Return of the Orichalcos (Finishing/PG-13/IC)

Recommended Posts

Ringmistress smiled and replied. "I have several, but we're going to have to choose one and use the others as decoys. Itsu has several doors leading to parts of Detroit, such as City Hall, the old Duel Arcadia facility in Rivard Park, her Duel Runner workshop, built from an old car factory, and a few others. She has a Pelican in a maintenance bay above us, and a transport barge behind the tower at the loading dock. There is a storage area below the tower and above the Ener-D reactor we can use to get supplies. In the meantime, I need to get some Mannequins up here and make them look like us."

Castle, still fuming over the bridge sinking, reached into his pocket and pulled out a communicator, then dialed a special number, one reserved for his immediate superior in the Orichalcos cult...

And Castle was replied. He could most likely hear heavy air currents in the background, which served as obvious evidence that Archetype Earth was currently in flight. "Oh? I'll be there in seven minutes." She said into it.

The woman, Archetype Earth, was currently flying from Russia to Detroit, a distance at nearly five thousand miles, or over seven thousand kilometers. This is a distance that usually takes around nine hours by plane, although the one selected for Viktor to board travels at eighteen times the speed of a normal plane, meaning it could traverse the distance in about half an hour. But even so, that 'plane' is a one specifically designed for this purpose, for traversing the difference, not to mention it has orichalcum, a near-infinite power source, as fuel.

And yet the woman said so herself, that she will traverse five thousand miles in ten, no, SEVEN minutes.

Ridiculously, by that logic, she is going at a speed of around 64500 kilometers per hour, or to put that into perspective, 18 kilometers per second.

This was the exact speed Archetype Earth was going at.

---------------------------

"We'll have to select a destination that is resourceful, allowing us to plan our counterattack against the Orichalcos, yet won't attract any attention. Thus, definitely not City Hall." He said, and then turned to the team gathered there. "How about you select our destination? Pandora? Kurai?"

Cynthia arrived as the DWF event was getting set up. Three things stood out at her about this event. The old guy sitting with a girl who was probably a good 15 or 20 years younger than him.

The 2 wrestlers, she could tell they were restlers at least one was because one was wearing a mask, talking the girl about who knows what though not as strange as the first one it still struck as a little odd. What really struck her was the power that radiated off the 2 guys.

Finally though not really odd as this was a DWF event, but it amused her was the kids running around with masks on perfoeming wreslting moves on each other.

To pass the time she pulled out her I-pod and waited then she would strike.

"Well personally I think the duel runner workshop it seems like it wouldn't be a strategic location but it should have plenty of supplies and easy access to highways and other desirable locations, but I don't know everything that is going on but I'm guessing they're watching for boats or air traffic from this building."

Albtrum was bored out of his mind he knew something interesting was going on elsewhere but he was stuck watching a little girl who was just trying to wake up a pair of apparently very heavy sleepers.

Alexander actually woke up very early each day, but he liked to lay in bed (or on the floor wrapped in a blanket, as the case may be), so Alexander bolted upright when Atsuko shook him. "Huh? What's going on are we being attacked?! Is it the Orichalcos?!" Alexander madly tried to get dressed, pulling on a shirt and pants haphazardly, noticing at the last second that his shirt was inside-out and backwards. In the time it took to fix it, Atsuko could have gotten a good look at the multitude scars covering Alexander's back and the large grisly, crescent-shaped one on his chest. He looked down at her. "Don't ask about the scars, please..." he said, putting on his jacket, thereby hiding the last of his arm scars from sight.

Alexander looked around and peaked outside. There wasn't anything going on. Just a false alarm... he thought, sighing internally. "Hey, what's up, Atsuko? Why'd you want us to get up so early? It's only, like, 8:30."

Atsuko replied to Alexander after he woke up. "It's after 10:00, actually. And I think we're being followed. I keep getting the sensation that we're being watched, so I think we should get moving." She then added in a soft voice. "And I won't ask about them, though I will let you tell me when you're more comfortable."

"I also think we should head to this workshop." Pandora added. "It might have resources we could use. The only question is how we get there."

"Well, not meaning to give you guys a time limit, but we need to start moving." Ringmistress announced. "NORAD is picking up a sizeable Orichalcos meteor that appeared over Siberia and is headed for this location. We have 6 minutes until it arrives. Also, I am diverting power from keeping the doors connecting to off-island sites open to the shields in case this thing does hit us. You guys will have to take the Pelican parked upstairs." A set of holographic arrows led around the tower to a set of stairs. "Now, who here knows how to fly a military-grade sub-orbital dropship?"

