Welcome to the Card Maker Colosseum, or more precisely, the remake of a Colosseum long lost. Here in the Colosseum, you will become a “Card Maker Gladiator” and compete against other Gladiators for fame and prizes. Your abilities shall be recognized as you take part in fun and challenging card contests.

 

 

1) Joining

You can ask for membership if you have 2 or more Stars, donate 50 points, and are SERIOUS about competing. You must also agree to check on the Colosseum regularly. I for one am tired of PM’ing people each time they have a match and so I won’t be anymore. The title of the Colosseum will be changed by me regularly, so you can see what round we are in. If you did not have a match in round 4, you check back after “round 5" as been added to the title. The current round match-ups are on the post below this one. If you no longer wish to compete in the Colosseum, or are leaving YCM, please inform me so I can remove you from the list and give your match to a willing competitor.

 

2) Competing

Once you’ve signed up, you will be added to the list of Gladiators and given 3 “Gladial Points”. Gladial Points determine your skill level. Think of them as Star Chips from the animated series. I will tell you more on them later. I will call out 2 or more Gladiators and they will have 2-3 days to create a card. Sometimes the cards that need to be created will have certain requirements or restrictions. Once your card is made, DO NOT POST IT ON THIS THREAD, send me a private message with a link to it and I will post all entries later when voting is completed. I will be judging the entries. On some occasions I will be have a “guest judge” when I cannot.

 

3) Prizes

When a Gladiator wins a match, he/she gains a Gladial Point (GP) but can loose a point instead if he/she loses. There is a guaranteed point prize to the winner. The number of points you win is determined by the amount of GP your opponent had when you defeated him. Winning against a Gladiator with a GP of 7 will ensure a greater prize than one with a GP of 2. Also, if you defeat the “Defending Champion” a rep will be awarded to you by myself. Finally, there may be “special prizes” for winning certain challenges.

4) Ranking

Like I previously said, there will be Gladial Points to determine your level of skill and how many points you’re worth. All Gladiators will have a change of stealing the title from the Defending Champion. When a new Defending Champion arises, he/she will be given a rep commemorating their achievement.

 

5) Defending Champion

The Champion can challenge any Gladiator to a match if there is no current match being held. Likewise, the Champion can be challenged by any member with 4 or more Gladial Points for his/her title (Challenges cannot be made of the challenger or the recipient are in matches). The challenger make the terms, and the challenged has a right to refuse.

Additional Rules

1) When a Gladiator has 0 GP, he/she will be put in a match with two other Gladiators that are in the same situation. Then, the winner will get 3 GP, second place will get 2 GP, and finally last place will get 1 GP. There will be no point prizes for this match and the entries will be judged by a panel of Gladiators I have chosen.

2) If you do not show for your match and do not have a viable reason for doing so, a * symbol will be added in front of your name. If you miss your next match after that, you’re out of the Colosseum. It’s not right that some Gladiators are waiting for matches while others who have a match aren’t participating.

3) When you win a match, if I fill you have outmatched all of your opponents in every field, your victory will be dubbed “Overkill” and the GP you earn will be doubled.

THE CHALLENGE!

 

The Initiation Challenge!

 

Since the Colosseum has reopened, our first match will be a battle royal of card making, just to see where everyone stands. Don’t worry, you cannot lose GP in this little pre-contest before the official matches begin. You gain only gain from this experience. ;)

 

I’m going to start things off with an Image-Mix contest. My last one was pretty fun and it says a lot on how you can adapt your card making skills to unfamiliar images.

 

So, everyone post 1 Image. I will be randomly distributing the images amongst Gladiators (you may even end up with the same one you submitted). You all know what I expect from card makers, so no guidelines will be needed.

 

Prizes:

1st Place: 2 GP and 60 points.

 

2nd Place: 1 GP and 40 Points.

 

Best Submitted Pic: Challenge-Choice. Instead of being randomly thrown into his/her next match, this Gladiator gets to choose which of the matches he will enter.
