if you cannot yet play it. aka, on the car ride home.

I never read them unless I don't know the controls, and the game fails to explain them to you.

I am always saddened when a game ships with a manual that is 12 pages long... and that's only due to the manual being translated into 4 languages =/

I open them during the first loading screen while loading up the game for the first time. I usually only read the parts that interest me. (Read: Barely Anything)

I think every instruction manual I've opened for like 5 years I've opened on the first loading screen, then never actually read.

Most recent exception that comes to mind is Crisis Core, since my PSP had to update to play it so I read some of the character bios.