Arta had been walking around now for two hours. He sighed, he couldn't help it that he was terrible with directions. In all his life he had never liked following a map, he just went where his feet would take him. Now however, his cards were telling him where to go, and even with their direction, he was still hopelessly lost. It occured to him right then that he had, in fact, been walking in circles (so to speak). He noticed that the same cafe he had passed not ten minutes ago was right next to him again.

"Seriously? Wow, now this is just annoying." Arta let out another deep sigh as he ran his fingers through his hair. "Oh well, I might as well take a break anyways, my feet are killing me."

Arta walked towards the cafe. Noticing the sign above the shop saying 'Cafe Luna'. "Well I could all ways ask for directions since I am stopping." He thought.

Mildly surprised by Lucas' resourcefulness and generosity, Carla gratefully accepted the spare folding chair. "Well, you certainly are a gentleman," Carla replied, one of few times when she actually meant for a compliment to be sincere. "I was actually going to ask you the same question," she added in response to Lucas' inquiry. "I didn't think wrestling was your kind of entertainment. As for me, I just figured, "why not come and watch?" Besides, I can go "reaping" afterwards... ... and as I've already said, I'm not in the market for a relationship," she concluded with a scowling side glance toward Lucas. "You are absolutely senile if you think I have any intention of "hooking up" with anyone. No offense to you, of course; I'm sure you can fetch a nice girl yourself, my age or otherwise."

Alexander's expression grew concerned as Atsuko mentioned that she thought they were being followed. "Oh..." he said, struggling to find a solution in his mind. "Well...I suppose, if it's the Orichalcos...We were going to have to fight them eventually anyway, right? So...I guess now's as good a time as any, since we're well-rested..."
Still, it sucks that we already might have to confront them...If worst comes to worst and there's more than one...Well, I'll just have to duel 'em all by myself. The other two don't have to get involved...I'm the one who deserted the Orichalcos, not them.

"Alright, well, I suppose we should wake up our friend here, right?" Alexander said, walking over to Lance. He placed both his hands on his shoulders and shook him gently. "Hey, get up. I think we better move out quickly, or we're gonna be in trouble..." he said quietly, just in case whoever was following them was listening in.

Idris watched the holographic display as the Ringmistress AI explained the situation as well as the combat suits the cultists where apparently utilizing. It all seemed a bit much but considering how crazy and serious the cultists seemed it didn't seem all that farfetched to her. She chewed her lip nervously, feeling a little like a third wheel with her lack of knowledge on anything going on. She also found herself periodically taking her phone out to check if her grandfather had tried to call her back, always returning it with a nervous frown when she did so. She cast another nervous glance around the others in the room, most of which seemed to be taking this a lot better than she was, most likely they where used to these situations.

"Doesn't the thing have an autopilot?" She asked, surely a person with access to all this technology would be able to build something with a decent computer guidence system "Best I know is a load of ancient magic mumbo-jumbo, not exactly much room for learning to fly a plane in my family."

Nevertheless she made her way up the stairs following the arrows, having no intention of staying in this building while it was being invaded by a group of armed nutters.

~10 MInutes Later~
"Noooo please anything but my soul I beg of you. I can give you money if you want please let me live..please..please..I'm sorry for the sins i have committed let me live...please a second chance" spoke the now sober drunk. He was kneeling on the floor tears streaming down his eyes begging for a second chance to live to escape his own fate but to Solomon judgement had been given there was no reason to listen to his pleas.

"Every person has to abide by judgment there is no rhyme or reason to fate but as long as it exist it will continue to judge us. So tell me why should you escape judgment?" The look on Solomon's face was a sight of disdain and hate not only did he have to duel someone weak he was forced to look at the now a pathetic image of man begging for his life.

"No answer well i guess its over the verdict is death....... SEAL OF ORICHAlCOS" Solomon watched as the man cried out in terrible pain, pain that couldn't be described in words. His very essence was leaving him everything that was and is him was now fading turning into energy for the cult. Death was not an easy sight to bare so a single ounce of sadness welled up inside him. He wasn't found of crying so before tears came out he squashed the emotion and focused himself.

" hmm that was more emotional than I thought I should get something to eat Cafe Luna should still be open"

Unfortunately for poor Alexander, such a feat wasn't going to happen. For a moment, his Seal of Orichalcos card glowed.

You fool, a voice echoed within his head, mocking him. You must involve them. Do not let extra souls go in vein. You must involve them. Do not let extra souls go in vein. You must involve them. Do not let extra souls go in vein. You must involve them. Do not let extra souls go in vein. You must involve them... do not...

