Do weapons even have stats in this game? If Eugene is anything to go on, weapons at the very least have special abilities and skill level requirements.

I would assume, otherwise weapons would only differ in weight, looks, and if they had an ability.

I wonder if they will do the other sub plot, or just go... Asuna escape -> World Tree -> Final Battle -> Epilogue

It could go either way, but the sub plot sets up for an OVA that has a GGO character (which they have a VA for) so...

A little snip from the LN of the latest episode. This is what Lyfa/Leafa was thinking as Kirito fought Dual Wield.

"Two-sword style— This concept was not entirely new. Despite the many people that attempted to use it, Lyfa didn’t know of any who had succeeded. It was incredibly difficult to manipulate swords with both hands and to have them work in sync.

During kendo competitions in the real world, it was not against the rules to use two bamboo swords, one large and one smaller. However, it was prohibited in middle or high school competitions, and the number of university students who could use two swords is very small. Anyway, she had never used two swords. It might have its advantages, but it was too difficult to be practical. It was said that the same was true in the virtual world.

Next is why the fight between the two had both sides cheering (still Lyfa/Leafa)

In general, fighting in ALO was a graceless brandishing of weapons at close-range or a mindless reliance on magic without even a hint of skill in long-range combat. Defense and evasion were techniques performed only by very experienced long time players, things like face-to-face high skill combat could only be seen at the final rounds at fighting tournaments."

That was a bossly aerial fight.
Kinda reminded me of Bleach the way they flew around with swords actually ._.

I was hoping for someone to go into Bankai or something xD

Speaking of which, besides his illusions as the Beast, are there any One Winged Angel Forms in GGO or any other arcs? And when I say "One Winged Angel" I mean for both enemies AND friendlies

Gleam Eyes is too weak to be called an OWA.
I'd imagine Oberon has a real one though.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=QMveZQ4TKKQ

After foiling the Salamander's plan, and getting an agreement to cooperate in a raid on Yggdrasil from the Sylph's and Cait Sith's leaders, we finally reached the largest city in Alfheim, over which Yggdrasil towers: Aarun.

Looking up at Yggdrasil from its base, it's much bigger than I imagined. At that enormousness, what will I do?
This means that they will not do the Side-Story which become relevant later on. (If they do the OVA with Klien and Sinon or Mother's Rosario)

Also, if you combine Blu-ray and DVD sales then SAO has sold 39,930 copies. Its not groundbreaking, but its something at least. :/
I feel terrible for not caring for Suguha's conclusion by the end of the episode. Suguha, just go with Recon already.

Sad that Asuna got caught, but at least it wasn't a complete waste for her.

This is just my theory, but I don't think this game is supposed to ever be winnable, since the Gamemasters apparently made a patch when people actually got close to climbing the tree. Considering how the plan of the guy who isn't as interesting as Kayaba to the point that I forgot his name (Sugou? I forget his last or first name) is to really use this to [s]create the technology used in Brain Burst[/s] perform an experiment and made Asuna his waifu, it's likely that they just don't give a damn about letting people win.
Wonder what Sugou's doing with all those brains.
But yeah, alright episode.
He already said he is using them to make a mind control thing. Remember how he told Asuna that she would soon willingly fall for him?

Oh did he say that? I'll admit I was really tired at the time and was zoning in and out, so might've missed that detail.

I looked up the episodes on Wikipedia and saw there were 26 listed. I thought SAO was 25 episodes, or did they decide to add another?

Wikipedia is the only one that has 26 episodes listed. Unfortunately, I wouldn't get my hopes up.

Be prepared for next episode, because it might/probably will be when they discover who is actually behind the avatar. huhu

For some reason people are saying this week ended with a cliffhanger. It's not a cliffhanger when they tell you what is going to happen next.

>Kirito blast into the sky
>Leafa (not 2 seconds earlier): "The GMs freaked out and patched an invisible wall limit

2+2= ??

I could see it stretching to 26 if the episodes fly by as fast as today's episode.

Anyway, decent episode, but I am excited for the next episode because
they will finally get into Jormungandr and meet the Evil Gods.
Too bad Asuna got caught when she was so close and would have awoken to see Kirito and Suguha.
