I almost broke the aquarium at mine because I saw a stingray's mouth.

There is nothing more frightening. I mean it.

Good thing that Zoos use reinforced glass for all of their exhibits requiring it. Also, Capybaras are unusual.

Oops, wrong Zeus.

Personally prefer Safari Parks to Zoo's due to being bigger spaces for larger groups, but yeah.

I think zoo's are a good thing in general, especially for young people to be taken to as not just a form of enjoyment, but for understanding of animals and how precious they are because unfortunately a lot of stuff is dying out and soon zoo's will be the only places you'll find many kinds of animals :(

It is quite sad, but zoos help give an understanding of how critical the lives of the animals are in the zoo, which would lead to a deterrance in environmental destruction.

Also, there are only 1800 Bengal Tigers left in existence (I learned that from reading a sign in the zoo in the Bengal Tiger exhibit).

I handfed a bunch of Fallow Deer in their territory (Seriously, there is an exhibit in the zoo that required heavy duty fencing and rules, where people can enter Deer Territory and interact them). Of course, my younger brother (who is 13) was scared, especially since 2 bucks approached him and looked at him thinking he has food. Also, there are rules in there, but no authorities. It means that if someone breaks the rules and something bad happens to them, the zoo isn't responsible because your ignorance caused their pain.

I haven't been to a zoo in a VERY long time. Thinking I should go soon...

Anyway, I find myself conflicted about the ideas of zoos.

On the bright side, it does provide entertainment, as well as a chance for learning. It protects the animals kept there(for the most part), they are fed and watered.

On the dark side(lol, dark side), we are containing the wild spirit of animals. I find it sad to see animals stuck behind bars, or glass. It takes away their instinct, and after a few generations makes them domesticated. I find that a wild animal it is much more interesting than an extremely tame one...oh and they usually smell...like really bad.

I guess like most things, you have to take the good with bad.

^^ I love the zoo in my town its aweshum. Except they renevated the aquarium and they have a touch tank now... the line is 30 feet long and theres an old lady standing above it peering down your neck, "touch go, touch go, if you wanna touch something elseback fo the line" and then the butterfly exhibit where they pat you down coming in and out to make sure yuo dont steal butterflies... other than that the zoo is great, but I haventbeen to any others

there are only 4 exhibits I actually like at the zoo and that is

the orangutan because it is insanely smart and it likes to hit on young blonde female humans, which is quite the spectacle.
the komodo dragon, because its a frekin komodo dragon
the ridiculously old turtles that were in the zoo when my dad was a kid
and the petting zoo, because feeding goats your zoo map was awesome