This voice repeated on and on in his head, annoyingly. A result of the Orichalcos's will going into his head like a needle. It was just an idea being repeated over and over again. The movie Inception had explored such a concept, the implanting of an idea. Poor Alexander could fight it off, of course, but it won't disappear until it's already too late. This meant the next time he used the Seal of Orichalcos.

-------

"Hmph. A meteor, huh? Their plan is possibly to blow this place up. Perhaps they're in a hurry or just not taking any risks..." Protheus mused, although this was entirely incorrect. Still, how could they possibly know what's coming for them? "In any case, if it arrives and we still haven't escaped, I'm sufficient enough to repel the meteor back into space. Unfortunately, I don't know how to drive a dropship, I never bothered to learn."

He rolled his eyes, and then said absently, staring at the roof, with a sarcastic tone; "Perhaps the programming of some convenient MAGI would be sufficient, since they'd most likely already have knowledge on all kinds of vehicles programmed into them, and I believe they could also access the internet with their minds for a tutorial if they didn't have one. Oh, but it's a shame Solace is now a mythril statue. Whatever shall we do now?"

----------------

As Solomon succeeded in taking a soul, a small stone tablet the size of a trading card appeared among many others inside the hallroom of the cult, behind the Orichalcum throne.

Arta was leaning over a cup of green tea. He had walked into 'Cafe Luna' with the intent of asking for directions to Duel Arcadia headquarters, but he liked the atmosphere of the little coffee shop. It was quiet, and relaxing. The cashier was sitting on her stool reading 'Fifty Shades of Grey', what the appeal was about that book Arta would never know. Arta turned back to his cup and took a sip. He was content to say the least, he would not mind spending a couple of hours here just relaxing. Just then the bell over the door rang and a very tall boy walked into the shop.

"Who is this?" Arta thought. He looked down at the boy's wrist and noticed that he was carrying a duel disk.

Cynthia she might aswell join the fossil and the vixen. Cynthia strode over to them I-pod still in her ears. They stood out to her though because of the way her "Seal of Orichalcos" seamed to be leading her to the them which thoroughly intrested her. The girl was taking a seat that the dinosaur had pulled out. How cute thought Cynthia. Cynthia walked in front of the old man and pulled out her "Seal of Orichalcos". "Hello dinosaur and his mistress I'm Cynthia how do you do?" A good an introduction as any thought Cynthia.

Pandora was already heading to the upper floor, following the arrows until she reached a cylindrical room full of mechanical parts and tools, and a large olive-green plane-like object in the center. The Pelican just barely fit inside of the workshop, with stubby wings, a broad front that faintly resembled its namesake's deep bill, and four nacelles, two attached to its wings and two in the rear, that provided maneuvering while a pair of engines on the top gave it the thrust to escape Earth's gravity. Already as she approached, she asked Ringmistress. "So you can just give me this overlay?" "Indeed." The AI replied. "Just clear your mind for a few seconds while I download the package into your mushware." Pandora stopped as she was about to enter the open cargo bay, staring forward while the skills needed to pilot the Pelican were given to her, along with a visual guide that would work in tandem with the Pelican's own sensors to guide her through the air.

Natsu, on the other hand, was making some last-minute adjustments to her deck, but upon exiting, she noticed the statue, and looked at Protheus. "Should we take her with us?"

Atsuko was going through the house, trying to find anything that might help them, when she felt the presence of something else there. "HEY!!!" She cried out. "SHOW YOURSELF!!! I KNOW YOU'RE HERE!!!"

Viktor looked as the woman disappeared. Even though it couldn't be seen behind the mask that covered his mouth, Viktor was smiling. He turned back to his workshop, walked up to an unfinished machine sitting at the floor, picked up a pen and paper and wrote Мне не нужна ваша помощь больше, идиоты. It was a message to his old "employers" (that only payed him enough to feed himself) He then turned to his main workbench, picked up a few trinkets and gadgets, put them in a bag and walked outside in the cold. He threw a last glance at his old home. There was nothing in there for him anymore.

The jet arrived soon enough and Viktor entered, and so he was on his way to Detroit.

Alexander clutched at his head, grimacing at the searing pain that now arced through his skull like a torrent of lightning. "Agh...!"
You fool...You must involve them; do not let extra souls go in vain.
"Urgh..." he growled. Finally, the pain subsided. "Ah...Sorry about that...My head hurt for a sec, but it's okay now." He didn't want to bother the others about what happened. It happened a lot, so it really wasn't a big deal.

Just then, Atsuko started shouting for someone to come out. "H-Huh? Th-They're here?" he asked, dumbfounded. He regained his composure and joined her. "H-Hey, whoever you are! I-If you want to do something...M-Meet us on the roof!" Alexander thought to the old, weather-beaten dueling field on the roof that dated back to when the dormitory still had students in it, which was a time that had long since passed. Maybe if the Orichalcos lets me...I-I can duel alongside Atsuko and take this person down...That way, neither of us will lose our souls, which would be more likely if we dueled on our own...And I guess Lance could join us too, if he wakes up...But...

"Hey, Atsuko," Alexander whispered, kneeling beside her. "I'm going to head up to the roof. If it's who I think it is, I can probably duel them and either hold them off long enough for you two to escape or even defeat them. You have to promise me, though, that you will not duel an Orichalcos duelist unless there's no other option, okay?"

After stealing his first soul Solomon was in the mood for something warm to drink maybe some tea at Cafe Luna. "Maybe some warm black tea would be nice". Solomon walked into Cafe Luna as he usually did the bell rang with its usual chime and tone. One of the many reasons he loved Cafe Luna so much was its blatant simplicity the filling and reassuring atmosphere it had was refreshing to many especially duelist who came in late. He waved at the cashier as usual and as always was given a teacup filled with premium black tea."Thanks again Star you know me so well". As Solomon went to his favorite spot he noticed another person at that he didn't recognized and decide to make some small conversation after noticing the duel disk resting on the coffee table and a cup of green tea.

Arta watched as the tall boy walked over to the table and sit down with his hot cup of black tea. To say that the boy was tall was an understatement. The boy stood a good four or five inches over Arta. As the boy sat down Arta smiled at him.

"Hello, my name is Arta. I can tell that your also a duelist. I am a little jealous though. To be on a first name basis with the cute cashier, that is something I would like to have." Arta said. He gave the boy a wink and let out a hearty laugh after his comment. Knowing full well that what he said was not funny to anyone but himself.

"So what brings you to this part of the city?" Arta said, with his ever cheerful smile.

"HAHAHA ill tell you it wasn't easy it took weeks of planing but I eventually got it oh and by the way my name is Solomon and I would like to have a friendly duel with you? I know how it sounds so to make it fun who ever loses will have to pay for the meal" Solomon slowly sipped his black tea waiting for the reaction. Now that he got a better look Arta was probably from the Baltic region maybe he was Greek. Being born outside of america he knew what it was like to live the life of a foreigner.someone who isn't accepted for just being born. Even though it was a strange translation from thought to thought it made him think of his mother who was the first to accept all into her arms. She was the kind of women who would go up to someone and without question make conversation and be friend you rather you want to or not. It seems like another thing he would never get to experience.

The duel went on between Kori and the kid. The duel field was quite odd as the field spell Sanctuary In the Sky was active on Kori's field along with Guardian Angel Joan, Marshmellon, and a face-down while on the kids field was Thought Ruler Archfiend and Arcana Force 0- The Fool. Kori was winning by a lot, 2300 to 800. The kid was certainly struggling to keep up with Kori, probably because he hasn't face a near pro-league duelist. His turn was pretty lack luster as he only got to summon The Fool from Kori's graveyard and end up getting the heads effect, the worst one. he sighed as he ended his turn. A smirk peeked on his face as he started his turn.

"Alright. Its my turn. DRAW!" he drew the card and a bigger smirk appeared on his face. "Alright I summon Buten in Attack Position!"

a small light appeared from a the ground as a cute little pig with wings rose up and oinked towards the Archfiend who threw aside the attempt at intimidation, causing the pig monster to cry in defeat. The kid only laughed at the monster summoned.

"Why would you bring such a weak monster against my powerhouse? its way too weak." the kid scoffed as Buten snorted.

"Well now. I tune my Level seven Guardian Angel Joan with my Level one Buten." Buten dissolved into a mass amount of data as it clumped into the angel creating another angel. this one had the the torso of a man and the lower limbs of a horse. one his back were angel wings as he carried a blade and shield. "Meet Avenging Knight Parshath."

The kids face had a hint of worry as he noticed the angelic figure. He was speechless, but the look alone gave Kori the idea that the kid was beaten,

"Now, my knight. bring down your sword upon our Fool." Parshath only nodded as it rose its sword and slammed it on The Fool. Whole it survived the attack, the kid too the damage that came with it, effectively ending the duel. The kid got up and game a simple smile.

"You're really good mister. You should play in the pro leagues one of these days."

"yeah.." Kori only murmured, but the kid could still hear it. "I should go into the pro league." he then winced as the Orichalcos screamed inside his head to be used, but Kori tried not to show it.

Yuri Kanzen

Yuri had meanwhile broken away from the group whilst no-one was looking, and immediately began searching for Castle's forces. She was going to hunt them down one way or another, even if she had to go all Solid Snake on them. But she was not going to turn and run like the others. Yuri was a warrior; not some kind of paranoid coward.

She immediately clad herself in an armour that was heavy enough to protect her, and yet light enough to prevent her footstep from being heard, and grabbed two swords that she had found before setting off.

"You still hunger, don't you, Cuauhcoatl?" Yami Maire asked the being in question as she walked away from the scene, before receiving a sharp hiss in reply, "Hmm, thought so. This means I must find more souls for you t-... hm?"

She stopped walking as she suddenly saw a strange tower in the distance, followed by some military officers that looked as though they were trying to breach that tower. From the distance she was at, Yami Maire probably only saw two or three of them at best, but Cuauhcoatl, sensing a much more sizeable number, slithered off in pursuit.

"Perfect," Yami Maire smirked as she said this, "Tonight, you dine on souls..."

Arta thought about this for a moment.

"Hmm, a duel to pay for a meal..... I am game for that. But I would prefer to just sit for a while longer. I just finished a duel with a nut job who wanted to steal my soul with this card."

Arta pulled the card he had taken off the Orichalcos duelist from his pocket and placed it on the table."I beat him in the duel it was easy enough but I was concerned at the fact that someone would use such a dangerous card." Arta's face turned grim as he looked at the dark card.

"Call me crazy if you want but I can talk to my cards. From the first moment that this card was played in the last duel they had been shouting at me run away. To never look back and avoid a conflict with anyone who has this card. I would often heed their warnings but the need to reach my destination is more important..." Arta shrugged his shoulders in, what appeared to be, an effort to throw off the weight that was on his mind.

"Bah, it is probably the ramblings of a man starting to get old before he is thirty. Anyways, yes I will take you on your challenge. Then after that we can actually order food to pay for." Arta gave Solomon a soft smile, then just as quickly his smile turned toothy "If I loose try not to buy anything too expensive, I don't have much in the ways of money." Arta paused for a minute. "Do they even serve food here?"

" Thats understandable just tell me when your ready cause this place has a really cool feature when people duel here. You will love it trust me" Solomon smiled back

It took everything he had for Solomon not to spit back up his tea as he was faced with The Seal of Orichalcos a card that the power to steal the souls of duelist but what surprised him more was what Arta had said to him right after. Apparently Arta could speak to cards and Solomon knew that there is a very real chance that power truly exist and if it did the implications would prove to be part of the answers he was searching for.

"Nooo Nooo not at all truthfully I believe you the amount of mysteries that surround us are great and far to many to disprove something like that. If people would just open their eyes they could see all the posbillities that the world has to offer."

Solomon tried to speak steady but the uneasy feeling he was getting was telling getting bigger and bigger quickly he needed to find something else to talk about before his card could react to the energy being released from the one thats on the table. Lying wasnt a strong point of his and he made sure not to make a habit of it but he needed something.

"So before we start the duel there are some special rules that come with this match. Here in Cafe Luna all players dueling can use the Cafes special Duel coffee tables which have full mini holographs that project a chibi version of your monster its quite silly but its pretty interesting to see your most dangerous monsters become cute creatures. The best part is the Cafe is treated as a field spell card that deals 500 points of damage to you every turn. Of course if you have a field spell you can destroy it"

Alright that's a good topic to change to Solomon was screaming in his head by the way why was he screaming in his own thoughts that is probably not a good sign but as long he could keep Arta focused it would suffice.

Arta was silent for a while. Deciding on what questions were best to ask.

"Well that certanly seems interesting." Arta said, but he wasn't focused on the words being spoken but rather the body language of the boy sitting across the table from him. It was clear to Arta that this boy knew more than he was saying but Arta did not want to pry, he preferred to let the information flow freely from people rather than forcing it out.

"Chibi you said? I don't know, that might make it seem as though my most powerful monsters are nothing more than plush toys for a child." Arta smiled.

"Alright then who ever wins buys dinner. That works for me, however I must say that I will not go easy on you. Just be prepared for the worst that my deck has to offer." Arta had an arrogant grin on his face, not because he was arrogant but rather to put his opponent into a false sense of security. Because anyone with an arroagant grin must be lying. At least that was Arta's logic.

"Well what are we waiting for lets get this show on the road, will bottom card work for choosing who will go first?" Arta said as he placed his deck on the table.
